Rejection & Acceptance Jesus Understands Isaiah 53:2-3 There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance, nothing to attract us to him. He was despised and rejected - a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. John 1:10-11 He came into the very world he created, but the world didn't recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. Luke 13:34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God's messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her ckicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn't let me. Shake It Off Luke 9:1-5 One day Jesus called together his twelve disciples and gave them power and authority to cast out all demons and to heal all diseases. Then he sent them out to tell everyone about the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. Take nothing for your journey, he instructed them. Dont take a walking stick, a travelers bag, food, money, or even a change of clothes. Wherever you go, stay in the same house until you leave town. And if a town refuses to welcome you, shake its dust from your feet as you leave to show that you have abandoned those people to their fate. Strategically Respond Matthew 7:6 Don't waste what is holy on people who are unholy. Don't throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you. Know Who Loves You Mark 1:9-11 One day Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and John baptized him in the Jordan River. As Jesus came up out of the water, he saw the heavens splitting apart and the Holy Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, "You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy." Matthew 17:5 But even as he spoke, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. Listen to him." John 12:27-28 Now my soul is deeply troubled. Should I pray, "Father, save me from this hour?" But this is the very reason I came! Father, bring glory to your name. Then a voice spoke from heaven, saying, "I have already brought glory to my name, and I will do so again." John 1:10-13 He came into the very world he created, but the world didnt recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are rebornnot with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God. November 5, 2023 -- "Lavished!" -- Pastor Kevin Kritzer; Bible Text: 1 John 3:1-3 (3) Consider this: The Father has given us his love. He loves us so much that we are actually called God's dear children. And that's what we are. For this reason the world doesn't recognize us, and it didn't recognize him either. 2 Dear friends, now we are God's children. What we will be isn't completely clear yet. We do know that when Christ appears we will be like him because we will see him as he is. 3 So all people who have this confidence in Christ keep themselves pure, as Christ is pure. --GW http://www.bethanylutheran.org http://www.facebook.com/Bethany.Long.Beach www.youtube.com/c/BethanyLutheranLongBeach

Join Audrey and John as they delve into one of the most uplifting and inspiring passages of the Bible: Ephesians 1. In this episode, they read through this powerful chapter, which speaks of how God has lavished His love and superabundant grace on us, and how His love cascades over us.. As they read, Audrey and John highlight the significance of the multifaceted treasures of redemption that God has given us, and how this highlights the incredible depth of His love for us. As they explore this passage, Audrey and John also discuss the contrast between God and Smog, and how God is unlike Smog, who jealously guards his treasure and doesn't allow anyone to touch it but God longs for us to come to Him and experience His treasures of redeeming love and grace for ourselves. This episode is a beautiful reminder of just how much God loves us and the lengths to which He has gone to redeem us. So, relax and let the love of God wash over you like a paradise waterfall.Music for this episode:I have written permission from both artists.Intro music is "I will follow" by Eikon Outro music is "No Sweeter Love: by Allie PaigeConnect with Audrey and the Eat Me Drink Me community Website: www.eatmedrinkmepodcast.netTiktok: click here Discord: https://discord.gg/JkRCXDS3Cg Youtube: Click here Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/646324359742601/ Email: eatmedrinkmepod@gmail.comDonate to help support Audrey's work on the Podcast Paypal: www.paypal.com/paypalme/emdmpodcast Become a Patreon: www.patreon.com/emdmpodcast Venmo: @JohnAudreyDuttonCashapp:$JandADutton Buy Me a Coffee: www.buymeacoffee.com/eatmedrinkmeSupport the show
The loss of blood is a serious matter. When it is a beloved child it is really so. God lavished His grace upon us through a rescue mission in which His Son's blood was poured out. Precious blood!

Have you experienced God's favor? Pastor Todd teaches us that favor has a higher value than wealth. Wealth has limits. When it runs out you lose your buying power, lose your influence, lose your position. Favor has no fixed limits. For the Christian, favor is lavished on us by God. Lavished means "to exceed a fixed measure". Favor that is lavished becomes more than your capacity. Favor is never ending. If God's favor is on us there is nothing we cannot do. Are you ready to accept the Lord's favor? The riches of His grace Have been lavished Upon you, In the Beloved. (Eph. 1:7,8) So, go ahead, Live lavishly. Not as the world defines it, Of course. Not the gaudy materialism Or wasteful excess Of a self-absorbed society— No, it is God's grace That has been lavished upon you. As Webster defines it: “To bestow with profusion.” The prodigal God has profusely Poured out excessive Affection, favor and kindness Upon you. If you looked at it from the outside, You'd call such love unwarranted, Wasteful. But from the inside, You just call it grace. Be blessed today for You have been lavished.
By [wbt_preacher_link preacher=”Vince Finnegan”] 1:1 Paul made known what God accomplished for us in Christ Jesus. “Saints” is the Greek word hagios that occurs 15 times in Ephesians (1:1, 4, 13, 15, 18; 2:19, 21; 3:5, 8, 18; 4:12, 30; 5:3, 27; 6:18). “Saint” means holy one. 2 The Epistle begins with “grace and peace,” and in 6:23 and 24 ends with “peace and grace.” “Grace” is God's divine favor and is used 12 times (1:2, 6, 7; 2:5, 7, 8; 3:2, 7, 8; 4:7, 29; 6:24). “Peace” which is similar to the Hebrew shalom means completeness, wholeness, well-being. It occurs 8 times (1:2; 2:14, 15, 17 20; 4:3; 6:15, 23). 3 “Blessed” is the Greek word eulogetos and means well-spoken of. We get the English “eulogize” from this word (1:6, 12, and 14). Verse 2 states the relationship we have with God and Jesus; verse 3 states the relationship God has with Jesus. “Heavenly places” is the invisible spiritual environment or realm, as contrasted with the visible, tangible environment we call earth. 4-5 God loves you, called you, and wants you. God desires a love relationship with you that is real, personal, and everlasting. The “us” is those to whom the Epistle is addressed: 1:1 to the saints, the faithful in Christ Jesus, those who have already responded to the call. Our freewill choice is not predetermined by God; (2 Chronicles 15:2, 4, 15; Matthew 7:7-11; Deuteronomy 4:29; Proverbs 8:17). The point is by God's grace, not your work, you are called and made to be His child. 7 Israel's freedom from the slavery of Egypt is a type for our redemption (Exodus 15:13; Deuteronomy 7:8; Romans 3:24; Colossians 1:14). 8 Lavished his grace upon us – the Greek verb used expresses the superabundance of God's giving, the overflow as of a fountain from a deep and abundant source. 9 The great mystery is a major topic of the Epistle that will be revealed. We are reminded over and over the blessings we have are according to God's kindness. 10 When all the times and seasons which the Father has determined are full, the age-long purpose which He planned in Christ will attain its fullness. Further review – Acts 19:1-20:1; 20:16-38; Revelation 2:1-11The post Ephesians 1:1-10 first appeared on Living Hope.

Whether depicted in movies, books, or even in our imagination, when we see a king they are typically being catered to or assisted by many different servants. Between royalty, wealth, or status, those in authority seem to have many at their disposal to serve their needs and wants. So how unique and heartwarming when we witness someone who could be served by many, choosing to serve those around (especially those possibly in a lower position then them)?! This week we continue our series, Giftwrapped: From Longing to Lavished, where we will unpack the covenant that God made with David in the book of 2 Samuel.
