As 2024 comes to a close, you might be reflecting on your financial goals and the progress you've made. Many people view progress as a linear checklist of milestones to hit, but regaining control over your finances is far from straightforward. Focusing only on the end goal is discouraging, and that creates a mindset that is unsustainable for lasting change, especially when it comes to how you think and feel about money. In this episode, I encourage you to reframe how you view your financial journey and the progress you've achieved this year. I'll discuss why the linear approach to progress can be limiting and introduce you to my lily-pad progress method, which leads to more sustainable success. Often, it's easy to overlook the small steps and skills you've gained, but those incremental behavioral shifts are fundamental to generating lasting change. Take a moment to consider what you can do now that you couldn't do just a week, month, or quarter ago. Celebrate your wins and recognize how far you've come on your financial journey. Listen in to learn more about the lily pad progress approach and hear about these key topics… [01:36] Pitfalls of using a linear approach to tracking progress [06:52] Benefits of using the lily-padding progress method [12:30] The importance of celebrating wins and acknowledging growth Tune into this episode of Money Files to learn how to reframe how you think about the progress you've made toward reaching your financial goals. Nick Kypreos, Justin Bourne and Sam McKee begin the show sharing their reactions to the Maple Leafs trading away Timothy Liljegren to San Jose, Toronto's history in drafting prospects, the long-term outlook of the Leafs' second line with Max Pacioretty, John Tavares and William Nylander, and Nylander's ice-time cut down. Then, Sportsnet's Jason Bukala (34:30) joins the guys to share his view of Liljegren's usage since being drafted in 2017, how scouts feel about their players being moved, if the path to a Stanley Cup includes drafting and developing prospects and the potential need to bolster Toronto's centre position. The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.
We're excited to have Jackson back on the show this week, and he's pumped to be here! It was, by all accounts, an epic show. Songs:Geese - “2122 Live”King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - “The Dripping Tap”Jay followed up that show with a wild weekend in Richmond. He's been playing with a group called The Ken Demith Collection, and they recently performed a show at The Lilly Pad Restaurant in Richmond, VA. It's episode TWO HUNDRED! And what a two hundred episodes they've been, from public speaking, to Developer Advocacy, to our recent focus on the API space, it's been an incredible journey, and we want to thank you our listeners above all, for sticking with us, and inspiring us to stay curious, and keep seeking out those in the DevRel world and beyond, so we can all learn from them together. Today's guest couldn't be more appropriate, as we feel the wonderful Steven Coochin sums up so much of what we do here on the Fireside podcast, from his bold ideas, to his empathetic outlook and his staunch commitment to an open source world. Steven is the chief innovation officer at Lilypad. A returning guest of the podcast, he joins us with quite the update on his endeavours. Lilypad, as Steven describes it, is the way he and his team intend to democratise AI, doing off-chain compute, with on-chain guarantees. I*if you've ever dabbled in creating an AI product (and we have), you'll know the costs associated can be prohibitively expensive, due in large part to the heavy duty GPUs required. Well Lilypad acts as a sort of Airbnb for GPUs, leaving you free to build your product, instead of messing around with cloud providers who can barely support their own systems, let alone yours. They've recently exploded in popularity, and Steven talks us through his whiplash of seeing their user number collect a few extra zeroes at the end. And of course, it wouldn't be a Fireside with Voxgig episode without Richard and Steven diving into the DevRel aspects of his work, and how integral an open source model is to the heart of Lilypad. Thank you again to all of our listeners, and lastly to our wonderful guests. Here's to a hundred more! One of our most watched videos on YouTube is about the life of a craft beer sales rep, and strangely it's something we've never explored at length on the podcast before. Micah Overton of Lilypad, a "CRM crafted for beverage suppliers and distributors to stay organized and sell more liquid", joins Cee to talk about a day in the life of a beer sales rep, the difference between self-distributing and having distributor partners, how a sales rep decides where to go every day, how to approach current or potential clients, his experience with wholesalers, the pros and cons of the 3-tier system, some fun stories from his days as a sales rep, and why and how technology can help beer sales teams do their job. Micah provided some killer Florida brews for the session - BarrieHaus Beer Co. Bublina Czech-style Pilsner, Angry Chair Vodnik Czech-inspired Pilsner, Coppertail Hop Quest Cold IPA, and Hidden Springs Ale Works A Hot Dog Is Most Definitely A Sandwich. With 20 percent of the world's fresh water, Michigan plays a large role in the future of maritime mobility. Recreational boating, commercial shipping, ports, and harbors serve a crucial role in the economic vitality of Michigan's coastal communities and the Great Lakes. . That's why the Michigan Economic Development Corporation recently launched the Fresh Coast Maritime Challenge to help decarbonize the state's waterways. As part of this grant, Lilypad Labs, a startup based in Holland, Mich., launched the Lilypad, a sharable, 100 percent solar powered boat that provides a quiet, sustainable, and pollution-free boating experience. . To learn more about the importance of sustainable recreational and commercial boating, we sat down with Justine Johnson, Michigan's Chief Mobility Officer, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, and Dana Lowell, CEO, Lilypad Labs, to discuss how the public and private sectors are working together to decarbonize the Great Lakes waterways. . If you'd like to get involved, the Office of the Great Lakes is seeking a maritime strategy for the state of Michigan. Learn more at www.michigan.gov/egle. . We'd love to hear from you. Bedtime Stories Podcast Fairytales and Folk Tales from the Lilypad for kids
A 2016 story re-released form the vaults. An original story, dedicated to the best dog ever, for Tales from the Lilypad by Marlene Wurfel.
Lily Pad began in 2022, thanks to a dream by Greer, SC residents Benjamin and Jennifer Tice. As active foster parents in the Upstate, the Tices wanted to give vulnerable foster youth a soft place to land. Lily Pad creates stunning before-and-after transformations within DSS offices across the state, creating living room-like settings for children and youth awaiting foster placement and giving them a place to comfortably rest, play games, do homework, and distract themselves from the difficulties of their everyday life. Lily Pad has transformed 19 spaces in South Carolina and hopes to create a Lily Pad in all 46 counties in South Carolina over the next few years.
In today's episode, my friend and artist Kathleen Hassan and I connect some dots around how grief earlier in life can show up in day to day reactions. We also share how we move from fear to faith. At the end of the podcast, Kathleen and I offer a prayer for you...no matter where you are at on your journey. May it touch your heart. sandyalemian.com Kathleen's website is: kathleenhassan.com
Often times when children are removed from their homes and brought to a social service agency or law enforcement office, they are not placed in a foster home immediately, and have to spend hours, a whole night, or even days sitting on an uncomfortable office chair, a lumpy couch or maybe an air mattress tucked under a desk. No privacy, and no dignity.Jennifer Tice and her team at LilyPad: A Soft Place to Land have taken steps to end this practice in their home state of South Carolina, and soon throughout the country. Lily Pad volunteers are building comfortable living spaces, within the state's Department of Social Service offices, for children to feel loved and valued during an uncertain time. Each Lily Pad space is unique to the DSS office it is installed in. You can click HERE to see a “before and after” of what a Lily Pad space is like (or visit this link: https://www.lilypadinc.org/lilypadroomsbeforeandafter)On today's episode of Fostering Change, you will learn, as Rob Scheer did, more about Jennifer and her family's road to foster care, and why the name “Lily” is so important to them. All Lily Pad funding comes from volunteers and good humans like you - our listeners. Care of Magical Shippers: A Harry Potter Ship Culture Podcast
What if, instead of James, Lily falls for Sirius? How would James react to his best friend dating the girl he's pined over for years?
Have you ever been in a situation where there's a clear need? Have you prayed about that, asking God to meet the need, only to be surprised when God asks you to be the one to provide the solution?! On this week's edition we meet Jenni and Ben Tice, founders of Lily Pad Inc. There's a shortage of foster homes in the USA, and it's difficult to place children quickly. Often children and youth must stay overnight in the offices of their care workers, while waiting for placement in a foster home. Image how that feels – already traumatised and now having to sleep on a blow-up bed or under a desk in a strange office. Case managers do their very best; but Jenni and Ben, experienced foster parents themselves, realised there could be a better way. They knew God was calling them to do something about this issue, and Lily Pad was born. With the help of volunteers, Lily Pad (a donation-funded charity) reveals God by establishing and maintaining a safe space for young people entering the foster care system. They create comfortable, secure, and familiar rooms where children and youth can have a soft place to land before they are placed into a foster home. This organisation is revealing God in extraordinary ways, using very ordinary means. As you listen to our conversation you'll be encouraged to allow God to use you in your ordinary, wherever that may be. There are no excuses – when God calls, we answer. Are you willing? Presented by Sharon Tedford. Produced by Gary Dell. Find out more about us at www.anchor.fm/god-in-the-ordinary and www.61-things.com/gito

Lily finds this old folktale about the origins of wooden shoes, The Netherlands, and gnomes to have a fascinating and different way of looking at our relationship with nature. It's rewritten and rearranged for Tales from the Lilypad by Marlene Wurfel. “The Legend of the Wooden Shoe” is adapted from a 1918 version in English by William Elliot Griffis in Dutch Fairytales for Young Folks. Original music composed by Reid Alexander Whelton for Tales from the Lilypad. How do you know when you've truly arrived at your destination? No matter how certain we feel with any partner, job, home, is everything just a lilypad to get to the next one? Tory recently went through some past journals during a time of major milestones in her life, including two anniversaries and a birthday. It brought up a lot of stuff, including dread and shame. If you've ever had trouble letting go of the past, being content with your present, or having something heavy on your heart, Tory kindly invites you into this raw and real solo pod. And she also shares a wild story of how her life intersected with her current partner, almost a decade before meeting him. ABOUT THIS FEELS IMPORTANT This Feels Important is an exploration into the hairy, scary, weird, and sometimes orgasmic journey of navigating our ever-evolving relationships to self, others, and the world around us. Your hosts, Kari Keating and Tory Dube - along with a lineup of epic guests - open the floor for honest discussions about the taboo feels (sex! money!), the painful feels (miscarriages! divorce! grief!), and the fun feels (psychedelics! sex again!) that are inevitable, necessary and freaking important as we all navigate the highs, lows and in-betweens of the human experience. #thisfeelsimportant SHARE YOUR FEELS WITH KARI AND TORY Find the show on Instagram Share with Kari Share with Tory CREDITS Podcast edited and mixed by 51 features.
