Da konnte mir auch die KI nicht weiterhelfen, immerhin wusste sei, dass Leapmotor ein chinesischer Hersteller von Elektrofahrzeugen mit Sitz in Hangzhou ist, der 2015 gegründet wurde und ein Joint Venture mit dem Autokonzern Stellantis hat. Ein Englisch – Deutsch Übersetzungstool sagt, es hieße übersetzt „Sprungmotor“. Angesichts der Beschleunigung könnte das sogar stimmen. Wieso der Begriff aus dem Westfriesischen kommen soll, ist mir aber ein Rätsel! Darum geht es diesmal!Ab und zu sticht mich bei der Erstellung meiner Fahrberichte der Hafer, dann kann ich mir einen Gag nicht verkneifen. Also: Stellen Sie sich mal vor, Ihnen kommt auf der B10 ein B10 entgegen. Das erste B10 steht für eine ca. 240 Kilometer lange Bundesstraße im Südwesten Deutschlands. Das zweite für ein Elektrofahrzeug aus dem Hause Leapmotor. Und da man bei Elektroautos immer über die Reichweite spricht, folgt später noch eine amüsante Rechnung.  Das Outfit!Das elektrische C-SUV wurde von Leapmotor für Europa konzipiert, sein Exterieur ist ausdrucksstark. Testfahrten auf dem renommierten italienischen Testgelände Balocco haben das untermauert.  Power und Drive!    Kommen wir zum B10 auf der B10 und zu der besagten Rechnung zurück.  Wenn besagter Leapmotor B10 mit einer kleinen Batterie ausgestattet ist, schaffen Sie die B10 einmal hin und ein ganzes Stück zurück mit einer Ladung. Mit der großen Batterie fehlt nur ein kleines Stück beim Rückweg. In Zahlen ausgedrückt sprechen wir von Reichweiten von 361 bzw. 434 Kilometern WLTP-Reichweite. Der B10 wird immer von einem hocheffizienten Elektromotor mit 160 kW (218 PS) angetrieben, der den Wagen aus dem Reich der Mitte in nur 8 Sekunden von 0 auf 100 km/h und auf eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 170 km/h beschleunigt. Leapmotor hat ihn unter anderem mit 17 ADAS-Funktionen und einem 360°-Kamerasystem ausgestattet. Seien wir mal ehrlich. Die Entscheidung zwischen einem Elektrofahrzeug und einem Verbrenner hängt von vielen Faktoren ab. Die haben wir an dieser Stelle schon oft von allen Seiten beleuchtet. Ein ganz wichtiger ist natürlich der Preis eines Elektrofahrzeuges. Und der kann wegen der derzeitigen Förderprämie der Bundesregierung aktuell sehr interessant sein. Zudem legen viele Autohersteller auch noch mal eine eigene Prämie oben drauf! Wer gerade über einen elektrisch angetrieben SUV nachdenkt,  sollte sich mal den Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross näher anschauen.  Darum geht es diesmal!Seit einem guten halben Jahr, also seit Ende 2025, ist der neue Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross auf dem Markt. Der Eclipse Cross ist das erste vollelektrische Kompakt-SUV der Marke. Hier kombiniert der Hersteller moderne Elektromobilität mit hoher Alltagstauglichkeit, das markentypische Design gibt es als Zugabe. Power und Drive!    Schon zur Markteinführung hat Mitsubishi den Eclipse Cross als Langstreckenversion mit einer leistungsstarken 87-kWh-Batterie angeboten, damit ist eine Reichweite von bis zu 635 Kilometern nach WLTP möglich. Eine Mid-Range Batterie für eine Mittelstreckenversion ist geplant. Was auffällt ist die hohe Flexibilität bei den Lademöglichkeiten: Das Fahrzeug unterstützt serienmäßig das AC-Laden mit 11 kW, optional auch mit 22 kW (dreiphasig). Das kann speziell für Nutzer interessant sein, die in einem engeren Radius um ihre eigene Ladestation höhere Kilometerleistungen haben und deshalb zuhause schneller, aber dennoch günstig laden wollen. Unterwegs kann man natürlich auch an jeder DC-Schnellladesäule mit bis zu 150 kW aufladen. Ein Aufladen von 15 auf 80 Prozent ist so in 37 Minuten erledigt. Der Blick auf die Fahrleistungen zeigt: Der Eclipse Cross ist ca. 170 Kilometer schnell, zu Tempo 100 beschleunigt er in 7,9 Sekunden. Sein Energieverbrauch beträgt kombiniert 16,7 kWh/100 km Strom, die CO2-Emission sind logischerweise bei 0 g/km.  Weil die Frage gerade bei Elektrofahrzeugen immer wieder gestellt wird, schauen wir mal auf die Garantieleistungen. Generell wird der Eclipse Cross mit einem erweiterten Garantiepaket von fünf Jahren Herstellergarantie bis 100.000 km mit anschließender Verlängerung auf bis zu acht Jahre bzw. 160.000 km für wesentliche Bauteile ausgeliefert. La Citroën ë-C3, dans sa finition You Autonomie urbaine, s'affiche désormais à 12 990 euros après aides — contre 15 990 euros pour la C3 thermique d'entrée de gamme. Trois mille euros d'écart, en faveur de l'électrique.Comment y arrive-t-on ? Par la combinaison de deux coups de pouce : une ristourne de 1 300 euros accordée par Citroën elle-même, et surtout la prime CEE maximale de 5 700 euros — les Certificats d'Économies d'Énergie, un dispositif d'aide à la transition énergétique réservé aux foyers les plus modestes. Pour ceux qui n'y sont pas éligibles au taux plein, la prime minimale est de 3 600 euros, ce qui ramène la facture à 16 390 euros — toujours sous le prix du thermique.C'est Xavier Chardon, directeur général de Citroën, qui a annoncé l'offre sur BFM Business, à 13 490 euros dans un premier temps. Trois jours plus tard, la marque aux chevrons rabaissait encore le curseur à 12 990 euros, en marge des essais nationaux du modèle. Le site officiel, lui, n'avait pas encore suivi. Ce qui a précipité les choses, c'est l'arrivée de la Renault Twingo E-Tech début avril. Lancée à 19 490 euros catalogue, soit 13 750 euros avec la prime CEE maximale, elle bousculait un segment que Citroën occupait seul depuis plusieurs mois. La réponse est venue en quelques jours à peine. Deux marques françaises qui s'affrontent directement sur les prix, et les tarifs qui s'effondrent en quelques jours plutôt qu'en quelques mois — c'est inédit, et c'est une aubaine pour l'acheteur.Les deux modèles ne visent pas exactement le même profil. La Twingo revendique 263 km d'autonomie WLTP contre 205 pour la ë-C3, et propose la recharge rapide jusqu'à 50 kW en option. La C3, elle, plafonne à 30 kW. En revanche, ses 4,01 mètres contre 3,78 pour la Twingo font une vraie différence au quotidien, surtout avec des passagers à l'arrière. Te vamos a contar lo que no te cuentan en el concesionario. ¿Estás pensando en comprar un híbrido enchufable para tener "lo mejor de los dos mundos"? La promesa de la Etiqueta CERO sin la ansiedad de autonomía de un eléctrico puro es tentadora, pero la realidad técnica es mucho más compleja de lo que muestran los catálogos. En este vídeo desnudamos la ingeniería de los PHEV para entender por qué, en muchas ocasiones, podrías estar comprando el coche más ineficiente de la última década. La física contra el marketing: El problema del peso En ingeniería, el peso es el enemigo absoluto. Un híbrido enchufable es un atleta con sobrepeso permanente. Para funcionar, necesita duplicar componentes: motor de combustión completo, sistemas de escape con sus filtros de partículas, depósito de combustible y, sumado a todo eso, una batería de alta tensión de entre 12 y 25 kWh junto a la electrónica de potencia. Esto supone un lastre de entre 300 y 500 kg adicionales respecto a un coche convencional. El peso extra castiga neumáticos, fatiga las suspensiones y aumenta las inercias. Cuando la batería se agota —y sucede rápido—, te quedas con un motor de gasolina moviendo una masa enorme, convirtiéndose en el escenario menos eficiente posible. La mentira del consumo y la normativa Euro 6e-bis Las cifras de consumo de 1,1 l/100 km son una "verdad manipulada" por el actual ciclo de homologación WLTP y su "Factor de Utilidad". La realidad es que, en viajes largos, estos coches emiten entre 3 y 5 veces más CO2 de lo declarado. Sin embargo, el chollo se acaba. A partir de 2026, la normativa Euro 6e-bis cambiará las reglas del juego, asumiendo que los usuarios no enchufan tanto sus vehículos. Esto duplicará o triplicará los consumos oficiales, provocando que muchos PHEV empiecen a pagar impuesto de matriculación al perder sus cifras de laboratorio. El "Suicidio Mecánico" por choque térmico Uno de los puntos más críticos para la fiabilidad es el maltrato al que se somete al motor térmico. En un PHEV, es común circular por autopista en modo eléctrico con el motor de gasolina completamente frío. Si necesitas potencia repentina, el motor térmico arranca y sube a altas revoluciones de forma instantánea. Sin lubricación previa ni temperatura de servicio, los metales sufren dilataciones bruscas y fricción en seco. Además, en trayectos cortos donde el motor apenas funciona unos segundos, el aceite se degrada prematuramente al no evaporarse la humedad ni el exceso de combustible. La batería: Pequeña pero muy sufrida A diferencia de un coche eléctrico puro, la batería de un PHEV sufre un desgaste proporcional mucho mayor. Mientras un eléctrico hace un ciclo de carga completo cada varios días, un enchufable lo hace a diario. Esta química sufre más estrés térmico y ciclos de descarga profunda. Si a esto le sumamos que la mayoría no admiten carga rápida, el vehículo se vuelve esclavo de tener un cargador en el domicilio. Sin carga diaria, el PHEV es, sencillamente, una estafa para el bolsillo. El futuro de las etiquetas en España El panorama administrativo también está cambiando. Se debate seriamente que solo los PHEV con más de 90 km de autonomía real mantengan la etiqueta CERO. Esto afectará drásticamente al valor de reventa de los modelos actuales que apenas llegan a los 40 o 50 km reales. Aunque se respeten los derechos adquiridos, el mercado penalizará a los coches que "engañan" con su eficiencia. Decálogo para el usuario de un PHEV Si a pesar de todo el perfil de uso te encaja, aquí tienes las reglas de oro: -Carga diaria obligatoria en casa. -Si tu trayecto supera la autonomía eléctrica diaria, el ahorro se esfuma. -Mantenimiento riguroso: cambio de aceite anual sin falta. -Vigila el tamaño del depósito de gasolina; muchos son minúsculos. -Comprueba la suavidad en la transición entre motores. -Asume una depreciación tecnológica acelerada. -Atención al desgaste de frenos por el exceso de masa. -Usa neumáticos específicos con código de carga reforzado (XL). -Si haces un 80% de carretera, un diésel sigue siendo mejor opción. -Exige garantías de batería de al menos 8 años. En conclusión, el híbrido enchufable es una tecnología de compromiso, una respuesta de los fabricantes para evitar multas europeas, pero no siempre una solución lógica para el usuario. Es una herramienta útil para un perfil muy específico, pero un error costoso para la mayoría de los mortales.

Mit seinem raffinierten Design, seinem komfortablen Interieur und einer umfangreichen Ausstattung setzt die Löwenmarke ein klares Statement im C-Segment. Das Outfit!Mit dem neuen 408 setzt Peugeot sein Engagement im C-Segment konsequent fort. Als erstes Modell der Löwenmarke trägt es einen beleuchteten „PEUGEOT“ Schriftzug an Front und Heck, ergänzt durch die hochwertige Lichtsignatur mit den charakteristischen schrägen LED-Krallen. Glänzende und matt schwarze Elemente schaffen einen eleganten Effekt. Power und Drive!    Der neue 408 bringt eine breite Palette an Motorisierungen mit. Dazu gehören ein Hybrid, ein Plug-In Hybrid und ein reiner Elektroantrieb. Den Einstieg bildet der 1.2 l HYBRID 145 e-DSC6. Der Antriebsstrang kombiniert wie der Name schon andeutet einen 145 PS (107 kW) starken Benzinmotor mit einem 6-Gang-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe mit Elektrifizierung. Die Batterie lädt sich während der Fahrt automatisch auf und sorgt für zusätzliches Drehmoment und so für eine dynamische Beschleunigung.Die nächsthöhere Motorisierung ist der reine E-Antrieb. Hier sprechen wir über 157 kW (213 PS).  Verbesserungen an der Aerodynamik sorgen für einen niedrigen Stromverbrauch von 14,7 – 15 kWh/100 km nach WLTP. Das Bordladegerät des Peugeot E-408 unterstützt bis zu 120 kW und ermöglicht eine Aufladung der Batterie von 20 Prozent auf 80 Prozent in nur etwa 30 Minuten.PS-mäßig an der Spitze findet sich der Plug-In Hybrid 240 e-DSC7 mit 177 kW (240 PS) Systemleistung. Nuestra querida jerga de cilindradas, compresión y árboles de levas está siendo sustituida por un nuevo diccionario lleno de siglas que, admitámoslo, muchas veces parecen diseñadas para confundirnos. Hoy no vamos a debatir si el eléctrico es el futuro o no; hoy vamos a diseccionar la tecnología con "ingeniería a tu alcance" para que, cuando leas una ficha técnica, entiendas de verdad qué te están vendiendo. Aquí tienes los pilares fundamentales para entender un coche eléctrico moderno: 1. kW vs. kWh La gran confusión Es la base de todo y donde más gente se pierde. -kW (Kilovatios): Es la POTENCIA. Equivale a lo que antes llamábamos caballos (CV). Para pasar de kW a CV solo multiplica por 1,36. Representa la fuerza del motor o la velocidad de carga. -kWh (Kilovatios-hora): Es la ENERGÍA. Es la capacidad de la batería, equivalente a los litros del depósito de gasolina. Piensa en un cubo de agua: los kWh son el tamaño del cubo (cuánta agua cabe) y los kW son el grosor de la manguera. Tener muchos kWh (batería grande) no garantiza cargar rápido si tu sistema de carga (kW) es lento. 2. El Corazón: Motores Síncronos vs. Asíncronos No todos los "motores de 200 CV" son iguales. Existen dos grandes familias: -Síncronos de Imanes Permanentes (PSM): El rotor gira a la misma velocidad que el campo magnético. Son los reyes de la eficiencia (más del 90%) y ultra precisos, ideales para ciudad. La desventaja es que son caros y pueden generar resistencia al rodar por inercia si no se gestionan bien. -Asíncronos o de Inducción (ASM): El rotor gira algo más lento que el campo magnético. Son robustos y más baratos (sin imanes de tierras raras). Su gran ventaja es que no ofrecen resistencia cuando no se usan, permitiendo ir "a vela" en autopista sin consumo. Muchos coches de tracción total inteligentes usan un motor síncrono en un eje para el día a día y un asíncrono en el otro que solo "despierta" al pisar a fondo. 3. La Química de la Batería Exige saber qué química lleva tu coche, porque determina su vida útil y uso. -NCM (Níquel-Cobalto-Manganeso) / NCA: Son las baterías de alto rendimiento. Ofrecen mucha densidad energética (mucha autonomía en poco peso), ideales para viajes largos y deportivos. Sin embargo, son más caras, inestables térmicamente y sufren si se cargan siempre al 100%. -LFP (Litio-Ferrofosfato): Son las baterías que están democratizando el eléctrico. Son rocas: muy seguras, difícilmente arden, baratas y con una vida útil larguísima (+2.000 ciclos). A diferencia de las NCM, a las LFP debes cargarlas al 100% frecuentemente para calibrar su gestión. Su contra es que pesan más y sufren más con el frío extremo. 4. Voltios y Carga: 400V vs 800V La mayoría de eléctricos funcionan a 400 Voltios, pero los más sofisticados saltan a 800 Voltios. ¿La diferencia? En un sistema de 800V, la electricidad se empuja con más presión (voltaje) y menos intensidad, lo que reduce el calor y permite usar cables más finos. Esto se traduce en cargas ultrarrápidas consistentes, recuperando del 10 al 80% en apenas 18 minutos. Glosario Básico para no perderse: -BMS (Battery Management System): El director de orquesta. Controla temperatura y voltaje de cada celda. Un buen BMS define si tu batería durará 10 años o 3. -Curva de Carga: Olvida el "pico de potencia". Lo importante es la potencia media. Muchos coches tienen un pico alto que cae a los 5 minutos. -Frenada Regenerativa: El motor se vuelve generador. Úsala al máximo en ciudad (One Pedal) y minimízala en autopista para aprovechar la inercia. -Frunk: Maletero delantero, ideal para cables sucios. -WLTP vs. Realidad: Para saber la autonomía real en autopista a 120 km/h, resta un 25-30% a la cifra oficial WLTP. El enemigo es la aerodinámica. -Vampire Drain: El consumo fantasma de tu coche parado (sistemas de vigilancia, conectividad, etc.). Entender un coche eléctrico requiere cambiar el chip: dejamos de mirar cilindros para mirar celdas. Si es para ciudad, busca LFP y eficiencia; si es para viajar, busca aerodinámica, NCM y 800V. La información es poder.

El turbo sopla al máximo y la temperatura se dispara. Para evitar la autodetonación ("picado de biela"), la centralita utiliza el "enriquecimiento de protección": inyecta gasolina extra no para mover el coche, sino para refrigerar la cámara de combustión. Estamos usando gasolina como refrigerante. En la práctica, un motor pequeño forzado consume más que un motor 2.0 atmosférico que trabaja relajado a la mitad de su capacidad. La Pesadilla de la Fiabilidad: Motores de "usar y tirar" Sacar 130 CV de un litro de cilindrada somete a los materiales a un estrés propio de la competición, pero usando componentes de utilitario. Esto ha traído tecnologías que han destrozado la fiabilidad a largo plazo: Inyección Directa (GDI) y Carbonilla: Al inyectar directamente en la cámara, la gasolina ya no limpia las válvulas de admisión. The Chinese Leapmotor B10 will claim the title of the most affordable electric SUV when it goes on sale next month priced from $38,990 drive- away. The small B10 SUV follows the larger Leapmotor C10 launched late last year and will arrive in two models – the B10 Style will offer a 361km range under WLTP standards and feature a 56.2kWhour battery pack while the B10 Design LR with larger 67.1kWhour battery and a 434km range will sell for $41,990 drive-away. TESLA TEASES OCTOBER 7 MODEL Y REVEAL Tesla released a teaser for an October 7 Model Y reveal, sparking speculation over a more affordable variant intended to boost sales momentum and address product aging. The event is pivotal as Tesla faces pressure from competition and expiring federal incentives; analysts expect production ramp-up of the lower-cost Model Y in Q4. TESLA GERMANY SEPTEMBER SALES AND BYD SURGE In Germany, BEV registrations rose 31.9% year-over-year, but Tesla's numbers fell 9.4% in September and halved since January, while Chinese rival BYD saw registrations soar beyond twenty-fold for the month. The rise of competitors and market diversification are accelerating electrification, prompting legacy automakers to refresh offerings despite Tesla's updated Model Y achieving stronger results in other parts of Europe. EUROPE EV SALES RISE IN AUGUST European plug-in vehicle sales climbed 36% year-over-year in August to about 246,000 units, outpacing overall market growth and raising BEV share to 21%. Popular models like Tesla's Model Y, Skoda Elroq, and Model 3 contributed to momentum, reinforcing investment in charging infrastructure and fleet electrification. FRANCE SEPTEMBER EV MARKET UPDATE France saw 140,090 total registrations in September with plug-in vehicles making up 29% of sales, as BEVs and PHEVs increased their market share compared to last year. The Tesla Model Y led the month's results with its best French volume in two years, pointing to strengthening Q3 demand for electrification despite a slight year-to-date shortfall. AUDI US EV SALES SURGE Q3 2025 Audi's U.S. EV sales leaped 232% to 18,071 units in Q3 2025, with electrics making up 39% of the brand's quarterly volume as the Q6 e-tron outsold its ICE sibling Q5. The shift signals consumer preference for electric variants, but ongoing growth depends on scaled production, dealer readiness, and effective ownership economics. CADILLAC Q3 EV SALES SURGE Cadillac delivered 18,383 EVs in Q3—a record since 2013—boosted by expiring tax credits, with electric models chosen by 40% of buyers in the period. Q3 EV deliveries rose 154% year-over-year, though upcoming quarters will test Cadillac's ability to sustain the momentum. BMW AND STELLANTIS MATCH FEDERAL EV CREDIT BMW and Stellantis are offsetting the loss of the $7,500 federal EV tax credit by applying equivalent discounts to eligible electric and plug‑in hybrid models. The offers, restricted to dealer inventory and requiring delivery by early November, are intended to prevent immediate price hikes and maintain sales amidst changing incentives. DACIA SPRING UPGRADED WITH MORE POWER AND LFP Dacia's upgraded Spring city car features new, more powerful motors and a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that improves cost and safety while maintaining a WLTP range of 140 miles. The revised models, now quicker and more efficient, are priced from £15,000 to £17,000 and arrive early next year. SCANIA HIGH-FLOOR ELECTRIC COACH PLATFORM Scania has launched a high-floor battery-electric coach platform with up to 600 km range, supporting multiple body types and maintaining luggage space comparable to conventional coaches. The new platform comes with integrated smart charging services and aims to advance commercial vehicle electrification across Europe. KIA PV5: ELECTRIC LIGHT COMMERCIAL VAN Kia's new PV5 electric van, built on a dedicated E-GMP.S platform, offers multiple body styles, battery options up to 258 miles, and fast DC charging of up to 150 kW. Integrated fleet management and warranty features support commercial use, with mass production underway in Korea. ILLINOIS EV FAST CHARGING: $15 FLAT Universal EV Chargers now provide flat-rate, $15-per-session DC fast charging across Illinois, eliminating time-based pricing and surprise surcharges. Drivers use CCS or NACS connectors, scan to start, and benefit from predictable costs with a growing statewide coverage. RIVIAN ADDS LIDAR TO AUTONOMY PLATFORM Rivian will incorporate LiDAR sensors into its next-generation vehicles to bolster their autonomy platform, reflecting industry trends as costs for the technology decrease. Recent hires and tech stack updates align with CEO RJ Scaringe's statements about Rivian's long-term focus on advanced driver-assistance systems.

Unlike previous EQ models that carried distinct names and styling, this GLC shares its nameplate with the combustion-powered version while riding on an entirely different platform purpose-built for electric drive.  This marks Mercedes' previously announced departure from the standalone EQ brand identity toward a unified approach where electric and internal combustion variants coexist under familiar model names. The model will compete directly with the likes of Tiguan and Sportage at a mid-£30,000 price point—aiming to recover relevance with lower emissions and competitive pricing without expecting past market share highs. EUROPEAN AUTOMAKERS SEEK 2035 FLEXIBILITY European automotive leaders are calling for flexibility in the EU's 2035 ban on petrol and diesel cars, citing tougher global supply chains and increased reliance on Chinese battery suppliers. Automakers advocate for hybrids and transitional support beyond 2035, while member states like Italy and France push for exceptions, highlighting the division over the full fossil fuel phase-out deadline. TOYOTA BUILDS EV SUVS IN KENTUCKY Toyota will begin producing its first electric vehicles in the U.S. next year, including two three-row SUVs at its Georgetown, Kentucky site, part of a $1.3 billion investment focused on domestic EV growth. The move aims to serve rising American demand, add jobs, and advance Toyota toward carbon neutrality by 2050, while balancing hybrids, plug-ins, and full EVs. STELLANTIS CANCELS ELECTRIC RAM 1500 REV Ram has scrapped its planned all-electric 1500 REV pickup in favor of a plug-in hybrid model, citing weak demand for battery-only trucks and financial constraints at Stellantis. The new Ram REV, featuring a gasoline generator with over 690 miles of range, appeals to users needing greater towing and long-distance capability, while Stellantis refocuses on hybrids and profitable platforms. NISSAN MICRA LIVE EVENT SHOWCASES NEW SUPERMINI EV Nissan unveiled its fully electric sixth-generation MICRA in Rotterdam, built on the dedicated AmpR platform, offering two battery sizes, 198–260 miles WLTP range, and advanced handling and tech features. Starting at £21,495 in the UK with government support, deliveries begin January 2026 as MICRA leads Nissan's European EV lineup expansion. GM REAFFIRMS EV-ONLY FUTURE, SLOWS TRANSITION GM CEO Mary Barra reaffirmed the company's long-term goal of going all-electric by 2035, positioning it as a strategic "North Star". However, she acknowledged that the full transition may take decades due to industry complexity and evolving market and regulatory challenges. AMAZON TESTS GM BRIGHTDROP DELIVERY VANS Amazon has started testing GM's BrightDrop electric vans alongside its existing Rivian fleet, part of its strategy to deploy 100,000 electric delivery vehicles by 2030. The pilot comes as GM faces production slowdowns, offering a chance to boost BrightDrop's visibility and demand while Amazon diversifies its supplier base. VOLVO CEO EXPECTS OTHER BRANDS TO FAIL Volvo recently rehired former CEO Håkan Samuelsson, who affirmed the inevitability of electrification and predicted only a few Chinese brands will dominate globally in the next decade. He expects legacy automakers will struggle, with survival dependent on agility and partnership with advanced firms like Geely, as newcomers like Tesla and BYD reshape the market. CHINA AUTO INDUSTRY THREAT TO GLOBAL MARKET Industry experts at the Detroit Automotive News Congress warned that U.S. automakers are underestimating the competitive threat posed by Chinese brands, whose EV market share in China surged to 50%. Fierce home competition is fueling aggressive export plans, targeting Europe, Mexico, and North America, with cost and technology advantages challenging established automakers. HYUNDAI-LG GEORGIA BATTERY PLANT STARTUP DELAY Hyundai and LG's Georgia battery plant faces a two- to three-month startup delay after a major U.S. immigration raid detained hundreds of workers, most employed by LG suppliers. Hyundai will offset production impact by sourcing batteries from other facilities while both governments negotiate skilled labor solutions for future projects. SCOUT CEO ARGUES FOR DIRECT SALES STRATEGY Scout Motors CEO Scott Keogh stated the company will pursue direct sales, comparing traditional dealer model unfavorably to buying directly from Apple and advocating for a seamless brand experience. He dismissed dealers as a distraction, reinforcing direct-to-consumer as the company's strategic retail approach. MAINE DISTRICTS FACE ELECTRIC SCHOOL BUS SERVICE ISSUES Maine school districts have seen electric buses sidelined due to unresolved service issues, with manufacturer Lion Electric's bankruptcy halting repairs and parts, leaving districts stuck with non-functional vehicles under federal grant terms. The state faces mounting frustration, a federal lawsuit against Lion, and reliance on emergency replacement options while the EPA oversees the troubled program.

NEW CAR REGISTRATIONS AUGUST 2025August registration figures are down on 2024. Typically a quiet month prior to the number plate change in September, it was still a disappointment. We also do not know how much of an effect the mishandling of the ECG approval list had on the overall numbers. BEVs took a 26.5% market share. JLR HIT BY CYBER ATTACKJLR have been hit by a cyber attack that has halted all sales, aftersales and production work. The group claiming responsibility are the ones who hit M&S and others on the UK highstreet. The company has employed specialists to help address the problem but communication has been limited as to what has happened and what is going on. PORSCHE CHANGES TACK ON BATTERIESDue to recent financial performances and market conditions Porsche has reviewed their high performance battery projects and decided to shut some down. They have a battery subsidiary called CellforceGroup which they are reorganising and CellForce will become a small R&D company focusing on developing batteries. ZOOPLA TO SHOW PUBLIC EV CHARGER LOCATIONSOccasionally there are stories you hear and think “why hasn't that been done before” and this is one. Audi Concept CAhead of the IAA Munich show Audi revealed their Concept C, inspired by the TT but is not to be seen as a replacement for one. The design is similarly executed that of the Jaguar 00 concept.
