WHILE THE US ALLEGES CURRENT WAR CRIMES IN EURASIA, REMEMBERING VIETNAM: 1/8: The Long Reckoning: A Story of War, Peace, and Redemption in Vietnam –by George Black (Author) https://www.amazon.com/Long-Reckoning-Story-Redemption-Vietnam/dp/0593534107 The American war in Vietnam has left many long-lasting scars that have not yet been sufficiently examined. The worst of them were inflicted in a tiny area bounded by the demilitarized zone between North and South Vietnam and the Ho Chi Minh Trail in neighboring Laos. That small region saw the most intense aerial bombing campaign in history, the massive use of toxic chemicals, and the heaviest casualties on both sides. In The Long Reckoning, George Black recounts the inspirational story of the small cast of characters—veterans, scientists, and Quaker-inspired pacifists, and their Vietnamese partners—who used their moral authority, scientific and political ingenuity, and sheer persistence to attempt to heal the horrors that were left in the wake of the military engagement in Southeast Asia. Their intersecting story is one of reconciliation and personal redemption, embedded in a vivid portrait of Vietnam today, with all its startling collisions between past and present, in which one-time mortal enemies, in the endless shape-shifting of geopolitics, have been transformed into close allies and partners.

He is the author of seven previous books on subjects ranging from the Chinese democracy movement to the River Ganges, from conflict in Central America to the 19th century exploration of the American West, as well as many long-form magazine articles on international politics, culture, and the environment. His writing has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, and dozens of other publications. Both his books and his magazine work have won numerous awards and honors. In addition to an abiding passion for rivers, mountains, and faraway places, he has been struggling for the past decade with a serious case of addiction to Southeast Asia. Despite traveling to more than 50 countries and spending most of his adult life in the United States, part of his heart remains in his native Scotland. He is married to the writer Anne Nelson. They have two children, David and Julia. View 'The Long Reckoning' on Legacies Library! Theme song by Lao Jazzanova
5/8: The Long Reckoning: A Story of War, Peace, and Redemption in Vietnam Hardcover – Deckle Edge, March 28, 2023 by George Black (Author) https://www.amazon.com/Long-Reckoning-Story-Redemption-Vietnam/dp/0593534107 The American war in Vietnam has left many long-lasting scars that have not yet been sufficiently examined. 1967 Fourth Marines

Just in time for the holiday season, we're joined by co-founder of Men Up, George Black. Now on his path to being a prison chaplain, George stops by to offer us his journey to using boundaries as an act of self-love and the highest form of love for the people and communities we care most about. If you are looking for an extra helping of joy, love and friends actively understanding and maintaining boundaries with one another, then this is the episode (dish?) for you.
Today's guest on The Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur Podcast is George Black, business strategist and founder of Live Truly Free. After two decades of working as a strategist and outsourced CFO, George sensed God's leading to guide entrepreneurs to focus their passions, build great companies, and live truly free. Moving from working with clients quietly behind the scenes to releasing a message publicly in the marketplace requires a process, and it's not always an easy one. In fact, while in the process of doing the work to release a message of “living truly free” to entrepreneurs around the globe, the Holy Spirit gently told George “You really aren't living truly free.” In this conversation, George candidly shares how he navigated the process of finding his voice and breaking the boxes he had placed himself in, so that he could be free to bring his full self to the table and serve the people God has called him to in this season.

Former Yukon MP Martha Black dies. Martha Munger, born in Chicago in 1866, left a life of privilege, as well as a husband, to join the Klondike gold rush in 1898. Her journey involved a rugged 92-kilometre hike through Chilkoot Pass in the Rocky Mountains, but her wealth made it easier than for most; she paid others to haul her mass of gear. In 1904 she married her second husband, George Black, who later became commissioner of the Yukon Territory and a member of Parliament. Martha’s career included partnering in gold mine businesses and running a sawmill. When her husband was too ill to run as MP in 1935, Black ran for Parliament herself. She became Canada’s second female MP at the age of 69. Five years later, when her husband recovered, she gave up the seat she had been “holding” for him. Black died on November 2, 1957 at age 91, but her name (and that of her husband) lives on through streets and mountain peaks named after the couple. Chuck Morse is joined by Nation Magazine contributor George Black, author of the column "The Lethal Legacy of the Vietnam War" in a discussion about the environmental as well as the political consequences of the Vietnam War. Chuck controversially argues that America won the war in 1973 after the signing of the Paris Peace Accord. He argues that this was followed 2 years later by the selling out of South Vietnam by Democrats in a newly elected post-Watergate Congress led by Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy which cut off all aid. This was predictably followed by a full-scale Soviet backed invasion and conquest of South Vietnam by the North Vietnamese which led to the leftist Cambodian Holocaust and hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese boat people. Host Laura Theodore, the Jazzy Vegetarian, chats with David Stowell and George Black who are professional vegan chefs with a twenty-two-year-long commitment to creating accessible, cruelty-free cuisine for all. We’ll talk about their new book: Veganopolis. In addition, I will chat with recording star Micheal Castaldo, whose new single, Pray’r (produced and written by micheal Castaldo and Stein Berg Svendsen), recently reached #1 on the Amazon Classical charts! “Pray’r” enjoyed a very fast rise since being officially released on July 12th, 2011, securing the top position in just 15 days. After starting out in 2003 with a small delivery cart, David Stowell and George Black ran the popular Veganopolis Cafeteria from 2005 to 2008, and developed a huge international following for their delicious, no-nonsense, versatile vegan cooking. Vegan cooking has been exploding in popularity over the past decade. Now, they've captured their most popular Veganopolis recipes in their new cookbook, featuring the breadth of delicious, versatile, and accessible recipes that popularized their restaurant.
