Mi'gmaq entrepreneur Victoria LaBillois (BA'91, MBA'04) is the owner of Wejipeg Excavation Inc. and co-owner of Wejuseg Construction Inc, and oversaw the completion of a major wind park in Gaspesie, Quebec, where the companies trained and engaged over 100 Mi'gmaq tradespeople.   Victoria has served both the First Nation and federal public service, working at the Band, regional, and national levels.  She is currently serving as Vice-Chair of the National Indigenous Economic Development Board, and represents the National Indigenous Economic Development Board in the development of Canada's first National Indigenous Economic Strategy. In addition to advocating for and facilitating conversations at the highest levels around economic reconciliation, she is all about giving back to her community, serving as a mentor and coach to Indigenous women and helping youth build skills around financial literacy. Tonight we welcome someone back to our podcast, Sarah Lamos. Why is Sarah back you might ask and the reason is very easy to understand. Sarah recently completed a very gruelling 110 KM Ultra Trail race in Gaspesie Quebec. A very muddy and wet course with intermittent downpours at night but nothing would stop Sarah from achieving her goal of finishing. We talk extensively about what one needs to do to train for such an event. Plus we ask about her equipment, her diet and the friends she met along the way. How much her family and support group meant to Sarah at every checkpoint. Not many people can do this type of course with insane elevations in those conditions but Sarah did and she wasn't going to be stopped. Fly Fishing International Certified instructor Joannie De Lasablonniere has instructed over 100 women to fly fish since launching her business in 2016, La Peche Au Feminin. When she's not teaching women, she's introducing the sport to youth ages 12-18, and leading them on fishing trips from the Gaspesie to the Keys.
