In part 2 of the four part series on What should you buy? Mike is joined by James Rankin, property advisor with Elephant Advisory in Melbourne. Here Mike and James delve into the ongoing debate – should you buy a bright shiny new property or are you better off investing in one that's already established? Drawing on years of combined experience, Mike and James talk us though the pros and cons of buying in a new development compared to an already established property.

By now, many of you know Mike Robinson, the founder of the Global Cannabinoid Research Center, TSC Talks’ Director of Research and Development, and among many other titles, he is also the formulator of various topicals and cannabinoid products which help thousands of people through an extensive and impressive compassion care project. Last week Mike shared some of his thoughts on the advancements in the cannabinoid medicine and gave the public an update about the different things that are currently going on, including his corporations, AMA certified endocannabinoid courses through the Global Cannabinoid Research Center, and a successful press release about his story and transition “From Compassion Care to Cannabis Philanthropy” Wondering what Mike is going through right now? Here are some thoughts: “I wanted to talk about so many advancements in cannabinoid medicine, as we're still giving away compassion products. We've got capsules, we've got tinctures, and still custom blending some stuff for people that seriously need it. We've got all kinds of activity going on.” “In the last couple of days, a press release was published in over 100 newspapers. In order to see the new compassion drive, we've got to create it. And the only way to create a new compassion is through philanthropy. It's not going to happen the way it used to.” “Through this giveaway, over 12,000 products have left my home. My hands have been on every single box that was made here. I've talked to every single person, or Anne Mari has, but that type of compassion is over.” “This giveaway was a way to bring back to light attention to people what it was like, back in the days of compassion, back in the days where we just wrote on bottles and gave away things, and helped people everywhere. Now, things have changed.” Mike expresses the struggle of keeping up with such an amazing program that not only brings joy to others, but also to himself, knowing that he is helping so many people as so many share gratitude for his continuous effort. Mike also talks about his corporations and how they all come together, to fund the Carousel Challenge, and the compassion program: “How are we going to fund compassion? How possibly can one guy fill 12,000 boxes every three months and make sure people have that? That won't work! The only thing we can do is fund corporations. So what you're going to find is you've got Nanobles incorporated with my partner in the Bay Area, working hard right now with the prototypes that were created a couple of months ago, looking for investors for that Corporation, which is also set up to fund the Carousel Challenge. Relaxation Revolution is also set up to fund the Carousel Challenge. Genevieve’s Dream incorporated is pushing forward, getting investment funds, also set up to fund the Carousel Challenge, which builds a $12.5 million Developmental Center for kids and adults with developmental delays with funds from cannabis oils. Now, isn't that compassion? To create corporations that fund what our kids need and young adults need with developmental delays and making it an amusement park so you and I can go and have fun at the place and watch a bunch of smiling faces, because we need to smile. And one thing for sure, people with developmental delays are a lot happier than most of us.” Among his hands-on skills, Mike has the ability to pass on his knowledge with AMA Certified Courses that can be found at the Global Cannabinoid Research Center website. Dr. Perry Solomon states that “This course sets the standards for quality education materials regarding the endocannabinoid system and cannabis.” Here Mike expresses the importance of these courses: “I've got multiple different things I'm working on right now, including some investigative medicine with the universities. I'm starting to pair up with some different researchers to change the face of medicine and that's what we're looking to do. I was approached and asked if I would like to help change the face of medicine, and I very much do! We very much need to have cannabinoid medicine as mainstream in oncology, in neurology, etc. “ “We need doctors to be able to go to the Global Cannabinoid Research Center website, take the course on the endocannabinoid system, and learn! We now have available the 12 continuing medical education units on my website so doctors can learn. So if your doctor tells you ‘I don't know enough about cannabis to be comfortable’ tell them there's the Global Cannabinoid Research Center website with an AMA approved course on it, so you can get certified. Quit telling me you don't know enough because there's more than enough to know. Every day I review over 200 to 300 new research studies that have popped out. It's more than incredible. As they work with other researchers around the world, what I find is the advances are just amazing. And that's one reason why I made Relaxation Revolution.” Mike’s Specializations: “I specialize in pretty much as an expert in nanotechnology, in the creation of terpene glycosides. The technology created is in the process of being patented. It basically breaks off the water-soluble part of the terpene, what’s in the nano itself. They've been out there for a while, but I don't make nano terpenes. What I do is add mono and other sesquiterpenes to nano and I break them. Scientists are like ‘Mike, what does that mean?’ We are in the next level of cannabinoid medicine. THC and CBD will always be great. Because I'm a researcher, I don't pay for research and development. I create research and development on a daily basis. Now this product line will get absorbed by a corporation. That's a fact. There's multiple trying to buy it right now. I may move it over to Nanobles Incorporation, will probably also get offered with the Forests by The Source Cannabinoids, which is a corporation I own half of. The Source Cannabinoids has all kinds of forests.” “What I'm unfolding is a plan to create many corporations. They want what I make, and guess what, I won't allow you to put your label on here. If you own a company, you cannot buy white label. You cannot co-label this. This is my creation. You can come to me if you're in the industry and pay and have it wholesale to sell, so it can continually find compassion. So, continually, we can take this product and make it ‘buy one get one’. That is my plan for Relaxation Revolution, because it's a lot more than just a topical that smells really good.” “We've looked at CBD, we look at thousands and thousands of different CBD products, and I'm not saying it's not a great cannabinoid, but the base is very expensive. I'm not seeing CBD prices dropped like they should. These prices are way too high. Nano is way more expensive. So how can my nano topical, 250 active milligrams, 2500 milligram extract is only $29? Because that's all it should cost! When I sent this out to be appraised, the value came back at $89. So I'm supposed to sell this to you for $89 even though it only costs me 10 bucks or 11 bucks to make? That's the industry. I don't like the industry. So I'm entering the industry to destruct. I do not like watching patients suffer. I do not like reading the emails and messages that I get on who's needing help from thousands and thousands of people that can't afford CBD. And I'm watching all these CBD companies let their stock just get old- That's how I got a million dollars as a CBD to give you guys. What kind of philanthropy is that? How are you setting an example? What possibly are you doing to change the world when you need to throw away a big old pile of plastic, glass, cardboard, and styrofoam because you could not sell your product? When I asked is to give it away. But continually, the industry doesn't want to give it away. I want to say that I want to give it to you all day long. Zdeno Chara has inked another one-year extension with the Bruins.  We discuss the benefits of having one of the best defensemen in the NHL back for another year. Tampa Bay and Boston have the two best points records this season.  Is this a product of how much better they are than the rest of the league or is the rest of the league just average or worse?  As we discuss, it becomes clear that we disagree on which is the correct choice, but they aren’t the only two choices.  We would love to hear what you think. Toronto is no stranger to controversy when it comes to their hockey team, and Mike Babcock may have inadvertently brought up another touchy subject when he discussed the depth of his team with the media.  Of course this led the media to write that there may be a rift between Babcock and Dubas. Chris feels that this is much ado about nothing but there could be something behind the scenes.  Where do you land? There is a street hockey game that takes place on Chestnut Street in Salem, MA every year.  The story is that this game has taken place for over 40 years!  The participants travel from over an hour away, the ages range from the early 20s to mid 60s, and the whole community gets behind it.  A feel-good story to be sure and one that puts the love of hockey on display for all to see. At this point we delve into our main topic…the Jack Adams award for best coach in the NHL.  As Mike and Chris have known each other for a number of years, their lists are almost identical.  The one difference is between Barry Trotz and Bill Peters.  This is also the topic of our Twitter poll this week, so we would love to hear your thoughts on who should get the award. Jumping right in, Mike discusses the competitive nature of the California Used Car Dealer Industry and some the costs associated with just getting your DMV Dealer License.   Then once you are licensed and you are ready to blaze the trail as a wholesalers, auto broker, or retailer dealer then the operating costs start to hit you. Auction fees, DMV fees, interest to your flooring company, dealer insurance, etc. This is why the used car dealer has to be super click in 2018 and be clicking on all cylinders in order to really compete in today's aggressive business climate.   That still doesn't mention the competitors that are coming for your business EVERY DAY! In 2018, you are not only battling curbstoners (dealers without a license), other used car dealers, peer-to-peer sellers, but also new car dealers.   For this reason, you need every advantage you can get and taking in useful data and educating yourself (and your staff will be your key). A common saying in the business world is the company with the most data wins. It just so happened to be on the same exact subject which was the SWOT analysis. For this reason, Mike decided in real time to cut a part 2 of the SWOT Analysis because the audiences seem to appreciate this particular content. So expect a much deeper dive into how to analyze, leverage, and improve on your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.   I also run down some of the best in the business at delivering high-quality content and make it super compelling also. Here are the folks I have learned the most from in 2018: Gary Vee, Billy Jean, Sunny Lenarduzzi, Roberto Blake, and Marie Forleo (even though a bit less).   I even discuss the minor differences I see in the content between Neil Patel (founder of KissMetrics), Brain Dean (the founder of Backlinko), and someone like Ruan Marinho (founder of Develomark). I make no claims of the services that they render, my only assessment here is of their video content.   Here we unravel one of the most simple yet critical cornerstones of sales and it's connect-ability. How easy is it for someone to relate to you. If they can relate to you as a person, they are more likely to trust you in the product or service that you are selling. This may be one of your most important weapons in fighting off those you are competing with as a used car dealer in 2018. Leverage this skill for everything it's worth and then some!   Also keep an eye out for the YCDB Forum, another great recourse to give your feedback and create more relationships with used auto dealers on sides of the state. I always thought that it could be super useful for a busy retail dealer in Los Angeles or San Jose to have great connections with dealers out in Selma, Visalia, or Madera, or Tracy. These are great towns that have to operate on a lower profit margin in general so they typically will be buying vehicles at a lower purchase price than you out at the Bay Cities Manheim Auction or at CADE down in Anaheim.   New Podcast Segment…Winning on a Technicality! Mike tells a story of how he was just beaten on a technicality by his own son. Here Mike discusses how you can win on a technicality and still not being any closer to your success. Think of it this way, do you want to be right or do you want to be happy?   Another Segment…Reasons to Love and Hate the Industry! Sales pedigree for used car dealers is probably as close to best in class in California and in 2018. This is something I love but there is also the other side which is the old outdated sales mechanics.   Another thing to love and hate about the used car dealer industry is the organization and disorganization. Dealer Management Software is typically how the organized dealers are actually able to analyze and keep their information categorized in a way that is helpful to them for years to come. Then there are my other scatter-brain dealers that are very disorganized and their results reflect it.   As usual, Mike gives a shout out to someone who has made a difference in his life or business career. The parliament of the European Union narrowly voted down legislation intended to control copyright violations on the internet. The sponsors of the legislation argued that multinational internet companies like Google were essentially stealing content from newspapers and publishers. Their proposed fix would have levied what critics called a “link tax” on hyperlinked content, making it prohibitively expensive for a program like Google News to aggregate news content. In addition, the rules would have essentially forced platforms like Youtube that rely on user-uploaded content, like Youtube, to put in place content filters to screen out copyrighted content. However, the expense of these filters and regulatory compliance would have, ironically, given the major companies an advantage over smaller startups, leading to a less competitive internet. In addition, the content filters would have accidentally excluded legitimate non-copyrighted material, including memes, parodies, and covers. Although this was European legislation, the legislation has implications for American regulatory policy, including the new SESTA/FOSTA rules.Further Readings/References:In this article, Mike argues that this legislation would turn the internet into tv, “a limited broadcast medium only for those who are pre-checked by gatekeepers.”Any content filter will accidentally exclude legitimate conflict.
