Vor Kurzem lernte ich ein georgisches Ehepaar kennen: Natascha und Valerian. Sie ist Ärztin in Tiflis, und auch ihr Mann arbeitet im medizinischen Bereich. Ihr Heimatland Georgien, ein kleiner Staat von der Größe Bayerns, ist ein Zwischenland: auf der Schwelle zwischen Europa und Asien, zwischen Großem und Kleinem Kaukasus; zwischen Schwarzem und Kaspischem Meer, zwischen der christlichen und der muslimischen Welt.Aus dem Zerfall der Sowjetunion erwuchs für das Ehepaar eine große Sinnleere. Aber dann kam Valerian zum lebendigen Glauben an Jesus, was Natascha jedoch strikt für sich ablehnte. Sie warf Valerian vor: »Diese Mythen sind unwissenschaftlich. Christen sind nicht nur die Minderheit; sie sind auch etwas minderbemittelt. Sie sind mir zu einfach gestrickt und zu leicht beeinflussbar. Niemals kann ich so einen Blödsinn glauben. Die Mehrheit hat recht!« Aber insgeheim machte Valerians Veränderung sie neugierig. In einem ruhigen Augenblick nahm Natascha die Bibel ihres Mannes vom Nachttisch und öffnete sie wahllos. Dabei fiel ihr Blick auf eine Stelle, die sie schockte: »Geht ein durch die enge Pforte! Denn die Pforte ist weit und der Weg ist breit, der ins Verderben führt; und viele sind es, die da hineingehen. Denn die Pforte ist eng und der Weg ist schmal, der zum Leben führt; und wenige sind es, die ihn finden« (Matthäus 7,13-14).Sie erfasste sofort die Unausweichlichkeit dieser Worte. Die Mehrheit ist auf dem falschen Weg! Dieser eine Vers der Bibel reichte, um Nataschas Denkgebäude zum Einsturz zu bringen. Auch sie setzte von da an ihr ganzes Vertrauen auf Jesus. Fünf Monate später ließ sie sich taufen. Heute ist eine Frau zu Gast, die die Modewelt herausfordert – & zwar mit Maßband, Haltung & radikaler Klarheit: Natascha von Hirschhausen. Nach einem abgebrochenen Physikstudium entdeckte Natascha ihre Leidenschaft für Mode – & blieb ihr treu. Sie studierte an der Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee, absolvierte dort sowohl ihren Master als auch den Meistertitel. Der entscheidende Wendepunkt kam 2014: Ein Austauschprojekt führte sie nach Bangladesch, mitten in die Schattenseiten der globalen Textilindustrie – Überproduktion, Müllberge, katastrophale Arbeitsbedingungen. Für Natascha war das eine Initialzündung. Sie entwickelte ein eigenes Zero-Waste-Schnittsystem, das Verschnitt auf unter ein Prozent senkt – statt wie üblich rund 20. 2016 gründete sie ihr Label: konsequent nachhaltig, plastikfrei, lokal in Berlin produziert & mit zertifizierten, fairen Materialien. Für diesen Ansatz erhielt sie den Bundespreis Ecodesign. Fotograaf Natascha Libbert legt vast welke invloed mensen hebben op de natuur, in foto's die zowel beeldschoon als sinister zijn. Een donkerblauwe poel water in een bruin rotsachtig landschap, met een onnatuurlijk gele kraag langs de randen, het gevolg van een giftig meer dat is ontstaan na koperwinning op Cyprus. Of een dun struikje, dat wapperend in de wind nog net niet bezwijkt onder de greep van een zwart stuk plastic. Soms is het ook de natuur zélf die vernietigt: op het Canarisch eiland La Palma fotografeerde Natascha in 2021 de gevolgen van de vulkaanuitbarsting. Een dikke laag as die een auto bedekt, of een verwoeste bananenplantage. Vrijwel al haar werk laat zien dat het idee van maakbaarheid niet houdbaar is: er is altijd wel iets dat het perfecte plaatje verstoort. Natascha's vrije werk wordt ook gevoed door werk in opdracht, onder meer voor De Volkskrant, de scheepvaart en KLM, en met name die laatste opdrachtgever levert een interessante contradictie op - hoe rijm je het maken van indringende foto's over de verwoesting van de aarde met werken voor een grote vervuiler?
