The BarcaBreakdown discuss the injuries to Sergino Dest and Jordi Alba on international duty, Memphis Depay's Hat Trick for the Netherlands, and Gerard Pique speaking out against Bartomeu. International break has been a plague for FC Barcelona recently. During this break, it seems Sergino Dest and Jordi Alba have both sustained injuries on their national teams. These injuries could not have come at a worst time. Barcelona already has a decent list of injured players (namely Fati, Dembele, Aguero, and Pique) who will not be ready for the HUGE game against Bayern Munich. This is the first game of the Champions League Group Stages. We all know what occurred last we met Bayern (8-2). Barca generally have trouble with providing width for the team but with both wings injured we may have to rely on the likes of Roberto, Mingueza, and Balde. This will affect us on the defensive and offensive side leaving us susceptible to attacks and a lack of open play. Hopefully Koeman can create a game plan to accommodate our deficiencies and accordingly. In other International news, Memphis Depay has scored his first hattrick for the Netherlands international team. The newly acquired Dutchman has shown extraordinary promise at Barca during preseason and the beginning of this season. Barca need a player of his caliber and scoring ability to keep them in the race for La Liga and in the long shot for Champions League. Lastly, Pique (the voice of the people) has come out and expressed his distaste for our previous President, Bartomeu. Pique has stated he has not known all the presidents of Barca, but he must be the worst or at the very least, up there. This scrutiny comes after many senior players on Barca have taken pay cuts and many players (Messi and Greizmann included) have left Barca to adjust for the financial difficulties the club has been facing. Rightfully so, Bart has been criticized for his absurd contracts and mismanagement of the team. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! The BarcaBreakdown discuss, in a turn of events, after two years at FC Barcelona, Antoine Greizmann returned to Atletico Madrid. This comes at the final window of the transfer window on 31 Aug 2021. Barca agreed to release Greizmann on loan for $10 Million and an obligation to buy for $40 Million. We discuss what this means for the team and our initial reactions to this news. Ultimately, Barcelona's financial troubles and disastrous leadership of Bartomeu have plagued the team resulting in some very surprising news. At the end of the day, Laporta has been losing our trust as we question his election promises and where we are today. Greizmann will join the 2019-2020 La Liga Champions with Luis Suarez in an attempt to take the title 2 years in a row. Another Dutchman arrives at FC Barcelona from Sevilla, Luuk De Jong. Barca will cover his wages with an option to buy. This comes when we lose Greizmann and still have a roster of attackers on injury including Augero, Dembele, and not yet to return to live play, Fati. Lastly, we had Ilaix Moriba and Emerson depart and signed to RB Leipzig and Tottenham Hotspurs, respectively. Ilaix has been on his way out and will be leaving for $15 Million. Emerson only being at the club for 2 months comes at a surprise as Laporta had stated “Emerson will stay for many years”. The summer transfer window has come to an end, again leaving Barca and the fans wondering, what will happen next? Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! Barca faced off against Getafe at the Camp Nou with a less than convincing victory. Even though Barca were able to score two goals in the first half from Sergi Roberto and Memphis Depay, Getafe was able to take advantage against the weak defense of Barca. Getafe, a team who could not score against a 10 man Valencia was able to place the ball past Ter Stegen. The biggest criticisms fall upon Greizmann and Koeman. Griezmann was invisible, not involved in the attack against Getafe whatsoever. Koeman has proven to provide zero tactical prowess regarding any mindful plan on the pitch. To add to this, subs were only utilized to maintain the lead and not used to improve the game or replace tired or poor performing players. Where are Puig and Coutinho? Koeman needs to rotate players and find new tactical choices. Experiment with the players you have and make some smart decisions. Utilizing the same line up and only making changes when it;s too late is not intelligent football or leadership. The positives were single player standout performances from Depay, Frenkie De Jong, and Ronald Araujo. Our future looks grim as we head into a 2 week international break and play against Sevilla. As well we will be playing against Atletico Madrid and Real Mardrid coming October. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! The BarcaBreakdown discusses the second game of the 2021-22 La Liga Season which resulted in a 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao. Ronald Koeman went with the same line-up as he did against La Real. The first half of the game had blunders from the likes of Eric Garcia and Neto. This allowed Inaki Williams to threaten us multiple times which finally resulted in a goal from Martinez. Braithwaite (who had an early chance on goal) and Greizmann were hardly seen on the ball for any time of forward play. To add to the dismay, Pique came off early in the game due to injury and was replaced by Araujo, who played wonderfully, even attempting a bicycle kick goal that was overturned. Positive highlights of the game came in the form of some beautiful offensive and defensive work rate from Frenkie De Jong, a stalwart in the midfield. Unfortunately, Pedri looked a little tied but still played well. He will be receiving a 2 week vacation to give him some rest time. Finally in the 75' Depay scored a well controlled rocket of a shot past the goal to equalize. Near the end of the game Depay went just wide to miss the net to take the lead. The result, a 1-1 draw at San Mames, leaves Barca with 4 points for the season. Koeman has his work ahead of him leading into next week's game at the Camp Nou against Getafe. The BarcaBreakdown discuss, with Messi's official farewell, FC Barcelona has won the Joan Gamper Trophy with a 3-0 victory over Juventus. A sad yet promising day in Barca's future. We saw some wonderful young faces and goals with the likes of Depay and Puig. We discuss today's performance and how we will move forward as we start the 2021-22 Season next week. Before the game, it was reported that Frenkie De Jong, Lenglet, and Sergio Aguero were injured and will be out for a few weeks. Despite this, we had a great opener to the first half with a wonderful goal from Memphis Depay, assisted by Demir. In the second half we had 2 goals beginning with a corner from Depay and Braithwaite placing a flying header in the back of the net. Near the end of the game, a pass from Nic, Puig takes a turn and pummels the ball in the back of the Juventus net. The game showed wonderful pressure and defensive work rates from forwards, Greizmann and Braithwaite. Of course Araujo looked strong and bullied with his big body and Pique tactfully cleared balls. Roberto still has no place on the pitch but it was wonderful to see Neto gaining some traction by deflecting multiple shots including an attempt from Ronaldo. Neto won the MVP of the game and Busquets held up the trophy after the match as captain with a smile. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! In another weekend of football amidst VAR being VAR, football being cancelled and 2 titans of football reaching milestones, we are hear to discuss all that with you! An iconic moment in football (5:53) as Lionel Messi became the first to contribute to 1000 goals. Spoke on him and how he seems to get better with time. Braithewaithe doing what Greizmann can't? Also CR7 scoring 11 games in a row. CR7 x Ramsey could be a thing? Lazio and Juventus winning but is there an advantage for Inter? Going big on a man who is growing in reputation in Germany and that is Christopher Nkunku (12:25). With 4 goals and 11 assist, 4 coming in a single game, is he the next Pogba? Haaland (14:50) using his Bundesliga goal this weekend to shift into the UCL recap. (15:40) PSG defeated by Tuchel and the way he has set up the team. Can Atleti survive Anfield? Florentino is in Canada! To talk to....everyone he wants out? Can that really be true? And is that #actually the right play here, given the professional concerns? Gabe Lezra and Om Arvind are here to break this down--and to sip all the other Real Madrid transfer tea. Some of that good #gos discussed: - James to Atleti? What? - Ceballos to Milan and Fede as the main midfield backup? - Greizmann to Barcelona is somehow still funny as hell - Did Kovacic just love it at Chelsea? - Lots of suitors for Pogba - Is Qatar backing out of sports because, essentially, none of its moves are helping their actual country? - Hazard doesn't want number 7, but he does want..... 23? Is that cool, though? We do stan Becks in this house.... Want more of this? Toss us a few bucks on Patreon--you'll get access to bonus content, and numerous other rewards! Was passiert dann mit Greizmann. Hosts Gabe Lezra and Evan Mateer are joined by their friend Ernesto Alvarado to talk about everything from Antoine Greizmann's absurd blackface costume, the FIFA trial, and Gabe's articles on the Columbus Crew. Gabe and Ernesto start with a long chat about Greizmann and racism, delving into the culture that would allow or even encourage the costume, the incredibly flawed misconception that this constume is some how OK or justified, and they break down some of the myriad shit takes from old white dudes about Greizmann. Then they're joined by Evan to break down the latest developments in the FIFA scandal coming out of federal court in Brooklyn. Both sides delivered closing arguments earlier in the week and it's really up in the air how it might shake out. Oh, and FIFA is incredibly mobbed up. They end by chatting about Gabe's new articles on the Columbus crew and some out-there plans to potentially #SaveTheCrew.
On this episode of the Churros y Tácticas Podcast, Kiyan Sobhani was joined by David Cartlidge to discuss: - The Champions League final from a neutral perspective - The embarrassing Greizmann saga - Valverde's fit at Barcelona - David's hot take on football shirts - Is Luka Modric a Balon D'or candidate? - What would happen in theoretical La Liga vs EPL showdowns - La Liga XI with a max of two players from each team - The probability of Ceballos joining Real Madrid, and how he'd fit - Valencia holding on to Carlos Soler - Eibar's next steps - The teams going down, and the teams coming up - Spain's U21 squad - And more!
