19 Years ago today, Lisa Luckett's life changed forever. Her husband, Teddy had walked out the door that morning to head to his job located on the 105th floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center. His building was the first to be hit by the TERRORIST attacks that day. Her heart didn't want to accept that her husband was gone but her mind knew that her life had forever changed that day. Lisa Luckett is an incredible woman. Through the ashes of loss and dealing with the unimaginable death of her husband, Lisa found purpose. Within weeks of 9/11, Lisa Luckett vowed that she would make something good come from the nightmare of the death of her husband and all the others in the devastating event that changed our world forever. With a warrior's will, Lisa reframed her struggle and pain into a fast track for personal growth and positive change for herself and for her young family. Her book..."The Light in 9/11: Shocked by Kindness, Healed by Love" is the story of her inspiring journey that came from having an open mind, perseverance, and a different perspective. What she discovered is how the power of kindness can make the world a better place. With three small children and a country brought to its knees with shock and horror, Lisa Luckett chose a different path to navigate the devastation and find answers in the chaos. With courage and fortitude, she leaned into the struggle and broke free of traditional rules to emerge from the wreckage into the light. For her, 9/11 became the catalyst to confront a lifetime of confusion. That confrontation led to profound breakthroughs and understanding showing her a beautiful future. Lisa's relatable story and pragmatic voice will resonate with listeners facing today's fearful, changing times. It shows how calm minds and voices of reason can find the lessons, the wisdom, and the beacons of light that exist within any trauma. Please join Shawn and Jen as they sit down with Lisa Luckett. We actually have a choice to see the Light, the silver linings, in our struggles because life is happening 'for' us, not 'to' us. When we shift from seeing ourselves as victims and become the objective observers of our lives, we will go into our days facing life head-on, in a calm, resilient, offensive position.

September 11, 2018 marks the 17th anniversary of 9/11. But, for the victims and their families, it's as though it happened yesterday. Lisa Luckett is a 9/11 widow. Her story is both tragic and uplifting. Her new book, The Light in 9/11: Shocked by Kindness, Healed by Love, is her gift to the world. In it she shares what she has learned from this trauma to help others heal. With the clarity that only comes with time and distance, Lisa discovered the resiliency and beauty of the human spirit and vowed to not allow her husband's death to be in vain by making something positive rise from the ashes of this tragic nightmare. While, of course, we must 'never forget' 9/11, the victims, their families, and the ongoing threat of terrorism, it is also important to find a path towards healing.

In the aftermath of the memorials for the anniversary of 9-11, comes the story of a widow and her personal aftermath of the tragedy of September 11, 2001. Today's guest, Lisa Luckett, became a widow and a single mother of three children on that tragic day. But, instead of crumbling, she has managed to find a silver lining: 'I have learned that almost all scary, sad or traumatic experiences always come with silver linings. In society today, terrorism, tragedy and illness are in the news every day. It seems that death, pain and suffering is everywhere! What you don't hear about as often is what comes with it: the unsolicited love, support, kindness and the beauty of the human spirit that appear out of nowhere to guide you and help you to heal.' In addition to honoring those who died on 9-11 - victims on the planes and on the ground, as well as first responders - we need to honor those who have found resilience and are spreading messages of healing and hope to others, like Ms. Luckett.

There is tremendous value in life's struggles.Courage is having fear but doing something anyway. As a 9/11 widow, single mother and breast cancer survivor, Lisa Luckett knows the value of life’s struggles and sees the gift or silver lining in every situation. Lisa lives in the moment and watches life unfold and has let go of the "attachment to the outcome." She recognizes that life’s lessons lie within the struggle. When you go through an extremely traumatic event, it's like every emotional bone in your body is broken simultaneously. If that happened to your physical being, you'd go to the doctor. When it happens emotionally/mentally, why should your response be any different?Therapy is no longer a shameful thing. The greatest thing you can study is your own life. There are physical tactics you can utilize as well. For example, knitting taps into tactile touch, which soothes your central nervous system; it calms you down.
