We premiere some high-caliber techno from none other than London-based Cisco Ferreira aka The Advent who joins Synthetic Sounds for a five-track EP with a remix from DJ Dextro. We feature ‘Two Zero Four' a quintessential Advent production as Cisco turns the swing right up and craves out a minimalistic piece of classy techno, further cementing his name in the history books of techno. Synthetik Sounds returns for its fourth release, following the release of Annika Wolfe‘s Saudade EP in early 2023. For the occasion, the team welcomes the UK-based Portuguese techno and electro icon The Advent, who brings The Plug Formation, a 5-track techno offering with a special remix by DJ Dextro. With a long list of classic techno records under The Advent, Cisco Ferreira & G Flame, the UK-based producer has become one of techno's most fascinating talents and enigmas. Honing in on a locked and loop-driven sound that has inspired a new generation of techno producers, and his impact is still felt to this day. Described as ‘a musician, pioneer, sound designer, steady force, rebel, icon, an outsider and a great live artist', Cisco Ferreira is the man behind The Advent - a globally celebrated, long-running producer and selector this side of the electronic realm. Working as a duo with Mr.G in 1990 under ‘The Advent' alias, the pair cultivated a sound which marked a new wave of high-quality electro and techno sounds, before amicably parting ways in 1999. Since then, The Advent has gone on to release on an array of imprints like Dystopian, Naked Lunch and Tronic to name a few. The Advent returns on Saturday 24th with Ramiro Lopez and OC & Verde. To mark the occasion, the Portuguese native has created a 60-minute blend of pummelling drums with lashings of electrifying percussion throughout - a taste of what's on his current sonic radar.

Mostly though, The Advent is known for his interpretation of what we call Techno. Ever since young Portuguese Cisco discovered Acid House in the London clubs he frequented, his journey has been about making his mark on the electronic music scene. Or, as he recently put it himself: “I’ve been doing this for quite a few years and I’m not going anywhere.” This sums it up pretty well; you won’t see Ferreira naked, shooting promo videos carrying a dog, or hear him publically worrying about the sincerity of the average EDM jockey. He’s everything about techno you’ve learned to love, without the circus you’ve learned to accept. Fresh out of college, Cisco’s hunger for sound landed him a job as assistant sound-engineer in several recording studios. There he learned about the art of translating feelings to frequencies, while at the same time recording various high profile artists from the world of Rock, Pop, Dance, and Reggae. When acid label ‘Jack Trax’ moved in next-door, Cisco started recording for the likes of Adonis, Fingers Inc, Marshall Jefferson, and Derrick May. These rendezvous sparked the inspiration for his first EPs on R&S and Fragile. In 1994 Ferreira signed a record deal for 12 EPs and 3 albums together with Colin McBean. This was the beginning of an era during which the duo set a worldwide standard for high quality underground Electro and Techno. They hit the world with a refreshing sound, both as The Advent, and ‘G Flame (Cisco) and Mr G’, the alias Colin is still using. Nowadays The Advent is a solo project, bombarding crowds around the world with its trademark raw, energetic sound. A sound that grants him yearly slots at festivals as Nature One, Awakenings and Bonusz, as well as regular shows in clubs as Berghain and Tresor in Berlin, Lehmann in Stuttgart, and Madrid’s Fabrik. He hasn’t given up cooperating with likeminded artists though! In 2007 he met Ricardo Rodrigues aka Industrialyzer, in whom he recognised an attitude similar to his own. They are both from Portugal, both self-made, and the both have a clear vision of what techno should sound like. Makarov was already in his 16 age amazed of electronic music and artists such as Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, CJ Bolland, Bandulu, The Advent, Afrika Bambaataa & The Soul Sonic Force... One year later he started practicing on his first turntables and in a very short period of time, he found his own technique of mixing, which was heavily influenced by early Electro Funk, Hip-Hop music & Turntablism. That's why his mixing style also consists of scratching and many more tricks and techniques with turntables. His mixing style was also a very unorthodox style in that time in the Czech Republic. Because of that, Makarov came into the attention of many party people and promoters. Thanks to his diligence and hard effort he gave out, he soon performed in some of the biggest events in the Czech Republic like Summer Of Love Festival, Apokalypsa, Citadela & Technomasters, as well as radio and television shows. Since 2011, he started producing his own music along with DJ Steen, based on a structure of a deep, massive bassline and strong sounds. Their first releases were signed on labels such as Naked Lunch, Mastertraxx & Focus Records. Supported and played by artists like Dave Clarke, Mike Humphries, Joey Beltram, Slam and many more... In October 2012, Cisco Ferreira aka The Advent discovered his talent and decided to give him an opportunity to release his tracks on his own label Kombination Research along with his best friend - DJ Steen. In this time Makarov has innovated his own vision of Techno and every day he continues to raise the style to a whole new level. In 2016 he is releasing album. Kroman Celik ist ein Projekt, welches von den zwei Venezianern Michele Fanutti und Federico Micolucci ins Leben gerufen wurde. 1990/ 91 fing Michele an, sich für Musik von Labels wie Plus8, Rave Signal, Music Man, Underground Resistance zu interessieren und Platten zu kaufen. Inspiriert von Technokünstlern wie Joey Beltram, Richie Hawtin, Daniel Bell, Robert Armani, began er als Jugendlicher genau diese Musik zu spielen. 1997 lernte er Federico, der damals noch ein Kind war, kennen. Zuerst teilten die beiden insbesondere ihre Leidenschaft für Fussball. Michi war es, der Federico in dieser Zeit für elektronische Musik zu interessieren und begeistern vermochte. Somit begannen die beiden 2002 gemeinsam Musik zu produzieren und hatten dabei viel Spass. KC, inspiriert von Underground-Sounds und deren Rhytmen, basierend auf Minimal-Techno, fingen an, als Djs Minimal Techno in einigen Clubs in Veneto zu spielen. Getrieben von dem Wunsch Musik zu kreieren und inspiriert von Reisen durch Europa, bei denen sie die Möglichkeit hatten, grossartige Künstler wie Rino Cerrone, Par Grindvik, Tony Rohr, Cisco Ferreira, Cari Lekebusch zu hören, entschieden sie 2005 Live-Sets zu spielen um ihre eigenen Produktionen zu zeigen. Sie verwendeten dabei Software und Drumachines und ergänzten und bereicherten ihre Dj- mit Effekten und Samplers. 2006 und 2007 spielten die beiden dann an der Biennale in Venedig. Sie sind inspiriert von Detroit-Techno und dem typischen napoletanischen Groove. Insbesondere interessiert sie die Suche nach und die Verwendung von neuen Sounds, welche wir aus unserem täglichen Leben kennen.
