A kibeszélő tartalmából (24:10): - Dagger of the Mind, Der Zentralnervensystemmanipulator, Das Gedankensieb, Igazság irtó gép, Gonoszság irtó gép: végigmegyünk az epizód általunk ismert különböző címein.

It is the first series developed specifically for that service, and the first Star Trek series since Star Trek: Enterprise concluded in 2005. Set roughly a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series and separate from the timeline of the concurrent feature films, Discovery explores the Federation–Klingon cold war while following the crew of the USS Discovery. Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Harberts serve as showrunners on the series, with producing support from Akiva Goldsman.Sonequa Martin-Green stars as Michael Burnham, the first officer of the USS Shenzhou and later the USS Discovery. The new series was announced in November 2015, and Fuller joined as showrunner the next February. In addition to Fuller and Kurtzman, who wrote for previous Star Trek series and films, respectively, the crew includes several other previous Star Trek creatives. Fuller wanted to make an anthology series, beginning with a prequel season to the original series, but CBS asked that he make a single serialized show first. In October 2016, after further disagreements with CBS and struggles with other commitments, Fuller left the series. Berg and Harberts took over day-to-day production using a mythology and broad story arc established by Fuller, while Goldsman joined then as support. The production put emphasis on carrying on the legacy of the previous series, including making efforts to feature a diverse cast. The values and designs of the Federation were updated for the series, but were expected to evolve towards those of the original series throughout Discovery's run. The show also heavily features the Klingon species, with the intent of exploring the central conflict from both perspectives. The Klingons were redesigned for the series, with influence from their previous appearances, the original inspirations for the species, and the novel The Final Reflection, as well as research on biology and evolution. The Klingon language is also extensively used. Discovery is filming in Toronto, and has filmed on location in Jordan. ABOUT STAR TREK DISCOVERY: Star Trek: Discovery is an American television series created for CBS All Access by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman. Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Harberts serve as showrunners on the series, with producing support from Akiva Goldsman. Sonequa Martin-Green stars as Michael Burnham, the first officer of the USS Shenzhou and later the USS Discovery. Within this special episode of the pod, we will feature a review of Episodes 1-5 of Season 2, providing an overview of the first five episodes and identify intentional changes to the show seemingly in response to fan criticisms regarding perceived canon violations. Then, we will examine common themes for Season 2. As most of you know, Episodes 1-5 were the last in which Gretchen J. Berg & Aaron Harberts served as the Discovery showrunners and, thus, represented a particular vision for Season 2. So, we decided this would be a good time to take a look at these episodes as a unit. Enjoy.

Star Trek: Discovery – Season 2, Episode 4: An Obol for Charon For episode 29 of The Star Trek Discovery Podcast, Ruthie is out sick, but I was able to get emergency guest co-host Wes Huntington from the Minnesota Star Trek Nerd Podcast to fill in, as we discuss Season 2 Episode 4 of Star Trek: Discovery, which is titled, An Obol for Charon. The teleplay was written by producer Alan McElroy (I got his name wrong during the recording – it’s Alan, not Adam) & co-executive producer Andrew Colville, the story was written by co-executive producer Jordon Nardino & showrunners Gretchen J. Berg & Aaron Harberts (who were still showrunners at the time). It was directed by Lee Rose. She also directed S1E5 Choose Your Pain. Fred’s Pics! We have been blessed yet again with pics chosen by Fred from The Netherlands, including the cover image. We will show them throughout this blog post. A Tough One for Saru… It was a tough episode for Commander Saru. It looked like we would be losing the first and only Kelpien in Starfleet during this episode, and they sold that death. I had myself questioning it. Could they kill him off? Would this be the right time to do that? I knew we see his sister Siranna in the last trailer, but I thought that maybe it could end up being a flashback or a hallucination before death. When it looked like he was going to die, though, he didn’t die. He evolved. One of his most problematic traits, his threat ganglia, are gone for good, and he feels like he’s never felt before. I loved the Burnham/Saru scenes, showing that the bickering we had seen early on was the behavior of brother and sister. It took a tragedy for them both to admit it to each other, and to themselves. So, what will become of Saru, and the Kelpiens, who were being culled, seemingly as a part of a big lie. Time will tell. STDP 029 – Saru in Full Makeup I liked Saru’s quarters, by the way. Very idyllic. STDP 029 – Saru’s Quarters A Tough One for Tilly… This was also a tough episode for Tilly, and looks like the next one will be, too. The blob formerly seen as May has attached itself to Tilly, and isn’t going to easily let go. Tilly gets a drill to the head to facilitate communications, which had to hurt. At the end of the episode, we see Tilly’s been consumed by the blob. For what purpose, we cannot know. STDP 029 – A Distressed Tilly

Star Trek: Discovery – Season 2, Episode 1: Brother For episode 26 of The Star Trek Discovery Podcast, Ruthie and I discuss the Season 2 premiere of Star Trek: Discovery – S2E1, which is titled, Brother. It was written by Ted Sullivan & Gretchen J. Berg & Aaron Harberts (the latter two were the showrunners at the time this was filmed), and it was directed by the current showrunner and co-creator, Alex Kurtzman. We both loved this supersized movie-like premiere! If you haven’t given Discovery a try, this epic episode is one you can jump right in! We LOVE Captain Pike!!! If you’ve seen TOS (“The Cage” and “The Menagerie”) or the Kelvin Timeline films – specifically “Star Trek” (2009) and “Star Trek Into Darkness” (2013) – you are probably aware of Captain Christopher Pike, who captained the Enterprise before Kirk took command, but we didn’t know about his stint as the captain of the Discovery, while the Enterprise underwent extensive repairs after suffering severe ship-wide system failure. Pike takes command of the Discovery to investigate seven red bursts throughout spread out across more than thirty thousand light-years, but he considers it “shared custody” with Saru. Pike makes this episode, and if this episode is any indication, Pike will quickly become a fan favorite, if he isn’t already! They Have Stepped It Up This episode looks like a blockbuster movie! It looks every bit as good as the three Kelvin Timeline films. There have been reports that Berg & Harberts lost their showrunner jobs in part because the first three episodes went way over budget. I was skeptical of this report until I saw this first episode. When I said it looks like a hundred million dollars was spent on this episode, I wasn’t exaggerating. I know it wasn’t, but the quality of the visuals has far eclipsed what we saw in Season 1, which was already made it one of the best looking TV shows going. Fred’s Pics! In addition to our cover image, Fred from The Netherlands also provided us with some images from Brother! Thanks again, Fred!!! If you watched the first Short Trek, Runaway, you may have noticed a resemblance between Po and Commander Nhan. I know I did, enough that I had to check to see who played Nhan. Well, Fred thought Nhan was a Xahean, like Po. However, it’s been determined that she’s a Barzan, the aliens who tried to sell rights to the Barzan wormhole in TNG’s Season 3 episode, “The Price”. This first couple of images focus on Nhan, and how she compares to the Xahean leader, Po and the Barzan leader, Bhavani. STDP 026 – Comparing Po vs. Commander Nhan STDP 026 – Nhan is Barzan Here’s a great pic of Captain Pike, just as Discovery is about to be taken out of warp.
We love Captain Pike! For episode 26 of The Star Trek Discovery Podcast, Ruthie and I discuss the Season 2 premiere of Star Trek: Discovery - S2E1, which is titled, Brother. It was written by Ted Sullivan & Gretchen J. Berg & Aaron Harberts (the latter two were the showrunners at the time this was filmed), and it was directed by the current showrunner and co-creator, Alex Kurtzman. We both loved this supersized movie-like premiere! If you haven't given Discovery a try, this epic episode is one you can jump right in!

Hsoted by Kari Lane, Frank Moran, and Christian Bladt, the team will be breaking down each episode of Star Trek Discovery during the seasons, and in the off time covering classic episodes and topics related to the Star Trek Universe year round! ABOUT STAR TREK DISCOVERY: Star Trek: Discovery is an American television series created for CBS All Access by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman. Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Harberts serve as showrunners on the series, with producing support from Akiva Goldsman. Sonequa Martin-Green stars as Michael Burnham, the first officer of the USS Shenzhou and later the USS Discovery. The Klingons were redesigned for the series, with influence from their previous appearances, the original inspirations for the species, and the n --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app · The Colin and Samir Podcast: The Colin and Samir Podcast hosted by LA - based friends and filmmakers Colin and Samir takes a look into what it’s like to make creativity your career. https://open.spotify.com/show/5QaSbbv2eD4SFrlFR6IyY7?si=Dj3roVoJTZmOime94xhjng

Star Trek: Discovery – Short Treks, Episode 4: The Escape Artist Ruthie and I are back with the fourth and final Short Trek before Season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery! This Short Trek is titled The Escape Artist. It was written by Mike McMahan, who is the showrunner of the new Star Trek: Lower Decks animated series, and it was directed by Rainn Wilson, who also starred in this short. What a surprise! I didn’t have a lot of expectations for this Short Trek, but with a brilliant teleplay and Rainn Wilson’s incredible performance both behind and in front of the camera by Rainn Wilson, I will have to say that this was my favorite Short Trek of the four! We both loved it! Delicious Jipper! Ah yes, jipper!!! If you haven’t been able to see this Short Trek, you may wonder what the deal is with jipper. Well, it’s a drink, one that doesn’t exist yet, but I predict we’ll hear of someone inventing a jipper soon! Sipping jippers on a beach somewhere was the punchline of this story and a big part of what made this short one of the funniest Treks ever! Fred’s Images We have a comparison image from Fred from The Netherlands this time around. This compares the android shots in I, Mudd, using three sets of twins, and this episode, with the many versions of Rainn Wilson. STDP 024 – Fred’s image compares the androids and how they shot them in I, Mudd vs. The Escape Artist. No more After Treks? We also covered some news that is not being reported by the other podcasts or news websites yet. It appears that After Trek is not coming back for Season 2. It was announced back in June that it was being “reimagined” for Season 2, but After Trek has been removed from CBS All Access, both in the standalone app/website and on the CBS All Access Channel on Amazon Prime. If you’re watching internationally via Netflix, and if you’re watching on CraveTV in Canada, you still have access to it, at least for now. Matt Mira, the former host who hosts the popular Star Trek: The Next Conversation podcast, announced on his show that the show is not returning and for Season 2, and that he is not under contract with CBS at this time. He’s offered to return should they need him. It may come back later in Season 2, or for the Picard show, but for now, it’s canceled. Matt implied on his podcast for Patreon subscribers that the budget overruns that caused (at least in part) former showrunners Aaron Harberts and Gretchen J. Berg their jobs were probably the reason why After Trek was canceled. Also, he didn’t find out about getting the hosting job until the Thursday before his first show just a few days later. That explains a lot. That’s it for The Escape Artist! So, that’s it for this mini-episode! We both loved it! We’ll be back with our Season 2 Preview Roundtable in a few days! Star Trek: Discovery – Season 2 and Picard Show News Roundtable! It’s finally time for us to bring you our long-awaited Season 2 News and Picard Show Roundtable!!! Recorded on September 8th, Ruthie and I were joined by two past roundtable participants – Mark Des Cotes from Solo Talk Media, and Steve Brown of the Panels to Pixels Podcast, and two new participants – Mark Deal and Wes Huntington from The Minnesota Star Trek Nerd Podcast. We had some recording glitches during this episode, including some we didn’t know about at the time. More on that later. We start with the news… We reacted to the former co-showrunners Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Harberts being fired from the show for both budget concerns and abuse in the writers’ room. We discussed the announcement of Alex Kurtzman becoming the new showrunner and James Duff later made an executive producer and probable next showrunner. Then, we reacted to the casting announcements of Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One, and, most recently, Ethan Peck as Spock. Onto the trailer!!! Most of us had seen the trailer (one exception… and you’ll have to listen to find out who hasn’t), but we talk about the trailer and our reactions to it. We also talk about what we would like to see in Season 2. Jean-Luc Picard… Is Back!!! After that, we then spend a good deal of time discussing last month’s announcement at Star Trek Las Vegas that the next Star Trek series will be focused around Jean-Luc Picard. We reacted to that announcement; we dissected some of what Patrick Stewart said about the show is and isn’t, and we speculated what the show will be about. What we think some of the other shows might be was also discussed. We finally get to some undiscussed feedback!!! Ruthie and I finally go through some feedback that came in after the end of the season. We recorded that feedback separately, so the other panelists do not participate during that section of the podcast. We STILL didn’t cover EVERYTHING… The “Short Treks“, four shorts covering short stories within the Star Trek: Discovery universe, were not covered in this roundtable. In hindsight, we probably should have. On September 20th, CBS announced that the first of these Short Treks – a Tilly story called Runaway – would be released on October 4th. This would be followed by shorts in November, December, and January. We will definitely be covering the Short Treks next time. A few days after we recorded, CBS CEO Les Moonves resigned amidst allegations of sexual harassment, and since he’s been the driving force behind CBS All Access, I’m sure we will have more to say about this next time. We also didn’t talk much about the existing characters, some of the people involved in the Picard show, like Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon, who also wrote one of the Short Treks, TNG cast talking about the Pi

The whole Shuttle Pod crew is back this week to discuss the season one finale of Star Trek: Discovery. So, take our hand (sorry) and dive into this season’s last episode of Shuttle Pod At The Disco. Star Trek: Discovery Season 1, Episode 15 – Debuted Sunday February 11th, 2018 Written by Aaron Harberts and Gretchen J. Berg and Akvia Goldsman Directed by Akvia Goldsman After a rocky penultimate episode and with so many narrative threads left in the balance, did Discovery pull off a satisfactory conclusion to its inaugural season? The short answer is yes… and no. There really isn’t a short answer, which is why we droned on for an hour and a half dissecting what worked — and what didn’t — in this last week’s finale. In general, many of the pieces that were there were utterly fantastic. As always, the actors brought their A game. The sets on Qo’nos were perhaps some of the best we’ve seen in any Trek TV show, ever. Tilly delighted as always, and her performance was only boosted by the addition of a familiar face who enhanced to a comedic overtone that really worked (plus Tranya). But, think about this episode too hard, and the foundation — the parts of the storyline meant to tie the season’s arc into a nice bow — starts to crumble. Victory comes much too easy for our heroes, and as an audience, we’re not really convinced of why things worked out the way they did. As Jared so aptly pointed out, “they haven’t earned this.”

Kayla and Jared jump on the Shuttle Pod for a look back at the newest episode of Star Trek: Discovery, “Context Is For Kings.” Star Trek: Discovery Season 1, Episode 3 – Debuted Sunday October 1st Written by Gretchen J. Berg & Aaron Harberts & Craig Sweeny Story Bryan Fuller & Gretchen J. Berg & Aaron Harberts Directed by Akiva Goldsman With the third episode of Discovery now out there, in the wild, it feels like we are finally settling into our new home. I’m talking, of course, about the USS Discovery. The two-part pilot episode, which we talked about on the podcast last week, felt more like the prologue to our story. In a traditional sense, episode 3 was our real pilot. We are introduced to the characters (the ones that will be sticking around for the rest of the season), we are shown our new home (The Discovery), and we learn about the story arc that will carry us through the remainder of the season. It’s still very early days for Discovery, and despite the episode’s title, it feels like we are missing the context necessary to really get our teeth around what this story will evolve into. But, that’s part of the mystery and intrigue isn’t it? Listen below as Kayla and Jared break down the episode and discuss what worked, what didn’t, and how Discovery is taking its place within Star Trek canon.
With episodes 1 and 2 of Star Trek: Discovery fresh in our minds, the crew of USS TrekMovie’s Shuttle Pod podcast took to the podwaves to discuss the premiere of the brand new Star Trek show. In this new series, “Shuttle Pod At The Disco,” will cover each episode of Discovery just after it airs. In this, the maiden voyage of the Shuttle Pod At The Disco, Kayla, Matt, Brian, and Jared discuss “The Vulcan Hello” (written by Bryan Fuller and Akiva Goldsman, story by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman, directed by David Semel) and “Battle at the Binary Stars” (written by Aaron Harberts and Gretchen J. Berg, story by Bryan Fuller, directed by Adam Kane). With this being a brand new show, there was a lot to unpack. In our hour-long discussion, we focused on our initial reactions to Discovery and looked at how well episodes 1 and 2 set up the rest of the series in terms of fan service, character development, world building, and how the new show fits into the pre-existing canon. Plus, we take a look at Star Trek’s first ever after show, After Trek, which Brian had the pleasure of attending in person in New York City.
