What's up, Proud Meaters? In this episode, we celebrate the end of that awful year with very informal memoriam of country artists and our best-of selections in film releases! There is no box, it's a huge box that doesn't exist, Britt is seeing things. We're podcasting from the future. Jerrad watched Are We Not Cats, Evil. Matt watched the William Grefe collection, namely Sting of Death, Death Curse of Tartu, The Hooked Generation. Also His Dark Materials, Possessor (Best things ever, go watch) We talk about How Sweet Home is not in Alabama (Shoutout to Craig), Matt's long standing obsession with Filipino comic Trese. Duck Soup, Something Weird, Cheese Aliens, New Year's Evil, 3D glasses, excitement about April Ghoul's, lazer buttholes. As usual there are spoilers and unspoiled sections. It's sparkly and unsanitary, but someone's gotta do it. #115 Borat: Subsequent MovieFilm, On the Rocks, Bad Hair We are being all-inclusive this week with the streaming service providers. Out from Prime Video is the sequel to the culture shock hit, Borat, and we discuss the merits of making this sequel this year and if the comedic impact can bear the weight of the world. On the Rocks, the latest by Sofia Coppola, is brought by Apple TV+ where we get to enjoy a charming Bill Murray helping his daughter to solve a personal crisis mystery. Bad Hair, from Hulu, is the Halloween-friendly film about a slice of black life set in the 80’s, a killer weave and an MTV-type of studio. Episode 156 takes you on a trip upstate. To deliver an engine during winter. It’s a day trip for a couple hundred bucks… aw hell, this is just where we live now, so let’s get used to it! This may be oversimplifying the plot of “Are We Not Cats?”a bit, but the details may astound you. You know what else may astound you? Turkish superhero movies. Especially when green Spiderman starts running a counterfeiting operation! When your hosts are done discussing the actual purpose of capes, it’ll be time to discuss a meandering, but great-looking, moody film that shows a lot of promise. So, get your jug of antifreeze, you’ll need something to wash down all that hair! Find us on Instagram, where we are @chewingthescenery or easily find us on Facebook. Some things are just better with a little bit of time. At least that's the argument we're making for the 2017 Year End Awards. You wanted them and we're finally delivering on one hell of an episode. We've got enough news this week to fill two episodes. There is the strange and artistic ARE WE NOT CATS, the absolutely stunning and savage MOHAWK, and somehow flying under the radar, GHOSTLAND. We also have our eyes on a plethora of Netflix news which includes another Flanagan adaptation of King, a release date for the highly anticipated THE RITUAL, and a new original series called THE RAIN. Finally we talk about some strange accusations being lobbied at Guillermo del Toro and we drop some details about where US audiences can watch one of our favorite 2018 films, FRAMED. In round two we chat with the highly entertaining Jon Schnitzer, the mind behind the amazing documentary HAUNTERS: THE ART OF THE SCARE. This man has some stories to tell! Finally we close out the show with The Modern Horrors picks for best of 2017. There were some real surprises in here, which we are sure to be divisive. All of that and a slew more in this 2 hour extravaganza!
