Will he stay or go?Juan Soto agrees to a $765 million dollar deal with the Mets.  Is it time for baseball to step in and institute a hard salary cap?Jason “Puck” Puckett breaks down the Seahawks win over Arizona with Tim Booth, Seattle Times and Curtis Crabtree, FOX 13 for their weekly Ground Puck Seahawks Podcast.  It was a much needed win for Seattle as it drastically improves their playoff chances.   It was a must win game for Seattle and they got the job done. How much does a week change the perception of the offense after their performance on Sunday?  Is anyone calling for Ryan Grubb to be fired this week?  Grubb made a subtle change to the running game that made a huge difference. Can it continue the rest of the season?Mike Macdonald's defense continues to shine as they dominated the Arizona offense.  Ernest Jones continues to make plays and watch his bank account grow.  Tyrice Knight is playing better and better as each week goes by.  What led to the Zach Charbonnet breakthrough? The next two weeks feature the Packers and Vikings, which game is more winnable?  What type of atmosphere should we expect on Sunday vs. Green Bay?Puck always wraps up the show with, “Hey, What the Puck!?” Puck reacts to legendary O'Dea football coach Monte Koehler winning his 394th game on Friday night and his fifth state championship.  His 394 wins ties him for the all-time wins record with the great Sid Otton of Tumwater.  Monte and O'Dea are the gold standard in Washington State.

Puck and Jim both agree that they don't think and don't want to see Dickert removed, nor do they want him to take another job. The Cougars did make a move by firing their defensive coordinator Jeff Schmedding.  What will they do if Ben Arbuckle decides to leave?  He's been rumored for the offensive coordinator opening at Oklahoma.  The Seahawks won a wild game in New York and their defense was the story, especially Leonard Williams, who is playing at an all-time level right now.  The Seahawks sit at 7-5 and first place in the NFC West.  Despite the win, there was some negativity coming out of the game, in regards to their special teams and their offense.   Ryan Grubb is under a lot of fire from the fanbase, is it warranted?  How much is it play calling and how much of the blame is on the offensive line? The Ground Puck Podcast with Tim Booth, Seattle Times and Curtis Crabtree, FOX 13, joins Jason “Puck” Puckett to discuss the Seahawks crazy win over the Jets and they look ahead to the rest of the season.  They discuss the phenomenal play of the defense and the play of Leonard Williams.  The Ernest Jones trade might go down as the second best trade in franchise history for John Schneider.  They get into the issues in the red zone and short yardage situations with Ryan Grubb.  Can Grubb get to all they plays he wants if his offensive line can't block?  Five games remain in the season and the Seahawks will need to get to 10 wins on the season to win the division.  Can they get three more wins in the final five?   If they make the playoffs, what is the commentary about the decision to replace Pete Carroll with Mike Macdonald? Finally, “Hey, What the Puck?!” Puck says firing Jake Dickert would be the wrong move. On today's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by Tim Booth, Seattle Times and Curtis Crabtree, FOX 13 for the Ground Puck Seahawks Podcast.  Puck starts off the show without Jim Moore, who is out sick, talking bout the Seahawks win and that without a doubt it was a signature win for Mike Macdonald.  The Seahawks season was on the brink and they were able to pull off a great win on the road. Geno was great on the final drive and the defense looked like how we all thought Mike Macdonald's defense was going to look. Puck switched gears and talked about the Cougars loss to New Mexico and once again the defense continues to be an issue. Puck thinks a change needs to be made with their defensive coordinator and let Jake Dickert just call the defense for the final two games of the season. But, Puck could sense a loss was coming and it finally did. Tim Booth, Seattle Times and Curtis Crabtree, FOX 13 join Jason “Puck” Puckett for the Ground Puck Seahawks Podcast brought to you by Georgetown Brewery. All three agree that was clearly the best win of the season and one of the best wins for the Seahawks in the last several years. The defense was no doubt the story from the game, but the performance of Geno Smith, especially on the final drive was quintessential the “Geno Smith Roller Coaster” experience! Offensive line looked better with Abe Lucas back and Olu Oluwatimi playing center. However, as the three discussed, the running game is still very much an issue.  Devon Witherspoon was everywhere and just showed why he's such an unbelievable weapon for Macdonald.  The play of Tyrice Knight and Ernest Jones was phenomenal and illustrated why a move at linebacker was necessary. All of sudden the Seahawks have a legitimate shot to claim first place in the division next week.  Sports are dumb and terrific at the same time. Puck then returns and discusses the rest of the sports weekend with “Weekend Roundup.”   The dud that was the Mike Tyson/Jake Paul fight, however, the women's fight was incredible.  Are the Steelers now a legit Super Bowl contender?  Drew Lock can't catch a break and big deal the Bills beat the Chiefs. Prove it in the playoffs. Finally, “Hey, What the Puck!?”  Puck goes back to the Seahawks.  Sports are incredibly stupid and incredibly awesome at the same time. Most Seahawks fans and Puck included had written this team off, but they found a way to have a gutsy physical win.  A win that could very well define Mike Macdonald and the rest of the season.

If the Seahawks finish 6-11, what will there offseason look like? At that point, a rebuild should definitely be on the table for the Seahawks. The Seahawks need to revamp their offensive line, can they do that if they have too much money tied up with their skilled position players?Russell Wilson continues to shine for the Steelers, in fact, some in the media are already talking about Pittsburgh about being a sneaky Super Bowl contending team. If Wilson keeps this up he will win the NFL comeback player of the year. Things are unraveling in Dallas and Puck and Jim can't believe that Micha Parsons called out his head coach Mike McCarthy publicly!  Also, because Puck and Jim are degenerate gamblers that can't figure out how the Seahawks are only getting +6.5 against the 49ers. Lastly, Utah is upset about the officiating in their game with BYU. The AD of Utah was critical of the Big 12 and Puck says that the Pac-12 should call Utah immediately and try and lure them back to the conference! Tim Booth, Seattle Times and Curtis Crabtree, FOX 13 join Jason “Puck”Puckett for the Ground Puck Seahawks Podcast.  They discuss the chances of Seattle trying to avoid a 6-11 finish. Today's Daily Puck Drop with Jason “Puck” Puckett, welcomed Jim Moore, the Go-2-Guy, who joins Puck every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Also, Tim Booth of the Seattle Times and Curtis Crabtree of FOX 13 drop by for their Monday weekly show, Ground Puck Seahawks Podcast. Jim and Puck jump right into the Seahawks miserable loss and continue to just shake their head at how bad the Seahawks offensive line is. It is without a doubt the worst offensive line in the history of the organization and you can't really get all that critical of Ryan Grubb or Geno Smith because they can't get to any of the plays they truly want to run because of how bad the line is. Despite the struggles of the offensive line, Puck and Jim did resist their bet that they made in the beginning of the season where Jim bet Puck $250 dollars that Sam Howell would start a game this season and not because of injury.  Puck said he still feels confident in that bet, but he thinks the door is a little bit more open especially with the teams upcoming schedule. Speaking of that schedule, Puck points out to Jim that it's highly likely that they won't be favored in any of their remaining eight games. After talking about the Seahawks, they turn their attention to the Cougars, who will find themselves ranked in the top 20 of Tuesday's first College Football Playoff rankings.  ESPN analytics gives the Cougs a 17-percent chance of making the playoffs and if they win their remaining four games, that figure jumps up to 34-percent. Puck and Jim are reveling in the idea that they have shot to make it, but also acknowledge that it wouldn't be realistic if it weren't for the schedule they have played. However, Jim is not rooting for the Huskies at all. Jim doesn't want to see Washington beat Penn State or Oregon, even though it helps the Cougars resume. He'd rather have the Cougs just miss out on the playoffs. Puck thinks Jim is officially crazy. Puck goes back to the Seahawks as Tim Booth , Seattle Times and Curtis Crabtree, FOX 13 join Puck for the Ground Puck Seahawks Podcast.  Once again they focus in on the awful offensive line play and until that ever fixes itself, the team will continue to lose games like they did on Sunday to the Rams. They discuss the decision by Mike Macdonald to go for it on fourth down in overtime. Tim and Curtis liked the decision, Puck offered up an alternative and thought he should have trusted his defense more. What is going on with Connor Williams and why can't he snap the football anymore?  How much is that now affecting Geno Smith?Speaking of Smith, do the guys ever foresee a scenario where Sam Howell starts a game this season over Smith? The final eight games of the season will be tough and you can make a plausible argument that they won't be favored in those games. Lastly, why has the team been so sloppy this season?  That's a direct reflection on Mike Macdonald. Finally, Puck wraps up the show with “Hey, What the Puck!?” Cougar fans! Have fun with all the playoff talk. Revel in it. You never know who long it will last.  The team has put themselves in a position this season to give themselves a shot. That has been awesome to watch develop!

They also touched in on the behavior and sideline demeanor for Geno Smith.  You understand the QB is upset and frustrated but he has to behave better. He's the leader of the team. Despite the Seahawks losing in the fashion that they did, they did at times have a shot to take control of the game but self inflicted issues prevented them from doing so. The defense continues to be an issue and so far through eight games under Mike Macdonald they are no better than they were a year ago with Pete Carroll. After wrapping up the Seahawks, Puck and Jim turn their attention to the Cougs who defeated San Diego State over the weekend an no are ranked #22 in the country.  They didn't look great, but they did improve to 7-1 and will be favored in every game the rest of the way and have a great shot to go 11-1 and an outside, very outside shot of sneaking into the College Football Playoff discussion. Before Jim leaves, he and Puck make a $100 bet on the Steelers and Giants game on Monday night. Puck loves the Steelers because he claims Russell Wilson is now back after posting another cheesy music video with his wife !“Ground Puck Seahawks Podcast” with Tim Booth, Seattle Times and Curtis Crabtree, FOX 13 recap the Seahawks loss to the Buffalo Bills, 31-10. Issues still plague the Seahawks, they can't run the ball, they can't stop the run and they are sloppy and unprepared.  Why are the Seahawks having so many issues with the offensive and defensive lines and why are they so undisciplined? Did the boys feel like Riq Woolen made a great effort in preventing the Dalton Kincade touchdown?  Do they like the boy language being displayed from Geno Smith.  How far off is this football team right now because standings wise they are right there with all the other teams in their division. The Seahawks can't run the football because of their offensive line. How do they change their strategy with Walker?  They just need to start incorporating him into the passing game. Lastly, “Hey, What the Puck?!”  Puck focuses in on Jake Dickert's behavior toward John Mateer and Dean Janikowski at the end of the game. One of the worst they have seen from a defense in years.  Puck and Jim also were mad at Michigan for not beating Washington and they can't figure out how a program like Michigan can't have a QB!!What's the worst part of the defense?  is it the linebackers or defensive line?  Puck is not impressed with the linebackers.  So far, Mike Macdonald has not fixed the defense especially against the run.  How concerning is that especially with the 49ers looming on Thursday, which is probably a must win game for both teams if they want to make the playoffs. On Monday's Weekend RoundUp…Puck details the results of the Interbay Eagles, his son's youth football team.  The results of the college football weekend which saw Jonathan Smith covering the spread vs. Oregon.  Kalen DeBoer blows it against Vanderbilt and fans already pissed at him.  Miami and Cam Ward stormed back to beat Cal, which was a great site for College GameDay. “Ground Puck Podcast” w/ Jason “Puck” Puckett and Curtis Crabtree, FOX 13, Tim Booth Seattle Times. How in the world did the Seahawks lose to the lowly New York Giants?  The defense was completely outplayed and had no answer for the the Giants, despite Malik Nabers and Devin Singletary being out.  What is the biggest problem for the defense?  Is it the defensive line or the lack of playmakers at linebacker? The offense wasn't much better.  Ryan Grubb did not have a good day. Ken Walker managed just five carries in the game and just two in the first half. The Seahawks dropped back on 51 of their 58 plays. That just can't continue to happen if the Seahawks want to win games. The upcoming schedule is real pivotal for the Seahawks, starting on Thursday with  the 49ers. After that they head to Atlanta to take on an explosive Falcons offense and then it's back home to face Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.  The season has a chance to slip away real fast. Lastly, “Hey, What the Puck?!” Defense is still a problem and Mike Macdonald has yet to fix it. Rundown00:00 Puck and Jim jump right into the Seahawks game and why it was one of the worst performances in Seahawks history.  They recap the college football weekend.  They praise the great Jonathan Smith and Puck and Jim feel he should be the coach of the week because he covered the spread against the Ducks! 01:00:27 “Ground Puck Podcast” w/ Jason “Puck” Puckett and Curtis Crabtree, FOX 13, Tim Booth Seattle Times.  The Seahawks had one of their worst performances on defense in a number of years.  Why is the defense struggling so much to stop the run?  Are the linebackers playing well?  Defensive line still not getting a push.  Offensive line is still a mess and it doesn't appear to be getting better anytime soon.  Schedule is getting tougher and the next four weeks will determine if they get in or not. 01:45:05 “Hey, What the Puck!?”  Defense still a problem and Mike Macdonald hasn't fixed it…yet.

On Monday's, Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett and Jim Moore, former hosts at KJR,  discuss their weekend , including Jim's visit to Pullman and whether or not it's ok to buy your kids a half-gallon of booze? Jim and Puck can't figure out how the Cougars won on Friday night, but somehow they won the game, and they delve into the Mariners' playoff hopes and Puck tells Jim that he was wrong for rooting against them.  Because Jim and Puck are riding high on the Cougs, they put their money down on John Mateer winning the Heisman Trophy!   They switch gears to the Seahawks and talked about how they were able to win an ugly, sloppy game. Jim takes off to walk his dogs again, and Puck is joined by Tim Booth and Curtis Crabtree for their weekly “HawksNest” Show, where they breakdown the Seahawks win over the Dolphins.   The Seahawks were able to dominate the game on the defensive side, but how much is that because of the quarterback play for the Dolphins?  The season has been a pretty soft landing for Mike Macdonald and his new staff because they have faced Bo Nix, Jacoby Brissett and Skylar Thompson.  The season will heat up next week when they take on the Detroit Lions.  They turn their attention to the offensive line.  It played better at times, but Anthony Bradford has been a disaster and why has Christian Haynes not taken over at the spot yet?  Regardless of the opponent, the Seahawks are 3-0 and have a two game lead in the NFC West thanks in part to a number of injuries affecting the other teams. Seattle must take advantage of the situation and they currently are doing that. Jim Duquette, MLB Network Radio stops by to talk all things baseball.  They both marvel at Shohei Ohtani and Puck wonders out loud if he could get 60/60???   The Dodgers have the most pressure going into the season on them, but what are they missing and will that prevent them from winning the whole thing?  Who are currently the best teams in the AL and NL?  Jim's answer for the American League may surprise you and it will definitely anger you!  Jim and Puck discuss how the Mariners, if they don't get in, just completely blew a huge opportunity this season especially with how poorly teams like the Royals and Twins have played down the stretch.   Julio Rodriguez has turned his season around and a lot of credit has gone to Edgar Martinez. Puck asks Jim if Julio needs to ditch his personal hitting coach in Florida and just work exclusively with Edgar in the offseason.  Jim also offered Julio some advice to how he should handle this upcoming offseason. Lastly, Puck wraps up with, “Hey, What the Puck!?” Puck acknowledges that Chris Egan was right about him being a bad fan and wanting the Mariners to lose games so the season would end.   Puck also announces the release of the PuckSports Mobile App which you can now download from the app store for iPhone users.  The android version for Google Play will be out soon!  You can now listen to the “Daily Puck Drop” live on your phone daily starting at 10am! Rundown00:00 Jim is back from a weekend spent in Pullman for Dad's weekend! 13:03 Jim asks Puck if it's ok to buy your kids a half-gallon of booze?21:16 Cougs somehow win on Friday and they can't figure out how?!30:44 Seahawks win an ugly game and all that matter is that they are 3-039:52 Mariners' playoff hopes on life support 44:43 Jim and Puck place $50 bucks down on John Mateer winning the Heisman at 33-1 48:48 “HawksNest” with Curtis Crabtree & Tim Booth 01:19:16 Jim Duquette, MLB Network Radio, on all things baseball and the Mariners collapse 01:45 “Hey, What the Puck!?   Puck admits that Chris Egan was right…He was being a bad fan!

Today's, Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett  and Jim Moore celebrate the Cougs win in the Apple Cup!  Puck makes Jim give him credit for John Mateer!!! :). Jim and Puck speculate on if the Cougs can now run the table with their schedule. Curtis Crabtree and Tim Booth stop by to talk Seahawks on the “HawksNest.”   The top storyline is the play of Geno Smith and how that was without a doubt the best game he's ever played in a Seahawks uniform.  They touch in on the play of the offensive line and try to figure out what they can do to improve the play of their guards, specifically Laken Tomlinson and Anthony Bradford.  They praised the way that Ryan Grubb called the game and decided to target his best players in JSN and DK, as they combined to have 30 targets in the game.  One concern from the game was the play of the defense in that they allowed 185 yards on the ground.  Jim Duquette, of MLB Network Radio stops by for his weekly visit talking Mariners and other top MLB storylines.  Puck and Jim are amazed that the Mariners are still in the playoff race but Jim warns Puck and M's fans that if they barley make it in or barely miss the reaction and emotions from fans should be the same and that is that this year was a disappointment.  Because the division was so bad and Houston was so banged up the Mariners should have rolled the division and they did not.  Jim tells Puck that it's paramount that Edgar Martinez stays on as hitting coach next season because it's clear he's made a difference with the team and specifically Julio.  At the end of the chat, Jim says there is no way that Shohei Ohtani pitches in the playoffs, despite Dodgers manager Dave Roberts hinting at the possibility. Lastly, “What the Puck!?” Puck talks about his good friend Ian Furness being named the new television studio host for the Seattle Kraken. Rundown00:00 Puck and Jim can't stop smiling about the Apple Cup win! 06:26 Mateer is a stud 08:46 Puck tells Jim about the game experience and making it there by halftime 10:07 Jedd Fisch was a disaster as a head coach on Saturday 12:40 Back to Mateer…Give him the Heisman! :) 14:21 Can the Cougs run the table??19:52 Puck tells Jim about rushing the field with his kids 28:51 Husky fans should crush Fisch for the decisions he made Saturday 34:47 Jim is headed to Dad's weekend, and asks Puck for his tickets…Should Puck give him the tickets for free?39:31 “HawksNest” Curtis Crabtree & Tim Booth breakdown the Seahawks win 42:39 Geno Smith was sensational 45:55 Offensive line issues for the Hawks, but did they play better?51:51 Thank god for Ryan Grubb as offensive coordinator! 56:40 Defense took a step back 01:01:10 Jim Duquette, MLB Network Radio…M's are still alive01:05:49  Despite better play, Mariners ownership needs to be held accountable 01:11:41 Keeping Edgar Martinez around…They need him 01:14:45 Even if the Mariners make it, still is a massive disappointing season for Seattle. Laviska Shenault, Seahawks WR sits down with Ian to talk about his path to football, why he gave up basketball and what he's making out of this opportunity with Seattle. Plus, he breaks down the new kickoff rules, as that's where he's most likely to contribute.  There's a crowded wide receivers room this season and special teams will help sort out who makes the roster. The Mariners have played some pretty poor defensive teams this season and have taken advantage of it. We take a listen to what Jerry Dipoto had to say yesterday regarding the trade deadline, the moves they made, as well as Julio and JP's health. Ian applauds what they did at the deadline.  What are your favorite moves the Mariners made at the deadline?  The Olympics are underway and we discuss the best parts of the games. It takes a special love of the game to compete on that level, for the most part, when not being highly compensated. Gregg Bell pops by to tell us what he's seeing in the Seahawks 't-shirt' practice we're watching.  Mike Macdonald gave a rundown on training camp so far as the team approaches preseason. He tells us what he's seen on both sides of the ball and where he sees growth to date.  The Seahawks are in a different looking practice today, where players are working on the learning side of things.  Curtis Crabtree and Tim Booth sit down for a little Seahawks round table to tell us what they're seeing out here at camp today. They discuss future projections for the NFL Hall of Fame, as there are going to be a large contingent of Seahawks to be voted on in the near future. The guys also discuss what Mike Macdonald's defense will look like in an ever-evolving league. Finally, who has staying power of all 90 guys out here?
