Hungry People Matthew 14:13-21 (CSB) 13 When Jesus heard about it, he withdrew from there by boat to a remote place to be alone. When the crowds heard this, they followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When he went ashore, he saw a large crowd, had compassion on them, and healed their sick. 15 When evening came, the disciples approached him and said, “This place is deserted, and it is already late. Send the crowds away so that they can go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” 16 “They don't need to go away,” Jesus told them. “You give them something to eat.” 7 “But we only have five loaves and two fish here,” they said to him. 18 “Bring them here to me,” he said. 19 Then he commanded the crowds to sit down on the grass. He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them. He broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. 20 Everyone ate and was satisfied. They picked up twelve baskets full of leftover pieces. 21 Now those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children. Jimmy Chen, founder/CEO of Propel and Ofek Lavian, founder/CEO of Forage, explain how they are harnessing the power of technology to ensure more people can easily access government food benefits. “We believe that well-fed people have many problems, but hungry people have only one,” saysk Lavian. Both companies make it easier for people to access and maximize benefits online and through apps. “We build technology because we see it as the tool that is underappreciated and underutilized in this sector to create the outcomes of… safety net programs meeting their promise for Americans,” says Chen. Can you believe that, in 2023, we are fast approaching one billion people in our world who do not have enough food to eat? There are so many in our world who are facing critical food shortages and the results are devastating. Approximately 850 million people worldwide are estimated to be undernourished, and higher food prices threaten to increase it by another 100 million. That means nearly 1 in 8 people in the world today is hungry or starving. According to data from the United Nations, some 25,000 people die each day from hunger and related causes, including more than 10,000 children. While no one can fully solve this problem alone, at Lakeshore Community Church we are working to do our part to combat this hunger epidemic. In this series, we'll learn what God says about how we can help some people move from hunger to hope. We'll also have an opportunity for everyone to practically do something to help people move from hunger to hope by being a part of the Feed My Starving Children food packing event, and financially supporting it through Making Waves 2024.

Hey Guys! Welcome back to the podcast. Today, I interview Brandon Steiner and we discuss a variety of topics around health, veganism & consuming animal products. It was a pleasure to chat with Brandon as he brought a lot of great energy and information to the show. Now, I don't necessarily agree with everything that he says nor does he agree with everything I say, yet we are still able to find some common ground in all areas. Please leave a comment with any of your thoughts below! Also, don't go thinking that I am going to go out and eat a steak anytime soon... not going to happen. Many of us have heard stories about Jesus – how he fed 5,000 people, turned water into wine, flipped over a table at the temple… and, of course, the biggest one of all, how he died and rose again. But what do these stories actually tell us? Who was (and is) this Jesus guy really? What do the stories from his life have to do with the story of ours? Join us this March for “Jesus Who?” and find out who Jesus really is, why he came, and what that can mean for you, now.

Crazy that it has been 5 years since this journey started. I really have learned so much. Lots of positives, lots of negatives, lots of upsides, lots of downsides, met so many amazing people along the way, and more!! I wouldn't change it for the world. I am so happy to be where I am right now with my health and food and don't necessarily want or need to change. Despite this, there are some hardships that have really been annoying me and take a toll on me. I speak about them in this episode. I don't want to make it seem like that is all this episode is about because it is not!! I speak on a lot so make sure to listen to the whole episode :)Yes, this is the last episode of The Hungry People Podcast... for now! See you in some other videos, though! The vegan agenda!! Bill Gates is out to get everyone, right? What about the killing of billions of animals each year so that food gets put on your plate? What about the fact that people can't go a day without putting animal cow puss in their coffee in the morning? What about people not evening knowing how to eat a meal without animal products? But there is a vegan agenda? To think that there actually is one, is quite maniacal and laughable at this point. There is a lot to think about before making statements like that. James Aspey, vegan activist, released a video discussing why he was off social media for some time. He did have some issues with his back, but one of the main reasons was because of body pain due to stress and tension from vegan advocacy. I believe there are better ways to advocate for the animals than getting into arguments with people online, debating with family & friends or even getting to the point of physically fighting people. I have so much respect for James and what he has done/gone through. I just wish he didn't have to deal with this kind of pain for doing what he's doing. Not only is water intake controversial, but what kind of water to drink is controversial! We see a lot of people nowadays saying you need to drink structured water with minerals and electrolytes added back into the water and that you shouldn't drink plain water. Whether that is true or not, I believe there are a lot of factors that go into it. How do you feel when drinking plain water? How much are you peeing? How active are you? What are you eating in general? Are you drinking juice? Are you eating fruit? Where are you getting your water intake from? See what I mean? I actually would love to try different kinds of waters and see how they feel! Would be a great experiment. What are your thoughts on water and drinking plain water? In 1984, Billy and Debby Shore founded Share our Strength in response to famine in Ethiopia, a mission that soon expanded to ending hunger in America. Their singular focus on hunger deepened our collective consciousness and involved elected officials, the culinary industry, advocates, and low-income communities in securing solutions. They launched No Kid Hungry, a campaign that connects families, many of whom are working people of color with low wage jobs, to public resources, from WIC to SNAP. As Jillien Meier, Director of Partnerships & Campaign Strategy explains, ending hunger is complex and nuanced. It requires understand the byzantine rules and myriad of systems involved in accessing food, pressing Congress to reauthorize and improve the Farm Bill and Children Nutrition Act, and listening to directly impacted families with lived experience. Jillien reminds us that while No Kid Hungry has always held that hunger is a non-partisan issue, during the pandemic it became decidedly political. Flexibility to USDA programs granted during the pandemic enabled providers to bring food to children when schools were shut down. The next step is to make these changes permanent and fully commit to what is possible.
What's good! Today I talk about whether or not you should eat in the morning. There are a lot of factors that go into it, but my 'yes' or 'no' is YES! How much? Different story. It is good to give your body some fuel to start your day so you are not running on adrenaline, cortisol and back up fuel. It's okay to eat in the morning! No need to be afraid.Episode 53, NYC: A Beautiful Experience discussing my colonic: https://youtu.be/t8uQSbWTlq8Medical Disclaimer: This is not medical or health advice. Life can be chaotic. We need to be cognizant of that and realize that not everyone can just wake up early and go to the gym, bike for fours hours a day, train for marathons, be a bodybuilder, etc. We need to be realistic for all people and take into consideration what each individual person is going through. Being emphatic is crucial for situations like this. It's not all about "stop being a pussy" but actually taking each person as they are and handling their situation in an appropriate manner.
