CORE is not your average hard rock band. Formed in 2003, hailing from South Dakota they are sure to be the next big thing to come out of the Midwest. For fans of Coheed & Cambria, Alter Bridge and 10 Years, CORE approach songwriting honestly and are dedicated passionate musicians. This power trio provides a tight rhythm section that produces a brutal sound, balanced by tender yet powerful vocal harmonies reminiscent of Layne Staley. Equal parts heavy riffs and delicate acoustics, CORE's music is emotionally charged and unique. They have opened for popular national acts SHINEDOWN, SEVENDUST, ALTER BRIDGE, CANDLEBOX, BUCKCHERRY, POWERMAN 5000, SALIVA, ORGY, SAUL, VRSTY, TRAPT, RED, SAVING ABEL, POP EVIL, HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD, EVE TO ADAM, CANDLELIGHT RED, SEBASTIAN BACH, EVAN'S BLUE, NEW MEDICINE, CAVO, DAYS OF THE NEW, SEASON'S AFTER, WES BORELAND (of Limp Bizkit, and Black Light Burns), THE DREAMING, CINDER ROAD, DROPPING DAYLIGHT, & CHRIS VOLZ as well as many others. Fall of 2023 will see the release of new music by CORE who have a devoted national following &are currently in support of their much anticipated 4th Album. "Broken Heart Syndrome (Deluxe Edition)" is an ambitious 21 track double disc offering that was unleashed worldwide on Black Friday 2019. Originally released in 2015, the band wanted to redo the album independently. The result is a blistering 120+ minute rocker featuring the original 11 tracks in a much punchier and in your face mix, as well as acoustic versions of each song stripped naked to their purest form. As of this release, the response has been more than 900,000 YouTube views with almost 20% of those coming from the song "Daydream Junkie" which premiered on June, 15th 2020. In 2018 the band was featured in Amazon best selling book “Underrated Rock Book: The 200 Most Overlooked Albums 1975-2015”. In November 2021, CORE signed a sync licensing representation deal with five time Grammy-nominated producer and music supervisor, Gary Calamar and Laurel Canon Music Licensing. Gary has overseen music on some of the most acclaimed and popular shows on television including “True Blood”, “Six Feet Under”, “Dexter”, “Entourage”, “Weeds”, “House” and “Man In The High Castle” (Amazon). Gary's current projects include “Titans” (HBO Max) and “Three Body Problem” (Netflix) and recently completed “Cobra Kai” (Season 3, Netflix) and “Uncle Frank” (Amazon) written and directed by Alan Ball. Previously, CORE has independently released "St. Judas Day Parade" in July, 2010 which is featured in the aforementioned Amazon best seller. The singles "Hate Me Harder", Dig", "Live Forever" and "You're So Fake" received nationwide airplay on active rock and college radio stations. In 2007, CORE's debut album "We All Fall Down" earned rave reviews from TAXI & cdreview.com, citing the songs "Eisoptrophobia", "Confession", and "Calling John Coffey" as favorites. All albums are available everywhere digital music is streamed and sold. Physical copies available thru coretunes.com.

We all know songs hold a lot of power. When they pair with iconic scenes from film and television, they become etched in our memory; and sometimes elevate a piece of music to the stuff of legend. Think Green Day's 'Good Riddance' in the final moments of Seinfeld, Underworld's 'Born Slippy' in Trainspotting, 'Don't Stop Believin'' by Journey, in The Sopranos… And the person that places these songs in just the right moments, is a music supervisor. Back in 2012 I asked Gary Calamar to Take 5. He's a music supervisor for shows like Six Feet Under, True Blood, Dexter, House, and Entourage. He's the one who has made scenes sing, and brought some truly beautiful sounds to TV and film. It was a conversation I loved then, but has never made it's way onto the podcast, until now. From Peter Gabriel to Sia, this is a powerful reminder of the magical marriage of sound and vision. ‘Season Of The Witch [Ft. Donovan]' - Karen Elson ‘Me And The Devil' - Gil Scott-Heron ‘Cold Wind' - Arcade Fire ‘My Body Is A Cage' - Peter Gabriel ‘Breathe Me' - Sia

Abby Posner has been a working musician in Los Angeles for the past 16 years. She is best known for her ability to play nearly any instrument that she can lay her hands on, twisting genres, and pushing the boundaries of folk and roots music. If you have seen Abby perform live, you know she can play a mean lead-blues guitar solo, or throw down a complex Earl Scruggs banjo riff. You also may have spotted her playing drums, mandolin, or bass while using her looping pedal. In addition to her versatility, she puts passion and soul into everything she plays. This CalArts music graduate has composed music for commercials/TV, films, and radio shows all over the globe (including Old Fashioned, The Fosters, This American Life, The Art of More, and Last Tango in Halifax just to name a few). She also has music placed in commercials and TV shows all over China, Sweden, The UK, and Australia. Posner appeared in two episodes of GLEE on season four playing banjo and guitar, and the Freeform show Famous In Love playing banjo. In 2015 Posner performed live on KCAL 9 news and Good Day LA playing original songs. Posner has scored three films (Across Land Across Sea, Through Their Eyes, and award winning short Animation Elizabeth Sees) while playing and touring with her indie folk band Abby and The Myth. In 2019 Posner will be a principal role in a Bank Of America commercial for the Ken Burn’s PBS Country Music Documentary. Posner formed her project ‘Abby and The Myth’ in 2015 and they have taken LA by storm with their catchy indie folk songs. The band released their EP Ghosts and Frames April - 2015 and have been touring nationally. They have had several residencies at the famous Hotel Cafe in Hollywood, and in 2017 released a new full length record titled When You Dig A Well. After signing with Gary Calamar’s licensing company, Laurel Canon, Abby and The Myth have gained recognition in the LA music scene. abbyposner.com

The book is packed full of great photos and testimonials from a wide range of artists, all championing the local vinyl dealer.
