Jesse Starcher, Robert Cooper, Mik Wanamaker and Mark Radulich present their Body Count Merciless 2024 Album Review as part of the MHOD Jukebox!Body Count is an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1990. The group is fronted by Ice-T, who first established himself as a rapper but co-founded the group with lead guitarist Ernie C out of their interest in heavy metal music. Ice-T took on the role of vocalist and writing the lyrics for most of Body Count's songs, while Ernie C has been responsible for writing the group's music.Body Count's self-titled debut album was released on Sire Records in 1992, and garnered much attention due to a controversy around the song "Cop Killer". Their label, Sire Records, and their parent company, Warner Bros. Records, defended the song; however Ice-T chose to remove it from the album because he felt that the controversy had eclipsed the music itself. The group left Sire the following year, and they have since released seven more albums.Three out of the band's original seven members are deceased: D-Roc died from lymphoma, Beatmaster V from leukemia, and Mooseman in a drive-by shooting. Body Count's current lineup includes vocalist Ice-T, guitarists Ernie C and Juan Garcia, bassist Vincent Price, drummer Will "Ill Will" Dorsey Jr., and backing vocalists Sean E Sean and Little Ice (Ice-T's son). The band received its second Grammy nomination and later won the award at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2021 for Best Metal Performance with their song "Bum Rush" from the album Carnivore.Merciless is the eighth studio album by American heavy metal band Body Count. It was released on November 22, 2024, via Century Media Records. Production was handled by Ice-T, Vincent Price and Will Putney. It features guest appearances from Corpsegrinder, Howard Jones, Joe Bad, and Max Cavalera.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

1987 was a watershed year for Hip Hop.  It saw the debut albums from Ice-T, NWA & the Posse, Boogie Down Productions and Eric B & Rakim.  All are certifiable classics but it was Public Enemy's debut that was sonically the most adventurous.  The beeps and wails of the Bomb Squads production coupled with Chuck D's booming baritone and Flavor Flav's enticing prompts was unlike anything that had come before (or anything since).  The militant stance projected in the Black Panther inspired cover photo wasn't wholly present in Chuck's lyrics yet (that would come fully formed on their sophomore LP a year later) but all the pieces were in place to make PE one of the most important acts in the genres history.     RIP Cormac McCarthy RIP Chris Hassett  RIP Bob Nalbandian   Recommended Listening:   EP17:  “It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back” https://huntsmanhill.com/2017/03/20/ep17-public-enemy-it-takes-a-nation-of-millions-to-hold-us-back/   EP224:  Living Colour “Vivid” https://huntsmanhill.com/2023/05/28/ep224-living-colour-vivid/   The Punk Rock Museum https://www.thepunkrockmuseum.com   fIREHOSE “Sophisticated Bitch”  https://open.spotify.com/track/3GWvQf6EaAYoNuZ9owMeBa?si=4a1677aff7fa4316   Contact us at:  huntsmanhillpodcast@gmail.com Spotify Playlist:  https://open.spotify.com/user/1298220429/playlist/4gy1wWwypkoFS2lUztvZ44?si=waSq07DBQlq3x9G1_nK0pg   HHPP Amazon Affiliates Store https://huntsmanhill.com/2022/06/09/hhpp-store/   Our Music manhuntsman:  https://open.spotify.com/artist/7tFBWn0UFkdOEMf67TRD6W?si=vzllkbDwSEmfZFlj02GLRwAcademy O.C:  https://academyoc.bandcamp.com/album/academy-o-c   Omertà 68:  https://open.spotify.com/artist/6dfiCa0qTlbPQUrqtIkStS?si=6SCjNtXbSO2xRBDuBKJelQ   huntsmanhill.com instagram.com/huntsmanhill https://twitter.com/HuntsmanHill

As usual, Jaymee leads a heartfelt discussion while Daren hurls grenades of hilarity that explode frequently throughout the episode, which felt like an instant classic from the start. Jaymee tells the story of how he spent the 7th anniversary of his spiritual teacher Vic's passing by leaving a crystal at legendary music producer Rick Rubin's recording studio Shangri-La in Malibu.  Subjects covered: should the United Nations have a fart button to lighten up the mood? Should we all become homeless on skid row to find surrender? Plus Daren becomes a Karen when he defends the right to use the word "homeless", and Jaymee does an impression of Bill Clinton saying the word "compartmentalization". *Help support the show at: www.patreon.com/mysticalcynical *Leave us a 2 minute voicemail at: 888-4A-CYNIC / (888) 422-9642*Opening music by J. What is the power of writing to carry a voice, or many voices, particularly defiant ones? In this final episode, we return to the impetus for this series, the exhibition Stories of Resistance, as an invitation to consider the medium of words and storytelling. Artist Banu Cennetoğlu and poet Treasure Shields Redmond discuss their work attending to the writings of American Civil Rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer and Kurdish freedom fighter Gurbetelli Ersöz, respectively. They acknowledge the responsibility of caring for the words of activists, especially those who gave their lives to struggle for what's right.Banu Cennetoğlu is a cross-disciplinary artist whose practice incorporates methods of collecting and archiving and enquires into the politics of the production, classification, and distribution of knowledge. Her work Gurbet's Diary (27.07.1995–08.10.1997) inscribed words from Gurbetelli Ersöz's diary—which Ersöz kept while she was a Kurdish freedom fighter before she was killed—onto 145 press-ready lithographic limestone slabs. Cennetoğlu lives and works in Istanbul, where she founded BAS, an artist-run space dedicated to artists' books and printed matter.Dr. Treasure Shields Redmond is a St. Louis metro-based poet, performer, and educator. She has been featured at the Nuyorican Poets Café, and published poetry in such notable anthologies as Bum Rush the Page: A Def Poetry Jam, Breaking Ground: A Reader Celebrating Cane Canem's First Decade, and in journals that include Obsidian and The African American Review. A Cave Canem fellow, Treasure has received an MFA from the University of Memphis, and a PhD from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.-As a major component of the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis's exhibition Stories of Resistance, Radio Resistance assembles the voices of intersecting local and global agents of change. Artists featured in the exhibition are paired with figures from the past, present, and future of St. Louis, coming together to transmit messages of dissent. Eleven episodes will be released over the course of the exhibition, amplifying shared struggles, collective dreams, and models of individual and group action. Using a historically rebellious medium, Radio Resistance broadcasts social narratives of defiance and hope.Selections of Radio Resistance will be broadcast on St. Louis on the Air, the noontime talk program hosted by Sarah Fenske on St. Louis Public Radio. Full episodes will be released biweekly in a listening station at CAM, and on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Stitcher. A publication celebrating Stories of Resistance, featuring episode highlights, will be released later this year.

Join hosts Chibbi and Raqui as we welcome Bonafide Rojas to the Words and Sh*t stage! Streaming Live on The Blah Poetry Spot's page, tune in to get to know the person behind the poetry! Poet and musician Bonafide Rojas was born and raised in the Bronx. He is the author of four collections of poetry: Pelo Bueno: A Day in the Life of a Nuyorican Poet (Dark Souls Press, 2004), When the City Sleeps (Grand Concourse Press, 2012), Renovatio (Grand Concourse Press, 2012), and Notes on the Return to the Island (Grand Concourse Press, 2017). He founded Grand Concourse Press, named after the thoroughfare he grew up on, in 2012. Rojas identifies as one of the “next generation” of Nuyorican poets. In an interview with Gabriela Sierra Alonso, Rojas notes, “I don't do the salsa thing. I'm a Nuyorican poet, but that's not my thing. I embrace the Nuyorican label as an artist, and as a poet—because it is a school. … The truth is that I'm Puerto Rican, and there are many ways to express that—not just by listening to our parents' music, or going to these hyper cultural events.” Rojas is the 2002 slam this! champion and has performed on HBO's Def Poetry Jam as well as in numerous venues in New York City and internationally. His writing appears in journals and anthologies that include Bum Rush the Page: A Def Poetry Jam (Three Rivers Press, 2001) and Role Call: A Generational Anthology of Social & Political Black Literature & Art (Third World Press, 2002). He is a guitar player and leader of the rock group Mona Passage. He lives in New York City and travels frequently to Puerto Rico, where he lectures on poetry with the hope, according to Alonso, “of inspiring the next generation of Nuyorican poets."
