Ev'Yan is here to help you liberate yourself from shame and step into your erotic power. She's here to help you ask the big questions. Questions like...Why does our sexuality often get put last in our lives? Why is it the last frontier we look to liberate? What are the common blocks we face to erotic embodiment? How do we cultivate more pleasure, sensuality, and express it through our movement? These are the topics Ev'Yan Whitney, my wife, and I dive into in this special edition of the podcast. We cover so much in this episode, from healing your body image to using organic movement to release inner blockages keeping you stuck in your body.Physical freedom cannot be complete without addressing how we embody our sexuality. As Ev'Yan says, your erotic power is your birthright. Pleasure is your birthright.I hope this conversation helps you open yourself to embracing more of who you are and how you move, from everyday sensuality to the most intimate expression of your erotic energy. To learn more about Ev'Yan's work follow her on Instagram @evyan.whitney and check out her website at https://evyanwhitney.com/

Before we jump into my conversation with Tristan, I want to take a few moments to share an important piece called: Dildon’t Disrespect Black Femmes: Our Personal Experiences With Wild Flower Sex Shop This piece, written collectively by Ev'Yan Whitney, Ashleigh, Karmenife, La'Shaunae, VenusCuffs, and Cameron Glover, is an important account of ongoing exploitation and abuse that these Black Femmes experienced at the hands of Wildflower Sex shop. It's also an important invitation to us all to think about who we critique and who we harm when we take "ethical" stances against certain companies or practices, especially that ultimately then benefit our own interests. You can read Tristan Taormino's additional thoughts about the sexuality field and the ways work in this field continues to be devalued and exploited, particularly for people of color and other people who are marginalized. We must all do better. This impacts our abilities to be present with each other. This impacts our abilities to be in our bodies, experiencing pleasure, building a most just world. It matters. Read these accounts by Ev'Yan, Ashleigh, Karmenife, La'Shaunae, Venus Cuffs, and Cameron and take a few moments to reflect. Tristan is here this week! And it's EPIC. Oh how I love chatting with Tristan. And you're about to hear why - we GO places in this 90 minute conversation of lusciousness. It all started when I asked Tristan to come on the show to tell us about her ultra personal new memoir which dives deep into her childhood, growing up with a gay dad, losing him to AIDS, and even part of a memoir her dad wrote about his life. In fact, if you want to read snippets and get exclusive updates, support Tristan's Patreon: patreon.com/tristantaormino But, in this episode we also talk about fat phobia, changing and aging bodies, capitalism, white supremacy, the sexuality field, and much much more. I can't WAIT for you to hear it all. Patreon supporters - head to patreon.com/sgrpodcast to hear my bonus chat with Tristan. We talk about the ethics of triangulation in poly relationships courtesy of a listener question! If you aren't a supporter, I'd love your financial support to help keep the show going. When all we’ve ever known is unhealthy, imbalanced examples of sexuality, how can we even begin to step into our power as self-actualized, sexually liberated individuals? For episode 57 of the Good Life Revival Podcast, I invited Ev’Yan Whitney of Portland, Oregon, to join me for a conversation about how we might start to heal as a culture from the toxic and repressive social norms we’ve inherited about sex and gender.Ev’Yan describes herself as a sexuality doula, which is to say that she offers holistic guidance for women as they navigate the difficult transitional process of owning and defining their sexuality, on their own terms. I shouldn’t have to tell you that this is very radical work, and Ev’Yan knows better than most just how dangerous it can be to stand up to the patriarchy and boldly proclaim your truth.Although Ev’Yan’s work is focused on individuals who identify as female, I asked her to come on the show specifically in the hopes of opening up this conversation about sexual liberation to men.I think our culture, and especially my generation, is ready to begin unpacking some of the more “toxic” elements of this rather nebulous thing we call “masculinity,” and I firmly believe that men like me really need to learn from women educators like Ev’Yan if we have any hope of defining a healthy, balanced sexuality for ourselves.Believe me when I say you’re not going to like what you find as you unpack the baggage you inherited from civilization regarding sex, but I hope that Ev’Yan’s example will inspire you to ask these hard questions of yourself anyway, and not shy away from the especially ugly, painful, or embarrassing answers that you might find tucked deep down in the darkest corners of your psyche.Ev’Yan has documented many of her stories and experiences with women over the years through her excellent podcast, The Sexually Liberated Woman. You can find out more about her and the services she offers through her website, EvYanWhitney.com.Stream and download episode 57 at the top of the page, or listen through iTunes, Stitcher, or Google Play.Don’t forget to subscribe through your podcast app, and leave a review & rating if you dig it!All music you hear on the podcast was created by me, Sam Sycamore. “Alameda”, the theme of this episode, was written and recorded specifically for this installment of the show. The tune at the end is called “Hummingbird Drinks Jewelweed Nectar”, and was recorded in September 2018. It will be featured on my forthcoming album Bliss, set for release later this year. Stream and download it for free over on Patreon. As always, if you get some value out of the work that I put into this podcast, and you’re able to translate that value into financial capital — as little as $1/month — I hope you will consider becoming a supporter over on Patreon! Your contributions allow me to devote quite a lot of my time and energy to this work. I would love to do even more, with your help.

Ev'Yan Whitney on sensuality, the erotic, and body hair I've followed Ev'Yan on Instagram for quite a while and been enchanted by the ways she shares and expresses herself there. As soon as she said yes to being on the show, I was excited. We talk about sensuality and how Ev'Yan struggled with the ways sensuality and sexuality were bound together culturally. Her process of teasing out her sensual self and separating it from her sexuality has opened her up to so much more pleasure and the erotic. What happens when you start sharing your sensual self with the world, like so many people recently did with the #SensualSelfieChallenge? And how does Ev'Yan tend to her self-care through the senses? We also talk about body hair and how women's bodies have been policed for capitalism purposes, plus navigating non-monogamy in her long-term partnership with her husband. Plus, Patreon supporters - If you support the show at the $3 level and above, Ev'Yan and I talk about sensual rituals. Can selfies be sexually empowering? Myisha's newest guest thinks so! is a sexuality doula and sex educator who wants to create a world with more sexually liberated women. Ev'yan is the creator of the blog and hosts her own podcast called . She and Myisha talk about what it means to be sexually liberated and Ev'yan's own experience of stepping into her sexual power and how she helps women do the same.
Today I’m talking to Ev’Yan Whitney- sexuality doula, educator, and creator of the Sensual Selfie Challenge. As a sexuality doula, Ev’Yan helps women and femme identifying people who want to transition out of a life of sexual shame, dysfunction, and confusion, to step into the full expression of who they want to be. She stands for women who want to have full ownership over their bodies - hell yes! Ev’Yan got her start as a popular blogger writing about fashion, love, recipes, and lifestyle - who could no longer blog about her seemingly perfect life due to some distressing issues in her marriage. Struggling with intimacy as a result of a purity contract signed when she was young, Ev’yan decided to be open about her experience and found that there were many women who could relate. Through honesty and vulnerability and courage, Ev’Yan built up her own tribe of open-minded individuals seeking sexual freedom - overcoming disapproval to fully stand in her truth, and allowing her marriage and career to thrive. This episode highlights a powerful journey of being seen, and helping others to be seen as well. Our experiences are not singular, they are often shared. If we humanize ourselves and share our imperfections and struggles, we can achieve joy. Thank you so much to Ev’yan for being fully herself, and using her experience to teach and inspire others. More Radical Lessons in this episode: — Because sex is so taboo, many of us are disconnected with this part of ourselves. — We can step out of the stories that were passed on to us, from religious beliefs to cultural myths, and into the full expression of who we want to be as sexual beings. — Don’t be afraid of proclaiming that you use pornography as a way to get off, it’s a tool like any other for your sex life. — When we explore the parts of ourselves that need attention, we have the power to really nourish others on the same journey. — We have a desire for our struggles to be witnessed, and today we have that power to create our own visibility and be seen through community. — Shame can make us feel alone and isolated, and we can’t let it allow us to hide. We can use our voice to reclaim our power and stand in our truth. — When we take our sexuality back into our own hands, we can redefine what women’s sexuality means from a cultural perspective. In Feb 2015, I did a 5-day symposium consisting of 25 interviews with powerful and inspiring women sharing their stories and advice for transcending life’s struggles, fears and doing it their own way. We got so much incredible feedback on the interviews, we decided to turn it into a podcast. At times during the interviews when you hear us refer to the series or interviews that have already been done, keep in mind these interviews have been repurposed and may not follow the original order – but stay tuned because we’ll be airing four each month on Mondays alternating with fresh new episodes called “Ask Liz” every Wednesday. Ev’Yan Whitney is a writer, sensualist, & sexuality doula. With honeyed prose, she waxes poetic on sex, orgasm, self-care, & honoring your natural cycles at her digital sanctuary, sexloveliberation.com. She also helps doula women into a full expression of their divine erotic & sensual selves via intimate coaching. When she’s not knee deep in sexual liberation (be it hers or others’), she’s likely booty dancing to Beyoncé in her kitchen. She’d love to connect with you on Instagram& Facebook. In this episode, Ev’Yan shares: 1. Sex as a force of communion, creativity and energetic exchange 2. Honoring the body’s cycles and personal sexual practice 3. How to choose birth control that feels right for your body

It’s one of those timeless power words, that gives me goosebumps by just thinking about it. A desire for freedom of what we are -sexual beings! Dive together with me and my juicy guest Ev’Yan Whitney into this topic of finally setting your sexual being free. Once and for All. Ev’Yan is a sex doula. She created a digital sanctuary for the sexually free, or those who want to be.
