We could not record over the festive period, so it's a week late, but better late than never (we hope). Here is our review of the year 2022 (on a planet that's estimated to be over 4.5 billion years old). This is our season finale, and the last episode for a while, so buckle up.We cover subjects we've been avoiding at all costs because we were either tired of hearing about them or because we were living it and couldn't deal (cost of living crisis, we're looking at you). Also, some important issues on the world stage, that we have not been able to cover thus far.Domestically, it's been a messy year in the UK with 3 PMs in 3 months, the country's infrastructure falling to pieces, rising interest rates, extreme heat, and poverty wages. Fun! And of course, the monarchy… There have been a lot of high-profile men doing the most the world over, so much so, we had to condense them into a list. Finally, as always, we talk about ourselves, because at its core, that's what this self-indulgent podcast is about. Enjoy! If you'd like to read the timeline of the events regarding the Chris Kaba case you can do so here. If you are interested in reading more about Valarie's law, you can do so here. And it was the Euros!Follow us!Instagram, TikTok & YouTube @waitrewindthetapeTwitter @waitrewindtapeSend your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
This week we watched 2022's biggest made-for-TV Christmas romcoms so you don't have to! We review Netflix's ‘Falling for Christmas,' starring Lindsey Lohan. Then the very British, ‘You're Christmas or Mine' from Amazon Prime. And finally, Sky's offering, ‘This is Christmas.' Such diversity in names, tropes, and themes… LOL. As always, take the word ‘review' with a pinch of salt. We cannot stress enough that these are not recommendations. Enjoy! Boy, we are really milking this franchise! This week we watched Rings of Power, the Amazon Prime original series (can you imagine saying that sentence 10 years ago).We give an honest review that we are not qualified to make, and discuss the plot points we missed, watchability, continuity, love stories, performances, and of course unbelievably hot elves/dark lords. There are of course some inevitable comparisons to the original...More importantly though, we discussed hinge profiles and the Disney sequel Disenchanted! If you'd like to watch the YouTube recap we mentioned, that is arguably clearer than the title show itself, you can do so here:https://youtu.be/YLwbPbzGCTkInstagram, TikTok & YouTube @waitrewindthetapeTwitter @waitrewindtapeSend your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
Lord of the Rings Part 3:It's the final part of our Lord of the Rings trilogy mini-series. We compare Frodo and Sam's final stretch to day 3 of a festival, come full circle on Gollum, and discuss whether Frodo meant to destroy the ring (and if it even matters). We also discuss some funny rotten tomatoes' reviews at the end. Enjoy!Follow us!Instagram, TikTok & YouTube @waitrewindthetapeTwitter @waitrewindtapeSend your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
Lord of the Rings Part 2:We start with a short, no-spoiler Black Panther: Wakanda Forever review. We talk about arguably the best film in the LOTR trilogy, and ask the important questions like, ‘is Frodo's savior complex out of control yet?' And end with the most random conversation that has no correlation to the rest of the episode. The standard formula.Follow us!Instagram, TikTok & YouTube @waitrewindthetapeTwitter @waitrewindtapeSend your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
Lord of the Rings Part 1:We have reached the pièce de resistance of fantasy films and will be doing a 3-part Lord of the Rings special. One half of the podcast is a first-time viewer, and the other has spent many a day watching the LOTR extended versions back-to-back. So as always, LOTR lovers and haters alike, get ready for horrible takes, surprisingly deep commentary, utter confusion and tangents galore.P.S. We've had some technical issues with the sound, but we should be back to normal next week xx Follow us!Instagram, TikTok & YouTube @waitrewindthetapeTwitter @waitrewindtapeSend your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
Welcome back for another episode of your favourite podcast! We stay firmly cemented in the fantasy realm this week, opting for the magical School for Good and Evil; a Netflix adaptation of Soman Chainani's novel. Everything about this, from the fairy tale tropes, wardrobe, casting, twists, and most notably storyline that's arguably for children, are everything we look for in a film worth discussing, so buckle up, enjoy and good luck.Follow us!Instagram, TikTok & YouTube @waitrewindthetapeTwitter @waitrewindtapeSend your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
It's here! The episode we've all been waiting for: House of the Dragon! That's right. No more waiting until the end of the episode to discuss it, we finally get to talk about House of the Dragon for an entire episode. Spoilers and family tree confusion galore. From hating Game of Thrones to almost crying at the thought of waiting 2 years for season 2 of HotD; what a full circle moment.Trigger warning: We do touch on the themes of abuse and traumatic labor scenes that were featured in this season, although we don't go into depth regarding the latter. As always, we end with the most random, unexplainable conversation that has no correlation to the rest of the episode…Follow us!Instagram & TikTok @waitrewindthetapeTwitter @waitrewindtapeSend your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
This week we played a game of Trick or Treat, where we each got a trick, treat, or question. It's an incredibly juvenile made-up game. Enjoy! We will not be discussing House of Dragon for ONCE, as we will be doing a full episode next week.Follow us!Instagram & TikTok @waitrewindthetapeTwitter @waitrewindtapeSend your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
Spooky season part 3, and we are literally watching a children's film. We watched Hocus Pocus 2, but only spoke about it for 10 minutes (the original remains unbeaten). We touched on getting black-out drunk (drink responsibly), the usual tory bashing (please can we vote), and casual fascism (please read).SPOILER ALERT: We end the episode by talking about House of the Dragon episode 9 (SHOCK). As always, we give you a heads-up before we start talking about it in case you haven't seen it yet.Follow us!Instagram & TikTok @waitrewindthetapeTwitter @waitrewindtapeSend your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
It's still spooky season aka the month where we watch PG-rated horror films because we are already on edge. This week we watched and discussed the aesthetically pleasing early 90's satirical classic, ‘Death Becomes Her,' and questioned how a man who left his fiancé for her best friend, became the victim/moral compass of the film. You do not need to have seen the film because we recount every detail. We also get into Harry Potter in concert, The Woman King (no spoilers), Sephora coming to the UK, and thick thighs, which really do, save lives. SPOILER ALERT: We end the episode by talking about House of the Dragon episode 8 because we had some thoughts… But don't worry we give you a heads up before we start talking about it in case you haven't seen it yet.Follow us!Instagram & TikTok @waitrewindthetapeTwitter @waitrewindtapeSend your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
Hello everyone and welcome to spooky season. Are you scared yet? I'm legit scared, but that could just be my anxiety. We kick off our October month scare fest with Stranger Things season 4. If you want to skip straight to it, we start talking about Stranger Things at (21:21).Here's the recap we were talking about if you need a refresher. And here's the link to time being frozen in the upside-down theory.Follow us!Instagram & TikTok @waitrewindthetapeTwitter @waitrewindtapeSend your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
Can you believe it's been two years of Wait… Rewind the Tape already? This week we discussed how to date in the UK (leave the country immediately) and reaching our dating peek where only other people husbands seem interested (please for the love of God, keep them). We end by getting into what we think of House of Dragon so far, so be warned, it's spoilers galore. TRIGGER WARNING: We touch on distressing labour scenes from House of Dragon, season 1 episode 6. Welcome Pynk Posse, to the re-re-re opening of Wait… Rewind the Tape. We're back from our summer break, and back in our favourite town, to discuss P-Valley season 2. The final instalment of our 4-part Avengers mini-series!Our final episode before our summer break, and the episode is almost as long as the film (and we were almost as drunk as Thor). If you have ever wanted to hear two women with an entry-level understanding of political theory and/or philosophy discuss a 3 hour of Marvel film while intoxicated, you have come to the right place. Part 3 of our 4-part Avengers mini-series!This week we watched Avengers: Infinity War. We played the blame game (we all know who's fault this is), wondered why no one pointed out the holes in Thonos' master plan and dragged those gosh darn sexy, and for some reason English, Asgardians. End of the world, but make it fashion.Follow us!Instagram & TikTok @waitrewindthetapeTwitter @waitrewindtapeSend your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com

We're back for the second installment of our Avengers mini-series within a series (yep, we're surprised we stuck to schedule too!). Listen along as we try to piece together the timeline of what is essentially a tale as old as time. Super smart scientists create artificial intelligence which only goes and gains a conscience and tries to wipe out a made up European country and humanity in general. This is textbook attention seeking from Ulton, reminiscent of dear Loki's behaviour. Those two would probably get on well. Oh and let's not forget the clumsy love story.... Natascha being just a spy, standing in front of a Hulk, asking him to love her. This raised some obvious questions and somehow got us onto animated comic erotica. Do we spend a disproportionate amount of time objectifying the sexy cast? Yes, and for that we apologise.
Welcome to our 4-part Avengers mini-series! Part one: How does this film have a 91% score on rotten tomatoes? The highest of all four films. Marvel fans, prepare to be upset.(Also, be prepared for some Game of Thrones 'discourse' at the very end of the episode, as we revisit the dreaded season finale... )Follow us!Instagram & TikTok @waitrewindthetapeTwitter @waitrewindtapeSend your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
This week we watched The Office US, season 4, episode 9. The legendary Dinner Party. That one night, you made everything alright... Follow us!Instagram & TikTok @waitrewindthetapeTwitter @waitrewindtapeSend your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
This week we discussed the strangest opening to a book, and critiqued comedies while praising the worst shows that have ever been made.We also got into the employment tribunal in England's decision that calling a man "bald" is sex-related harassment...As always we cannot be held liable for anything we say. P.S. we didn't watch anything.Follow us!Instagram & TikTok @waitrewindthetapeTwitter @waitrewindtapeSend your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
This week we jumped back to season one, episode two of Games of Thrones. What joy and drama. Game of Thrones fans (and haters alike) will enjoy this one. Spoiler alert! In this week's rosé fuelled episode, we talk about our weeks, Roe v Wade and the right to access safe healthcare, theology (yes, again lmao), who looks as good as they smell, and moral dilemmas! This week we talk about The Dropout and everything that is even loosely related. You don't really need to have seen the show as it's based on the real-life story of Elizabeth Holmes, founder and CEO of US biomedical company Theranos, who was found guilty of wire fraud and conspiracy. Follow us! Instagram & TikTok @waitrewindthetape Twitter @waitrewindtape Send your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
Spoilers galore, if you haven't seen it, you have been warned…This week we are in current day London for another incredible, stress-inducing season of Top Boy. The second season since the show arrived on Netflix, but the fourth since its inception. Of course, we focus on the B storylines, like Sully, his canal boat ‘manic pixie dream girl,' and the infamous, ‘see ya later' rolls eyes.We also end up slagging off the joke formally known as the British government, who are still taking the piss, and charging us all for the pleasure.Follow us! Sticking with period dramas, this week we jump forward to 1880s America to discuss HBO's The Gilded Age, a gentle show. Before diving into the old money/new money, we spend 30 minutes describing book genres and 90s/00s childhood nostalgia (so random). Follow us! This week we embraced AI (lol) and used a random question generator that turned out to be deeper than the animated floating duck gif on the website suggested. We then rejected AI and re-embraced idiocy, choosing from a shortlist of self-written questions based on the shallow side of our TV and film preferences. If you are a regular listener you may be wondering if there is a deeper side. There is, we just refuse to audibly acknowledge it. If you too would like to embrace AI, you can find the question generator here: https://faculty.washington.edu/ejslager/random-generator/index.htmlFollow us!Instagram & TikTok @waitrewindthetapeTwitter @waitrewindtapeSend your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
Another week and another scam. We are happy to be back in Shondaland this week and watching Inventing Anna; a fictionalised drama based on the infamous Anna Delvey, aka Anna Sorokin, who was convicted in the US of fraud and grand larceny. The show depicts how Anna, presenting herself as an heiress, could scam friends, hotels, and banks out of hundreds of thousands. Friends aside, it's difficult to have crazy amounts of empathy for New Yorks 'elite.' We at least make a little effort to separate fact from fiction and had a good time discussing this one.A link to articles for those who care...Follow us! This week we watch our favourite dramedy, NBC's Good Girls! We discuss one of the greatest toxic love stories of all time (Beth & Rio) and demand a season 5. Yes, that's right there is a petition, but please for the love of all that is good don't let this be the first petition you have signed this year lmao: https://www.change.org/p/nbc-good-girls-season-5. As the title suggests, we didn't watch anything this week, but we had the pleasure of recording in the same room for the first time in forever. We talk about the Bridgerton secret cinema, BBC's 'The Responder,' child stars turned phenomenal actors, nepotism, current global events, theology (??) and the metaverse (??????).FACT CHECK: Mastercard and Visa block in Russia does not stop domestic purchases. You wanna be on top?! This week, we tuned into the true Queen of Chaos, Ms Tyra Banks, for a dose of classic reality TV. We watched America's Next Top Model, Cycle 11 Episode 3 (SO many words). Episode 3 is the makeover episode where, as the episode title suggests, the aspiring models have their looks revamped and self-esteem shattered. We also talk about Jay Manuel aka Mr Jay's debut novel... Hey loves. This week we are back with more toxic love stories. Happy New Year's Eve Eve! It's the end of the year and the season, so we decided to look back at 2021; the year we barely remember. We open by discussing the festive season and all we binge-watched (no spoilers, we promise). Festive! This week we watched Love Actually, and we surprised ourselves by actually liking it. From the creepy guy with the cards, to the Potus who wanted the hostess, to the pornhub foursome starring the 'lonely, ugly arsehole,' this film was on point, actually. I would like to formally apologise for this bio. We actually talked about the film this week, so there's that.
Hiya loves. This week we watched Sex Education season 3 and discussed none of it. Joking! Although we love the show, we found ourselves once again discussing Tinder bios and doing a lyric breakdown of the seminal Black Eyed Peas hit, 'Where is the Love.' Why? We still don't know.Send your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
This week we watched we took a trip to Shondaland one of our favourite shows, Scandal! We didn't watch anything this week. Instead we decided to freestyle (not freestyle rap though, we wouldn't put you through that). We talked about the how we're coping with what feels like 3 hours of sunlight, what's been going on in our weeks and the men who may or may not have ruined them, the news and of course TV! Inappropriate laughs guaranteed.Send your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
This week, in arguably the worst episode we've ever done, we vaguely discuss one of the most ridiculous and iconic Desperate Housewives episodes (Season 6 Episode 10). Yes, the episode when a plane crashes onto Wisteria Lane. Totally plausible. Send your messages to waitrewindthetape@gmail.com
Who even knows what we were talking about this week?! Not me Paul Rudd voice We definitely watched Disney's 'villain origin story,' Cruella. We definitely talked about the lewks and the questionable plot (spoilers galore). And we of course launched into one of our 'who is the hottest animated Disney character,' in a way that makes everyone but us feel uncomfortable. The rest is probably just rambling. Good luck! Honey, it's our one year anniversary, so we had a tipple and overshared. A classic way to celebrate. In the words of Aristotle, 'if you can't laugh with me bitch, you're miserable.' Enjoy!
Considering how scandalous and melodramatic Devious Maids is, it's a real testament to our lack of focus that we are unable to stay on topic here. We discuss everything from 'non-evasive' cosmetic procedures to Bo-Jo actually confirming how many children he has. What a time to be alive...
We are back from our summer holidays of breaking toes and eating cat food! Did we leave the house? Absolutely not, but we did finally get to watch the incredible final season of Pose, one of our favourite shows. We know the bar is pretty low on what we describe as our ‘favourite shows,' but I'm sure you'll agree Pose is truly one of one.
Hello there! We watched the Shadow and Bone pilot episode but discussed it for under 3 minutes because that's just how we were feeling. Are you ready to hear us discuss lying/thieving politicians, football with zero knowledge of the sport, racist police officers and scary, creepy predators?! Listing it out like that really makes us wonder why we laughed from start to finish.... We both left therapy too soon.
