It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' loss to the Islanders, the end of Connor McDavid's point streak, Edmonton's goaltending dilemma, line combos, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about whether or not the Oilers are blowing their January homestand. Given that they've lost twice as many home games as they've won, it's hard not to think that Edmonton is dropping the ball on a golden opportunity to make up some ground in the standings. Shifting gears, the guys looked at last night's loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins and wondered how much of that loss the boys hung on Tristan Jarry, given that he allowed six goals on the night. While no one is saying Jarry was very good, the reality is that the skaters in front of him were just as bad, if not worse. We also discussed Leon Draisaitl's return to the lineup, and how it was a valiant effort by Drai, considering the heavy week he had and the long travel back from Germany. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk for our friends at bet365, and Hot and Cold Performers to look back on the week that was. With the 2025-26 season stretch drive well underway, the guys spent the bulk of the podcast moving through a range of topics, some related to the Oilers and others not, but that's the way things go on the Friday episode of ONR. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
The Oilers were asleep to start the game against the Penguins. Tom Gazzola, Ben Thomson, Matt Kassian & Reid Wilkins break this one down as the Penguins score the quickest 3 goals against the Oilers in Edmonton's history. How much blame goes to Jarry? What's wrong with the Oilers puck play? Are the Oilers in trouble in the Pacific Division? The Oilers fail to beat Jake more than once as the Oilers lose to the Devils 2-1. Tom Gazzola, Ben Thomson, Joaquin Gage & Reid Wilkins break this one down as the Oilers were too little too late to make a comeback. How was Jarry tonight? Did the Oilers deserve to win? What was Nurse thinking on that 2nd goal? All of this discussed and so much more on this edition of The GCL Diesel Oil Stream Postgame Show here on Edmonton Sports Talk!
It's been another wild week around here with the Oilers rollercoaster making another loop, and I've got a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never ready to recap it all. On today's podcast, I talked about Connor McDavid' heater, Tristan Jarry's return, Jake Walman, and much more.I kicked off this week's episode with a look at the heaters that are happening throughout the Oilers' lineup right now, and while Connor McDavid is understandably getting all of the attention, there are a couple of other guys who are nearly as hot as the captain. From there, I offered the latest updates on Trent Frederic and Andrew Mangiapane after both guys returned to the lineup this past week, following some well-deserved time in the press box. Finally, I tried to figure out what to expect from Edmonton's goaltending situation after Tristan Jarry returned to the crease Tuesday night in Nashville. Finally, I wrapped up this week's episode of BLTN with a Righteous Sack Beating about windrows, then closed out the podcast with another round of voicemails. The voicemail was alive this week, and everyone's takes were all over the map and very fun for me to listen to. The voicemail is the best way to wrap up the show and give everyone a chance to share their thoughts. Another hearty thank you to everyone who contributed to this week's episode. Having all of you in the mix makes the show so much better.Want to leave a voicemail for next week's show? Do it here!
The Oilers lose to the Predators in OT by the score of 4-3. Tom Gazzola, Ben Thomson & Shawn Belle break this game down as we see the Oilers fail to convert in OT. How did Jarry look? How did Mangiapane play? Knoblauch making some bad coaching decisions? All of this discussion and so much more on this edition of The GCL Diesel Oil Stream Postgame Show here on Edmonton Sports Talk!
On today's episode of 2 Guys & a Goalie, the fellas recap last night's 4-1 Oilers win over the Chicago Blackhawks. They'll break down what they liked from the game, taking a closer look at Connor Ingram's performance, while diving into the lineup decisions that led to a solid team effort. Then it's all about what's next as the Oilers head into tonight's matchup against the Nashville Predators. What do they need to do to keep the momentum rolling? Will we see any lineup changes? And Tristan Jarry and Jake Walman have both been activated off LTIR. How does that affect the goaltending group moving forward? What happens when the Oilers have to make that tough decision? The boys hash it all out and much more on today's episode of 2 Guys & a Goalie. 2 Guys & a Goalie is presented by GS Construction!
The Oilers with a disappointing game in Calgary as they lose to the Flames 3-2. Tom Gazzola, Ben Thomson & Matt Kassian break this game down as the Oilers couldn't get past Dustin Wolf more than twice. Has Ingram played his way to a backup role when Jarry returns? How did Regula play today? Where was Trent Frederic tonight? All of this discussion and so much more on this edition of The GCL Diesel Oil Stream Postgame Show here on Edmonton Sports Talk!
On Episode 606 of Spittin' Chiclets, the boys are buzzing with a loaded show as Zeev Buium and Guy Gadowsky stop by to talk all things hockey, development, and the college game. We kick things off with some massive news as Chiclets officially heads to Netflix in the U.S., what that means for the pod, the fans, and why this is a huge moment for hockey content. From there, it's wall-to-wall NHL talk: the Wild power play humming, Jarry vs. Skinner stealing headlines, and the Oilers feeling far from done after Leon Draisaitl hits 1,000 points while McDavid stays nuclear. It's Tuesday afternoon, and there's a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio set, which means the boys were back in the studio to recap the week that was. On today's episode, the guys discussed the Oilers' Tuesday's matchup vs. the Penguins, Tristan Jarry vs. Stuart Skinner, Baggedmilk's Trivia, and much more.We kicked off the Tuesday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about whether everyone is making too big a deal about the Oilers taking on the Penguins for the first time after the Skinner/Jarry trade. Given the magnitude of Friday's trade and the fact that the two teams are playing so quickly, it's easy to understand why the media and fans are so interested, even if we're only talking about a regular season game in mid-December. Changing gears, we looked at Tristan Jarry's Oilers debut against the Maple Leafs and how he was more than adequate despite arriving with the team just over 24 hours earlier. We also walked through some of Stuart Skinner's quotes from this morning after practice, and how it definitely seems like a trade was needed for both sides. Not to be left out, the fellas also spent a few minutes giving Brett Kulak his flowers after being a fantastic Oiler for the four years he was here. Regardless of the situation, Brett Kulak was a wonderful player for the organization and everyone on the podcast was sad to see him go. Finally, we wrapped up the episode of ONR with another round of Baggedmilk's Trivia, including some Oilers vs. Penguins-specific questions ahead of Tuesday's game. If you listened to previous editions of BM's trivia, you'll know that Baggedmilk has been way off on some of the questions, which keeps Liam in the role of trivia marshal and auditor. The Oilers made a statement last night with a convincing win over the Boston Bruins, and the boys are here to break it all down on today's edition of The Oil Stream. We'll recap everything that went right in that performance and dive into the Tristan Jarry situation after he was removed from the game — what does it mean for the Oilers' goaltending moving forward? Then it's time to look ahead as the Oilers try to build real momentum, chasing their first three-game win streak of the season tomorrow night against the Minnesota Wild. All that and plenty more on another episode of The Oil Stream, right here on Edmonton Sports Talk. The Oil Stream is presented by Boston Pizza!
Hour 2 of The Big Show with Rose and Krahn is on demand! To kick off the hour the guys get Brent Krahn's opinion on the Stuart Skinner trade and who he thinks won the trade. Then the guys discuss what the future could look like for Skinner, If he's traded by Pittsburgh as a pending UFA, and how much could he fetch on the open market.(17:44) Later on, the gang is joined by the radio PxP voice of the Edmonton Oilers, Cam Moon! Cam takes the guys through his perspective o the Skinner/Jarry trade on Friday. Then he gets into the Oilers as a whole and gives his take on if Evan Bouchard will be on team Canada. The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Media Inc. or any affiliate. Then, they take a look around the league and discuss if Tom Wilson is a lock for Canada, the injury concerns ahead of the Olympics, if we will see an influx of trades before the Olympics, Jarry's early returns in Edmonton, what the Canucks are getting in Zeev Buium and his potential, and much more. Thursday afternoon means a fresh episode of Real Life was recorded and edited, and it's ready to help you wrap up the week. On today's podcast, the guys discussed the Jarry vs. Skinner game, Leon Draisaitl's 1000th point, and more. The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a conversation about ginger beef being invented in Calgary and how you can only find it in Western Canada unless the restaurant owner is Canadian. From there, the guys jumped into the Stuart Skinner conversation and how the Oilers celebrated Leon Draisaitl's 1000th point only a few feet away from their former goaltender. Should the Oilers have tried to move the pile away from Stu? Are we being too sensitive about the situation?Changing gears, the conversation turned to Leon Draisaitl's 1000th point picture in the room, and how everyone had a cigarette in their mouth to commemorate his viral wedding photo. From there, Chalmers tried to figure out which players had enjoyed a butt or two based solely on how they had it sitting in their mouths. Sticking with the Oilers, the fellas looked ahead to Thursday's matchup against the Bruins and whether a trip to Boston can be enough to wake up Trent Frederic. Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with the Thursday episode of Real Life, covering a random collection of topics, including beefs of the week and maybe a moment or two of Edmonton Oilers hockey talk. Needless to say, when the team is as bad as they've been lately, talking about literally any other topic just seems more enjoyable. As always, the Thursday episode was all over the map, which is precisely what you'd expect from the Real Life podcast. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

It's been another wild week around here with the Oilers rollercoaster making another loop, and I've got a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never ready to recap it all. On today's podcast, I talked about the Jarry vs. Skinner game, Vasily Podkolzin's progression, and much more.I kicked off this week's episode with a look back at last night's matchup between the Oilers and Penguins. Obviously, this game was on everyone's mind, as it would be the first head-to-head between Tristan Jarry and Stuart Skinner since they were traded for each other only four days before. As much as I was thrilled about the result, it was also hard not to feel bad for our former friend while he was getting shelled by his old club. Not only did Skinner get pumped for five goals, but he also had to stand in his crease while the Leon Draisaitl 1000-point celebration was happening only feet to his left. Needless to say, it was one of the weirder December wins we could have ever watched. Finally, I wrapped up this week's episode of BLTN with a guest Righteous Sack Beating about winter driving, then closed out the podcast with another round of voicemails. The voicemail was hilarious again this week, and everyone's takes were all over the map and very fun to listen to. The voicemail is my favourite way to wrap up the show and give everyone a chance to share their thoughts. Another hearty thank you to everyone who contributed to this week's episode. The Oilers win in dominant fashion over the Penguins down in Pittsburgh! Tom Gazzola, Ben Thomson and Matt Kassian break this game down as we see Leon Draisaitl get to the 1000 point mark! How good was Jarry tonight? Did Hutson get enough ice time? How dominant has McDavid been? All these questions answered around great conversation on this edition of The GCL Diesel Oil Stream Postgame Show here on Edmonton Sports Talk!
A rough Monday night raised player-safety and Olympic concerns, starting with Brandon Hagel’s injury from a forearm to the head by Seth Jones—a play that drew no supplemental discipline, frustrating Tampa Bay and leaving Ray concerned about the message it sends and future tensions. In Dallas, Team Canada hopeful Darcy Kuemper exited after being clipped by Mikko Rantanen in what most saw as a hockey play with an unfortunate result. Vancouver stunned the league by trading Quinn Hughes to Minnesota in a rare in-season blockbuster, choosing the youngest package—effectively four first-round assets—signalling a clear youth-driven re-tool and prompting a subtle jab from Hughes toward New Jersey. Edmonton also made waves, moving Stuart Skinner and Brett Kulak to Pittsburgh for Tristan Jarry, change for change sake perhaps, as Ray doesn't feel this provides real stability in goal, though Jarry has improved since time in the minors. Finally, Toronto remains a puzzle: sloppy play and an inability to handle pace—exposed again against an all-world Connor McDavid—highlight the Leafs’ need for a scoring winger amid tight cap constraints and asset management. Plus, in Ask Ray & Dregs Anything: the Hughes haul, Central Division predictions and more!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Quinn Hughes saga is over, and once again he is not joining the Detroit Red Wings. On a happier note, we open by recapping Detroit's last two games of their road trip, including a tough loss to an unreal Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers (including Simon Edvinsson scoring after suiting up unexpectedly) (5:20), before jumping into the Red Wings and their dominant win over the Connor Bedard-less Chicago Blackhawks, including Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat putting on a show, Emmitt Finnie benefitting from Axel Sandin-Pellikka's offensive moves, another John Gibson shutout, and lots more (8:45). After that, a discussion on DeBrincat's star season as he's been on fire alongside "Showtime" Patrick Kane and Andrew Copp, providing strong scoring support behind Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond on the 1st line, as well as John Gibson's recent strong streak over the past 5 games, what it could mean for the Detroit Red Wings and their playoff chances, the upcoming month of December, & plenty more (15:50). Next, Quinn Hughes being traded to the Minnesota wild for Marco Rossi, Liam Ohgren, a 2026 1st round pick, and Zeev Buium: our analysis on the deal, the risk Bill Guerin is taking, how Jim Rutherford did compared to expectations, Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings missing out on adding Quinn Hughes to Moritz Seider's side, what the equivalent deal may have been, and whether it would've been worth giving up Simon Edvinsson, Nate Danielson or Marco Kasper, Carter Bear, and maybe more in the trade (28:15). Finally, our thoughts on the Skinner for Jarry trade in Edmonton, and how this affects McDavid & Draisaitl's Cup chances (57:25). Boomer and Rhett are joined by TSN's Darren Dreger to break down a massive move involving the Edmonton Oilers, who finally addressed their goaltending by acquiring Tristan Jarry and forward Sam Poulin from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Stuart Skinner, defenseman Brett Kulak, and a 2029 second-round pick. The guys debate whether Jarry is truly an upgrade in net, what this trade says about Edmonton's desperation, and if this move actually moves the needle for a team under serious pressure.VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/3kbNHyH-3qA#nhl #nhlshorts #nhlplayoffs #nhlpredictions #nhlhockey #nhlpicks #stanleycup #stanleycupfinal #edmontonoilers #edmonton #oilersnation #pittsburgh #pittsburghpenguins CHECK OUT OUR STUFF ⬇️BARN BURNER MERCHhttps://nationgear.ca/collections/shirts/FlamesnationBARN BURNER SHORTS https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLj_bcGtvvo-cW2DHEDZ6dEO5ePDmlhZc9&si=jo8iNGxT4ImhS2Y8

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Stuart Skinner for Tristan Jarry trade, our new shiny toys, line combos, injury updates, line combos, and much more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about whether the Oilers are better on Friday than they were on Thursday night when they beat the Red Wings. Given that the Oilers traded both Stuart Skinner and Brett Kulak to acquire Tristan Jarry before sending a 3rd round pick to Nashville to land Spencer Stastney, it's fair to wonder whether this was an upgrade or a lateral move.Shifting gears, the guys continued their trade analysis by breaking down Stan Bowman's post-trade quotes and whether making a change for the sake of change is the right move. While it's true that Tristan Jarry's numbers are better than Stuart Skinner's this season, that doesn't mean there aren't risks, like injury history, ebbs and flows, and wondering how these guys will perform on their new teams. The guys also spent some time looking at Thursday's win over the Detroit Red Wings and how it was a fantastic win after what was a disappointing outing against the Sabres on Tuesday. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk for our friends at bet365, and Hot and Cold Performers to look back on the week that was. With the 2025-26 season well underway and trades happening, the guys spent the bulk of the Friday episode moving through a range of topics, some related to the Oilers and others not, but that's the way things go on a big news day.SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!!Powered by @bet365.
