Una postura que busca marcar agenda en seguridad y salud pública que abre un debate sobre cómo enfrentar esta crisis, pero ¿qué implica esta declaratoria? Yussef Núñez, analista internacional y subdirector de consultoría para EMPRA, nos habla al respecto. El cohete V2, nombre técnico A4 (Aggregat 4), fue un misil balístico desarrollado a principios de la Segunda Guerra Mundial en Alemania, dirigido específicamente hacia Bélgica y lugares del sudeste de Inglaterra. Este cohete fue el primer misil balístico de combate de largo alcance del mundo y el primer artefacto humano conocido que hizo un vuelo sub orbital. Fue el progenitor de todos los cohetes modernos, incluyendo los utilizados por los programas espaciales de Estados Unidos y de la Unión Soviética, que tuvieron acceso a los científicos y diseños alemanes a través de la Operación Paperclip y la Operación Osoaviakhim respectivamente. La Wehrmacht alemana lanzó en torno a 3.000 cohetes militares V2 contra objetivos Aliados durante la guerra, principalmente Londres y posteriormente Amberes, dando por resultado la muerte de un número estimado de 7.250 personas, tanto civiles como militares. El arma fue presentada por la propaganda Nazi como una venganza por los bombardeos sobre las ciudades alemanas desde 1942 hasta el final de la guerra. Diseñados por Wernher von Braun, muchos de estos misiles fueron disparados desde las costas francesas hacia Londres con el fin de provocar la mayor devastación posible, así como minar la moral del enemigo. Sucesor de la V1 (que era un misil de crucero), este diseño no vio la luz hasta muy avanzada la guerra, por lo que tuvo poco impacto real en esta. El V2 fue uno de los avances más relevantes en tecnología armamentística logrados hasta ese momento. Sin embargo, no pudo cambiar el curso de la guerra, que ya había tomado, en 1944, un giro decisivo hacia la victoria aliada.

Mary's "Magnificat" is pretty revolutionary. It isn't praising God for abstract blessings, but for real material events, all of which have to do with radical social justice. And this makes sense, given the world Mary lived in. She was a young Jewish woman, likely from a poor family, in a nation that was occupied by the Roman Empire. Since she was not a citizen, she lacked various protections and rights. Her son Jesus would eventually be executed by that Empire, on suspicion of revolution—and his execution would be in the brutal form of crucifixion, since he didn't enjoy the protection of citizenship.  We know there were revolutionary groups in first-century Roman-occupied Palestine. And we know Jesus was executed because the imperial regime viewed him as a revolutionary. What would Mary have thought about those groups? Does her Magnificat indicate that she favored them? Can we call Mary a revolutionary? Venezuela ha decidido retirar los permisos para volar a seis aerolíneas, en represalia por su decisión de anular temporalmente sus vuelos ante las tensiones militares con Estados Unidos. El resultado de esta disputa tiene un alto impacto en la movilidad, en víspera de las fiestas navideñas. Las compañías española Iberia, portuguesa TAP, colombiana Avianca, brasileño-chilena Latam, brasileña GOL y Turkish Airlines se han visto retirar por Venezuela sus permisos para volar. Caracas les acusa de sumarse a las acciones de terrorismo de Estado promovidas por Estados Unidos. “Quedarían solamente aerolíneas locales” La decisión puede afectar a unos 15.000 pasajeros semanales, los que suman las seis aerolíneas, que representan el 40 % del tráfico internacional. Iberia, por ejemplo, es el principal enlace directo entre Venezuela y Europa: en lo que va del año, ha movilizado a 82.000 pasajeros.  La suspensión de los vuelos tiene un gran impacto en la región, pues afecta también las rutas con otros países y deja sin alternativa a los pasajeros, como explica Guillermo de Armas, abogado venezolano experto en aeronáutica: “El impacto inicial de esta decisión tiene que ver con más de 30 frecuencias que se estarían afectando semanalmente en Venezuela por las operaciones que implican estas aerolíneas”, indica. Entonces, “quedarían solamente aerolíneas locales, y ninguna de ellas estaría habilitada para volar hacia el espacio aéreo europeo por el tema de equipos, porque como operan con equipos alquilados, no tienen capacidad. Entonces el pasajero que está siendo afectado para la ruta a Europa quedaría varado”, subraya De Armas. “Lo que está haciendo Venezuela es autoperjudicarse” Esto sucede en medio del despliegue estadounidense en la zona, en operaciones contra el narcotráfico. La semana pasada, Estados Unidos instó a las compañías que operan en el espacio aéreo venezolano y el Caribe a extremar las precauciones porque no se dan las condiciones de seguridad. “No es voluntario que las compañías aéreas no quieran volar a Venezuela. Lo que no quieren es arriesgarse, ni arriesgar su seguridad ni la seguridad de los pasajeros. Los precios se van a incrementar, las dificultades van a ser aún mayores porque se ha perdido un porcentaje de plazas aéreas notable revocando los permisos. Pero lo que está haciendo Venezuela es autoperjudicarse, porque prácticamente no tiene opciones para salir al exterior ni opciones para salir a Europa en vuelos directos”, analiza Javier Ortega, consultor aeronáutico. Todo esto sucede en uno de los momentos de mayor actividad, por la cercanía de las fiestas navideñas: “Siendo el inicio de la temporada alta, representaría un incremento de lo que es el precio por el tema de la ley de oferta y demanda. Entonces simplemente la Navidad de mucha gente en Venezuela, tanto los que viven adentro como los que están afuera, se ve imposibilitada, ya sea para visitar a los familiares, para hacer negocios o simplemente una vacación”, recalca De Armas. Las compañías afectadas dicen que reanudarán las operaciones en cuanto puedan, si Caracas no lo impide.

Chris Armas is a 2025 inductee into the US Soccer Hall of Fame. During his playing career, he played 12 seasons in Major League Soccer for the LA Galaxy and Chicago Fire, and was a 5x MLS Best XI selection, an MLS and US Open Cup Champion, and played 66 games for the US National Team. The 2000 US Soccer Player of the Year and 2005 MLS Comeback Player of the Year, untimely injuries derailed his inclusion in the 2002 and 2006 US World Cup teams. After retireing from playing, Chris began a coaching career that has taken him to assistant coach roles at Manchester United and Leeds United, as well as MLS Head Coaching stops with the NY Red Bulls (2018 Supporters Shield winners), Toronto FC, and in 2024-2025 the Colorado Rapids. In 2024, he led the Rapids to a remarkable improvement of 23 points, finishing 7th after finishing dead last in 2023. For this he was named an MLSCoach of the Year finalist. In 2025, the Rapids missed out on the playoffs on the final day, and Armas and the Rapids agreed to part ways. In our conversation today, Chris and John discuss the importance of building strong relationships with athletes, establishing trust, and helping each player get better. We discuss his time in England, meeting Sir Alex Ferguson, the British press, and his time in Colorado including the the joys of 2024 and the heartbreak of missing out on the 2025 players due to a stoppage time goal.
