Jason Fraley interviews rap legend Rakim, who performs live at Bethesda Theater in Bethesda, Maryland this Friday, April 18. The groundbreaking emcee breaks down his internal rhyme schemes across a career of hip-hop hits, including “Paid in Full,” “I Ain't No Joke,” “I Know You Got Soul,” “Follow the Leader,” “Don't Sweat the Technique” and “Juice (Know the Ledge).” (Theme Music: Scott Buckley's "Clarion")
Morning, afternoon, evening whatever the case maybe, Donna here for you personally!I do not own the rights to this music, but it has been a long time since I took this Daily Faith Walk with you, yes, yes, a little Eric B. & Rakim with I Know You Got Soul.Well, the powers that be knows you have gifts, talents, and abilities. Episode 37: Whether You Stay or Go G.R.O.W! You got SOILThe Holy Spirit woke me up this morning, and whispered, “It is not where you are planted but where you G.R.O.W. The acronym used was, grow where God's Right Opportunities Work! Then He proceeded to bring the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30 to the 21st Century.QUESTION: Have you asked yourself, why haven't I met any goals or dreams yet in this place or thing?Let us say Warren Buffett picked three people out of a thousand, and you were one. Then he gave five (5) talents to one person, two to another and one to you. Notice here the Boss man gave the same tools and resources just in different measures, and later we see he gave the same rewards. So, off the workers go the person with five (5) talents said, I heard Atlanta was a good place to invest my five talents, but I have no connections. Alright, I must use my gifts, talents, and abilities right where I am. And with taking a calculated risk it paid off giving the person with five (5) talents ten (10). Now the one with two talents, thought the same way, I have no connections here, so I will relocate to Atlanta and take a calculated risk and network with some folks before making the move, and that person gain two more talents.Last but not least, the third person did not take a calculated risk, instead stayed in a “comfort zone” or should I say “self-doubt” stage. Assuming that the boss was a shady businessperson, made excuses for his fears, and doubts, such as It is the environment, covid-19 got me depressed, I am a person of color, on and on. QUOTE: There is a few quotes that addresses the issue:William Shakespeare said, “Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we often might WIN, by fearing to attempt.” Sounds like failure to launch or leap. 2. Sylvia Plath says, “The worst enemy to creativity is “self-doubt”. We keep that enemy too close sometimes. 3- Last, but certainly not least one of my late and great mentors Dr. Myles Munroe say in one of his messages, titled The Key to Living Your Future, that, “The greatest threat to your future is your past. "The takeaway here is to make “calculated risks,” never allow fear to keep you from trying, and know that your boss made the risk assessment, by choosing the three people and the return on his investment. Note to self: DO NOT live a revision of the VISION God gave you! PS: If you have not done so already, please leave a review on Apple iTunes, Amazon Music, Spotify, Stitches or by visiting my Facebook Group page (Daily Faith Walk).

Lonely Jones — Post Animal We’re big fans of Chicago’s Post Animal, who opened for The Orwells during a weekend of local shows, features actor Joe Keery of Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” and creates cool blends of pop and psych-tinged indie rock. Am I Wrong — Anderson Paak (feat. ScHoolboy Q) Our Chief Creative Officer Matt Reinhard is a huge fan of Anderson Paak — we think you will be too if you haven’t heard him yet! New Song — Warpaint The ladies of Warpaint are back with an aptly titled “New Song,” and we’re pretty psyched to hear the rest of the new album. Watcha Workin It Fa — New Breed Brass Band (feat. 5th Ward Weebie) Matt caught this great jazz-funk band playing on the street in New Orleans (where he also took this month’s playlist cover photo) and we can’t get enough. Gimme Some Truth — John Lennon One of John Lennon’s slightly lesser-known political songs that still sounds all too familiar this election cycle. I Know You Got Soul — Eric B. & Rakim We’re throwing it back to the late 80s with this early hip-hop classic from Eric B. & Rakim. Ladies Don’t Play Guitar — Tennis We’re excited to see indie pop-rock duo Tennis continuing to evolve their unique sound with new music. La belle et le bad boy — Mc Solaar It wouldn’t be Whiskey & Bananas without a cool song that’s entirely en français. Annie — Neon Indian Denton, Texas-originating Neon Indian’s catchy, danceable electronic indie pop is hard to get out of your head — but why would you want to? The Less I Know The Better — Tame Impala Tame Impala’s excellent album “Currents” came out last summer, but we’re still jamming hard.
