After a long hiatus, Daring Greatly Podcast is back—and we're taking it back to the heart of why this podcast was created in the first place: embracing vulnerability. In this episode, I reflect on the journey that led me away from the mic and, more importantly, what has brought me back. Life has been full—overflowing with learning, growth, and deep alignment with my purpose. And yet, I've realized that even in seasons of joy, vulnerability still plays a vital role. Because showing up fully in the good times—without foreboding joy or bracing for loss—requires just as much courage as showing up in the hard times.Together, we'll revisit the perspective that changed my life, exploring Dr Brené Brown's wisdom on:✨ What vulnerability really is—and why it's not weakness.✨ The link between shame, fear, and our ability to experience joy.✨ How numbing discomfort also numbs love, gratitude, and connection.✨ The practice of wholehearted living and believing, "I am enough."This episode is an invitation—to myself and to you—to lean back into courage and to dare greatly once again. If this conversation resonates with you, share your thoughts with me! Let's keep this dialogue going on Instagram @DaringMediaZA Keep showing up, keep leaning in, and keep daring greatly.Support the show
This week on More Than a Lumpy Jumper, Bobby revisits the mini-episode, “Cultivating Play and Rest… but Mostly Play,” from Christmas 2023. Inspired by Brené Brown's work and the National Institute of Play, she reflects on why play is essential for creativity, problem-solving, and leadership, how to rediscover play as adults (hint: it's not lost, just forgotten!) and the fascinating “Play Personalities” and what they reveal about how we lead and connect. Play isn't a luxury—it's the key to joy, alignment, and even better leadership. Ready to bring more play into your life? Take a listen to this mini of a mini now! Through my experiences, both triumphant and challenging, I unpack common misconceptions about wholehearted living and offer practical advice on navigating the discomfort of vulnerability. Learn why taking a step back to reset and recharge is essential, and discover the profound impact of letting go of the invisible chains that hold us back.In this episode, let's explore together why wholehearted living isn't just about being perpetually joyful but about fully experiencing the spectrum of human emotions. I challenge the myth that we must face life's journey alone and highlight the immense value that comes from building meaningful connections and seeking community support. By leaning into discomfort and allowing ourselves to be seen, we gain the courage to embrace life's complexities with authenticity and purpose. What an awesome topic!! #108 The Wholehearted Parenting Manifest by Brene BrownAre you as big of a Brene Brown fan as I am? When I found this manifesto on her website, I knew I needed to share it with my audience. As I begin this series into helping parents who have a child that has left the LDS church, please keep this manifesto in mind. As we work on differentiating ourselves from our children, spouse, and others, we need to keep in mind that living a wholehearted life is equal parts head work and heart work. When you don't know what to do or what to focus on, look at this manifesto to remind you this is just as much about you showing up and living in a wholehearted way as it is anything else. Brene Brown has a chart of how to cultivate ‘wholehearted' living which has always intrigued me. It reads like a 'how-to' manual of living an intentional life. Last week I had an incredible experience of being in a place that I think embraces wholehearted living in a holistic way. I believe living authentically requires us to pay attention to true wellness: Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual. As I experienced this special place, I was hyper-aware that not everyone has the means or the privilege to travel to a wellness resort. So, I wanted to share my biggest takeaways from Rancho La Puerta, and how I believe we can incorporate the spirit of “the Ranch” wherever we are! This episode invites you into the world of play, rest, movement and more. Discover how food, community and music can play a part in true wellness. Then, see how you can incorporate these pricipals of whole-istic wellness in your everyday life. The teaching of the Ranch are the essence of living an intentional life! These next few weeks we are going to be unpacking parts of the book of Deuteronomy. This book is part of the Pentateuch (the first five books of the bible) or what our Jewish brothers and sisters call the Torah. Deuteronomy is not a book that advances the Scriptures much in any way historically or otherwise. It is really just a repeat, a summary of the previous four books, but being a summary does not mean it does not have value. In fact, this book contains Moses' last words to his people as their leader before the mantle of leadership is passed onto Joshua. These are the last words Moses speaks before the Israelites finally enter the Promised Land. This week, we learn that through a trip down memory lane, the Israelites are reminded of their failure in trusting God. Yet, God's grace is found in the generations which will follow after them. Passage: Deuteronomy 6:4-9 We are thrilled to kick off a Capital Campaign that has been 12 years in the making! We have an incredible opportunity to shape the faith of generations to come. What an opportunity we have to be a part of this! This renovation is estimated to cost $4.5 million. As a part of this church family, we are encouraging every member of our family to participate during our six week campaign. We invite you to consider how you might prayerfully and sacrificially give to the future of our church. We look forward to us building together for generations to come. In the series, we dive into letting go of perfection in exchange for being imperfect, vulnerable and, yes, worthy of God's love and belonging just as we are. As Christians, we found a lot of resounding themes within the wisdom of this book, and connected it to our life of faith. Over the next 5 weeks, gain insight as to how you can better value yourself as a beloved child of God, let go of what you think you're supposed to be, and embrace who you really are in God's eyes.
