Avengers assemble! In this episode, Shelby and Laura review Marvel's newest superhero movie--Thunderbolts* starring Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The 36th MCU film's marketing campaign promoted IMAX and A24 more than the actual movie, so we were curious to see how it all came together. We analyze the movie's surprising villain--Bob aka Sentry, mental health themes, and backstory plot holes. We dissect the film's lack of diverse casting and Ava Starr's minimal storylines, explain why there was too much homework needed to understand the film, highlight our favorite moments, like David Harbour's comedic timing as Alexei Shostakov, question why Bucky Barnes is a US Congressman, predict who will be in Sam Wilson's Avengers, and debate whether Valentina deserved to have a happy ending. Marvel delivers exactly what I have been craving in The Thunderbolts—something genuinely different for the post-Endgame MCU. This isn't just another superhero team-up; it's a surprisingly poignant exploration of damaged people finding connection through shared trauma.Florence Pugh's Yelena emerges as the emotional core, building beautifully on her established longing for real family from Black Widow. She leads a cast of remarkable performances, with Lewis Pullman surprising everyone as the sympathetic yet disturbing Bob. Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes finds perfect positioning as a mentor figure who's walked the villain-to-hero path himself, while David Harbour's boisterous Alexei provides essential levity among a team of sarcastic loners. Julia Louis-Dreyfus finally gets substantial screen time as the manipulative Val, bringing layers to a character we've only seen in brief moments. What sets Thunderbolts apart is its unflinching focus on mental health themes—guilt, regret, and loneliness aren't just character traits but the very foundation of the story. The film handles these elements with surprising depth, culminating in a climax that prioritizes emotional resolution over typical superhero spectacle. The Void effects create a visually striking metaphor for internal struggles, though the film's overall cinematography remains somewhat bland with muted colors. The post climax reveal reveals these characters to be "The New Avengers" and changes everything, intentionally positioning them as underdogs compared to the original team. Meanwhile, the substantial post-credits scene meaningfully advances the larger MCU narrative toward Doomsday, suggesting Marvel has found its footing again after an uneven period. Whether you're a die-hard Marvel fan or just someone looking for a superhero film with emotional weight, Thunderbolts delivers something refreshingly human in a genre often dominated by world-ending threats.Music Produced by BlackOutBeatz414: https://www.youtube.com/@BlackOutBeatz414Facebook: www.facebook.com/GeekVisionz/Twitch: www.twitch.tv/geekvizentYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@GeekvisionzEnt.

GTA VI took over the news across two weeks, and all with a delay and a new trailer. The Thunderbolts* have a new name, and I have a review. Plus Xbox pulls unexpected shenanigans, Ecco the Dolphin is returning, and Art Imitates life, well the other way around as the real Conclave begins. Plus Andor takes it to the next level, while still keeping it very Star Wars.
Thunderbolts* Marvel has been pretty hit and miss of late, It's TV has been great but some of the films have felt a little under-cooked. We have had a new Captain America film which some thought flew too close to the sun so now it's time for the B-team lineup to take centre stage. Will this NEW film AVENGE the sacred timeline? Will it be a bolt of exciting lightning or more of a belated and low energy roll of thunder? Or...will it change it's title 4 days after release confusing the hell out of everyone?! All 4 of our team of loveable misfits are on board for this show and we each had a fair bit to say about Thunderbolts* especially that damn asterisk! Marvel Studios assembles an unconventional team of antiheroes—Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster and John Walker. After finding themselves ensnared in a death trap set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, these disillusioned castoffs must embark on a dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest corners of their pasts. CinemaCon 2025 is officially in the books, and we've got a ton to break down on today's Kristian Harloff Show! We kick things off with a full breakdown of the extended sneak peek at James Gunn's “Superman”—including first impressions, character reveals, and why this might just be DC's big comeback moment. I stumbled across Sasha aka JewishComicsQueen on Threads when she put out a request to be a guest on more podcasts. I was glad when she said yes, and here we are! We're talking about Jewish representation within the Marvel movies and TV series. Note - this was recorded prior to Captain America: Brave New World's release. We range far and wide with the Marvel movies and shows that we discuss. From pre-Marvel Cinematic Universe, to the current status of the MCU, and what possibly to expect in the future. Topics that are talked about include Magneto's representation across the Films and animated series, MCU's Moon Knight series, Arnold Roth and his incorporation into the MCU's Bucky Barnes, and Benjamin Grimm aka The Thing in the Fantastic Four movies. We also spend a good amount of time talking about Billy Kaplan, one of Sasha's favorite characters, and his representation in Agatha All Along vs the comic version of him. Sasha and I talk about what the future could look like for upcoming Marvel projects, and Sasha provides some indie comics that have that representation currently. Actor. Singer. Cyberpunk. The title really says it all ... Actor. Singer. Cyberpunk. But the one thing that is missing is the title, storyteller. Everything that Eliah Mountjoy does is about Storytelling. We discuss that in length during this interview. We discuss his music with Main Chain. We discuss his acting and voice acting, and even what it means to him to voice Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier in the Marvel Rivals video game. We're back with the first Caravan Of Garbage for 2025, Captain America: The First Avenger. In the lead up to Brave New World we take a look back at the first in the trilogy and the introduction of Chris Evan's portrayal of Steve Rogers. Acting as a prequel in the MCU timeline it takes us back to his battles with the Red Skull and Hydra during the events of World War II. Directed by The Rocketeer's Joe Johnston and also starring Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes and Stanley Tucci as Dr. Abraham Erskine it managed to lay the groundwork for future installments on top of being an absolultely cracking adventure movie in its own right.
