"Die späten Tage" heißt das neue Buch von Natascha Wodin, das heute erscheint, kurz vor ihrem 80. Geburtstag am 8. Dezember. Darin schreibt sie über das Alter, eben über die "späten Tage" ihres Lebens. Zu ihren späten Erfahrungen gehört auch der literarische Ruhm. Seit sie 2017 für "Sie kam aus Mariupol" den Preis der Leipziger Buchmesse erhielt, ist ihr Aufmerksamkeit sicher für ihre Bücher und ihr Leben, das sie in ihren Romanen verarbeitet. Als Tochter sowjetischer Zwangsarbeiter wurde sie in Deutschland geboren, verbrachte die Kindheit in einem Lager für Displaced Persons und wuchs nach dem Krieg als "Russin" im Feindesland auf. Vor Kurzem lernte ich ein georgisches Ehepaar kennen: Natascha und Valerian. Sie ist Ärztin in Tiflis, und auch ihr Mann arbeitet im medizinischen Bereich. Ihr Heimatland Georgien, ein kleiner Staat von der Größe Bayerns, ist ein Zwischenland: auf der Schwelle zwischen Europa und Asien, zwischen Großem und Kleinem Kaukasus; zwischen Schwarzem und Kaspischem Meer, zwischen der christlichen und der muslimischen Welt.Aus dem Zerfall der Sowjetunion erwuchs für das Ehepaar eine große Sinnleere. Aber dann kam Valerian zum lebendigen Glauben an Jesus, was Natascha jedoch strikt für sich ablehnte. Sie warf Valerian vor: »Diese Mythen sind unwissenschaftlich. Christen sind nicht nur die Minderheit; sie sind auch etwas minderbemittelt. Sie sind mir zu einfach gestrickt und zu leicht beeinflussbar. Niemals kann ich so einen Blödsinn glauben. Die Mehrheit hat recht!« Aber insgeheim machte Valerians Veränderung sie neugierig. In einem ruhigen Augenblick nahm Natascha die Bibel ihres Mannes vom Nachttisch und öffnete sie wahllos. Dabei fiel ihr Blick auf eine Stelle, die sie schockte: »Geht ein durch die enge Pforte! Denn die Pforte ist weit und der Weg ist breit, der ins Verderben führt; und viele sind es, die da hineingehen. Denn die Pforte ist eng und der Weg ist schmal, der zum Leben führt; und wenige sind es, die ihn finden« (Matthäus 7,13-14).Sie erfasste sofort die Unausweichlichkeit dieser Worte. Die Mehrheit ist auf dem falschen Weg! Dieser eine Vers der Bibel reichte, um Nataschas Denkgebäude zum Einsturz zu bringen. Auch sie setzte von da an ihr ganzes Vertrauen auf Jesus. Fünf Monate später ließ sie sich taufen.
