The Advisory Board | Expert Franchising Advice for Franchise Leaders
Episode summaryThis week on The Franchise Advisory Board Podcast, Dave Hansen sits down with Dr. Alan Lasky, SVP at Reliable Background Screening (and former almost-songwriter-for-the-Jacksons… casually) to tackle a topic that's getting way more complicated: how to reduce hiring risk in the age of AI, deepfakes, and “resume inflation.”Big thanks to ClientTether, our episode sponsor, for helping franchise brands automate and standardize the processes that keep operators consistent, compliant, and sane.Episode highlightsAI in hiring: embrace it… but don't outsource your judgmentAlan's clear: this isn't an anti-AI episode. AI belongs in modern hiring—but it has to be used responsibly. The core risk? Bias and compliance exposure can sneak in when AI tools are unmonitored, unmeasured, or used without clear guardrails.Key safeguards discussed:Keep a human review in the loop before AI outputs influence decisionsBe transparent with candidates that AI is being used (even “AI note-takers”)Build internal policies and training so interviewers know what to watch forThe new threat: deepfakes and fake candidatesThe numbers are trending in a scary direction:Gartner projection: by 2028, 1 in 4 job applicants could be fakeReports cited from SHRM/Forbes: 70% of candidates misrepresent themselves, with “resume inflation” accelerating via AI toolsReliable (and the broader screening industry) is responding with identity verification approaches that combine:ID upload + guided selfie video (blink/turn prompts)biometric matching to confirm the candidate is real and consistentbehind-the-scenes handling designed to stay sensitive to EEOC/ADA concernsHiring best practices that actually hold upA few practical “do-this-now” moves that came up repeatedly:Compare resume vs LinkedIn vs interview story for consistencyUse skills assessments, ideally proctored or monitored when remoteSet explicit candidate guidelines for AI use (what's allowed vs not)Train interviewers to spot red flags like inconsistencies, delays, and mismatchUse social media checks carefully—ideally filtered through a screening partner to avoid pulling in protected-class infoCompliance is getting messier: states and citiesAI regulations are already active in places like Colorado, California, Illinois, New Jersey, and New York City, and Alan notes 20+ bills are moving through the pipeline. The theme across these rules:don't discriminatedocument your policykeep a human elementdisclose AI usageOn top of that, municipal laws are adding another layer (example discussed: shifting lookback windows in certain cities), making “multi-state + multi-unit + remote hiring” a true complexity party.Adverse action: the “right to dispute” mattersWhen a background check surfaces something negative, employers need to follow adverse action practices and give candidates the chance to dispute inaccuracies—because false positives happen (aliases, shared names, court data errors, etc.). Some states are now requiring more specific disclosure about why a decision was made and how it relates to the job.Franchisors, franchisees, and joint employer riskFor brands wanting to share hiring best practices systemwide: yes, you can educate—but do it smart.Keep it informationalAdd “consult legal counsel” languageBe careful not to cross lines that create joint-employer exposureThe vibe-check takeawayAI is speeding up hiring—but it's also speeding up fraud, mistakes, and legal risk. The winning play isn't “avoid AI.” It's standardize the process, document your policy, verify identity, and keep humans accountable for final decisions.
Send a textWith this final podcast on intentional dating as opposed to recreational dating, Hannah and her mom Carlotta Jackson answer “frequently asked questions” that have stood out. What happened to the “purity culture” of the 1990s? What if the parents don't want to be engaged? What if the parents are not believers? Is anyone ever really prepared for marriage? Doesn't solely looking for a sincere Christian solve the issue? Is finding a mate that simple? Is there just one person who matches us so completely in God's plan for whom we must search the world over? Join them as they discuss these questions from the viewpoint of an older mom who has six married children and a millennial who experienced intentional dating not so long ago. Greetings Glocal Citizens! I met this week's guest, Nana Asomani-Poku in Jamestown, Accra during a walking tour through featuring stories told in images by Glocal Citizen, James Barnor. It was during the James Barnor @95 celebration in 2024. Nana, a UK-born Ghanaian legal professional, filmmaker, and community engagement specialist based in Australia was back in Ghana for a family celebration of his own. As we chatted along the route, he mentioned his work centering social impact in Australia and my curiosity was peaked. What you'll learn in this conversation spans how he began his career as a legal advocate for asylum seekers and refugees with the UK's largest not-for-profit immigration law firm to community and stakeholder engagement, building bridges between public sector organisations and marginalised communities in Australia. Alongside his human rights work, he pursued his passion for filmmaking, training at the New York Film Academy and going on to make his first feature film, Drawn. Let's travel with Nana, to get to know more about his land down under and other stops across the globe. Where to find Nana? On IMDB On Instagram What's Nana listening to? Send a textAfter observing the perils of the current dating culture, including the premature sexualization of children and sexual involvement of young people and the push toward cohabitation and “trying it out,” Hannah Miller's parents, Robert and Carlotta Jackson, delineated some general principles in their search for a way to help their children find a mate. Of course, the choice is left up to the couple when all is said and done, but parents, family, advisors and/or accountability partners, can help along the way with objectively examining the life of the other interested young lady or young man, especially if the person is unknown to the family. By embracing the process, Hannah's sister Rebecca and her husband Josh Shrom describe on this podcast how it looked for them as well as the joy and fun on the journey. Dog trainer Jackson Cullinan owns The Educated Canine and trains and walks dogs in Massachusetts USA. Recently, Jackson took on a behavior case and filmed some of his training. After posting his training, the training video was widely criticised. We talked about how he handled the situation and what the end results were for the dog he was training. We also discuss Jacksons 3 dogs and how he works with them daily. Our discussion touches on different dog sports and the abilities our dogs have to learn when in drive. Thank you Jackson for sitting with me and speaking so candidly. @the.educated.canine FitPet Boston Talks is a production of FitPet Boston LLC

Send us a textOnce again, Dr. and Mrs. Jackson along with the Millers discuss the dating journey in their family, including their final principle, which reminds the audience that they are certainly not into arranged marriages. Afterwards the discussion moves on to a segment called “Profit from our Mistakes.” The dating scene in America is fraught with treacherous waters and sin abounds. It's easy to make mistakes, and they are difficult to admit, but the Jacksons hope their transparency will help others to avoid some of the pits they fell in. Send us a textAs temporary hosts of Hannah Miller's podcast, her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Jackson, direct a third conversation with Hannah and her husband on how parents and family can help guide a young person in the process of finding a mate. They introduced two general principles and touched on another principle in the last two podcasts; this time they talk more about the practical outworking of the third principle, guarding one's heart. They admit this is not easy, but it does help to have other people, hopefully the parents and family and any other counselors, asking questions, getting to know the interested person, and holding the young people involved accountable. Is it even biblical to call a person to guard his or her heart? Support the showhttps://www.thehannahmillershow.com/podcasts/https://bobslone.com/contact/bob@bobslone.com

Send us a textMembers of the Jackson family discuss their ever-evolving, fluid thoughts on the dating culture of the United States. As the parents, Dr. and Mrs. Jackson, looked around and saw how a secular world approached finding a mate, as they remembered their own stories, and as they began to experience situations with their own children's relationships. They embarked on a journey of establishing a more biblical approach to helping their children navigate the dating scene and finding a mate. In this first session they describe their perspective of and concerns for the American recreational dating scene, and the reasons why they recognize certain important principles for the dating/courting journey, and the caveats of their process. The Men of Micheaux bid a fond farewell to reggae legend Jimmy Cliff (1944-2025) and question his and others' place in music history, which steers into the legacy of the Jacksons, and a requiem of sorts for Randy Jackson. Hello Groovers, This week's Liquid Sunshine was a marathon session of extended funk workouts, with vinyl grooves stretched to their absolute limits including an epic 18-minute journey through The Jacksons' "Hum Along and Dance" that proved why some songs deserve all the space they can get. The focus on Part I and Part II tracks showcased funk's golden age philosophy that great grooves shouldn't be constrained by radio time limits, with obscure gems sitting alongside better-known classics in a seamless flow of pure rhythmic power. This was vinyl purism at its finest—long-form funk that demanded attention, rewarded patience, and reminded listeners that before streaming's instant gratification, music was meant to be experienced as a journey rather than consumed as content. Anita Harwood needs our help finding a man named Marty who helped her on that fateful day of September 11th, 2001. This is one woman's good journey, traveling from the UK to the United States to attend a Michael Jackson concert, only to find herself in the middle of New York City on the morning when everything changed. It's also the story of kindness, specifically the kindness of one stranger who said yes when 18 year old Anita and her best friend needed it most. We found this story on Upworthy's Instagram page and reached out to Anita to see if she might want to come on World Gone Good, tell her story, and see if you, our good audience, might be able to help out in finding the missing Marty. If 9/11 taught us anything, it is this: good or bad, we are all in this together. Give a listen to Anita to see if you might be the person who helps her locate this stranger to give him the hug and thank you she's been waiting over 24 years to give him. _____________________________ Steve is busy at work on the third book in his cozy mystery series, THE DOG WALKING DETECTIVES. It's another packed and mixed bag of questions here on Meaningful Money. Today we deal with Seafarer's pension contributions, tax-free cash on DB pension schemes and annual allowance calculations. Plus we give some thought to the evolution of the show… Shownotes: https://meaningfulmoney.tv/QA25 01:10 Question 1 Hi Pete and Roger Many thanks for all that you do. I am a long time podcast listener and happy client of Jacksons. I am currently playing catch up on the current series and have a couple of thoughts on points raised in two episodes. In episode 3 - there was a question on pensions and the answer included the point that when making contributions to a scheme they are generally paid net and the scheme reclaims basic rate tax from HMRC. Just to say that this is not always the case. My employer recently moved its scheme to an Aviva master trust. I wanted to make a lump sum co tribute. Ahead of the tax year end. However I found that the scheme could only accept gross contributions and I would have to reclaim the tax myself. As it was quite a decent sum and I preferred not to wait for the tax I made the contribution into a different scheme. In episode 7 you had a question about moving abroad. The point we made that you can't continue to contribute to UK tax favoured schemes when abroad which is correct. However there is another watch out in that ISAs in particular may be subject to income tax in the new country of residence - as they were when j lived in the US. It is therefore critical to get advice so you can make the right choices when moving abroad All the best, Richard 05:06 Question 2 I have been listening to your podcast for the last 5 or 6 months. Like so many of your listeners, I have spent many hours catching up on your early episodes, no longer do I watch movies or drama series or wildlife programmes. I listen to Pete. Your advice has been priceless. However, I do have a question that I seemingly cannot find the answer to. Perhaps, I already know the answer, but am putting my head in the sand because I do not like it. I know that the pension tax free lump sum is limited to £268,275 and I believe that this applies to the total taken from multiple pensions. I retired from the police in 2013 as a chief inspector. I took the maximum lump sum available at the time which was £206,000. I started a new job with the NHS and am paying into the NHS 2015 scheme. My projection on retirement from the NHS at age 67 suggests that I can expect a lump sum that combined with my police pension lump sum will take me well beyond £268,275. I have seen some articles on line about lump sum protected allowances, but do not know if this is something I can access. Clearly, if all I can take from my NHS pension is £62,275 I will be paying 40% on a greater proportion of my pension in payment. I suspect there may be others like me that maxed our their lump sum when first retiring and have gone on to further employment and have built up a tidy pension that has the potential to pay out another handsome lump sum. Your advice is gratefully appreciated. Kind regards, John 11:25 Question 3 Hi Pete and Rog Always a delight when a new episode comes out – I hope Rog is getting fairly compensated for his efforts! I have been a keen listener for a number of years though until recently had lived outside of the UK, so while not everything was applicable (ISAs or pension contribution limits etc), the podcast has always been a valuable tool as I improve my personal finances I have a question I was hoping you could clarify for me which relates to questions you answered on previous podcast Q&A. Trying to keep it short but failing: On a couple of occasions when talking about pensions there seems to be an assumption that your income will fall in retirement and so income tax on the way out of the pension is less relevant. You recently had a question around moving money from a Lifetime ISA to a SIPP for a higher rate tax payer who was moving abroad and the calculation / discussion went something like: Invested 4k, got the extra 1k but have to take a 25% penalty when taking the money out so down to 3.75k. Then when investing that back into a SIPP you get tax relief so back up to 4.7k or even 6.25 with higher rate relief. Then the discussion seemed to suggest in such a case you might even be better off than if you had left it in the LISA. However, doesn't this depend on what your tax rate is on retirement / withdrawal? Now on to my question: Similarly, you had someone who had maxed out their annual pension contribution limit and they were trying to decide whether to pay more in to their pension (foregoing the tax relief) or to put it in to a GIA. This is a situation I find myself in and the Q&A discussion seemed to suggest it doesn't make much difference. There were comments that an ISA would be better than a GIA but assuming the ISA allowance was already fully used then there was little difference. This confused me and brings me to my question. If I overpay into a pension and so get no tax relief, don't I still pay income tax when I withdraw the money from the pension? So for any contribution above the annual limit I receive no tax relief initially (ie I have effectively paid tax) but then future withdraws from a pension are taxable so I pay tax again when I retire. Is this the case or is there some way the pension knows what proportion of the pot received tax relief and what proportion didn't? If no such split exists then surely a GIA is a far better option where I will only pay CGT on any growth in the investment (or income tax on dividends). Imagine a situation where there is no growth or dividends then in a GIA I take the initial money back out with no tax to pay, in the pension I still pay income tax on the withdrawal. What am I missing here? Kind regards, Matt 17:02 Question 4 Hi - love the podcast and really enjoying the Q&A series! Keep up the great work! I was hoping you can assist me. I have a pretty simple salary structure and lucky to earn annually (salary and bonus) around 190k. I'm looking at what I can add to my pension and very aware of the 60k limit and also the 200k income threshold. Is it as a simple as if my only income stream is from employment, that by definition in the above scenario I'm below the £200k. Or am I missing anything else that feeds into this as a consideration? Thanks, Steve 20:20 Question 5 Thank you Pete & Roger for an amazingly insightful informative podcast. This has given me a giant springboard to the next level of financial literacy. My question is: I am a seafarer and all of my income from it is subject to seafarers earnings deductions (SED). My annual salary is £79,000. How much can I pay into a SIPP claiming the full amount of tax relief given that all of my income is subjected to SED? Thanks very much for everything you do. Kind regards, Benjamin 24:00 Question 6 Absolutely love the podcast - always look forward to driving home on a Wednesday so I can listen to it. I'm 47 and my husband is 55 and we have 2 fabulous children aged 13 & 11. I am an additional rate taxpayer and have a good DB pension for the future (NHS consultant). My husband did the tougher job of being a full time Dad so only has a small SIPP at present worth about £50,000 which we add £2880 to each year. I am hoping to retire early so we are building our Stocks & Shares ISAs each year to bridge the gaps between my retirement and state pension etc although we don't use the full allowance at present although may do in the future as my pay increases. We just wanted advice about the best way to extract the money from my husbands SIPP. He works a few hours now making approximately £5000 per year so is a non-taxpayer (and all our emergency cash is in his name!). We had planned to start drawing down his pension in a few years once fully retired to try to get it all tax free before his state pension kicks in but we don't actually need the cash and thus it would be reinvested into his ISA. Is there any reason not just to start that process now so we put the money in the ISA gradually over the next few years (bearing in mind that we may be able to fill our ISAs in the future)? Can we still top up with £2880 each year one this process has started? Maybe this sounds like an obvious thing to do but just can't work out if its the correct path? Thanks so much, Ciara Mulligan 30:10 Podcast and Video plans.
Episode 506: Shamone Now This week Host Dave Bledsoe won third prize in a “Moonwalking” competition when he lost his balance trying to get up to take a piss and stumbled backward across the stage. (It was a $10 Gift Certificate to Hardees) On the show this week it is part one of a two part show about the biggest pop star of the 80s, Michael Bolton. (We kid, we are talking about Michael Jackson!) Along the way we find out that Dave once thought he was gay because he accidentally liked Michael Jackson's music. (He had a very sheltered childhood) Then we dive into a brief history of Motown for script reasons before, and speaking of sheltered childhoods, we meet the Jacksons. (All dozen of them) We follow the rise of young Michael from his childhood parental abuse to the pinnacle of cultural dominance before the age of 30 years old. (Can't imagine why Mike turned out the way he did). We talk about this music, the videos, the cultural impact and the world fell in love with him. We do NOT talk about the weird stuff. (We're saving that for NEXT week!) Our Sponsor this week is Sequin Hut, all we sell is sequins, which was a pretty bad business choice. We open the show with the news about Thriller and close with Gipsy Danger inquiring about Annie. We all experience spiritual hunger or malnourishment at various points in our faith journey. On the Gospel Spice podcast, guest Lynn Jackson shares her story and offers practical wisdom on rekindling spiritual health through her book, The Recipe. Stephanie and Lynn explore how to find strength and closeness with God even in life's hardest seasons—no matter how spiritually “hungry” or exhausted you might feel. If you feel spiritually weary, you are not alone—and it is not your fault. Start where you are. Open the “pantry” of God's Bible and take a nibble. God's Word isn't reserved for the strong, but is nourishment for the hungry and the weak. With humility, honesty, and consistency, spiritual health is rebuilt one small bite at a time. And, as Lynn encourages, pass the “recipe” along: encourage others, share the method, and help one another discover God's daily provision. BUY “THE RECIPE” HERE: https://www.amazon.com/Recipe-simple-workbook-spiritual-weary/dp/B0F7NCYG63 Here's what Lynn and Stephanie discuss: 1. Understanding Spiritual Malnutrition Lynn Jackson begins by sharing her own background—growing up disconnected from God, despite church attendance, and later experiencing spiritual exhaustion as a pastor's wife. Her journey highlights that spiritual dryness isn't unique to new believers; it affects mature Christians, too. The problem isn't always a lack of desire, but feeling so weary, discouraged, or busy that opening the Bible itself feels impossible. Lynn discovered that many people in church are “starving” spiritually, even after years of faith. We need nourishment, but don't know where to begin. 2. God's Word as a Pantry—Verses as Spiritual Food Lynn describes the Bible as “God's pantry,” full of nourishing verses—like shelves brimming with food and spices. Just as our bodies need regular meals, our souls need consistent spiritual “food.” Yet, many of us avoid the pantry, believing it's inaccessible, overwhelming, or only for those with abundant time and energy. 3. The Importance of Taking “Spiritual Nibbles” A common misconception is that “good Christians” must spend hours in Bible study for it to count. Lynn challenges this, likening such expectations to serving someone a Thanksgiving feast when they need a simple piece of toast. If you're malnourished or spiritually weak, feasting isn't possible—you start with a nibble. The Recipe provides a gentle method to reconnect with Scripture, even when motivation and strength are low. Sometimes, reading and meditating on a single verse is enough. One “taste” of God's Word can reawaken spiritual appetite and begin to strengthen your soul. 4. Permission to Be Messy Many avoid engaging with God because of perfectionism—thinking spiritual practices must be beautiful, well-organized, or profound. Lynn encourages the opposite: make a mess! She tells stories of scribbled journals and a “messy kitchen” as metaphors for the normal, chaotic process of spiritual growth. The goal is connection, not perfection. 5. The Practical Steps of The Recipe The book provides a four-week, hands-on guide. Rather than lectures, Lynn offers companionship—like inviting the reader into her kitchen to watch, then join, and finally lead in “preparing spiritual food.” The process is adaptable: maybe today you need a full meal, but other days, just a single “protein bite” (verse) to carry you through. PURCHASE “THE RECIPE” BY LYNN JACKSON Stephanie could not be clearer: she strongly, strongly invites you to purchase a copy of “the Recipe” for yourself, and maybe a few more to give away as gifts to friends and family! You will not regret it. https://www.amazon.com/Recipe-simple-workbook-spiritual-weary/dp/B0F7NCYG63 MORE ABOUT LYNN JACKSON https://journeylynn.com/about/ https://thrivelead.org/about/ Scott Jackson is the CEO & Co-Founder of Thrive Leadership Foundation. Details and registration here: https://www.gospelspice.com/prayer There are a few things in our Christian life that we know we should do more, or at least better – and prayer just might top the list. Prayer is a mystery. Why would a conversation with a human have any influence on God's eternal, sovereign plan? It defies logic, and beckons love. How can God, the Almighty Lord of Hosts, be this close, this personal? It defies understanding, and beckons involvement. But, lack of time, inspiration, and discipline, combined with the ruthless tyranny of our busy lives, push prayer to the periphery, to the “one day I'll get to it” pile. And yet, we can excel at what we endeavor to undertake. So, why isn't prayer more of a spiritual priority? Could we develop a mindset around prayer that made it attractive, inspiring, even maybe delightful? What if we attuned our spiritual ears to listen to God, and our spiritual eyes to see His provision? As an unassuming student, I'm going to humbly offer to share the little I have learned from others about the joy of prayer. I will give us theology, practical tips, and useful resources, sharing what works for me as we, together, learn to pray. If you find prayer intimidating, or if your lack of prayer makes you feel guilty or “less than,” then this is the place for you! If you have been a student of prayer for many years, this is the place for you too! If you have breath in your lungs, then prayer can become one of the deepest joys of your day. Don't miss out! A PERSPECTIVE ABOUT PRAYER To pray is to believe that God not only hears, but that He responds. It is to stand in the gap for a broken world, wielding the authority of Christ, empowered by the Spirit, and trusting in the goodness of the Father. The question is not whether prayer works, but whether we are willing to pray the kinds of prayers that invite God's Kingdom into the darkest places of the earth—and of our own hearts. We may never fully understand the mechanics of prayer, or how it intersects with God's sovereignty, but we are not called to understand everything. We are called to be faithful. And faithfulness means showing up—in prayer, in persistence, in expectation. So today, let us pray not only for the comfort of our hearts, but for the transformation of the world. Let us take our place as image-bearers, co-laborers, and co-heirs. Let us believe that God is still listening—and still acting. Because He is. There's only one way to find out what might happen when we truly pray like this. Let's begin. THE MINDSET BEHIND THIS COURSE Before we begin, let me tell you the obvious: I don't really know how to pray. I'm a humble student and absolute beginner at the holy endeavor that is prayer. So, this course isn't really about what I've learned, or any wisdom I might have gathered. But, I've sat at the feet of many prayer warriors over the decades, through books and teachings. So, I'll share what I learned from them. Humility is going to be our primary heart posture! With each lesson, I will offer a few thoughts, practices, and ideas – with much humility, and not taking myself too seriously. I will also share her favorite books and resources about prayer. FInally, I will introduce you to some of the most influential prayer warriors of our history as the Body of Christ. Most importantly, I will invite YOU to pray! Learning to pray comes from praying. Our humble ambition is to inspire you to pray, and to give you a few tips on how to do that. Then, it's up to you! Prayer is a lifelong endeavor. Let's make it delightful together! So, let's get started. Support us on Gospel Spice, PayPal and Venmo!
What a weekend for baseball. Patti witnesses small children in the stands absolutely take down a full grown booing adult for his poor sportsmanship, and then fireworks. Pottymouth gets a winning double header, dubious mascots, an imaginary friend, and then fireworks. Oh and also there was that trade deadline. The Os lose 100% of their Ramons and Cedrics, but their 21% of the Jacksons in the league turn a relay to throw out the runner at home. There's a whole Taylor/Tyler trade and beer fridge situation, and some pitchers commute to their new team by walking from one bullpen to another. There was a Clemens on the mound, and a Kyle taking down Yankees with big swings. Walt Disney was so impressed with his knowledge and skill, that he invited Bob Gurr to join WED Enterprises to design the very first Autopia cars that debuted at Disneyland in 1955. Over the past 74 years, Bob has made transportation magic worldwide, developing such legendary Disneyland ride vehicles as the Monorail, the Flying Saucers, the Haunted Mansion “Doom Buggies," the Submarine Voyage sub fleet, the PeopleMover, and the Matterhorn Bobsleds. After “retiring” in 1981, Bob went on to co-found Sequoia Creative and design the massive King Kong animatronic for Universal Studios Hollywood. He designed the flying spaceship for the 1984 Olympics opening ceremonies, effects for The Jacksons' Victory tour, and dinosaurs for Steven Spielberg's “Jurassic Park.” Plan now to join us as Bob climbs aboard a vehicle with no wheels for a journey across ten decades on one of the most incredible time travel adventures we've ever had!
Send us a textEve's simple declaration after giving birth to Cain—"I have gotten a man-child with the help of the Lord"—reveals a profound theological truth that modern society has largely forgotten: God alone opens and closes the womb. In this thought-provoking episode, Dr. Robert Jackson and his wife Carlotta trace this understanding through Scripture, examining how women like Sarah, Rachel, Leah, and Hannah all discovered this reality through their own struggles with fertility.Against this biblical backdrop, the Jacksons examine our current global fertility crisis. With birth rates plummeting worldwide—Vietnam abandoning its two-child policy, the United States hovering at just 1.62 children per woman, and aging populations threatening economic stability across developed nations—we're witnessing the consequences of viewing children as burdens rather than blessings. What's driving this decline? The Jacksons identify three cultural forces: widespread birth control, women prioritizing careers over motherhood, and rampant materialism that calculates children primarily as financial liabilities. These forces directly contradict Scripture's consistent portrayal of children as divine gifts (Psalm 127:3-5).The conversation takes a personal turn when Carlotta, herself highly educated with numerous professional opportunities, shares why she chose to be a stay-at-home mother of nine children. Her counter-cultural decision wasn't always easy, but it was grounded in faith rather than fear—a perspective she passionately encourages younger women to embrace. This episode challenges listeners to reconsider whether our attitudes toward family planning reflect biblical wisdom or merely cultural conditioning. When Pope Francis observes that "birth rates reveal how much happiness is present in society," he highlights what might be the most overlooked truth in our discussions about fertility: our willingness to welcome children reveals much about our faith, values, and ultimate source of security.Support the showhttps://www.jacksonfamilyministry.comhttps://bobslone.com/home/podcast-production/
