We do every aspect from research to recording, it is a DIY labour of love and craft. Missing Witches is entirely member-supported, and getting to know the members of our Coven has been the most fun, electrifying, unexpectedly radical part of the project. These days the Missing Witches Coven gathers in our private, online coven circle to offer each other collaborative courses in ritual, weaving, divination, and more; we organize writing groups and witchy book clubs; and we gather on the Full and New Moon from all over the world. Our coven includes solitary practitioners, community leaders, techno pagans, crones, baby witches, neuroqueers, and folks who hug trees and have just been looking for their people. Our coven is trans-inclusive, anti-racist, feminist, pro-science, anti-ableist, and full of love. If that sounds like your people, come find out more. Please know that we've been missing YOU. https://www.missingwitches.com/join-the-coven/

Jason Pierce's longstanding coda to his previous band, Spacemen 3, have been ploughing the maximalist space rock field for decades now, and their high point, Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space, is my second favorite album of all time. After the excellent and very underappreciated, And Nothing Hurt in 2018, Pierce has now opted for a full-on Phil Spector wall of sound assault, touching on most parts of the bands history, to mainly great effect.

Album Recommendation of the Week: Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space - Spiritualized (1997)It's time for the Frankenstein's Monster of an episode which is Jim's Music History. After the technical failure of Jim technically failing to podcast well - we have this very crafty version of the episode. Basically Jim deleted his side of the episode and he has spliced himself into the rest of the original recordings. So apologies for the little hiccups and volume changes throughout. Every effort has been made to make it sound as real smooth and very cool as it always does but some imperfections have endured. This is the last episode of Season 3. However we will have a few bonus episodes coming up over the next few weeks in between Season 3 and 4. There'll be a couple of surprises in the interim as well - so look out for those. Finally, we'd all like to say another thank you to everyone who has been listening throughout these last 3 seasons. We hope you enjoy what we have coming up and we look forward to the future. Because it's not possible to look forward to the past.Take care. Stay safe. Playliste:Richard Strauss: Also sprach Zarathustra / Einleitung, oder Sonnenaufgang (1896) (Underlægningsmusik fra filmen ‘2001: A Space Odyssey', 1969)Bernard Hermann: Prelude / Outer Space/Radar (fra soundtracket til ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still', 1951)The Tornados: Telstar (1962)The Byrds: Mr. Spaceman (1966)Pink Floyd: Astronomy Domine (1967)The Rolling Stones: 2000 Light Years from Home (1967)Steve Miller Band: Space Cowboy (1969)Gil Scott-Heron: Whitey on the Moon (1970)Harry Nilsson: Spaceman (1972)Sun Ra: Space Is the Place (Film-version, 1973)Captain Beefheart: Observatory Crest (1974)Carpenters: Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft (1977)Kraftwerk: Spacelab (1978)Mark Snow: X-Files (Main Title, 1993)David Bowie / Pet Shop Boys: Hello Spaceboy (1995)Radiohead: Subterranean Homesick Alien (1997)Spiritualized: Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space (1997)Janelle Monáe: Sally Ride (2013)Foto: A&M, Blue Thumb, Parlophone

Well, we fucking did it. We went ahead and recorded a show without Kevin. The only adult “Somebody Likes It” has really known thus far. I wasn’t sure that Ryan and I could hold the motherfucking jalopy together, but god was willing and the creek didn’t rise (and with a liberal dose of help from Mark) we got it done! WE DID IT!!!!! (Cue America the Beautiful at an ear-splitting volume. And little shiny shit falling from the ceiling) We discussed “Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space” by Spiritualized. Along with the best damn album title ever, this thing is a pretty solid listen! I guess we made fun of Ryan’s choice of snacks (again) and started getting used to recording this thing in a new garage. Oh and wait. I forgot about this week’s “A Few Minutes With”. Well, not as much forgot as punched myself in the god-damned forehead in an attempt to forget. And here’s where stuff gets kind of complicated. See, I had just assumed that Kevin, with his DAD HUMOR and SADISTIC HUMOR had, as his final pick for a month or two, given us the hilarious-for-half-a-listen-two-summers-ago “What Does The Fox Say”, to get in one last sadistic swing. Well, turns out, Mark thinks that shit is HILARIOUS. So, I guess that seals the deal. Mark is just as much the voice of Adulthood as Kevin ever was. Except Kevin never had an animatronic fox that danced around his garage and sang the song. So I guess Mark has him beat there. So, my pick next week. We will get back to the 70’s with Shuggie Otis and his incredibly influential album “Inspiration Information”. At some point a Gwen Stefani song will pop up. See ya then…
