[47:36] What happens when 20 years and hundreds of conversations change the way you communicate, listen, and tell stories? In this special milestone episode, guest host Ryan Levesque turns the microphone around on Greg Gazin to reflect on the journey behind The Toastmasters Podcast, ToastCaster, and the lessons learned along the way. From launching a podcast as a Toastmasters High Performance Leadership project in 2006 to becoming host and producer of The Toastmasters Podcast, Greg shares how podcasting transformed not only his communication skills, but also the way he approaches conversations, uncovers stories, and connects with people.Along the way, the conversation revisits unforgettable moments, including interviews that created vivid “movies in the mind,” emotional discussions that revealed the human side of leadership, and the unexpected lessons that emerged from hundreds of conversations inside and outside Toastmasters.Greg also reflects on how his interviewing style evolved over time. What began as a focus on asking the “right” questions gradually became something else: learning to listen more carefully, follow curiosity, and help stories unfold naturally. The episode also includes a few behind-the-scenes stories, podcasting flubs, and some unexpected moments listeners likely will not see coming.Listeners will also hear…• How podcasting and Toastmasters helped supercharge Greg's communication skills• How Greg evolved from question asker to “story builder”• Why curiosity matters more than asking the “perfect” question• The conversation that literally gave Greg shivers while recording• A few memorable podcasting flubs and behind-the-scenes moments• The origin of Greg's “conversational runway” interviewing approach• Why some of the best podcast moments happen completely off-script• Lessons learned from guest and former co-hostSome of the most meaningful moments did not come from carefully planned questions. They came from unexpected turns, honest reflections, and the willingness to go a little deeper. And after hundreds of conversations, one lesson stands out above all: when people feel heard, remarkable stories often emerge.Greg's article, Reflecting Back: How a Simple Podcasting Project Developed into an Incredible Journey, appears in the June 2026 issue of the Toastmaster magazine. .Some additional episodes and resources mentioned in this conversation include:• #082 Introducing Greg Gazin - Newest Host of The Toastmasters Podcast • #084 Meet the 2014 World Champion of Public Speaking, Dananjaya Hettiarachchi • #100 Meet the 2015 World Champion of Public Speaking, Mohammed Qahtani• #104 Surviving Everest & the Nepali Earthquake with Sara Safari• #169 Vision Beyond Eyesight with Deborah McAlexander• #172 Confessions of a Podcast Host• #179 Finding Healing Through Service and Leadership with David Jones• #208 Don't Let Fear Hold You Back with Robert A. ¡Benditos reglamentos!

AND RIO HARYANTO FORMER F1 DRIVER NEXT WEEK…WE HAVE ZACK BROWN before he joined McLaren and BOB BONNDURANT… Johnny Amadeus Cecotto, aka Johnny Cecotto Jr., was born in Augsburg, Germany, in 1989 and has lived in the Principality for a long time. He is a former racing driver, entrepreneur, aviator, and dad who is happily married to Cristina Boeri de Cecotto. They have two children, a son and a daughter, who are the light of their lives. His mother is Monaco resident jewellery designer Martina Wagner, and his father, Johnny Alberto Cecotto Persello, known as Johnny Cecotto, is a Venezuelan former professional Grand Prix motorcycle and auto racer. Johnny Cecotto Jr.'s racing career was filled with numerous highlights. He became the youngest driver to win an international Formula 3 race at just 16-years-old, a record that still stands today. He also won the Monaco Formula 2 Grand Prix in 2012, a race that is considered one of the most prestigious in the world. Johnny served as the third driver for Toro Rosso and Force India in Formula 1, a testament to his skill and talent. He also held the record for the most race starts in GP2 history, including several victories, pole positions, and podiums. Eventually, Johnny left racing to dedicate fully to his booming entrepreneurial career as the founder of Stars Monte-Carlo, a luxury car dealership in the Principality, where he continues his passion for wheels by selling luxurious and super-sport cars. With Stars Formula, a motorsport management company, Stars Capital, an investment firm, and Stars Real State, he has been expanding his portfolio in various fields since 2012, with no end in sight. This was after successfully building his IT company, which had clients like Vodafone and the Nolan Group. Rio Haryanto, born 22 January 1993 in Surakarta, Central Java, holds a unique place in motorsport history as Indonesia's first and only Formula One driver, and the first Muslim driver to start a Grand Prix. Though his F1 career was brief, just 12 Grands Prix in 2016, Haryanto's journey from Southeast Asian karting circuits to the global Formula One stage was anything but ordinary. Haryanto's career began in karting where he quickly made a name for himself, winning multiple regional championships. He moved to single-seaters in 2008 and took his first major international title in 2009, claiming the Formula BMW Pacific Championship with Meritus. He then climbed the European junior ladder, including spells in GP3 and GP2, developing under the Manor Motorsport umbrella, which would later form his link to F1. His early success in GP3 even earned him a test with Virgin Racing (later Marussia/Manor) at the 2010 Abu Dhabi young driver test. After years on the brink, Haryanto was confirmed as a full-time driver for Manor Racing in 2016, alongside Pascal Wehrlein, the reigning DTM champion and Mercedes protégé. It was a historic moment for Indonesia and a major milestone for Southeast Asian motorsport. Driving car number 88, Haryanto made his debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix, but an early incident with Romain Grosjean in practice earned him a grid penalty and set the tone for a challenging campaign. In the race, he retired on lap 18 with a drivetrain issue. Despite often finding himself at the back of the field, Haryanto showed flashes of racecraft and resilience. His best finish came in Monaco, where he brought the car home in 15th, albeit four laps down—but it was still classified! He also beat teammate Wehrlein in China and Spain, though Wehrlein would eventually grab Manor's only point of the season in Austria, highlighting the gulf in car performance and opportunity. While Haryanto had talent, his F1 seat was primarily backed by Indonesian government sponsorship—funds that, partway through the season, were frozen by Parliament due to procedural concerns. Without the financial backing to continue, Manor demoted him to reserve driver after the 2016 German Grand Prix, replacing him with Esteban Ocon. In a twist of fate, both of Haryanto's successors—Ocon and Wehrlein—would go on to race for established teams. Manor, however, collapsed at the end of the 2016 season, closing the chapter on Haryanto's F1 story.

Marketing feels chaotic because most businesses are chasing tactics without a system to support them. In this episode, John Jantsch and Sara Nay explain why a marketing operating system brings clarity, accountability, and predictable growth. Canadian Robert Wickens not only has the heart of a champion, he's won multiple championships from karting through the junior open-wheel series. In addition to his success on the open-wheel ladder, he also scored multiple wins and poles while competing in the highly competitive DTM championship from 2013-2017. In 2018, he made his mark known to everyone in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES by winning the pole for his very first race at the season opening St. Pete Grand Prix! Unfortunately, later that year he would suffer from a catastrophic crash at the Pocono oval where he broke his back, neck, legs and had numerous other injuries that left him a paraplegic. He returned to racing with Bryan Herta Autosport in 2022 scoring a podium finish with his co-driver in his first race using hand controls! In 2023 he won the Michelin Pilot Challenge championship in a Hyundai Elantra N. This guy is amazing, and in this interview at the 2025 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach media luncheon, he talks about his latest ride in the DXDT Corvette ZO6 GT3.R IMSA GTD car with new Bosch hand controls. In the second practice session of the weekend, he set the fastest lap! Listen in as he fills us in on the technology that's helping him return to top-level racing. Enjoy!
Briana Sidwell is a women's health and strength coach who helps women 30+ build real strength, confidence, and trust in their bodies — particularly as they navigate perimenopause, menopause, and the often-overlooked in-between years. Before entering the fitness industry, Briana spent years in corporate America, where she saw firsthand how chronic stress, long hours, and "pushing through" quietly erode health. She didn't grow up athletic and didn't begin structured strength training until her late 20s — a perspective that deeply informs her coaching and allows her to meet women where they actually are, not where the industry assumes they should be. While she spent 14 years involved in equestrian show jumping, it wasn't until later in life that Briana discovered the power of intentional, evidence-based strength training. That experience reshaped her understanding of what it truly means to be strong — not just active — and sparked her passion for helping women build resilience, capability, and longevity through thoughtful training and education. Briana is known for questioning outdated fitness narratives, leading with education over hype, and creating spaces — both physical and conversational — where women feel informed, empowered, and capable. She believes strength is more than muscle; it's autonomy, confidence, and the ability to move through life on your own terms. [27:20] In this episode Greg Gazin welcomes back longtime contributor and speech delivery coach Bill Brown for a conversation that reflects back and shares lessons learned from more than a decade of writing for the Toastmaster magazine. A Toastmaster for nearly 20 years Bill has become a familiar name to readers through The Toastmasters Toolbox, The Answer Man, and dozens of feature articles written since 2014. This episode coincides with Bill’s final Answer Man column and his reflective December 2025 article, “Lessons from the Toastmaster: Discover What I Have Learned as a Writer for the Magazine.” Bill describes how a simple hallway chat with former magazine editor Jennie Harris unexpectedly launched what would become a plethora of articles—including nine years of monthly columns.Greg revisits Bill’s earlier podcast appearances as well, including Episode #206, “Receiving Feedback: A Valuable Skill You Can Improve On,” (June 2022) where Bill explored the under-discussed art of accepting and applying feedback. That theme re-emerges here as Bill talks about how editorial guidance helped him adapt his writing for a global audience—learning to “think like a listener” and write more universally.Listeners will hear Bill discuss:How writing strengthened his speaking, helping him craft tighter messages with clearer cadence. Why rhythm and flow matter—including a brief, powerful recitation from Douglas MacArthur’s “Duty, Honor, Country.”Challenges in early Pathways navigation, and how one article unexpectedly helped rural clubs get their footing. His passion for speech delivery, especially vocal variety and cadence as core elements of listener engagement.Surprising moments of feedback, including responses from Toastmasters in remote or underserved areas. Why memorizing a speech frees you to deliver with authenticity and connection rather than anxiety. The episode also revisits one of Bill’s popular humor pieces, “Make Your Speeches Something to Laugh At”(December 2020), as he and Greg unpack the “alternate meaning” technique, pun-based humor, and how to recover when the wrong meaning lands unintentionally. As he transitions from column writing, Bill shares what’s ahead: new delivery-training programs, books in development, fresh articles, and continued contributions to Toastmasters International. As he says, Toastmasters HQ has already made it clear—“they’re not done with me yet.”To read his December 2025 article and enjoy his final Answer Man column, visit the Toastmaster magazine.Other articles mentioned: Memorize Your Speech to Avoid Interruptions, (Nov 2025) and Help! Fr. Nathan and prayer partners Kim Sharp and Phillip West discuss the spiritual practices arising from the story of Grandpa "A+". This story is new and being heard here for the first time, and it is not included in any of the "Afterlife, Interrupted" book series. Kimberly Sharp, LMFT, DTM, is a psychotherapist, loves helping people connect with the deepest part of themselves, which can promote joy, peace, and relief in their lives. Working from a mindbody-spirit perspective, she has witnessed how when we do our own inner work, it can lead to a deeply meaningful and fun life! Working as a prayer partner with Father Nathan, Kimberly has been amazed at the benevolence, kindness, and creativity the heavenly helpers on the “other side” use to support souls on their journey in the afterlife. Kimberly enjoys spending time with her husband and family, good friends, and volunteering with Toastmasters International and in her home parish of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in San Pedro, California.Phillip West received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana. In 2014, he retired early from aerospace to pursue a journey of spiritual discovery. After the passing of both parents, he was inspired to serve those approaching end-of-life. Although COVID delayed those plans, he returned to graduate school to study pastoral counseling, trained as an end-of-life doula, and volunteers at hospice. He also gives time to caregiver and bereavement support groups in his community. Click this link and let us know what you love about The Joyful Friar Podcast! Luke joined the Williams Racing Driver Academy in April 2023 following his stand-out 2022 season where he secured the GB3 Championship and won the 2022 Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award. Since joining the Academy he has continued this upward trajectory, winning the Macau Grand Prix in 2023, also taking pole position and the fastest lap, and finishing the 2024 FIA Formula 3 season in third with two race wins and a podium in Monaco. As part of the Williams Racing Driver Academy's proud tradition of giving young talent a path into F1, Luke has regularly driven in the Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) and simulator programmes with the aim of preparing him for the future. He has balanced this with a successful FIA Formula 2 campaign, currently occupying third position in the standings and going into the final two races of the season in a fierce battle for the title. Luke Browning: “It's going to be an unforgettable weekend in Abu Dhabi fighting for the Formula 2 title while getting back behind the wheel of the FW47, and it's a challenge I'm going to relish. The Young Driver Test will give me a final opportunity to help the team prepare for 2026 and I'm looking forward to being part of a Formula 1 weekend for the last time this season. Thank you to everyone at the Driver Academy and Williams for the trust once again.” Sven Smeets, Sporting Director, Atlassian Williams Racing: “Luke's development continues to impress us, and we are looking forward to closing the season with him behind the wheel of the FW47. We have an incredibly talented group of drivers in the Williams Racing Driver Academy, and it is important for us to give them the opportunity to progress as they move up the ladder. These final sessions of the season will give Luke another valuable chance to learn from Alex and Carlos, the wider team, and further embed with our trackside operation as he looks towards a bright future.” Mighty Sunbeam 1000 HP to Make Post-Restoration Debut at 75th Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance Harry Segrave beside the Sunbeam 1000 HP. (Photo: Courtesy of the National Motor. Museum) PEBBLE BEACH, CALIFORNIA (November 12, 2025) — The mighty Sunbeam 1000 HP, the first car to achieve a land speed record of 200 mph, has been asleep for over 90 years. But a team of restorers at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu, England, is now in the process of gently waking this giant—and if all goes as planned, the restored beast will make its US debut at the 2026 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance before attempting a centennial run at Daytona the following spring. “The process of restoring a one-off car like this takes real dedication,” noted Concours Chairman Sandra Button. “There is no pattern to be followed. It takes time and research, effort and expertise. We are thrilled to know that the National Motor Museum intends to send the restored car to Pebble Beach, to share with enthusiasts here.” The Sunbeam 1000 HP was built to compete in the race for speed. The 100 mph barrier was first broken in 1904, and then it took more than two decades to reach 150 mph—a record Malcolm Campbell achieved in July of 1925 at the wheel of a Sunbeam 350 HP. The Sunbeam 1000 HP, crafted around two of the marque's powerful 22.4-liter Matabele aero engines placed to the fore and aft of the vehicle, came into being less than two years later and proved to be revolutionary. Driving it on the smooth sands of Daytona Beach on March 29, 1927, Harry Segrave recorded a speed of 203.79 mph. “This car has been at Beaulieu since before I was born and feels like a member of the family, but one I never expected to run again,” said Ralph, Lord Montagu of Beaulieu. “Watching the restoration take place has been fascinating as it has revealed so much I never knew about the car. It will be quite a thrill to have the car at Pebble Beach and is a great opportunity for us to wave the flag for the National Motor Museum!” The car's restoration is now well underway. The rear engine has already been disassembled, re-machined, restored, and refitted into the frame—and it was first fired up before an adoring crowd at the Beaulieu International Autojumble in early September. The museum team is now focused on restoring the front engine. When that, too, is back together and in place, the bodywork, which has already been restored, will be reinstalled. “Over the last three and a half years, the Museum's team have worked tirelessly to make the mighty Sunbeam 1000 HP roar again, with help from a wide range of supporters, stakeholders and heritage engineering specialists,” said Jon Murden, Chief Executive of the National Motor Museum. “Having experienced the first of the car's remarkable engines running once more, we are all now thrilled at the prospect of the Sunbeam returning to the United States for the first time in a century.” John, the second Baron Montagu of Beaulieu, was a motoring pioneer, who campaigned for the rights of early motorists. In the 1950s, his son Edward founded what is now the National Motor Museum to honor him, and that museum shares a long history with the Pebble Beach Concours. Edward first showed a car—his 1913 Alfonso Hispano-Suiza—at Pebble Beach in 1981, and the following year, he donated the Montagu of Beaulieu Trophy, which the Concours presents annually to the best British car shown on its competition field. Ralph, the current Lord Montagu, was in attendance at the Concours this year.
