Angela talks to Maddy Dychtwald, who shares insights from her book "Ageless Aging" focusing on women's health and longevity. They discuss the importance of hormone replacement therapy for brain health, the impact of an anti-inflammatory diet on metabolic health, and the significance of exercise for maintaining muscle mass and balance. Maddy also delves into skincare and hair health tips, emphasising the benefits of vitamin C and Retin-A products. KEY TAKEAWAYS Eating an anti-inflammatory diet, staying hydrated, and avoiding added sugars and alcohol can improve skin and overall health. Incorporating strength training exercises and balance tests like the Flamingo Test can help prevent falls and maintain physical health as one ages. Focus on getting quality sleep rather than just quantity, ensuring you wake up feeling refreshed. Practices like sun exposure in the morning can aid in regulating circadian rhythms. Consider bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, especially for women experiencing hormonal imbalances during menopause, to support brain health and overall well-being. CoQ10 can be beneficial for muscle strength and counteracting side effects of certain medications like statins, providing a natural alternative to address health concerns. BEST MOMENTS "I've been on this beat of longevity and aging and retirement for, Gosh, close to 40 years. So you do the math, you can figure it out. I'm 74 years old." What women in the know already know, and what major news outlets are reporting with escalating frequency—the world is about to change. In the United States and in many nations around the world, women are on the cusp of new financial power—and evidence suggests that women will use this power to improve society in ways we can only begin to imagine. In Influence, renowned demographer and trend expert Maddy Dychtwald with writer Christine Larson expertly show this profound growth in female authority, a growth that is ongoing and already causing far-reaching effects in the workplace, the marketplace, and the home.  For the first time in history a majority of women are earning their own money and paying their own money and paying their own way and, so, taking charge and making changes in their careers, their consumerism, their personal lives, their investments, and their activism.  Through candid interviews, lively reporting and with exclusive research, Dychtwald reveals a huge cultural transformation that is about to occur—a true tipping point, after which more children will have quality health care and education, workplaces will be more responsive to families, men will experience new freedoms and opportunities to pursue more meaningful careers, and those corporations and nations led by women will thrive—as corporations and nations led by women are already doing today. Dychtwald and Larson give us a sneak peek at the world turned right-side-up by women.  To read this book is to prepare one's self for an altered—and improved—cultural landscape to come.

Exactly a century ago the first woman was elected to national office; 32 years ago we got the first female Supreme Court justice; and 23 years ago women got their own bathroom off the Senate floor. With more than 100 women serving in Congress today, they make up more than 20 percent of the Senate body and have finally achieved a "critical mass" of representation in American politics.Representation, though, is hardly winner-take-all. According to Jay Newton-Small's Broad Influence: How Women Are Changing the Way America Works, women are better at consensus building and more able to avoid ego-driven decision making, but they also report feeling more likely to default to apologies, self-consciousness, and a greater aversion to risk. In any case, it's clear that their presence and influence in Washington has reached a tipping point that affects not only the inner workings of government, but also how Americans more broadly live and work.PARTICIPANTSJay Newton-SmallCorrespondent, TIMEFellow, New AmericaAuthor, Broad Influence: How Women Are Changing the Way America Works@JNSmallAlex Wagner Analyst and contributor, MSNBC@alexwagnerBernadette Meehan Dean and Virginia Rusk Fellow, Institute for the Study of Diplomacy, Georgetown University School of Foreign ServiceFormer Spokesperson, White House National Security Council@MeehanBMCaroline Modarressy-TehraniHost, Huffington Post Live@CaroMT

Maddy Dychtwald - Author of Influence: How Women's Soaring Economic Power Will Transform Our World for the Better, co-founder of Age Wave, world renowned speaker, leading expert on the changing demographic trends—both generation- and gender-related—shaping the marketplace, the workplace and our lives. The aging of the workforce has been well publicized.  The baby-boom generation is reaching retirement and there is a supposed "talent gap" that is going to be problematic to our economy.  Talent gap? What about awesome young people! Well, let's hope these young people are awesome, because we are all going to be relying on them to fill some big shoes.  And as we have covered in previous episode, the younger generations are technologically savvy and very motivated; however, they also lack experience, and insist that things are done on their schedule, in their way.  Lucky for us all, we have a secret weapon that is helping us fill this talent gap and change the working landscape...women! The increase in women in the work place and in positions of power has really helped off-set the increase in retirees. This shift has not only helped fill the gaps, but has also greatly improved productivity and innovation - and Maddy is going to tell you how! Maddy co-founded Age Wave, the nation’s foremost thought-leader on population aging trends and their profound business, lifestyle and cultural implications.  The company provides breakthrough research, award-winning communications, and results-driven marketing and consulting initiatives to more than half of the Fortune 500. She has spent more than 25 years investigating and forecasting lifestyle and market trends of older adults and the 79 million baby boomers.  Building on this knowledge, she has recently emerged as a renowned authority on the rising economic influence of women and their impact on industries, ranging from financial services and healthcare to consumer marketing. Her newest book, INFLUENCE: How Women’s Soaring Economic Power Will Transform Our World for the Better explores how women are the major change agent of the decade to come. A graduate of New York University, Maddy has been married for more than 25 years and has been a working mom living in the San Francisco Bay Area for much of her adult life.
