As our family embarks on a massive cross-country move and prepares to graduate our oldest son, I've been reflecting on the spiritual growth that comes from embracing God's will in the thick of life's chaos, and the sacred power of the present moment. Even when it's hard and messy. In today's podcast episode, I share the difference between our last big move (cue toddler, puppy, homeschooling, and house showings!) and this one, and how learning to surrender the pain, instead of resisting it, is the path to peace.

In Happy, Holy Mama this week we are diving into the concept of becoming happier through learning how to suffer well. And when I was thinking about what I wanted to share on the podcast to support my students in that process, I couldn't stop thinking about an episode I released last year for the 20th anniversary of my first husband's passing. I had already experienced quite a bit of suffering in my life prior to becoming a 20 year old widow, but that experience took what I thought I knew about suffering to an entirely new level. It also showed me what I was capable of. And more importantly, it showed me what God is capable of through my fidelity to unifying my will to His will for my life, regardless of how difficult the circumstances might be. This skill is vital for our happiness, not just in eternity, but right now in this life that God is knitting together for us, with our cooperation, moment by moment. I am honored to share my experience, knowledge, and training as a life coach with my students in the program to teach them how to do this for themselves on a daily basis! And I am honored to share my story again with you here today, as we go into Holy Week and suffer with Christ on calvary, in our day-to-day lives. Please grab your earbuds and join me for this most valuable podcast episode: MVP Blessed Be God: A Reflection on Loss, Suffering, and God's Will. Over the course of my careers as a wife, mother, homeschooler, and life coach there is one feeling that I have seen be a bigger plague on the happiness and holiness in a family more than any other. The feeling of being ‘not enough.'  Of not having enough. Of not being capable enough in one way or another. This ‘not enoughness,' or lack (scarcity is another way we talk about it in coaching), infects our marriages, disconnects our relationships with our kids, and distracts our homeschooling efforts. And none of it comes from God. As I reflected on what I wanted to share with the members of Happy, Holy Mama this Lent, God placed this ‘not enoughness' at the forefront of my mind and heart. He wants to heal that ‘not enoughness' if you'll let Him. But it does take a bit of work on your part to be open to the healing He wants to offer you. Messy Family Podcast : Catholic conversations on marriage and family

“Catholic parenting is above all a work of grace” - Fr. Carter Griffin We often say there is no manual for being a parent, but this book comes pretty close!  In this podcast, we interview the author of Forming Families, Forming Saints Fr. Carter Griffin.  Fr. Griffin has worked for years forming young men into priests in the seminary setting.  In doing so, he saw many similarities between what he was doing with young men and what parents were doing at home.  The four pillars of formation in the seminary - human, intellectual, spiritual, and apostolic - can be applied in the family as well! In both settings, ultimately God is the one who does the transforming in people's lives, but He does choose to use us in the process. We believe this book is a valuable resource for parents that they will be able to refer to again and again.     Key Concepts Parents are proxies. God is the ultimate shaper of their hearts and minds, but He chooses to use us in the lives of our children In the past decade or so there has been an emphasis on the importance of childhood and parenting on a person's life.  This knowledge is good, but it also has put an incredible amount of pressure on parents to “do it right”.  The four pillars of seminary formation - Human, Spiritual, Intellectual, and Apostolic can be applied for parents forming children within the home.   The most successful parents create an environment of trust in the home through continual dialogue with their children while sending the message that they don't just love their kids, but they like them too!  Parents need to know they are not alone! There are many other families working alongside you and we have a great cloud of witnesses cheering us on.  Couple Discussion Consider the four pillars that Fr. Griffith describes.  How is our child doing in each of these?  Can we make a goal for them in each area?  Are we overwhelmed by the responsibility of parenting?  How can we rely on God more for the grace that we need and for the grace that our children need?   Resources Father's book:  Forming Families, Forming Saints: https://stpaulcenter.com/product/forming-families-forming-saints/ Find out more about our UK tour in March - https://messyfamilyproject.org/uk-tour-2025/ Event in New Jersey with Array of Hope - Beloved https://arrayofhope.regfox.com/beloved

Today's Topics: 1)  Steve Garone on his Comedy Festival for Catholic Families at Vertuccio Farms 2, 3, 4) A satanic, blasphemous circus is coming to Chandler, AZ, located inside the Gila River Indian Reservation. The blasphemous parade starts on January 3, 2025 (Friday night at 7:30 pm). Catholics are planning a rally to do prayers of reparation for the blasphemies and sacrileges that will be committed against Our Lord Jesus Christ and Our Lady. Imagine, 11 nights of satanic rituals and curses against God's people in that area of the Phoenix Diocese. Saint Benedict Catholic Church is about 300 yards away from were the actual satanic paranormal circus will be held. We will meet at Pecos Park, 17010 S. 48th St., Phoenix from 3 pm to 5 pm starting on Friday, January 10th; Saturday, January 11th; Sunday, January 12th; and, Monday, January 13th. We will be saying prayers of reparation and prayers to minimize, or, actually stop the damage from the curses they will be projecting from the paranormal circus. I am in contact with the staff at Saint Benedict Catholic Church and we have their full support. They will make announcements to the laity to come out and take a stand against this evil with public prayers of reparation https://www.womenofgrace.com/blog/83792
