Pitching a New Trek Series: Enterprise-CThere are "gaps" in Trek history, mostly between the launch of the Enterprise-B and the start of the continuing voyages of the Enterprise-D on "The Next Generation." The trio dives into creating a new series based during the earlier part of the 24th Century with the crew of the USS Enterprise, NCC-1701-C. Just like Captain Christopher Pike, fans already know the tragic ending for Captain Rachel Garrett, Lieutenant Richard Castillo, and the Ambassador-class ship (and alternate universe Tasha Yar!). But even though the episode "Yesterday's Enterprise" tells us the end of the story, what were the missions and untold stories of this crew?In this proposed new series, Captain Garret leads a senior crew of commanders from various alien worlds, along with some familiar faces along the way. A young, wild, and close-to-losing-his-job junior diplomat Curzon Dax helps the Enterprise-C in its mission of patroling Klingon and Romulan space, with a new class of starship that seems more equipped for combat than diplomacy. Will the ship's communications officer be the last one in Starfleet? What lower deck shenanigans are occuring? And why does the Ambassador-class ships become less common in the later part of the 24th Century? All these questions and more are explored in the pitching of a Enterprise-C TV series!
This week on our show, Captain Ingle and I set a course for the mid-23rd century and the continuing voyages of the USS Enterprise under the command of the intrepid Captain Christopher Pike. On this particular adventure, the crew of the USS Cayuga as well as the Enterprise's own Nurse Christine Chapel are trapped on the planet Parnassus Beta when the insidious Gorn invade, and it's up to our heroes to mount a rescue before it's too late! This week, an alien entity sends the crew into a fantasy world draw from a children's story book where Dr. M'Benga must reach the ending of the tale. Join us as we dive into an episode that is very much in the tradition of classics such as The Squire of Gothos and Shore Leave. On this week's show, Captain Christopher Pike himself, Anson Mount, joins us to chat all things Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, plus Candice Carey-Williams drops by to talk about her London-based rap drama, Champion, which we also review. Meanwhile, we head up to cruising altitude with Idris Elba for Hijack on Apple TV+, and end up watching Cannes Confidential on Acorn, because both The Witcher and Jack Ryan were embargoed. Elsewhere, we up the stakes for the live show bake-off, and shocking revelations emerge about the mooted Pilot TV ITVX drama.
BOOK NOOK IS BACK!!! Join Uncle Jim and his Treksperts as we review the first Star Trek Strange New Worlds book, The High Country, by John Jackson Miller. An all-new Star Trek adventure—the first novel based on the thrilling Paramount+ TV series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds! When an experimental shuttlecraft fails, Captain Christopher Pike suspects a mechanical malfunction—only to discover the very principles on which Starfleet bases its technology have simply stopped functioning. He and his crewmates are forced to abandon ship in a dangerous maneuver that scatters their party across the strangest new world they've ever encountered. HIT IT!
In the pilot episode (simulcast with MSV Podcast) Greg Vorob and Dan Hulley get things started with guest Chris Hunter, son of original Captain Christopher Pike actor Jeffrey Hunter and the (aptly) self described world's first Trekker learning of the show in 1964! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/star-trek-undiscovered/support
On this episode, Jeff Akin reviews Star Trek Strange New Worlds, Strange New Worlds (Season 1, Episode 1). He will examine the leadership approaches of Captain Pike. What motivates you? are you motivated by external things or internal? When you are motivated externally, you will often lack confidence and feel threatened. People that are internally motivated are able to be truly authentic in their roles and actively seek the best possible outcomes for their teams. In this episode, Jeff examines Anson Mount's Captain Christopher Pike and how his internal motivation enables him to exude leadership. After last episode's delightful diversion, we have arrived at the season seven playoffs. This week, Matthew, Dan, and Tim are all keen to become the winner of the Chronic Town division, but only ONE can do so, and advance to the season finale. In round one, we'll look at famous non-fiction books that have been adapted into scripted Hollywood movies, before going in the television wayback machine to mashup famous shows' pilot episodes that aired on the same day. And of course, it all comes down to the lightning round. NOTES ⚠️ Inline notes below may be truncated due to podcast feed character limits. Full notes are always on the episode page.

Brian and LT are finally back with an episode recorded in June, covering Strange New Worlds S1E7 The Serene Squall. Although we both considered it a good episode, we also found it our least favorite episode in an outstanding season.

Brian and LT are joined by Rebinge Deep Space Nine and Star Trek Prodigy by RebingeIt co-host James Rowan, as they talk through S1E6 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, titled Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach. Brian and LT didn't like this one as much as the last five episodes but it still got a high rating (9.5). James loved it.

Brian & LT are joined by Wes Huntington, co-host of the Twin Cities Trekkies Podcast as they talk through Star Trek: Strange New Worlds S1E5 titled Spock Amok. This episode was written by co-executive producer Henry Alonso Myers & Robin Wasserman, and Rachel Leiterman directed it. This episode had a great homage to Amok Time, while also being a good character-based romantic comedy. They all loved it, but Brian a little less, he thought probably due to a poor viewing experience.
Half of the new TOTLB team is a pretty big fan of the older Star Trek shows. Juan, the newest member to team Star Trek has been pretty much on board with anything new Star Trek. Today's topic has spun off from Star Trek Discovery, a Star Trek series that isn't the most well liked, BUT he likes it none the less. The spinoff seems to be gaining much more steam though on Paramount+ than it's predecessor. We are talking about Star Trek Strange New Worlds! "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds follows Captain Christopher Pike (played by Anson Mount) and the crew of the starship USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) in the 23rd century as they explore new worlds throughout the galaxy in the decade before Star Trek: The Original Series." With Strange New Worlds, it looks like Star Trek is going back to the days of old, when they were telling monster of the week stories, over big over arching stories during the entire seasons. Yes, there are things that tie everything together, but this definitely seems to be Star Trek of old! If you haven't checked it out yet, you should, and then tell us if we're right or wrong on how we feel about the series!
