In this hour, Adam Crowley and Dorin Dickerson address the latest NHL Draft lottery. Also, what's going on with K Justin Tucker? And "Who wants to be smarter than a plumber?" May 6, 2025, 7:00 Hour
Adam Crowley and Dorin Dickerson address a few fans who reached out and wanted to defend the performance of Penguins' G Tristan Jarry this previous season.
Sidney Crosby is the Penguins team MVP, but Tyler Kennedy thinks Bryan Rust is second in voting. Joe thinks Tristan Jarry is the most disappointing Penguin. Bob thinks Ryan Graves for a high salary but low production and often being a healthy scratch. TK thinks Tristan Jarry will be the guy.
Hour 1 with Bob Pompeani and Joe Starkey: Tyler Kennedy joins the show and shares his draft day memories. TK thinks if the Penguins tear it down to the studs, it would be difficult and a very long process to get back from and hurt youth hockey in the city. If the NHL draft lottery legit?? Tyler has questions. Sidney Crosby is the Penguins team MVP, but Kennedy thinks Bryan Rust is second in voting.
Hour 4 with Bob Pompeani and Joe Starkey: Kyle Dubas said he hasn't had any post-season meetings with Mike Sullivan and will meet with him Tuesday to sort through everything. The Penguins likely won't be viewed as a contender if Tristan Jarry is their goalie. Joe wants the Penguins to move on from Sullivan.
The Penguins likely won't be viewed as a contender if Tristan Jarry is their goalie. Joe wants the Penguins to move on from Mike Sullivan. The No. 1 issue moving forward is goaltending. Goal prevention has been poor and the team isn't listening to Mike Sullivan.
Sidney Crosby has been named the NHL's most complete player again. TK doesn't think Erik Karlsson is going anywhere and the Penguins need to do something to get him playing like a team player and good player again. TK is conflicted on Tristan Jarry and thinks it would be best if Jarry and the Penguins ultimately part ways.
A 'different' Tristan Jarry, for sure. An update in the Aaron Rodgers saga as the Vikings said no the 4-time MVP. Now it comes down to the Steelers, the Giants or retirement with all 3 being real options. Do we think this move means the Steelers will be the ones to land Rodgers? Where does that put the Steelers' ceiling? Does it make them THAT much better? How much do fans want to see Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh? Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. Tyler thinks it's fair for fans to be rooting for losses at this point in the season so the Penguins work themselves into better draft position. How much do you want Tristan Jarry to play down the stretch? TK doesn't rule out the Penguins giving Jarry another chance next season, but he thinks the business standpoint should make it clear cut after the season. The guys told TK about Donny's trip to the game last night where he sat in the Poni seats (free food & booze). Tyler said Brent Burns was the cheapest guy he ever played with. TK brought up Joe Thornton and some of his funny stories on the road. TK told the guys about golfing at Pebble Beach. Tyler challenged the guys to golf later this year.

On his daily First 10 podcast, Post-Gazette sports columnist lists what he believes are the worst contracts in Pittsburgh sports right now. Does Steelers coach Mike Tomlin belong at the top of the list, given his high-end pay but limited results, especially in the NFL playoffs? Where do Penguins players Tristan Jarry, Ryan Graves and Erik Karlsson rank, especially with Jarry now making millions to play in the minor leagues? Does Pirates 3B Ke'Bryan Hayes belong in the conversation amid his struggles offensively since signing his lucrative extension a few years back? And what about starter Mitch Keller, whose numbers are decent but not incredible despite a hefty salary? Jason tackles those questions, then weighs in on NFL playoffs matchups this weekend including Texans-Chiefs, Commanders-Lions, Bills-Ravens and Rams-Eagles.

On his daily First 10 podcast, Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey reacts to news that the Penguins have waived goalie Tristan Jarry with the intent of sending him to their Wilkes-Barre/Scranton affiliate in the AHL. Why was it the right move for GM Kyle Dubas, despite Jarry's lucrative contract? Will the NHL goaltending group be better moving forward with Joel Blomqvist and Alex Nedeljkovic? Was former GM Jim Rutherford picking Matt Murray over Marc-Andre Fleury still the right move in hindsight, given what it led to with Jarry? How much does the Jarry contract taint Dubas moving forward? And what can the Penguins expect from star Evgeni Malkin amid his return?
