The $20 Billion Lie: What the Fertility Industry Doesn't Want You to Know

In this powerful and eye-opening conversation, we sit down with the founders of WeNatal, a company redefining preconception health for both women and men. Together, we dive into the overlooked science of Trimester Zero—the 3 - 4 months before trying to conceive—and why this time frame can be a game-changer for both natural conception and IVF outcomes. From egg and sperm quality to the role of mitochondria, epigenetics, and environmental toxins, this episode breaks down the science, dispels myths, and provides tangible, realistic steps you can take to optimize your fertility—without the stress of perfectionism. We also unpack why the conversation around fertility needs to shift from being a “women's health” issue to a team sport. *** About the WeNatal Founders: After experiencing heartbreaking miscarriages just one week apart, best friends Vida and Ronit were devastated—and confused. Both healthy, taking standard prenatal vitamins, and yet with no answers from their doctors beyond “it's random” or “it's your age,” they began digging deeper. In their search, they uncovered a glaring gap in the conversation: the male partner's health. Half the equation was being left out entirely. Determined to change the fertility journey for themselves and others, they poured over the research, worked with leading experts, and developed a science-backed prenatal system for both women and men. What started as a deeply personal mission has now grown into WeNatal, a movement to empower couples with the knowledge, tools, and products to support conception, pregnancy, and the lifelong health of future generations. *** Subscribe to The Neuro Experience for more conversations at the intersection of brain science and performance. Welcome to part two of my interview with Dr. Terry Wahls. We continue discussing some of Dr. Wahls' recommendations for healthy living. In many ways, a health journey is a hero's journey. It involves a separation from a conventional approach to disease in which you learn important lessons before successfully re-engaging in the struggle. Dr. Wahls practices the same advice she preaches. That sometimes means packing a cabbage in her carry-on luggage. Of course, not everyone can follow the Wahls Protocol to the letter. Dr. Wahls shares how people can adapt her protocol to conform to various dietary and lifestyle restrictions. That way, it's possible to eat a paleo diet as well as a vegetarian one. A large part of Dr. Wahls' protocol centers on ketogenic eating. There is a growing body of evidence that this type of diet has huge benefits. This includes mental and neurological health and it helps those with insulin resistance. But, there are risks associated with it, such as high cholesterol. Dr. Wahls provides some great advice for adapting the diet to suit anyone's particular needs. Dr. Wahls shares some of her favorite meals that you can prepare at home. Just because chicken liver is the main ingredient, doesn't mean your dinner shouldn't taste great. These are wonderful delicious meals that are easy to make and will help keep you healthy. Chronic disease can have a devastating impact on your life. It can be all too easy to give up and accept the new normal, but there are often ways to regain control. Dr. Terry Wahls not only found a way to slow the progression of her own disease, but she also developed a protocol to help others do the same. Dr. Wahls is recognized worldwide for her protocol which is transforming the lives of countless people. She is a clinical professor at the University of Iowa. Dr. Wahls conducts clinical trials into the efficacy of therapeutic lifestyle to treat multiple sclerosis-related symptoms. She is the author of The Wahls Protocol as well as her revolutionary cookbook. In part one of our conversation, Dr. Wahls shares the specifics of her protocol. Before her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, Dr. Wahls was an incredibly active woman. After seeking out various aggressive treatments for her condition, Dr. Wahls realized that it was up to her to take control of her health. Dr. Wahls came to realize that redesigning a paleo-diet to focus on the right nutrients could make a difference. Within months, she experienced massive improvements and is as active as ever. A key part of her recovery centers on feeding the mitochondria. With her redesigned diet, Dr. Wahls is able to better make use of the nutritional compounds that would otherwise be in supplements. Eating lots of green leafy, colorful, and sulfur-rich vegetables is a key part of this. Likewise, there are foods to avoid, particularly gluten and casein. Changing your habits and diet is easier said than done. Most practitioners know the struggle of patient compliance. Dr. Wahls shares some great advice for helping to motivate patients so that they can better take ownership of their health. Have you changed your diet in response to chronic disease? Broadcast from KSQD, Santa Cruz on 7-03-2025: Dr. Dawn responds to an email about vitamin D and statin interactions, explaining how statins may prevent vitamin D's longevity benefits by interfering with CoQ10 production. She references a study showing vitamin D preserved telomeres and prevented aging over 3-4 years, but benefits disappeared in statin users. For borderline high LDL, she recommends testing for large versus small particles and oxidized LDL rather than treating with statins or red yeast rice. Red yeast rice may also block CoQ10 production, potentially negating vitamin D benefits. She discusses the critical problem of overmedication in elderly patients through a story of a 75-year-old taking 21 prescription drugs who improved dramatically when reduced to eight medications. Multiple specialists practicing standard care in isolation create dangerous polypharmacy without coordination. HIPAA privacy laws prevent medication sharing between providers, while electronic medical records remain siloed and incompatible. England's pilot program will provide whole genome screening for every newborn within 10 years, assessing hundreds of disease risks and enabling personalized medicine. While beneficial for identifying genetic disorders and drug metabolism variations like 2D6 mutations affecting tamoxifen effectiveness, Dr. Dawn expresses concern about government surveillance implications. Unlike voluntary phone tracking, this represents involuntary comprehensive genetic monitoring of citizens unable to provide informed consent. She describes alarming research showing cancer cells steal mitochondria from nerve cells by extending tubes and sucking out energy-producing organelles. This behavior helps cancer cells survive the hostile journey through bloodstream during metastasis. Turbocharged cancer cells with stolen mitochondria generate more energy and survive better when subjected to physical stress mimicking bloodstream travel. Dr. Dawn explores the parasitic amoeba Entamoeba histolytica, which causes intestinal disease but can become invasive, liquefying organs through tissue destruction. The parasite kills cells without eating them immediately, then consumes fragments and displays stolen cellular proteins on its surface to fool the immune system, potentially leading to CRISPR-based treatments or targeted drugs. She discusses converting plastic waste into acetaminophen using modified E. coli bacteria. Researchers chemically degrade PET plastic into precursor molecules, then use bacterial enzymes to complete synthesis into paracetamol with 92% efficiency. This transforms environmental waste into globally important medication, though she notes acetaminophen risks for regular drinkers due to toxic liver metabolites. MIT research reveals that AI writing assistance reduces brain engagement, memory, and sense of authorship. Students using ChatGPT showed lower neural connectivity in memory, attention, and executive function networks over four months. AI users retained less information and struggled to quote from their own essays. Dr. Dawn compares this to physical atrophy, emphasizing that cognitive challenge strengthens neural pathways like exercise strengthens muscles. She warns about fluoroquinolone antibiotics causing aortic aneurysm ruptures, in addition to known risks of tendon ruptures and retinal detachment. People with dilated aortas, hypertension history, or smoking should avoid these drugs entirely. This represents new information that wasn't widely known among primary care physicians, highlighting the importance of continuing medical education. Research shows celecoxib (Celebrex) cuts colon cancer recurrence rates in half for patients with circulating tumor DNA, but provides no benefit without detectable residual disease. This anti-inflammatory drug appears to impair cancer's ability to thrive in metastatic conditions. The finding supports using circulating tumor DNA testing to identify who needs targeted therapy rather than treating everyone. Dr. Dawn concludes with surprising research showing chronic inflammation during aging occurs only in industrialized societies. Studies comparing indigenous communities from Bolivian Amazon and Malaysia with populations from Italy and Singapore found inflammatory cytokines increase with age only in industrialized groups.

Ubiquinol: The Missing Link in Cardiovascular Health with Dr Ross Walker

Is Ubiquinol the Missing Nutrient for Lifelong Heart Health? In this eye-opening episode of Wellness by Designs, Dr Ross Walker, a renowned cardiologist with 25 years dedicated to preventative medicine, challenges the conventional approach to heart disease, statins and cholesterol management. Central to the discussion is ubiquinol, the active form of CoQ10, essential for mitochondrial energy production and a powerful antioxidant. Dr Walker explains how our natural production of ubiquinol begins declining around age 30 and drops sharply by 50, contributing to fatigue and reduced cardiovascular resilience.Dr Walker explores why many patients with “normal” cholesterol still develop significant coronary artery disease, arguing that coronary calcium scoring offers a far superior risk assessment tool than standard cholesterol tests. Dr Walker also addresses statin-associated muscle symptoms, recommending 150 mg of ubiquinol daily for statin users, citing research showing a 50% reduction in muscle problems, and up to 300 mg for those with heart failure to support cardiac function and endothelial health. From mitochondrial health to protection against oxidative stress, this episode highlights why ubiquinol may be a cornerstone in maintaining cardiovascular wellness and why a more personalised, evidence-based approach is needed to truly prevent heart disease.Connect with Dr Walker: Home - Dr Ross WalkerShownotes and references are available on the Designs for Health websiteRegister as a Designs for Health Practitioner and discover quality practitioner- only supplements at www.designsforhealth.com.au Follow us on Socials Instagram: Designsforhealthaus Facebook: Designsforhealthaus DISCLAIMER: The Information provided in the Wellness by Designs podcast is for educational purposes only; the information presented is not intended to be used as medical advice; please seek the advice of a qualified healthcare professional if what you have heard here today raises questions or concerns relating to your health

The #1 BEST Food to Remove FAT from the LIVER

Don't wait for fatty liver symptoms to address your liver health! Find out what to eat for a fatty liver and discover the #1 superfood for liver health that can remove fat from the liver naturally. NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease) is being changed to MASH (metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis), which essentially means a fatty liver with inflammation. Doctors treat this condition with medications and never truly address the root cause.NAFLD is often blamed on “too much nutrition”, but what does this mean? It's not simply over-nutrition that causes a fatty liver. It's the overconsumption of sugar, starches, and seed oils. Industrial sugars like high-fructose corn syrup are especially problematic for the liver.Fatty liver symptoms include fatigue, pain or discomfort in the right upper quadrant, cognitive problems, yellow skin, hot and itchy feet, and extra weight around the midsection. The medical field has used observational studies to claim that red meat, organ meats, liver, and eggs cause a fatty liver. However, observational studies can not determine causation! Research has shown that if you go on a low-carb, ketogenic diet, you can decrease 50% of the fat from your liver in a matter of weeks! To improve liver health and remove fat from the liver naturally, add the following liver detox foods to your diet:1. Grass-fed red meat offers high-quality protein with vital nutrients such as zinc, copper, and CoQ10. It also supports healthy blood sugar levels. 2. Eggs have zero carbs and are a rich source of choline, which helps protect you from developing a fatty liver.3. Cruciferous vegetables, especially when fermented, help the liver with detoxification and also help to remove fat. 4. Wild-caught salmon and other wild-caught fatty fish are a very nutritious source of protein and are high in omega-3 fatty acids, which reduce liver inflammation. 5. Broccoli sprouts contain sulforaphane, which has potent anti-cancer properties and helps detoxify the liver. They can also decrease A1C to stabilize blood sugar. 6. The #1 food for liver health is grass-fed liver! Beef and lamb liver are low-carb, high in choline, nutrient-dense, and contain many trace minerals, vital in reducing liver fat and inflammation.
