Mark Chapman is back to host this League Cup episode of the Footy daily pod and it all kicks off at the London Stadium, as West Ham finally ended Manchester City's undefeated League Cup record after 1,827 days. The drama continued until the very end after a very tense penalty shoot-out. In the thick of all the action was former West Ham defender, Scott Minto and 5 live sport's very own Alistair Bruce-Ball – and they give their take on what was initially a very exciting goalless 90 minutes. Pep Guardiola also pops up on the pod to give his take on bowing out of the tournament. Not only that, it was a winning night for Liverpool after they got the better of Championship side, Preston North End, in their last-16 tie. Senior football reporter, Ian Dennis and Liverpool legend, Mark Lawrenson were at Deepdale and even though Liverpool came away with the win, Lawro was not too impressed by Jurgen Klopp's side, with even Klopp making a pod appearance after admitting his team “didn't play good football.” The London Stadium was not the only place that had penalty drama – as Leicester were made to go all the way by Brighton. We hear from a relieved Brendan Rodgers at the King Power Stadium as well. Timecodes: 0'45 – Start of West Ham v Manchester City section. 1'12 - Scott Minto's praise for his former team and where things have gone right at the club. 8'30 – Pep Guardiola on finally losing a League Cup game. 11'38 – Start of Preston v Liverpool chat. 13'00 – Mark Lawrenson on Liverpool not performing at their best. 15'42 – Preston manager, Frankie McAvoy interview. 19'58 – Jurgen Klopp on his side “not playing good football.” 25'13 – Brendan Rodgers on his team beating Brighton on penalties.

Shauyan and Maxwell discuss Manchester United's recent fixtures against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium where we saw Manchester United lose 4-2 and comeback in the UEFA Champions League midweek against Serie A side Atalanta where they made a late comeback from 2 goals down to win 3-2 from a late Cristiano Ronaldo header to win the match. These recent performances have put Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer under a lot of pressure to keep his job. Manchester United has been heavily reliant on individual performances to save them in matches. We discuss if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be sacked because of how poorly Manchester United has been performing. Mohamed Salah has been the player catching all the headlines recently with amazing performances for Liverpool this season. We discuss if he is the best player in the world right now and if not him then we who is. That leads us to give out our opinions on who should win this year's Ballon d'Or between Lionel Messi of PSG, Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich, and Jorginho of Chelsea FC. In the weekends biggest game, Leicester City welcomed Man Utd to the King Power Stadium and sent them home without a point putting more pressure on Ole. Mohamed Salah scores a beauty and provides a great assist in yet another display to prove any doubters wrong en route to Liverpool thrashing Watford. Arsenal save a point in the last seconds against an unlucky Vieira and Crystal Palace side at the Emirates. Chelsea produce a big win away to a tough Brentford side with Mendy in top form ensuring the necessary clean sheet. Tottenham pause any Newcastle celebrations, leaving St. James Park with a 3-2 win and the 3 points with Newcastle's new owners in attendance.

Burnley travel to the King Power Stadium this weekend to face a Leicester City side that have had a slower start to their Premier League campaign than usual. Burnley though have had a far worse start and are still searching for their first Premier League win of the season, and the King Power is not a stadium that the Clarets have had much joy at down the years. Sean Dyche's men will however be buoyed by their midweek win against Rochdale in the EFL Cup, and hopefully that result and the performances of some of the lads will force Dyche into making some changes.

In this week's episode, The Michael Anthony Show is joined by former Manchester United defender Danny Simpson. Having failed to make the grade at his boyhood club, Simpson's fascinating career saw him ply his trade at numerous clubs around England. Although successful stints at clubs like Newcastle and QPR portrayed the Eccles' native's obvious quality and ever present desire to win games as learned in the famed United academy, the void left by departing a team that saw him rub shoulders with the likes of Rooney, Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez seemed like one that would never be filled. Approaching what many deemed to be the tail end of his career, Simpson made his way to the King Power Stadium and with the club narrowly avoiding relegation under Nigel Pearson in his first season with the foxes, new manager Claudio Ranieri entered the fold in 2015. The Italian didn't hesitate to let Simpson know that he was far from in his plans and having spent the first eight weeks of the now iconic 2015/2016 season playing with the kids, the seemingly washed up right back seemed to be falling by the wayside of an underwhelming career. The 'Tinkerman' Ranieri had a vision however, and after a meeting with Simpson in which the wiley Italian admitted his shortcomings in analysing the Mancunian, the world of Danny Simpson, just like the beautiful game as a whole, would never be the same again. Leicester, in what will perhaps always be the most ridiculous sporting story of all time, became champions of England. As opposed to lifting the famous trophy in front of an adoring Stretford End, Simpson's moment came alongside teammates considered finished, not good enough. In an era of one hundred million pound players, the foxes ran England with a twenty eight million pound team. In a feat so unlikely that it undoubtedly left the realm of sport, this group of footballers changed the world. In a revealing episode, Danny Simpson revisits this period and also opens up on other aspects of his unique career. Working under Sir Alex Fergsuon, his views on his good friend Ravel Morrison, the benefits of knowing Ronaldo, player power, social media and his spat with Jamie Carragher are all discussed during this open conversation, as the uncapped right back shares his views on the current Manchester United set up and remembers the tragic helicopter crash of 2018 involving Leicester owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha. Available now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and other podcast platforms. MA Show.Support the show (https://open.spotify.com/show/0sP68DtD7qCl4Rs2wGKJD4)

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by John from Lilywhite Rose and former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Kasey Keller on this week's Last Word On Spurs show. Kasey Keller squeezed just about everything into a 22-year professional career. Over a century of caps and four World Cups for the USA, cutting his teeth at Millwall, glory days at Leicester, 83 consecutive starts at Spurs, the first American to play in La Liga and a title challenge with Rayo Valecano, only the second American to captain a Bundesliga side during his time at Borussia Monchengladbach before a hero's return home to Seattle, where he played until he was 41. He even lived in a castle during his time in Germany! As part of Martin O'Neill's golden spell at the old Filbert Street in the late 1990s, Kasey helped the Foxes lift their first trophy in 28 years - the League Cup in 1997 - and clinch three-successive top 10 finishes in the Premier League. He was also in goal for Leicester against is in the League Cup Final in 1999, won by Allan Nielsen's late, late diving header. Kasey later played in the final game at Filbert Street as a Spurs player in May, 2002 and then had a game he'll never forget in our first visit to the all-new Walkers Stadium, as it was then (now King Power Stadium) back in October, 2003. After two years in Spain with Rayo Vallecano, Keller returned to England with Tottenham in 2001. Signed as a back-up to Neil Sullivan, who at the time was the club’s player of the season, he took a while to establish himself at White Hart Lane and wasn’t helped by playing behind an often mediocre defence. Spurs fans retain grim memories of the 2003-04 season when Glenn Hoddle was sacked in September with the club in 17th place. Under caretaker David Pleat they stayed in the bottom half for almost the entire season and finished 14th. Through an unstable period, Keller was seen as sound and reliable, often making last-ditch blocks with legs and feet to bail out team-mates. At the age of 38 Keller finally made his MLS debut with Seattle Sounders where he stayed for the next two seasons before retiring. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS
