For the final Sunday Supplement of the season, we're joined by Dominic King, Jack Rosser and Carl Anka to reflect on the weekend's sporting action. We begin by discussing Arsenal's Champions League final loss to PSG on penalties, despite taking an early lead through Havertz. Jack assesses the result in the context of a strong season under Arteta, who led the club to its first Premier League title in over two decades. We're then joined by Jamie Carragher live from Budapest to discuss the news of Arne Slot's departure from Liverpool. While Dominic admits he was surprised by the announcement, he reflects on the subdued atmosphere at Anfield in recent matches as we explore why sporting director Hughes ultimately decided to part ways with Slot. Finally, we look ahead to the World Cup, discussing Thomas Tuchel's plans for East Coast preparation and the logistical challenges of the tournament. We also debate whether leaving Harry Maguire out of the squad could prove to be a costly decision.-•You can watch the sporting action live on Sky Sports. The 2026 FIFA World Cup is fast approaching, and Thomas Tuchel has finalized his England squad for the tournament. Frank and Eddie analyze some of his selections. Eddie explains that he understands that the inclusion of Henderson, Madueke, and Gordon shows that Tuchel wants a squad that fits his system, but will it work?  The Premier League season wrapped up with Arsenal as champions, Manchester City slipping up again, and Spurs narrowly avoiding relegation at the expense of West Ham. Roland Garros is underway in Paris, with some of the world's top players on both the ATP and WTA tours protesting prize money, but Eddie thinks they're being tone-deaf with some of their complaints.  Plus, Hull beat Middlesbrough in the Championship playoff final following the controversy of 'spygate'. The Enhanced Games failed to deliver many world records, and would you go out of your way to attend a championship parade?

On 22 April 2026, Coca-Cola unveiled Cole Palmer as its newest football brand ambassador, fronting Premier League and World Cup activations. A month later, Tuchel left him out of the England squad. We use the Palmer story as a way into a wider conversation with Ricardo Fort — former global head of sport at Coca-Cola, now advisor to brands betting billions on the World Cup — about how personal endorsement deals really work in 2026.The anatomy of an endorsement deal. Ricardo breaks down the numbers: $3-8m per year for a top player, rarely a one-year deal, so you're looking at $10m minimum before activation. Add a global campaign on top and you're at $50-60m of media spend that depends on one player turning up.Where the leverage sits. Spoiler: not with the brand. By the time the contract gets signed, the creative idea has been built around the player, the agency is in love with the film, and the agent knows it. Ricardo on why the awkward "what if you don't make the squad?" conversation rarely happens — and why contracts that should include triggers for injury, non-selection, and tournament performance often don't.The slow-moving machine. A good World Cup campaign kicks off weeks after the previous one ends. By the time the squad is announced, 90% of the posts, the point-of-sale, the films and the photography are already in the can. Agility in this market is a myth. The Formula 1 jumpsuit problem. When Vinicius Jr. is fronting campaigns for Visa, Marriott Bonvoy, Rexona, LEGO, Nike, Pepsi and Havaianas, who actually owns him? Ricardo on why most brands have no idea how many other sponsors have signed the same face, and why differentiation has become the real game.Cultural relevance, examined. The phrase everyone in sports marketing reaches for. Ricardo on why it works for Adidas and Nike, why it's largely delusional for everyone else, and why most brands are still asking players to post twice on Instagram and calling it strategy. Also covered. FIFA as a bulletproof brand. Why the ticketing land-grab doesn't damage it. Hospitality as a business. The 3am problems that keep sponsorship directors awake during a tournament — lost VIP guests, missing teenagers, last-minute Croatian billionaires arriving by private jet. And the medal-ceremony speech Ricardo describes as the lowest point of his career.Unofficial Partner is the leading podcast for the business of sport. Leute, was war da los? So!

Rob Jones is joined by Jonathan Northcroft, Julien Laurens and John Cross to reflect on the weekend's sporting action. We kick things off with the battle for places in Thomas Tuchel's England squad. Harry Maguire may be fifth-choice at centre-back, but do his recent form and tournament pedigree put him back in contention this summer? Julien argues the case for a fully fit John Stones to anchor the defence, while John considers the case for Ben White's inclusion after his impressive goalscoring cameo against Uruguay.Next, we turn to the news of Tiger Woods' arrest following a crash in Florida. Julien reflects on the reality that it barely came as a surprise—and argues it may finally be time for golf to move on.Next, we look at Cole Palmer and the chances he could leave Chelsea FC this summer. We explore his future and the clubs that might be interested in snapping him up.We then turn to the England cricket team, where Ben Stokes' return is on hold after a cheek injury. Cricket broadcaster Adam Collins joins us to discuss Stokes' absence and his prospects of returning to County cricket with Durham in early May.And finally, we dive into Arsenal, sparked by George Graham's comments. While the pushing, shoving, grappling, and set-piece scoring might not be pretty, Graham points out that everyone does it—and Arsenal do it best.
