Camping is GOOD FOR YOU! It's been shown to help improve sleep, breathing, and reset from the business of modern life. Even better? Camping with friends!
Most people don't achieve their goals (92% footnote 1). Perhaps it's because they don't set them at all. I've heard that most people don't set goals (perhaps as high as 80%) and that even fewer write them down (I've heard from 3-10%).In my experience, the big disconnect between what people want to achieve and actually achieving it centers around the fact that people haven't learned how to think strategically about the steps required to work towards their goals. In this 100th episode (!) of my podcast, we address this issue with examples to help you understand how you might break a goal down into its many parts.Part 1: I share with Natascha a goal I've been working towards for the last 2.5 years: the desire to produce a stand-up comedy show. I break it down into its components. Then Natascha and I strategize around a goal she has (that I'm sure many of you can relate to): making more money.Part 2: I coach my friend Angela on her goal to improve her health with specific attention on getting better sleep because it's so foundational towards this goal.Part 3: My friend Christine shares her thoughts on the first two parts and then we talk about her goal to raise resilient children. I love this goal not only because it's very relatable, but also because of it's "ephemeral" nature. I give her some ideas on how to make it more concrete and easier to implement on a daily basis.Website:BYWDreams.comOur books: TinyURL.com/BYWDbooksOur life-design course: BYWDreams.mailerpage.com/hpopFootnote 1. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2980864/

❤️ Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
In this exclusive Patreon episode, we delve into the harrowing story of Natascha Kampusch, an Austrian woman who was abducted at the age of 10 and held captive for over eight years. On 2nd March 1998, while walking to school in Vienna, Natascha was kidnapped by Wolfgang Přiklopil and confined in a concealed cellar beneath his garage in Strasshof. During her captivity, she endured physical and psychological abuse, including starvation and beatings. Her resilience led to a daring escape on 23 August 2006, when she seized an opportunity while cleaning Přiklopil's car. Natascha's ordeal has been chronicled in her autobiography, "3,096 Days," which was later adapted into a film. Join me as we explore the complexities of her captivity, the psychological dynamics between victim and captor, and her journey toward reclaiming her life.Don't miss an episode—follow, comment, like, and share!

Wildfires are currently burning across the Los Angeles County area. Schools are closed. Friends have lost homes. Family has been evacuated. I've packed and unpacked the car three times. Natascha had no power for 72 hours. It's a lot. In the midst of this, life goes on, and on today's episode I talk about a really helpful thought exercise to wrap your head around your "ideal year" by coming up with a recipe for it.

Special Guest: Natasha Speets Free giveaway https://www.paulieskaja.com/opt-in1 In this episode of "Live Into Your Best Life," I had the pleasure of welcoming Natasha Speets, a remarkable leader and founder of a global training organization. Our connection dates back to 2020, when Natasha served as my teacher, inspiring me with her ability to cultivate a community of positive, like-minded individuals. Natasha's journey began as a teacher for children with special needs, eventually evolving into a coach and trainer specializing in leadership and agile methodologies. We explored her unique experience using dolphins as therapy animals, highlighting how interactions can significantly influence personal development. Natasha advocates for self-awareness and empathy in leadership, emphasizing the importance of recognizing rather than eliminating biases. We dived into the crucial distinctions between management and leadership, discussing the delicate balance leaders must maintain between control and empowerment. Natasha illustrated how starting with a clear vision and taking small steps fosters confidence and collaboration within teams. In the current leadership crisis, where meaningful change often conflicts with organizational pressures, empathy and understanding of the broader ecosystem are vital. The conversation also touched on my own journey into Agile coaching. Recognizing a gap between my coaching skills and Agile methodologies, I immersed myself in Agile literature and sought to create an online community for discussion and growth. The pandemic accelerated this initiative, allowing me to reach a wider audience. However, I soon realized the necessity of building a dedicated team to tailor our programs effectively. A memorable anecdote involved coaching someone navigating a challenging relationship with their cat. Instead of focusing solely on the cat's behavior, we explored deeper emotional issues, reinforcing that true coaching is about personal growth. As we wrapped up, we emphasized the importance of open communication in parenting, building a foundation of knowledge for our children, and encouraging them to make informed decisions. I encouraged listeners to follow their passions and make smart decisions, always keeping an open heart and mind. Join us as we continue this journey of growth and exploration together. Check out all the great work Natascha is doing at https://theagilecompany.org/ and connect with her on LinkedIn.
