Send us Fan MailSoul Therapy with Joanne Zagonev: Healing the False Self Through Psychology & TanyaIn this episode of From The Inside Out Podcast, with Rivkah and Eda, we introduce clinical psychologist and author Joanne Zagenov, whose book "Soul Therapy" integrates psychodynamic/attachment theory with Tanya. Joanne shares how growing up in a culture that prized intelligence, feeling like an outsider, and early experiences of “not good enough” shaped her pursuit of psychology and later Chassidus through Rabbi YY Keselman, leading to deeper healing. The conversation explores the true self vs false self, healthy authenticity vs narcissistic “do what feels good,” secure attachment and defenses, and the Tanya's animal soul and godly soul, emphasizing a God-directed life alongside responsible therapy. Joanne discusses sensitivity, anxiety as a coping mechanism, splitting and transference, practical Chassidic tools for low self-esteem, shame, envy, anger, and anxiety, and offers guidance on estranged family relationships.EPISODE SPONSORSSwimplyThis episode is powered by Swimply — and with summer here, the timing couldn't be better. They Hear the Doubt Before You Finish: 5 Moves to a Certain Tone

Recruiting Conversations

You can have the perfect words. The script can be tight, and it still falls flat, because people hear the hesitation. They feel the doubt underneath your voice, and they react to your tone long before they process a single word you say. Here's what I want you to walk away with today. People respond to how you say it before they respond to what you say, and certainty in your delivery isn't a personality trait you were born with. It's something you build. I'll give you a five-move framework I call Certainty Is Built, Not Faked. Episode Breakdown [00:01:22] The Definition That Explains Everything: Recruiting Is a Transference of Energy For a long time I thought the magic was in the words, in finding the perfect line. Then I started paying attention to what was happening on my calls, and people weren't responding to the words at all. They were responding to whatever sat underneath them. When I was certain, certainty transferred. When I was unsure, that came through too, no matter how clean the script was. Two leaders can read the identical words off the identical page, and one fills the room with energy while the other drains it. The script was never the difference. What was getting transferred underneath it was. [00:02:14] Move 1: Start With Belief Certainty in your tone runs downstream of certainty in your conviction. A leader without a clear, exciting vision has nothing to transfer, and the voice always tells the truth the words are trying to hide. So before you touch delivery, settle your own belief. Are you sure about where you're taking people? Are you sure this is a great place to land? If the answer wobbles, that's the first thing to fix, because no amount of vocal technique covers a leader who isn't sure. [00:02:54] Move 2: Anchor to the Future Everything that excites you lives out in front of you, the growth, the milestone, the thing you're building. So before every call this week, name one specific future outcome that lights you up and open the call carrying it. Start flat and the whole call runs flat. Start anchored to something that moves you and the energy is real, and real energy is the thing that transfers. [00:03:21] Move 3: Slow Your Pace Down Certainty sounds slow and grounded. Hesitation rushes, and it scrambles to fill every silence. So leave some space. Stop talking just to plug the gap, because the person who's comfortable with a beat of silence is the one who sounds in control. Pace is one of the loudest certainty signals you have, and almost nobody manages it on purpose. [00:03:48] Move 4: Fix the Room People feel your energy through whatever channel you're on, and the channel eats some of it on the way. On a virtual meeting especially, the ordinary everyday version of you drains the room, because the screen flattens everything by default. So you add the energy back on purpose. Raise it a notch, use your hands, sort out your lighting and your audio before the call ever starts. That isn't vanity, it's clearing the obstacles between your certainty and the other person feeling it. Treat the camera like a recruiting stage instead of a casual call. [00:04:30] Move 5: Pursue With Certainty The way you chase tells people everything about your belief. Here's a number that should stop you cold. A company left more than 3,000 voicemails and got about 12 callbacks, and not one of them was a fit. A voicemail mostly says please call me back, and that's a low-status, uncertain move. Certainty dials, then redials within the hour, then dials again before the day is out, without ever leaving the needy message. How you pursue is part of your tone too. [00:05:05] Why It Works Human beings process tone before content. We're wired to read the emotional signal first, to decide is this person safe and is this person sure, before we ever weigh the information itself. So your tone arrives first and frames everything that comes after it. Certainty and doubt are both contagious, which is the whole idea behind transference, and it's the reason your inner state matters more than your script. And anchoring to the future works because that excitement isn't manufactured, it's real, and real emotion carries in a way performed emotion never will. You're not learning to fake confidence. You're learning to connect to something true and let it ride through your voice. [00:05:52] Your Small Win Tonight Before your next call, write down the one thing about your business that has you fired up this week, then say your opening line out loud over and over until it sounds as sure as you feel about that one thing. That's the win for tonight, getting your voice to match your belief in the first 30 seconds. [00:06:15] Three Bigger Moves This Week Record yourself on a real call or a role play and just listen, for hesitation, for pace, for energy, because you can't fix a tone you've never heard, and once you can hear it you can coach it in everyone around you. Fix your virtual setup, the lighting, the audio, the energy you bring to the screen, because when you model that, your whole team's calls start landing better. Then kill the voicemail habit and replace it with dialing and redialing, which protects your team's time and shows them what it looks like to pursue without begging. Key Takeaways People respond to how you say it before they respond to what you say. Certainty isn't a trait you were born with, it's built. Recruiting is a transference of energy and passion. The script was never the difference, what gets transferred underneath it is. Certainty in your tone runs downstream of certainty in your conviction. The voice always tells the truth the words are trying to hide. Certainty sounds slow and grounded. The person comfortable with a beat of silence is the one who sounds in control. The screen flattens your energy by default, so on video you add it back on purpose. Treat the camera like a recruiting stage. How you pursue is part of your tone. Certainty dials and redials, it doesn't leave the needy voicemail (3,000 voicemails, 12 callbacks, zero fits). You're not learning to fake confidence. You're learning to connect to something true and let it ride through your voice. If you want help getting your delivery to match your belief, reach out. Psychoanalysis On and Off the Couch
The Analyst as Transference and Developmental Object with Carla Neely, PhD (Washington, DC)

"As analysts, we have our own development - as humans, we have our own development. My view is that the work of analysis, if the developmental piece is present, requires some relatively sophisticated developmental capacity on the part of the analyst. The work is intimate, and the patient is going to know something of our inner lives, despite the fact that we work hard not to let our own selves interfere with the work. I think to truly trust the analyst, the patient has to believe that the analyst can tolerate knowing all of him or her. If you think about it, how many times have you heard patients say that nobody in the world quite knows him the way the analyst does? There's going to be something in that connection that doesn't happen anywhere else." Episode Description: We begin by outlining the distinctions between serving as a transference vs. a developmental object for a patient. Carla writes about "affective honesty," which concerns the analyst's willingness to have their heart be experienced by a patient as malevolent or compassionate based on the patient's needs. We consider similarities between child and adult work, the differences between the 'corrective emotional experience' and being a developmental object, and her sense that a patient's "intimate experience can bring structural change." She presents a clinical example where her own authentic sadness helpfully enabled the patient to recognize her own - "we take on what the patient can't bear." We close with Carla sharing her personal analytic journey and stating, "I expect I will keep searching, as that is what analysts do."   Our Guest: Carla Neely, PhD, adult and child psychoanalyst, guest faculty, Cincinnati Psychoanalytic Institute.  Past President, Association for Child Psychoanalysis. Past faculty member at the Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis and the Washington, Baltimore Psychoanalytic Institute. Topics of her publications - sublimation, creativity,  developmental object, working through, and therapeutic action. Recommended Readings:  Hurry, Anne, ed., 1998. Why You Have a Toxic Relationship With Money (and how to heal) - Carl JungCarl Jung was a Swiss psychologist who believed that the way you handle money—whether you're hoarding it, wasting it, or terrified of it - is actually a mirror reflecting your deepest feelings about yourself. Jung famously said that until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it 'fate.' This is why you might keep hitting the same financial walls, make the same financial mistakes and blame it on bad luck or a bad economy. It feels like an invisible force is sabotaging your progress, making sure you stay stuck in the same spot no matter how hard you work.  In this video, we will explore how to identify these patterns and heal your relationship with money, all from the philosophy of Carl Jung.So here are 6 ways you could heal your relationship with money, all from the philosophy of Carl Jung01. See Money as Your Life Energy02. Identify your Financial Shadow03. Confront the "Money Complex"04. Find your archetype05. Use Active Imagination06. Withdrawing Your ProjectionsI hope you enjoyed listening to this podcast and hope these 6 ways you could heal your relationship with money, all from the philosophy of Carl Jung will add value to your life.Carl Jung, together with Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler, is one of the 3 founders of psychoanalysis which is a set of psychological theories and methods aiming to release repressed emotions and experiences - in other words, to make the unconscious conscious. Jung was born in Switzerland in 1875 and died in 1961, leaving behind great works in the fields of psychiatry, anthropology, archaeology, literature, philosophy, psychology and religious studies. Jung had Freud as a mentor for a good part of his career but later he departed from him. This division was painful for Jung and it led him to found his own school of psychology, called analytical psychology as a comprehensive system separate from psychoanalysis. If classical psychoanalysis focuses on the patient's past, as early experiences are very important in personality development, analytical psychology primarily focuses on the present, on mythology, folklore, and cultural experiences, to try to understand human consciousness. One of the most important ideas of analytical psychology which Jung founded is the process of individuation, which is the process of finding the self - something Jung considered an important task in human development. While he did not formulate a systematic philosophy, he is nonetheless considered a sophisticated philosopher - his school of thought dubbed “Jungian philosophy”. Its concepts can apply to many topics covered in the humanities and the social sciences. A good part of his work was published after his death and indeed there are still some articles written by him that to this day have yet to be published. Some of his most important books are: “Psychology of the Unconscious”, “Man and His Symbols”, “The Archetypes and The Collective Unconscious”, “Modern Man In Search of a Soul”, “The Psychology of the Transference”, “Memories, Dreams, Thoughts”, and “The Relations Between the Ego and the Unconscious”. Besides being a great writer and a researcher, he was also an artist, a craftsman and even a builder. His contribution is enormous and there is a great deal we can learn from his works.

Dr. Frank Yeomans is an Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is one of the developers of Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP). In this episode, he offers a deep dive into the theory and clinical practice of TFP as a treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder. Drawing on object relations theory, Dr. Yeomans explains how BPD is understood through the lens of identity integration and split internal representations, and walks clinicians through the full arc of TFP treatment — from thorough assessment and diagnostic feedback, through contracting and frame-setting, to active intervention using clarification, confrontation, and interpretation. He also addresses the clinical use of countertransference as a window into the patient's internal world, signs of therapeutic progress, and how object relations principles can be applied even outside a formal TFP frame.Published On: 4/16/2026Duration: 40 minutes, 21 secondsEarn CME for listening to this episode here.

Madlik Podcast – Torah Thoughts on Judaism From a Post-Orthodox Jew

Unlike almost every other major world religion, Judaism has absolutely no Pope—and the beautiful reason why is hidden deep in the Book of Leviticus. Rabbis today are "ordained." But the original system of rabbinic ordination—semikhah, the laying on of hands—collapsed almost 1,600 years ago. So how did rabbinic authority survive? In this episode of Madlik Disruptive Torah, Geoffrey Stern and Rabbi Adam Mintz trace the surprising story of how a simple biblical gesture—placing hands on a sacrifice—became the foundation for Jewish leadership and authority. "To come back to this idea of 'groaning' - I really like it because I think it's a good description of the work we do, but particularly because it refers to Antonio Ferro's concept of the absorbency of the frame, which I think is another way of referring to it, that the frame can take a little give and take, that there's something organic about it. It has a structure, but it's absorbent, it can move, it's alive. So that is a very important concept. I think a lot of younger analysts or psychotherapists who want to be inspired by psychoanalysis don't let themselves feel comfortable letting things happen first before they try and immediately intervene and feel that they have to have some kind of magical response to it."    Episode Description: We begin by unpacking the meanings contained in the metaphor of the 'groaning' analytic frame. Allannah speaks of flexibility, containment and "the expectation of misunderstanding." She shares the importance of the analyst having a sense of an internal frame which is then introduced to the patient and which contrasts with their assumptions of social relatedness - "Too much comfort in the relationship can lead to a pseudo-analysis." We take up the concept of the 'co-created' frame and touch upon the reflections of Aulagnier, Rothstein and Aisenstein. Allannah shares her thinking on the issue of charging for missed sessions and describes her reconsideration of her personal analytic experience with this. We close with a comment on the analyst's internal frame which enables them to "hear the patient in an out-of-the-ordinary way."   Our Guest: Allannah Furlong, Ph.D., a psychologist and psychoanalyst, is a member of the Société psychanalytique de Montréal. After serving on the IPA North American Editorial Committee, she was one of the original members of the IPA Committee on Confidentiality and organizers of the first interdisciplinary Inter-Regional Conference on Confidentiality. These collaborations led to the co-editorship of two books on issues of confidentiality in psychoanalysis. In addition, Dr. Furlong has written on the frame, missed sessions, informed consent in psychoanalysis, and the use of clinical material for teaching or publication. She has also written about the temporality of lovesickness, unconscious choice, and dehumanization as a shield against helpless openness to the other, for which she received the JAPA Prize for excellence in psychoanalytic scholarship. Her current research is on the subject-creating function of baby talk. Recommended Readings: M., Baranger, W., & Mom, J. 1983. Process and Non-Process in Analytic Work. Feeling Safe vs Being Safe in Therapy - How to Reference Non-Academic Resources In Episode 361 of the Counselling Tutor Podcast, your hosts Rory Lees-Oakes and Ken Kelly explore three vital topics for students and practitioners of counselling and psychotherapy: Firstly, in ‘Ethical, Sustainable Practice', Rory and Ken examine managing isolation in counselling practice, highlighting why counsellors may experience isolation, the impact of emotional labour, and the importance of maintaining professional connections. Then in ‘Practice Matters', Rory speaks with psychotherapist Claire Ratcliffe about the subtle but essential distinction between feeling safe and being safe in therapy, and what this means for clients and therapeutic practice. And finally, in ‘Student Services', Rory and Ken offer practical guidance on how to reference non-academic resources in academic assignments. Managing Isolation in Counselling Practice [starts at 03:29 mins] Rory and Ken reflect on managing isolation in counselling practice, exploring the isolating nature of counselling work and how the emotional labour involved can take a toll if not proactively addressed. Counsellors often work alone - especially in private or online practice - reducing professional interaction. Confidentiality prevents therapists from sharing day-to-day experiences, contributing to feelings of disconnection. Emotional labour builds up over time and, without an outlet, can lead to burnout or compassion fatigue. Proactive self-care, social hobbies, and peer engagement are essential for maintaining emotional balance. Supervision and CPD groups offer vital opportunities for connection and support. Personal development through reflective practice helps therapists process isolation and stay grounded. Feeling Safe vs Being Safe in Therapy [starts at 19:00 mins] Claire Ratcliffe joins Rory to unpack the nuanced difference between being in a safe environment and actually feeling safe enough to engage in therapy. A therapist may offer a structurally safe space, but clients may not feel safe due to past trauma or relational history. Feeling safe is a nervous system response developed through consistent, attuned, and non-defensive relational experiences. Transference may cause clients to project past harm onto the therapist - naming and exploring this supports healing. Emotional safety allows clients to express discomfort or anger - a sign of growth and nervous system regulation. Therapists must do their own reflective and supervision work to hold client projections non-defensively. The therapeutic process itself may not always feel safe. Even with a safe therapist, clients need time to build tolerance to emotional vulnerability. How to Reference Non-Academic Resources [starts at 44:52 mins] Ken and Rory explain how to correctly use and cite non-academic resources in counselling training assignments. Academic work should be referenced using primary academic sources (e.g. Rogers, Freud), not interpretations by tutors or websites. Resources like Counselling Tutor are useful for understanding theory but should not be cited as the original source. Counselling Tutor provides full reference lists for its materials, supporting students in finding and citing academic texts. There are exceptions: students can cite guest experts in CPD lectures, or books authored by Counselling Tutor. A dedicated reference guide is available at https://counsellingtutor.com/reference/ Understanding referencing standards supports academic integrity and successful assignment writing. The Story of the Blob Tree - Ian Long Interview – Rethinking Transference in Person-Centred Therapy In Episode 360 of the Counselling Tutor Podcast, your hosts Rory Lees-Oakes and Ken Kelly take us through this week's three topics: Firstly, in ‘Ethical, Sustainable Practice', they explore rupture and repair in counselling, looking at the inevitable ruptures that can occur in the therapeutic relationship and how recognising and repairing these moments builds resilience and strengthens the therapeutic alliance. Then in ‘Practice Matters', Rory speaks with Ian Long, illustrator and co-creator of the iconic Blob Tree, about the origins, evolution, and global impact of these powerful visual tools in therapy and education. And finally in ‘Student Services', Rory and Ken rethink transference in person-centred therapy, offering insight into how these dynamics show up during training and why they matter - even outside of client work. Rupture and Repair in Counselling [starts at 03:30 mins] Rory and Ken explore rupture and repair in counselling, emphasising that relational ruptures in therapy are not failures but essential opportunities for growth, learning, and repair. Key points discussed include: Ruptures are normal in therapy and can result from misattunement, transference, or triggering of past trauma. Common signs include client withdrawal, silence, defensiveness, or abrupt subject changes. Effective repair relies on naming the shift gently and being curious about the client's inner experience. Understanding your own attachment and trauma patterns is crucial for managing ruptures. Repairing a rupture models emotional resilience and can deepen the therapeutic relationship. Supervision is essential for processing ruptures and supporting ethical, attuned practice. The Story of the Blob Tree – Ian Long Interview [starts at 23:20 mins] Rory speaks with Ian Long, the illustrator and co-creator of the Blob Tree, about how this simple yet profound tool has supported emotional expression worldwide for four decades. Key points from the interview include: The Blob Tree features a group of non-verbal, genderless characters that reflect different emotional states and interactions. Originally created for youth work, the tool has become widely used in counselling, education, and social work. It facilitates expression for those who struggle with words, including children, non-verbal individuals, and trauma survivors. The success of the tool lies not just in the illustrations but in the skill of the practitioner asking open-ended, exploratory questions. The Blob Tree and related tools are now used in over 150 countries and across various disciplines, including business and humanitarian work. Ian reflects on his creative partnership with the late Pip Wilson and the lasting legacy of their work in fostering emotional literacy. Rethinking Transference in Person-Centred Therapy [starts at 44:58 mins] Rory and Ken challenge the notion that transference has no place in person-centred practice, encouraging students to explore how it shows up in training and personal development. Key points include: Carl Rogers acknowledged transference, though he chose to respond to it rather than interpret it. Transference can occur even outside of client work - in group projects, PD groups, and skills practice. Feelings like the urge to rescue, impress, or withdraw may signal countertransference and warrant reflection. Journaling, peer reflection, and personal therapy can support deeper understanding of relational dynamics. Bringing transference into PD groups (not as blame, but as exploration) helps develop emotional awareness. Recognising these patterns early prepares students for ethical, attuned work with future clients. Together, we explore the seismic shifts happening in the mental health field and why so many therapists are feeling disillusioned with the profession's current direction.Kathleen shares her journey from running a successful group practice for over 30 years to founding AMHP as a response to what she sees as the profession's failure to truly heal people. We dive deep into the mind-body-spirit approach to healing that challenges the traditional "neck-up" therapy model, discussing why medication isn't the answer and how the counseling profession has lost the trust of the public. This episode explores critical questions about professional integrity, the impact of woke ideology on therapy, and the rise of coaching as an alternative to traditional counseling. Kathleen doesn't hold back in her critique of how our field created the "gender affirming care nightmare" and social justice warrior mentality that's dividing rather than healing families. Whether you're a mental health professional questioning the status quo or someone seeking genuine healing, this conversation offers hope for a new paradigm in mental health care.Kathleen Mills, LPC-S, CEAP, CIMHP, is a seasoned therapist and mental health professional with over 30 years of experience. Founding LifeTree Counseling in 1992, she employs a holistic "Six Pillars" therapeutic approach that addresses comprehensive life wellness. As a spiritually-motivated counselor, Kathleen guides clients toward restoration and purpose with grace.Beyond clinical practice, Kathleen is passionate about supporting mental health professionals through PracticeMentors.us, where she conducts workshops and provides continuing education on business development, office operations, and ethical considerations for practitioners. In 2022, Kathleen co-founded the Association for Mental Health Professionals (AMHP) with Phillip Crum. AMHP emerged as an alternative professional organization for mental health practitioners seeking a platform that aligns with traditional professional and spiritual values, offering a new professional home for those who feel marginalized by mainstream medical organizational policies.A graduate of the University of North Texas with a Master of Education in Counselor Education, Kathleen continues to mentor associates and advocate for principled mental health practice. What would you choose to write in your final letter to someone? This Sunday, we'll explore Paul's final letter ever written before his execution, the letter of 2 Timothy. In it we will discover what it means to take the message of Jesus personally, so it shapes not just what we believe, but how we love, live, and lead every day. As we open this powerful book together, we'll find the words of a man who has run his race, kept the faith, and wants to pass on something eternal. His letter reminds us that following Jesus is not merely an idea we agree with, but a life we embody. The heartbeat of Church on the Rock is to help people discover how they can LOVE God and LOVE one another, LIVE with passion, purpose and freedom, and LEAD others to this same experience in Jesus. The “experts” say that we are about to experience the greatest transfer of wealth from one generation to the next that world has ever seen. In fact here's exactly what they say; “Gen X and Millennials are set to inherit a staggering $124 trillion in assets over the next 23 years in what many call America's Great Wealth Transfer.” Although I am or not at all sure you or I will see any of that, I am certain of this, $124 trillion is nothing compared to the transfer made on our behalf over 2,000 years ago! The real question though is this, will we be faithful to ensure that the message of the Gospel gets transferred to the next generation, or will it die with us? In this episode, Dr. David Puder is joined by world-renowned psychologist Diana Diamond, PhD to explore devaluation, narcissism, attachment, and transference in psychotherapy. Together they examine why patients with narcissistic personality traits or narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) often devalue their therapists, how dismissing and disorganized attachment styles shape treatment, and why these cycles can be so painful for clinicians. Dr. Diamond shares clinical insights from Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP), including how to recognize subtle and overt devaluation, how to hold boundaries, how to think psychodynamically about these behaviors, and how to respond without reenacting the patient's internal object relations. The discussion also highlights the role of trauma, reflective functioning, countertransference, and the deeper tragedy of pathological narcissism. In this week's show Lian is joined by Serdar Hararovich. Serdar is a Relationship & Secure Attachment Specialist offering integrative, attachment-based coaching and healing. He supports both men and women to heal early attachment wounds, establish inner security, reclaim their deepest self, and cultivate the emotional skills required for deep, soulful, and secure love. Serdar works with a wide variety of individuals - including, but not limited to, therapists, relationship coaches, and other practitioners. The common thread among his clients is a deep desire to go beyond the surface - people tired of quick-fix techniques and oversimplified approaches to healing. Those ready to do the kind of work that awakens their deepest potential - allowing them to master the art of true intimacy and experience the kind of love that transforms everything. In this episode, Lian and Serdar explore what it really means to honour the differences between men and women without turning them into prescriptions or performances. They touch the gap in how partners want to communicate between dates, why anxious attachment can pile five issues into one talk, and what withdrawal can really signal. They look at emotional safety in plain terms, the pull of projection and transference, and how simple, steady awareness shifts the tone of a relationship. They look at what actually helps: recognising difference without blame, letting curiosity replace judgement, and using relationship as a mirror for self-knowledge. Listen if you've ever wondered why men and women so often miss each other, felt uneasy naming masculine or feminine traits, or wanted a way to see those forces as sacred, human, and alive rather than stereotyped. “The goal is freedom. The goal is your own happiness. The goal is joy, and it's hard to have as much joy and lightness as you can if you're holding onto old resentments.” Simbi Hall, Storyteller, Screenwriter, Director, and Producer, sits down with Hoffman Podcast host Sadie Hannah to share her life journey of healing. While Simbi completed the Process in 2022, her journey of self-reflection began at the age of seven, when she had her own subscription to Psychology Today. From a young age, she tried to analyze things in her head and figure things out. Somewhere within her, she felt there was something she needed to address. For Simbi, one of the main transformations at the Process was the shift in her relationship with her father. Raised by her mom, her nana (technically her step-great-grandmother), and a dog “who helped raise” her, her father was absent. Simbi felt abandoned by him. She could count on her hands the number of times she's seen him in her life. As Simbi says, you idealize what you don't have. She grew to resent him and what she could never have. It's been “the homework of her life” to attempt to resolve the pain of her childhood. Her birthday is always right around Father's Day. Each year, this has been a big trigger for Simbi. This past year, just a few years after doing the Process, Simbi had a very different birthday experience. She discovered that she had let go of her deep resentment toward her father. Listen in as Simbi shares wisdom learned from doing the homework of a lifetime. Be sure to listen for Simbi's mic-drop moment at the end. More about Simbi Hall: Simbiat Hall is an award-winning Nigerian-American filmmaker who divides her time between LA and NYC. Born in Chicago and raised in Virginia, Simbi graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts with a double major in film and dramatic writing. She is also a graduate of AFI's “Directing Workshop for Women” and the Bill Cosby-sponsored “Guy Hanks/Marvin Miller Screenwriting Fellowship at USC. Simbi is well-known for Long Story Short (2004), Bring It! Vegas Dreams and Disney Parks' Magical Christmas Celebration (2016). Follow Simbi on Instagram at @simbihall. Listen on Apple Podcasts As mentioned in this episode: Daily Buddhist Practice Buddha-nature Buddha-nature in Hoffman terms: The Spiritual Self, or the Light that's within you. This is the foundation from which growth can evolve. The Divine Mother Positive Legacy: While much of the work of the Hoffman Process involves disconnecting from negative parental patterns, we also receive a positive legacy from our parents. This is also addressed during the 7-day retreat. Black woman tropes/stereotypes – What is Transference? A couple of great quotes from Simbi: “If you're open and seeking, you can get guidance from a stop sign.” “If you don't do the work, life adds Miracle-Gro to the belief systems.”

Stan Asks: How can we protects ourselves from not feeling down during and after spending social time with anxious and / or depressed people because they express anxious or depressing thoughts to us. It seems to me that we must start to believe the distorted negative thoughts that the anxious or depressed person transmits to us, so we start to feel the same negative emotions the other person feels.   1. Thank you very much You know, doctor, one of the problems I have had since childhood was that I always worry about being alone and losing the people I love. My mind becomes conditioned and a lot of negative obsessive thoughts come to my mind, even the smallest irrelevant and random external events create a sign and increase stress But I will not stop trying But I am very eager to know what you think about the mind and the irrelevant and random patterns that it relates to negative events and how to get out of this cycle You can even put this as a podcast or clip on YouTube, I think it would be very welcome because I have seen many people who have this problem
