In Episode 120 of the Award Travel 101 podcast, Mike Zaccheo and Angie Sparks cover Angie's recent trip to Slovenia and Croatia, blending personal travel highlights with timely award travel news. Big community updates include the long-awaited announcement of the 2025 Chicago Seminars (Nov 7–9 at HR ORD), changes to Emirates First Class award access for elites only, and generous summer promotions from Best Western and Marriott Homes & Villas. Hyatt also announced a cap on the number of awards a member can receive via gifting, beginning June 7, 2025. On the personal front, Angie completed spend on her ABG card and is eyeing her next one, while Mike is working up the nerve to have Player 2 call Chase before a bonus expires.Angie detailed her trip to the Balkans, booked using Turkish Miles & Smiles with a bonus from Citi ThankYou Points. Despite a few travel hiccups, she had an enjoyable experience flying Turkish Airlines and Polaris on the return. Hotels were mostly booked with cash via OTAs, with some offset using Capital One travel credits. Angie and her travel companion rented a car for their road trip, visiting Lake Bled, the Julian Alps, and iconic caves like Postojna, before crossing into Italy and heading down the Istrian coast into Croatia. Highlights included truffle tasting tours, the Roman ruins in Pula, and the stunning Plitvice Lakes. Angie strongly recommends Slovenia for its beauty, affordability, and mild summer weather. Her tip of the week? Always pack a charging brick—especially when facing airport delays.Link to Topics Discussed15th Annual Chicago SeminarsEmirates restricts First Class award redemptionsBest Western Points PromotionHyatt Restricts Award GiftsMarriott Homes & Villas PromotionEmirates Skyward Miles ExpirationWhere to Find Us The Free 110k+ member Award Travel 101 Community. Schade Schokolade...
I dag forvalter Martin fondene FIRST Generator og FIRST Global Focus.

For our final episode before our hiatus, we wanted to take time to celebrate the amazing community we have built with you all over the last 7 years. And this is a BIG MOMENT, because we've contacted someone who's never been a guest on the podcast, but was talked about way back in Episode 2. That's right, it's THE fuccboi from Episode 2: Fuckboi - The Modern Day Player, here to finally share his side of the story. Full transparency, he is a friend of ours and it's all in the past now, but we're so excited that he was willing to be a guest on this episode. We also invited Carla, the spiritual medium from Episode 98, to do one more psychic reading before we embark on this new chapter, and Philip Wang to offer some words of wisdom as someone who has been supporting us from the very start. We want to thank all our friends and listeners who shared heartfelt messages and well wishes for this hiatus. We love our community so much and none of this would have been possible without you. This may be our last episode for a while, but this isn't a goodbye, it's a see you online, and see you IRL!
So the DJ's DJ Kevin Ruiz gets married to the love of his life Irene Reyes. For those in our international audience, he is the one who gets some of the credit for bringing New York underground house music from his place of birth, New Jersey, to the Philippines at the tender age of 17, with consequential residencies at clubs like ABG's, 78Orange, Government, Imperial Ice Bar, and others.Who can forget his marathon sets at "Orange" circa 2002 on Saturday nights until 7:30am playing tracks like "Rapture" and "Dark Beat" to a packed dancefloor? I certainly can't.The number of DJs in attendance at this wedding is a testament to this humble man's body of work and the lives he's touched, both personally and professionally, over the last 25+ years. Spotted in the crowd were Wendell Garcia, Benjo Marquez, Tony Pavia, Sanya Smith, Ornusa Cadness, and Mark Morales.Since this is a exceptional wedding, Inés and I teamed up to put together an extra special set for the couple, one we worked "sleepless nights" to research and compile, taking it on the road to test aspects of it on various audiences over the last few months. And here's the final product! Never have we been so proud to be the Principal Sponsors at a wedding! Wishing Kevin and Irene a wonderful life together, as we continue to witness this unique love story unfold.Elian & Inéswww.musicandwineradio.com
It's true - after 7 amazing years and over 300 episodes, we will be hitting pause on the AsianBossGirl podcast. This was by no means an easy decision, and we have many reasons, both individually and as a group, for why a hiatus felt right - all of which we share in this episode. This podcast has evolved so much since our corporate days and far exceeded our expectations - we are so grateful for all the fun moments and support from listeners over the years. But this is not our last episode!! We will be back next week to celebrate what we're most excited about moving forward (and maybe bringing back some familiar faces?!) For our very last episode, we'd love to hear some voicemails from you! To leave us a message, call +1-818-659-5834 The voicemail box will close on January 7, 2024
For our final episode of 2024, we thought it'd be fun to go all the way back to January, when we set our intentions for the new year. In the last 52 weeks, what parts of our vision board were we able to accomplish, and what might we want to continue, or change up, in 2025? We hope that you will take some time to reflect with us. Happy Holidays, and Happy (almost!) New Year!
It's been a while since we've done a Q&A on the podcast, and since this is one of the last episodes of the year (!!) we thought this would be a perfect time to catch-up and answer some questions from our listeners! We're curious about some of these too: Does Mel still want to move to Taiwan? How does Helen get her hair to look perfectly curled? Do we ever compare our SOs to other people's SOs? And what's next for ABG?
Several years ago, I explored three strategic paths of extending into nutritional supplements that would be available to major lifestyle brands predominantly known for athletic apparel. And those were obviously entering the supplement category through acquisition, internal brand development, or creating a strategic partnership. But since that original content was released, several large athletic apparel brands have indeed decided to extend into nutritional supplements...and by leveraging each of those three strategic paths. The first example was ALO Yoga that internally developed its three SKU Stackable Wellness System that launched in August 2023. Next, an example of entering the supplement category through M&A happened in January 2024 when NOBULL acquired Tom Brady's wellness company TB12. Finally, the recent Reebok Nutrition announcement officially provided me with that final strategic path...with the multibillion-dollar global brand (now owned by Authentic Brand Group) deciding to enter the ingestible CPG world through maybe the least risky (and definitely most comfortable) manner of leveraging a licensing partnership. And I state that because ABG knows licensing extremely well…as it's the world's largest sports and entertainment licensing company. So, who's the strategic partner ABG chose for Reebok Nutrition? That would be Generation Joy, which is admittedly not a company I had ever heard of prior to this Reebok Nutrition announcement. From a quick search, it seems Generation Joy was founded in 2016 by certified holistic health coach Joy Harari. The first (or at least the most commercially successful) creation from Generation Joy is a nutricosmetic cosmeceutical mashup brand leveraging marine collagen called Shore Magic. But more importantly, my latest first principles thinking content will explore (1) why did Reebok decide now is the time to enter the sports nutrition market and (2) what could impact the probability that Reebok Nutrition will be successful? Tech companies are a notoriously male-dominated space, but today's guest has become a voice for Asian American women in that industry. Chloe Shih began her creator journey offering resources and advice to others working in tech. Since then, she's been honing her personal aesthetic with great success. Earlier this year, she went viral after sharing about her layoff from Discord. Now “starting over” in her 30s and walking the fine line between tech and creative work, Chloe has inspired us with her intentional approach to content creation. We're so excited to chat with Chloe about balancing dual careers, her new podcast JOMO, and why she chose to cut watermelon in her videos. How am I really doing in NYC? Eight months in, and it's time to get real about life in New York. I've shared glimpses of my excitement about the city, but behind the scenes, it's been… different. I didn't think moving here would feel this lonely, but leaving behind a tight-knit group of friends and adjusting to new rhythms has been harder than I ever expected. It's tough to admit, but this might be the loneliest I've ever felt. In this episode, I'm opening up about what it's really been like—navigating big-city life, missing familiar faces, and learning that making new friends as an adult isn't as easy as it sounds. Sometimes, I find myself wishing for just one effortless conversation with people who know me. Between spending days mostly alone and feeling the weight of vulnerability fatigue, it's been a rollercoaster. I'm still figuring it out, and I hope sharing this helps anyone else feeling a little out of place to know you're not alone. So, let's get into it: the highs, the lows, and the in-between moments of finding myself in NYC. No Dumb Questions with Mel is moving to its own feed! After going through a significant breakup, it can be difficult to get back into dating. Opening yourself up to new people and experiences might be intimidating, or you might even find that you have new priorities. But if you're ready to start dating again, it's always good to reflect on the positives & negatives of your previous relationship to see what you'd like to look for in the next one. Today, Janet is sharing her personal perspective on this topic, as someone who has started dating again after a pretty big breakup, and opening up about a key relationship that defined her last year. She also talks about why she's given herself permission to take dating at her own pace, and offers some advice to anyone else who may be healing after breakups. In this episode of Spill the Baby Tea, I'm taking you behind the scenes of my career journey—from my early days as a valuation manager at Ernst & Young to the big, scary leap into content creation and podcasting. Many of you might be navigating big life or career transitions yourself, or wondering what it's really like to follow a passion outside of the corporate world. I'll be sharing the highs and lows of both paths: the perks and pressures of working for a global firm, the hard truths about climbing the ladder, and why I ultimately walked away to create something of my own. I also share in this episode some real talk on financial preparedness and advice for making a successful transition. Let's dive into the path less traveled, and find out if becoming a content creator is as dreamy as it sounds ;) AsianBossGirl's latest Instagram post for comments/interactions, linked here. #SpillTheBabyTea Become an ABG Bestie to get new audio episodes ad-free, monthly “Dear ABG” AMA sessions, discounts on merch, and shout-outs in our episodes. https://abg.supercast.com/ __________________________________________ Host: Helen Wu Editor: Victoria Cheng __________________________________________ P A R T N E R S • Wild: Use code “ABG20” for 20% off your first order at WeAreWild.com/US • Pampers: Check out Pampers Cruisers 360 today! • BetterHelp: Get 10% off your first month with code “ABG” at betterhelp.com/ABG __________________________________________ C O N N E C T W I T H U S • Subscribe and Follow us @asianbossgirl on Apple Podcasts/Spotify/Amazon Music/YouTube/Instagram/Twitter/Facebook • Listener Survey: Let us know your thoughts on the podcast here • Email: hello@asianbossgirl.com __________________________________________ S U P P O R T U S • Merch: asianbossgirl.myshopify.com • Donate: anchor.fm/asianbossgirl/support • More about us at asianbossgirl.com Learn more about your ad choices. Since her start as a vlogger on YouTube, she has grown her audience to millions of subscribers across two channels, on top of two podcasts: Pretty Basic and Basically Unfiltered. One of the biggest challengers to living in the present moment are digital distractions. The advancement of consumer technology has resulted in a lot of habits and behaviors that are detrimental to our health - negative effects on our brains, our ability to focus, our ideas about ourselves, and the quality of our social skills and relationships which have resulted in a loneliness epidemic. In this episode, I chat with Palak Dave, Founder and CEO of Embiria – a movement and membership community designed to help people slow down and savor life, about this very issue. Through Embiria, she promotes intentional living, urging you to prioritize real-life experiences and connection over digital noise. She is also a speaker, investor, and author of the newly released book Beautiful Everydays: A Guide to Living in the Here and Now. We also chat about her previous career as an award-winning marketer in corporate settings, making the shift to entrepreneurship, being a woman of color and child of immigrants, and her perspective on work-life balance as an entrepreneur in the wellness space. In this episode, I'm diving deep into a relationship that's been central to my life for almost 8 years—my friendship with my roommate, Dar. If you've listened to earlier episodes, you'll know why I chose to live with a roommate, but today, I want to explore who that roommate is and how we became each other's home away from home. From our origin story to the pivotal moments that shaped our bond, I'll be sharing the journey of how Dar and I went from mutual friends to an unbreakable duo. We're still actively grieving after moving apart, and honestly, I cry in this one, but it's a story worth sharing. In this episode of Spill the Baby Tea, I'm diving into one of the most challenging yet essential aspects of parenting—discipline. As my own 2 (almost 3) year-old toddler reaches that age where boundaries and lessons are really starting to push my buttons! I've been exploring the best ways to approach discipline that feel supportive, nurturing, and effective. When do we start disciplining our little ones, and how do we do it in a way that feels right for our families? From positive discipline to time-ins, natural consequences, and setting clear but compassionate boundaries, I did the research so you don't have to. We'll talk about how to stay calm (even when it's really hard!) and teach our kids important lessons in a loving, gentle way. If you're navigating this phase or just getting ready for it, I hope this episode offers some helpful tips and encouragement AsianBossGirl's latest Instagram post for comments/interactions, linked here. #SpillTheBabyTea Become an ABG Bestie to get new audio episodes ad-free, monthly “Dear ABG” AMA sessions, discounts on merch, and shout-outs in our episodes. https://abg.supercast.com/ __________________________________________ Host: Helen Wu Editor: Victoria Cheng __________________________________________ P A R T N E R S • Wild: Use code “ABG20” for 20% off your first order at WeAreWild.com/US • Quince: Get free shipping and 365-day returns at Quince.com/abg • BetterHelp: Get 10% off your first month with code “ABG” at betterhelp.com/ABG __________________________________________ C O N N E C T W I T H U S • Subscribe and Follow us @asianbossgirl on Apple Podcasts/Spotify/Amazon Music/YouTube/Instagram/Twitter/Facebook • Listener Survey: Let us know your thoughts on the podcast here • Email: hello@asianbossgirl.com __________________________________________ S U P P O R T U S • Merch: asianbossgirl.myshopify.com • Donate: anchor.fm/asianbossgirl/support • More about us at asianbossgirl.com Learn more about your ad choices. Birthdays are an interesting time to reflect and evaluate, and honestly, it's been one of the harder years of my life. It was the perfect storm - a cataclysm of many things being upheaved, in transition, unsettled, or in flux. Moreover, I turned 39 this year. It's the year before I enter a new decade - pretty much midlife - and when we are at this stage of life, there are a lot of life milestones that we are confronted with. In some ways, my life does not look how I thought it would at 39. And having to face that reality while still being kind to myself and willing the confidence and fervor that's required to make change and keep going has been pretty exhausting. But I want to take this episode as an opportunity to share some of the things I've learned over the course of my 39 years, and especially this past year. In this heartwarming episode of No Dumb Questions, I'm thrilled to welcome Jocelyn Chung, a graphic designer, creator, and newly-published children's book author, to the podcast! We instantly connected during my last visit to Taiwan, and today we're diving into her debut book, “When Love is More Than Words”, a story that beautifully captures how love transcends language, especially within Asian families—a theme that deeply resonates with me, having grown up with my grandparents and extended family. Jocelyn shares the inspiration behind her book, how her upbringing in a Taiwanese-American household influenced her storytelling, and the creative journey from designer to author. We also explore the challenges she faced as a first-time author and the cultural values she hopes to pass on through her work. Whether you love children's books or simply believe in the power of love beyond words, this episode is a must-listen!
