Rob returns to talk the guys through how with mind set training, you can get better focus for your game. Stop distractions, communicate better and even improve your life off the pitch too. I have been consumed by goalkeeping and the topics around the position since I was a young lad. After spells, as a young player, at Leyton Orient, Charlton Athletic and Cambridge United I soon realised that I didn't have what it takes to reach the top as a player and turned my attention to coaching. Having coached at Tottenham Hotspur, Wycombe Wanders and Fulham I went on to create one of the UK's most successful goalkeeping coaching businesses and my knowledge and understanding of the game continues to help keepers at all levels. This podcast is simple - every week, alongside gloveglu Founder and CEO Paul Sherratt, I'm going to share insights with you around goalkeeping topics such as techniques, training, diet, mindset and development. I want to give you a look into what it's like being a goalkeeper coach and, most importantly, help you become a better keeper. From time to time I'll bring in guests to share their knowledge and experience and to provide further tools to help you learn the skills required to command the six yard box. He represented England at senior level, earning five caps, all during 1991 while he was a Crystal Palace player. From 2009 to 2015, alongside his punditry work, Salako coached within Crystal Palace's youth academy as well as for a spell with the first team. John joins Steven to talk about the value of art and cultural enrichment, the ways in which he has learned to protect the assets he has amassed through his incredible career, why hard work matters, and the future of digital in the investment space. KEY TAKEAWAYS Professionals in their field generally tend to begin at a very young age, giving up much of their youth in exchange for their craft. But we should always take time out to enrich our lives, culturally. Tangible asset classes are outperforming the stock market, and are turning into safe havens for investors who wish to protect their money through these uncertain financial times. We all want success as quickly as possible, but we need to put the work in. You can't hope to learn all there is to know without getting out there and earning your stripes. Money is a great enabler in that it doesn't just provide the material assets we desire - it also buys us the freedom in life to be able to enjoy more. BEST MOMENTS 'There's a whole massive world music and art and film, and it's incredible' 'Art is magical' 'In life, you need to earn your stripes. You need to earn respect' 'You've got to earn your corn. Football's domestic leagues have wound up for this season, but we are here for you with some excellent chat from excellent women, as Dr Carrie Dunn joins Jen to chat about their respective new books. In 1921, women were banned from playing football in the grounds of affiliated Football Association clubs for 50 years. Of course women didn't just stop playing football, and Carrie's new book, Unsuitable for Females, is a deep dive into the history of women's football during the ban, and the people who kept the women's game alive. Our Jen's new book, The Year Of The Robin, charts the ill-fated 2019/20 season of her beloved Charlton Athletic. She recounts her personal experiences living through it with her brother, Michael, and looks at what a lower-league football club can tell us about society. Carrie and Jen also chat about being female football writers, tribalism, and where the women's game is at ahead of the Euros this summer.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/standardissuespodcast. This pivotal moment took him from keeper to coach and he's not looked back since. This show includes an EXCLUSIVE code for gloveglu.com. This is not scripted and I don't have questions. We just see where the conversation takes us. This is The Goalkeeping Podcast. Created to make you a better goalkeeper.
