Is humility a lost virtue in our selfie-obsessed world? What does it mean to be truly humble in a world that constantly demands self-promotion? This week, we grapple with this important question, examining how the pursuit of self-esteem can easily morph into self-idolatry. We'll explore the Christian perspective on humility, asking: Does embracing God's sovereignty absolve us of responsibility? As we dive into the meaning of humility, dissecting how our culture evolved into this obsession with self can that is now idol self-worship. We explore the true meaning of being humble, particularly within a Christian context. Does embracing humility and God's sovereignty absolve us of responsibility? We tackle this complex question and even lighten the mood by examining proud biblical figures who were ultimately humbled. Tune in for a thought-provoking discussion that will challenge your perspective on self and service.

The Denver Nuggets must have listened to this show. They beat the L.A. Clippers like I said they would. Connery and Cowboy DeHuff take a crack at hosting the show. More than a third of Americans said they secretly hate being asked to help other people move. Tourist in the Philippines was brutally attacked by a crocodile after climbing into its enclosure to take a selfie with it. Student rescued from Mount Fuji twice in one week - the second time was because he forgot his phone. A female passenger on a Southwest Airlines flight reportedly stripped naked and defecated on her seat mid-flight. Why is everyone talking about '100 men and a gorilla' right now? The NFL fined the Atlanta Falcons $250,000, their defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich $100,000, for the Shedeur Sanders NFL draft prank committed by Ulbrich's son, Jax.
Mercifully, Liverpool finally became mathematical Premier League Champions once and for all to all but wrap up the season.Arne Slot sang Jurgen Klopps name after the game as red (and blue) flare smoke surrounded the stadium. An amazing job from Slot to win in his debut season, but a title that reflects even better on Jurgen Klopp as he seemed to see the vision before anyone else. You'd be forgiven for thinking Salah was simply aura farming and trying to create a celebration for the ages as he took a 'fans' phone and took a selfie with the crowd, but on closer inspection it seems that this was actually a new form of marketing that has seeped in to the beatiful game.Just before Spurs rolled over and allowed Liverpool to score their 15th goal against them this season, Ange Postecoglu had some questions about what the big fuss surrounding 5th place was this year. The Copa Del Ray El Classico final did not disappoint as Real Madrid crashed out at levels never previously seen before, with probably lengthy bans and a lot of transfer movement to follow in the fallout. We look toward the Cathal derby as PSG take on Arsenal in the first Champions League semi final leg.Support the showWant to support us and also get some sweet bonus exclusive pods? We're back live this Monday, but in the meantime.. Imagine being on a hijacked plane, staring at a guy wearing a bomb belt. What do you do? If you're Ben Innes, you smile and ask for a selfie with the hijacker. Yep, this actually happened. The photo, which resurfaced online, helped authorities confirm that the bomb was fake—but Ben didn’t know that at the time! It's been a helluva week for the news cycle and our social feeds - Katy Perry's been on Amazon's first, girls only, space trip (for exactly 11 minutes), Aimee Lou Wood has taken to Instagram stories to call out an off colour joke about herself on Saturday Night Live and everyone has taken to ChatGPT to generate extremely specific and fairly ugly blister packed dolls of themselves. Stuck between which to cover, we decided to dig into it all.In this week's episode, hosts Ione and Gina take apart everything wrong with the Blue Origin rocket trip that took an all female crew into space on the 14th April including the environmental impact, classism implications and faux feminism the journey's being marketed as. After the break, the pair get into the cringe inducing AI created dolls so many of our peers are posting on the Insta as well as the disheartening SNL impersonation that's caused distress for The White Lotus actress Aimee Lou Wood.Support our work and become a Polyester Podcast member
In Episode #151, Jethro starts with a story of a woman looking for “The Perfect Selfie” at a swanky Los Angeles art exhibit featuring 12 very large and expensive pieces of…well…art. What could go wrong, we ask? Just a slight adjustment to line up the perfect selfie. Lean back just a few inches, and…well…something went very, very wrong. Then, Lindsay tells us a story proving that politicians with inflated egos and stupid decisions are nothing new. This story goes back to 1917 from a German Foreign Minister who devised the perfect plan to keep America out of World War I. And we all know how well that idea worked! Take those selfies and fire up the bratwurst! Episode #151 is a barn-burner! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Bryan Kohberger goes on trial this summer for the fatal stabbings of Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20 in Moscow, Idaho. The four University of Idaho students were found dead on November 13, 2022. Kohberger refused to plead to the charges in an Idaho state court, so a not guilty verdict was entered on his behalf. Prosecutors filed a large amount of information about evidence they plan to present to the murder trial. On March 17, deputy prosecutor Ashley Jennings filed information about four exhibits she intends to file to show that Kohberger had bushy eyebrows at the time of the murder. This is now a key focus after a surviving witness in the house where the students were murdered described seeing a man with "bushy eyebrows" leaving the property just after the murders. What does this all mean for the state's case? Will the defense have to change their strategy? And what does Kohberger's selfie tell us about his state of mind...?
