Pastor Kevin DeYoung is back again with another explainer video. This one is on the doctrine of impassibility. I got far too many requests from you nerds asking me to do another response episode. We will figure out if DeYoung is clearly Reformed or passionately confused. CreditsHost: R.T. Mullins (PhD, University of St Andrews; Dr. Habil. Director Andrew DeYoung has always had an eye for awkwardness ("Pen15," "Our Flag Means Death," and "Dave"), but with his debut feature, "Friendship," he goes from TV's quirky corners straight to the deep end of the cringe pool. You want relatable pain, emotional chaos, and jokes so uncomfortable you laugh, wince, and maybe break out in hives? Look no further. With a cast including Tim Robinson, Paul Rudd, Kate Mara, and Jack Dylan Grazer, "Friendship" is the rare buddy comedy that leaves you feeling equal parts seen, unsettled, and surprisingly moved.DeYoung joins Mike DeAngelo on the latest episode of The Discourse. It was clear he's still riding the high from sharing his first feature with audiences at TIFF. "[The screening] went incredibly - more than I could have ever imagined. I've been in a theater that's laughing like that, and that wasn't necessarily my goal." Deyong said. "Of course, I wanted people to find this funny and interesting and whatnot, but to hear people laugh at that level was really a surprise."READ MORE: ‘Friendship' Review: Tim Robinson Is Riotously Hilarious In A24's Absurdist, Nightmare-Fueled Cringe Comedy

In this episode, Jim Burgen and Jesse DeYoung from Flatirons Church pull back the curtain on leadership transitions, developing leaders from within, and the power of trust in executive roles. They reveal what's working—and what they've learned the hard way in navigating conflict, prioritizing staff health, and the role of sabbaticals in sustaining long-term leadership. Segment 1: • Losing Focus: DeYoung warns that modern Christianity is missing the mark on the basics. • Bait and Switch Tactics: Campaigns like He Gets Us alter Jesus' message and dilute the Gospel. • The Great Commission Is Bigger Than You: We've made it too individualistic—time to recalibrate. Segment 2: • A Quasi-Commission? DeYoung warns that drifting from the Gospel's centrality distorts our mission. • Course Correction Needed: Have we overcomplicated or misapplied Jesus' final command? • Stay on Track: Let's resist the drift and return to the true heart of the Great Commission. Segment 3: • Canadian Minister Rejects ‘Savior'—this reflects a growing movement to soften Christianity. • The Seeker-Sensitive Trap: Avoiding talk of sin is an unbiblical strategy to avoid offending people. • Truth Hurts, but Heals: Jesus didn't sugarcoat His message, and neither should we. Segment 4: • A Pastor Who Doesn't Like the Word ‘Savior'? What Bible is he reading? • Twisting Theology: This minister prefers his own definition of Savior—problematic at best. • The Real Stumbling Block: The Gospel is offensive because it confronts sin—but that's exactly why we need it. ___ Thanks for listening!
