Imagine discovering that the person standing next to you paid less for the exact same product, not because it was on sale, but because an algorithm decided you were willing to pay more. It's called surveillance pricing, and while there's little evidence it's widely used in Canada today, governments are increasingly looking at regulating the practice. Surveillance pricing uses personal data such as your shopping habits, browsing history or even your location to determine what price you're offered.Retail analyst Bruce Winder spoke to Andrew Carter.

The first school year under Quebec's province-wide cellphone ban is almost over, and early feedback from many schools suggests it's having a noticeable impact. Teachers report more conversation in hallways and cafeterias, while some students say the policy has helped improve social skills after years of pandemic-related isolation. Adam Wiltzer, a teacher at Royal West Academy, where a cellphone ban was already in place before the provincial rules took effect, spoke to Ken Connors.
Uber has just released its annual Lost & Found Index, and while the usual suspects top the list, Quebec riders have also managed to leave behind cartons of eggs, cakes, and even a bag of potatoes. This year, Sherbrooke takes the title as Quebec's most forgetful city, ahead of Gatineau, Quebec City, Trois-Rivières and Montreal. Jonathan Hamel from Uber Quebec spoke to Ken Connors.

Electric vehicles made in China are beginning to arrive in Canada in significant numbers, with thousands entering the market just in the past month after Ottawa eased tariff rules. While proponents say the influx could lower prices and expand consumer choice, the federal government is also warning about potential cybersecurity and privacy risks tied to highly connected modern vehicles. Automotive reviewer and EV enthusiast Pat Cayer spoke with Ken Connors.
It's been nearly a decade since Uber transformed the transportation industry in Quebec, and many traditional taxi drivers say they're still paying the price. A group of former taxi permit owners is now asking the Supreme Court of Canada to hear their case against the Quebec government, arguing that when the province opened the market to ride-hailing services and abolished taxi permits, it effectively wiped out a valuable asset that many drivers had counted on for retirement. Lex Gill, one of the lawyers representing the permit holders spoke to Ken Connors.

It’s a disease that gradually takes away movement, speech, and independence, but today’s guest knows it from both sides: as a physician and now as a patient. We last spoke with Dr. Alec Cooper here on the show in July, when he shared his work using AI to preserve and clone his voice before ALS could take it away. Today, we’ll get an update on that project, and more importantly, how he’s doing living with the disease day to day. Dr. Cooper spoke with Ken Connors.
