July 20, 2024, marks 10 years since Cork venue the Pavilion, run by Pat Conway, Stevie G and Joe Kelly, closed its doors. It left an indelible mark on me and so many music lovers. Friendships were formed there, ideas were hatched, bands were watched, and DJs filled the floors. On this episode of the TPOE podcast, a whole host of the people who loved the Pav recall the six years when the recession took hold of Ireland and the Pavilion opened its doors. The first gig was Evan Dando and the Lemonheads in April 2008. The following year, Kanye West and the xx both graced its stage and the Pav was up and running. Theo Parrish, King Britt, the Pharcyde, Roy Ayers, Floating Points, Franz Ferdinand Eddie Reader, Lee Fields, Candi Staton, NASA, Theesatisfaction, Shabazz Palaces, Sly and Robbie, Lonnie Liston Smith, and Rakim are just some of the big international acts who played the Pav in that time. It also hosted and supported so many Irish acts, from Altered Hours to Hozier, Saint Yorda to Gilla Band. There were club nights like Go Deep, Sunday Times and Floating Joints which called the Pav home over the years. We hear about all of these and more over the course of this episode charting one of the best venues the country has ever seen. In this episode of the Awareness to Action Enneagram podcast, Mario Sikora, María José Munita, Seth "Creek" Creekmore and Lee Fields recap last week's episode with Christian McClain. María José and Lee share their hypotheses from their initial listen of the episode, and Mario provides a more in-depth look into his thought process in determining Christian's Enneagram type.“Expect that there will be confirmation bias. Expect that you're looking for both of these components and they might be in conflict with one another, and so hold room in your mind that you're not precisely sure what you're seeing until you have disconfirming confirmation.” -Lee [13:42]“Treat it as entertainment that you can learn some skills from and understand a little bit more about how the game is played.” -Creek [16:16]“Look, you just have to master the fundamentals of this. You have to understand what these instinctual biases are really all about, and what these strategies are really all about, and what really happens related to the connecting points. Not what we read about in the books.” -Mario [25:50]“In my mind, I need to pay attention to the things that are being said and not get trapped into my initial hypothesis.” -María José [32:37]TIMESTAMPS[00:01] Intro[02:13] MJ's conclusion[04:09] Conflicting combinations[09:23] The importance of the instinctual bias[16:23] Some of Mario's fundamental principles[17:51] Why not these types?[24:52] Master the fundamentals[32:21] Types not considered[36:55] The connecting points[43:46] The neglected strategy of Three[46:53] More tips for people to consider[54:25] OutroConnect with us:Awareness to ActionEnneagram on DemandIG: @ataenneagrampodMario Sikora: IG: @mariosikoraTikTok: @mariosikoraWeb: mariosikora.comPod: Enneagram in a MovieSubstack: mariosikora.substack.comMaria Jose Munita: IG: @mjmunitaWeb: mjmunita.comSeth "Creek" Creekmore: IG: @_creekmorePod: Fathoms | An Enneagram PodcastPod: Delusional OptimismLee Fields:Web: enneagrammatic.comIG: @enneagrammatic

In this episode of the Awareness to Action Enneagram podcast, María José Munita, Seth "Creek" Creekmore and Lee Fields talk about an exercise they conducted during their recent Instinctual Biases and Subtypes Weekend Workshop. The hosts explain some of the takeaways and common themes they observed from asking the participants to plan a party. Listen as they summarize how this reveals a clear representation of the instinctual biases and insight into the dynamics between them.“You lose so much in the digital realm. And I think I was just reminded with the workshop of like theory is interesting, but it's so boring and dead unless you actually get to work with it and observe it and interact in person with it. I think that it just kind of made it come alive to me in a different way.” -Creek [11:10]“Is this party going to happen? And will it be fun? It's a complimentary nature that you need all of the pieces to be represented, but different things will be highlighted if that group is solely in charge of the actual outcome.” -Lee [15:52]“And that's the main takeaway from all the groups that I've worked with, it's that I can now see the value of having these three domains considered, and I can also see how some of these truly bother me. I look at it and I just find it not compelling, not interesting, not important, but I can understand that it's important. I can understand that we need to have them all.” - María José [30:07]TIMESTAMPS[00:02] Intro[01:08] Most hilarious moment in Nashville[03:13] MJ and Lee explain the exercise[07:53] The dynamics and what stood out[11:35] The point of the exercise[13:46] Typical takeaways between three groups[16:31] Strategies for relationships[20:47] Common themes among the instinctual biases[32:10] How Pattern of Expression plays into this[38:14] OutroConnect with us:Awareness to ActionEnneagram on DemandIG: @ataenneagrampodThe Instinctual Biases and Subtypes Weekend Workshop: subtypesworkshop.comMario Sikora: IG: @mariosikoraTikTok: @mariosikoraWeb: mariosikora.comPod: Enneagram in a MovieSubstack: mariosikora.substack.comMaria Jose Munita: IG: @mjmunitaWeb: mjmunita.comSeth "Creek" Creekmore: IG: @_creekmorePod: Fathoms | An Enneagram PodcastPod: Delusional OptimismLee Fields:Web:

Lee Fields is a funk and soul legend who has been recording for 55 years and performing for longer than that. From his roots in hardscrabble Wilson, North Carolina — where his parents ran a speakeasy on Saturday nights and took him to church on Sundays — through the funky 1970s, Fields honed an explosive live act frequently compared to James Brown. After a decade-long setback in the ‘80s, Lee signed with Desco Records (an early version of Daptone) and sparked a comeback that continues unabated to this day. Now he is the subject of a documentary, “Lee Fields: Faithful Man,” available to stream everywhere on demand this week. Longtime TV Writer & Producer, First Time Documentarian Jessamyn Ansary joins us to discuss her debut film on the incomparable Lee Fields. Faithful Man is an honest & gorgeous portrait of the one most charismatic singers of all time, experiencing his late in life zenith at a time when we all need him.
I created this remix based on a sample from a tiktok video of the Muyun Brothers performing one of their songs. I shared this idea with my friend Whitmo and he suggested I used this Lee Fields sample he had on hand. It was a perfect fit. I wanted to share this with everyone cause the song feels so fun and makes me want to dance. Hope you enjoy! I don't know how to tag the artists I sampled more directly so feel free to follow them on these links: https://soundcloud.com/leefieldstheexpressions https://www.youtube.com/@MuyunBrothers
Trigger Warning: This episode contains discussions related to sexual assault. We welcome Hanorah to the sleuth to discuss all things anxiety, PTSD, self-love and more! Hanorah is multidisciplinary artist based out of a small studio filled with cats, canvases, and glittered tape recorders in Montreal's west end. With years of touring under her belt (including several television appearances and supporting the likes of Mavis Staples and Lee Fields), she recently took time to plunge back into song writing and forge a new musical direction. What emerged was a collection of songs highlighting the overlap between maturity and the enduring charm of playfulness. Music that journeys through emotions of the past and present, as she blurs the lines between the recurring cycles of time, choice, and circumstance. In short, her first full length album ‘Perennial'. A work packed with soulful ballads and RnB grooves as it digs deeper into Hanorah's musical roots to explore the lush tones and textures of her voice. Influenced by the likes of Etta James and Joni Mitchell, the combination of Hanorah's powerful voice and the vulnerability of her messaging naturally drew her to soul music. Following an early record deal, she released her debut EP ‘For The Good Guys And The Bad Guys' in 2019. The record amassed over a million streams, won her several awards, and helped her tour extensively through Canada and the U.S. In 2022, Hanorah released her debut album Perennial through Ensoul records. In its initial month, the first singles amassed over 50,000 streams on Spotify and 60,000 views on YouTube. The release was met with wide anticipation. It was featured on over 20 radio stations across Canada and multiple spots on editorial playlists through Spotify. Exclaim! Magazine listed the album as a ‘staff pick' for 2022 and she performed several tracks on the hit Quebec TV show Belle et Bum. The band is currently on tour supporting the album, with stops at Liverpool Sound City and Focus Wales in the UK, as well as Los Angeles, CA (Pop Montreal) and Austin, TX (SXSW).

In this episode of the Awareness to Action Enneagram podcast, Mario Sikora, María José Munita, Seth "Creek" Creekmore and Lee Fields continue their conversation on the pillars of spirituality – wisdom, efficacy, compassion and wonder – that help us engage with the world. They discuss how understanding how the mind works makes people more compassionate. “In my experience, understanding how the mind works makes me more compassionate.” -María José [12:25]“I think if anybody takes anything away from this, it's that this is what we're advocating for. In order to truly grow as a human being, you have to go out into the world and engage with it. And to do so skillfully, you have to cultivate wisdom, compassion and efficacy, and a good dose of wonder as well.” -Mario [18:53]“I didn't always quite understand why is it an important fact that you work with business people? Rigorous environment, that sort of thing and it was really helpful for me to understand that it's because the consequences are a lot more measurable than a book club on a Saturday afternoon.” -Creek [22:02]“It's practicing the tool and there's a “spiritual component” to that. To your point, Creek, it's getting up everyday and doing this stuff. It's applying it in real life. And that's enabling people or empowering people to be leaders in their own lives, to be managers of their own lives, whether they're business people or not.” -Lee [33:24]TIMESTAMPS[00:01] Intro[04:21] To recap what we're striving to develop[05:46] Definition of efficacy[10:38] Thoughts on compassion[14:43] Thinking is a doing[19:16] Our approach is for people, full stop[27:13] Measuring results[32:08] We use it because it works[37:30] OutroConnect with us:Awareness to ActionEnneagram on DemandIG: @ataenneagrampodMario Sikora: IG: @mariosikoraTikTok: @mariosikoraWeb: mariosikora.comPod: Enneagram in a MovieMaria Jose Munita: IG: @mjmunitaWeb: mjmunita.comSeth "Creek" Creekmore: IG: @_creekmorePod: Fathoms | An Enneagram PodcastPod: Delusional OptimismLee Fields:Web: enneagrammatic.comIG: @enneagrammatic

In this episode, the Fathoms co-hosts, are joined by Lee Fields and Milton Stewart to celebrate Fathoms' 100th episode and to announce and exciting new partnership with the IEA as temporary hosts of the International Enneagram Association Podcast for this year's global conference. Listen as they all share what this year's theme, “Unite & Ignite,” mean to them within the Enneagram community and what they are most looking forward to at the conference.“I love the Enneagram because it's a tool for liberation.” - Milton [02:41]“In relation to what we've been building for the past three years of Fathoms, how wide and complex it is to be human, and how the Enneagram is such a beautiful tool to help us navigate that, and I'm looking forward to adding more complexity and seeing how the Enneagram stands up” -Creek [14:16]“Why is there this factioning, why is there this othering between the new guard and the old guard? What's up? And it seems like it could be fixed with two lines of dialogue. What needs to happen? And I don't believe that I'm the secret sauce that's going to fix all of that, but I believe that naming it and doing something about it and striving to have connections between people is going to be the thing that's going to do it.” -Lee [19:31]“Especially in the Enneagram space, we spend so much time looking at ourselves and I feel like this is an opportunity to really look each other in the eye and to see one another more clearly.” -Lindsey [23:34]“When I think of these United & Ignite, it makes sense to me that we have to come together to experience the fire.” -Abram [30:22]“I think some of the most meaningful conversations I've ever had have been around a campfire and I think that's a good way to approach a conference like this. We had the pleasure of interviewing Donna Missal over Zoom video! In the summer of 2022, Donna Missal was disoriented to find herself living out of her car and on friends' couches in Los Angeles, questioning whether she could continue – financially and emotionally – to make music. In the past five years, she had collected tens of millions of streams across platforms, cultivated a passionate fan base for her heartfelt songwriting, played festivals from Bonnaroo to Bottle Rock, and toured with high-profile artists including Lewis Capaldi, CHVRCHES, and King Princess. Rolling Stone calls her music “stunning”, and Billboard has hailed her “drop kick of a vocal.” But still, Missal was struggling. Working through the pain, she found refuge in the creative process, digging deep into her beliefs about safety and satisfaction.Missal had started out as a songwriter and backing artist, collaborating with artists like Tinashe, Sharon Van Etten, Macklemore, and Lee Fields, and landing a publishing contract in her early 20s. After what The Guardian called the “strident queer torch songs” of 2020s Lighter, Missal became a sought-out vocalist, tapped to contribute a cover of Cigarettes After Sex's “Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby” for the Oscar-winning film Promising Young Woman. In the confines of the early pandemic, Missal dove into bedroom pop recordings, using her powerful voice in a quieter way to avoid disturbing her neighbors. She showcased this spare and sexy homespun electronica on 2022's in the mirror, in the night EP, which was executive produced by Sega Bodega (FKA Twigs, Caroline Polachek). We want to hear from you!
