Awkward, uncomfortable and cathartic. In today’s episode of The Hacking Happy Podcast I’m trying something different. I’m taking you inside my inner thoughts and opening up my journal to demonstrate the power of leaning into vulnerability and small acts of courage. This felt awkward, uncomfortable and cathartic all at once. The tribe has spoken and asked me for hacks on being more courageous and I felt doing this was a great way to show you what it looks and feels like.I share a recent event that triggered feelings of failure, low self-worth and shame (yes I have these moments!) and how I use journaling to process these feelings in a way that is constructive rather than destructive. If this episode resonates, let me know via hello@hackinghappy.co as I’m keen to have a regular episode where I share an extract from my journal with the intent of helping others in a way that is raw and meaningful.ResourcesIf this resonates why not grab a copy of Hacking Happiness the book here, read it and then share your experience on socials, or if you have a mailing list, share with your subscribers what you've learntIf you’re interested in digging deeper into your own happiness and realising more of it, take a look at our growing suite online programs hereA single private coaching spot is opening up with me in the coming month if you're interested click here to get the details and apply.Where To Find PennyEmailInstagramLinkedInFacebook

There’s so many things that happen in our life that contribute to who we are and who we become – and the series of choices that we make take us down the path we’re on. Therefore, we are responsible for our part in the outcome. At the end of the day, we all just want to be happy, and learning how to make the best choices and leverage them to find happiness is crucial for our wellbeing. One element that helps us make the best decisions is our capacity of not giving our worth away – and in this special episode, my guest is going to teach us how to master the ability to keep our self-worth along the way.Alison Donaghey is a happiness hacker and she believes that worthiness is the foundation of everything that we do. We can connect with our worth internally and have a strong foundation in life, or we can connect with it externally and have a foundation that she says, “Is built on sand”.Life is truly more remarkable when we can learn to reclaim the worth we were born with. Some people may have a hard time being in touch with it, and Alison is the go-to person when it comes to this. She has a background in psychology, criminology, sociology, and probably more important she was a single mom on welfare when she started her business and developed it to the point where she has a tremendous following.Listen to Episode 50 of Rejuvenaging, to learn the ways in which you can reclaim your worth, a birthright that has a tremendous influence on your ability to thrive in your personal life, as well as in your career. Some questions I ask:For those who don’t know you yet, how did you get to be who you are? (07:30)What makes you different? (13:05)Is it easier for somebody to reclaim their worth if they’ve had it taken away from them later on, than if they grew up in a household where they were demeaned from the beginning? (15:14)What advice do you have for people that lost their self-worth during this pandemic? (17:20)When do people realize that they need your program? What are they experiencing? (27:29) Where did the name of your website – dominothinking.com – come from? (30:16)In this episode, you’ll learn:How Alison understood and came to the realization that taking ownership of her life was the only thing that would help her move forward. (10:02)The ways in which people try to get their external worth & How that stops them from being happy. (13:25)How Alison’s painting company empowers people to make their own informed choices. (14:27)A simple hack that helps you reclaim your worth. (16:36)How to figure out your shining light. (21:27)The importance of staying in your own lane when it comes to choices. Today's guest came into my world towards the end of last year when I was blessed to meet her at The Singularity U conference in Sydney. Her name is Penny Locaso and when we started working together - I knew that the right person had entered my life at exactly the right time.At that time, on a personal level I was working around the clock and I was struggling to balance the long list of priorities that came with being an entrepreneur, along with being a relatively new mum, a fionsai, daughter and friend. In many ways I had never been more ‘successful’ in the traditional sense of the world - but in other ways I was tired and feeling pretty overwhelmed.I want to use a galloping horse here as a metaphor. Let's call this galloping horse quote unquote ‘busy’. While dismounting from a standing horse is easy getting off a galloping one feels dangerous and scary. It is a landing that is undeniably going to hurt. Sometimes it feels easier just to hang on for dear life….but that choice is stressful. I know that feeling! And while I leave you pondering the galloping horse - lets add some context. I am on the galloping horse and covid 19 hits. It's a crisis yes - but it is also the one thing that makes that horse come to a halt. Finally I can get off the horse.I use this busy horse metaphor today because if you are like me….you may not want to get back on that galloping horse without any breaks. And definitely not with the same speed or in the same way.For me - I want to use this time to adapt and to build the foundations of what happiness is in my world and then I will be ready to ride again. But this time on a horse where I feel safe. This is the exact reason why I knew Penny Locaso was the person I wanted to get some advice from on what that horse looks like. After all it's not often we get the chance to choose again.Voted one of the most influential female entrepreneurs in Australia Penny is the world’s first Happiness Hacker, on a mission to teach 10 million humans, by 2025, how to intentionally adapt in order to future-proof happiness.Penny Locaso is the Founder of BKindred and the creator of The Intentional Adaptability Quotient. Certainly the world will be a different place after COVID-19, but there are ways we can design positive outcomes for the future, not just for ourselves but for future generations to come. This is the first episode of the (Re)Design Your Life series which will explore how the lives of individuals across the globe are getting on, how their lives have changed, what their coping mechanisms are and insights into what the future holds for us. In this episode, Vince chats with Penny Locaso about how her role as a ‘Happiness Hacker' has prepared her for the COVID-19 experience. Penny left a successful 16-year corporate career, relocated her family from Perth to Melbourne, left an 18-year relationship and started her own purpose-driven company with the sole intent of positively impacting the lives of others. She's quite used to drastic life changes. “Focus on what you can control, not what you can't”, she says. “You can't control the situation, but you can always control how you respond to a situation”, she says, “which will impact your mindset. Accept the things you can't change and ask yourself, ‘how am I going to make sure each day is the best day it can be?'” A well of sound advice and positive guidance, Penny also shares how she's adapted her business, BKindred, to virtual working, and how the current need for human connection is actually helping to level the professional playing field. For episode 56 of Offline, host Alison Rice sits down with Happiness Hacker and founder of BKindred, Penny Locaso. The pair met as speakers on Pink Hope’s Women Who Lead panel in 2019, and quickly bonded over their shared mission to help people connect with what really matters. The advice Penny generously shares in this episode will help you face your fears and step into your future. She’s been voted one of the most influential female entrepreneurs in Australia and is currently writing her first book. But before that, she was working as a senior executive with a salary into the hundreds of thousands and like so many women before her, put her career before her own happiness.Penny seemingly had it all. The corporate role and salary, the house, the cars and the holidays. And then one day, she got up and walked away from it all. Why? Because she realised she wasn’t Being, she was just doing. So instead, she chose happiness. Both for herself, and hopefully by 2025, 10 million other people.BKindred is the world’s first educational program and measurement tool designed to humanise the future through the amplification of the Intentional Adaptability Quotient.
