Welcome to 'The Avrum Rosensweig's Show' NORTHERN ISRAEL REPORT. In this episode, we will hear the incredible story of Shayna Paquin, a mother of seven, in the city of Sefat, Israel who was faced with the ever-present threat of rocket attacks. Shayna, together with her friend, Clara Levy and their organization, 'Sparks to Life' partnered with Torontonian/Israeli, Shmuel Bowman and 'Operation Lifeshield', took matters into their own hands realizing there were not enough bomb shelters for the most vulnerable—young children. In a remarkable show of resilience and determination, they set out to raise over $1 million, with the help of The Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County. With those funds, they purchased 50 bomb shelters for Sefat's schoolyards, providing a lifeline for those with nowhere to hide. Today, we dive into their journey determining what drove these warriors, the challenges they faced, and the lives they changed in the process. Stay tuned for a powerful conversation about courage, community, and the unwavering spirit of a mother and friends, determined to protect the children of their city.

I was flipping through Facebook, trying to find compelling strangers, individuals I didn't know, as potential interviewees. I enjoy meeting someone, getting to know them online, as if we bumped into one another in a shopping plaza and discovered mutual interests, and a conversation blossoms....maybe even a friendship. Shayna was that person. I was intrigued by her description; a wife, a mother of seven, lives in Sefat, a mystical place, a woman with a strong Jewish awareness, singer, writer, collector of knives and teapots, volunteer building bomb shelters for pre-school environment. So when we talked and I discovered her lovely disposition and character, and her articulate way, I felt as if I had found the right 'stranger'. I say this, because now I want to be friends with her. That is a success. Have a listen. Shayna is worth listening to....much to learn and hear! Am Yisrael Chai.

Singing Success to Jewelry Brilliance: Dani Paquin on Creative Fulfillment, Community Building, and Two Decades of Agapantha Jewelry

Margo is joined by Jewelry Designer Dani Paquin. Dani founded Agapantha Jewelry in April of 2004 after 6+ years of living as a touring singer-songwriter. While it was an incredible, dream fulfilling time, people don't love paying for music and the hustle was unsustainable. Between tours, Dani started working for a couple of designers, assembling jewelry and found that it was fun, creative, she was good at it, and people were willing to pay for it. She did music and jewelry for a while, semi-retired from music, opened an adorable vintage shop in Brooklyn, and eventually found her way into the full time flow of entrepreneurship. In 2010 she moved back to her home state of California and Agapantha has been headquartered in Torrance (Los Angeles County) for the past 14 years. In that time, the style of jewelry has changed dramatically and landed where it is currently - delicate, modern, layering jewelry - handmade in her production studio using primarily sterling silver and 14k gold filled materials.   Margo and Dani discuss: Her  journey from music to crafting exquisite, delicate, and modern jewelry How she built a successful business through innovative strategies, combining wholesale, retail, and unique events Diversifying offerings so all the eggs aren't in one basket The future of her brand as she ventures into fine jewelry The intricacies of running a creative business The importance of customer interaction and the challenges of navigating tough economic times Hiring a team and the importance of finding people that are better than you The incredible community she's built through initiatives like "Flash Sale Friday" and the Agapantha VIP club And more   Agapantha is carried in boutiques all over the world, including the Agapantha showroom. Dani's business model is fluid, allowing for change and flexibility, but combines wholesale, retail, online, and events including activities such as piercing, laser engraving, and forever jewelry.   Connect with Dani Paquin: www.agapantha.com www.instagram.com/agapanthajewelry www.tiktok.com/@agapanthajewelry   Connect with Margo:  www.windowsillchats.com www.instagram.com/windowsillchats www.patreon.com/inthewindowsill

Traditional breast prosthetics can be hot, heavy and sticky. They typically require special bras or camisoles with pockets and can't be worn for weeks after surgery. Knitted Knockers are soft, comfortable, beautiful and when placed in a regular bra they take the shape and feel of a real breast. They are adjustable, washable and can even be worn while swimming. Our special volunteer knitters provide these FREE to those requesting them” Please visit the Knitted Knockers website, Knitted Knockers Homepage for all the information that you need.   This webpage is especially helpful for information on approved yarns and color information: Yarns and colors Very Important: Please note that neutral colors are preferred.  If you want, you can use bright colors on the bottom of your knocker, but the top of it needs to be in a neutral color.  Patterns: So many choices!  Please go to this section to pick and download your (free) pattern: Knitted Knockers Patterns.  Hint:  The Bottoms Up Knocker for Double Point Needles pattern works great with magic loop too…and has the easiest “start” to your knocker! The world of couture designers during the Gilded Age and the Belle Epoque went far beyond just the designers themselves.  Houses such as Worth, Doucet and Paquin and many others created the stunning gowns and dresses worn by both Europe's and America's moneyed elite.  But the network of milliners, hairdressers, perfumers, and even shippers and tax agents all made up the larger network that created this uniquely interdependent world.  Author Dr. Elizabeth Block (Dressing Up: The Women Who Influenced French Fashion, MIT Press) takes us deep into the Parisian fashion world of the late-19th century for a fascinating look at how these fashions were made, how much they really cost, how they were sold, and how they were shipped back to mansions on Fifth Avenue.  Discover why the House of Worth is the most well-known today, as well as some of the contributions of houses lesser known today, such as Maison Felix.
