Born in New York City and raised in the Caribbean as Richard Gerstein - Richard T. Bear boasts a career that spans more than 40 years, one that led to a string of acclaimed solo albums and collaborations with a number of influential icons, including Al Kooper, Stephen Stills, former Rascals Gene Cornish and Dino Danelli, Kiss, Pat Benatar and many more. He has shared stages with artists such as Dave Mason, Mick Fleetwood, the Doobie Brothers, Richie Havens and Odetta. T. Bear penned "Love and Pain," a track found on Take Me Home, one of Cher's most successful albums and also tallied several hits on his own, including the single "Sunshine Hotel" from his debut album Red, Hot and Blue. He has appeared on a number of recordings including CSN's Southern Cross, Billy Squier's Tale of the Tape and The Blues Brothers Soundtrack album. After taking some time to focus on his own sobriety, T. Bear became an early activist helping others with addiction. His self-imposed hiatus lasted nearly three decades, and now T Bear is back with two striking new releases, Fresh Bear Tracks and The Way of the World, his first studio albums in 25+ years. Richard is a distinctive singer and talented keyboard player. His latest albums feature a host of special guests. From Stephen Stills, Robby Krieger, Edgar Winter, Walter Trout, to former Paul McCartney & Wings members Laurence Juber and Denny Seiwell and The Heartbreakers' Benmont Tench. His latest album, The Way of The World, was written and recorded as the world emerged from the pandemic. It boasts a stunning set of 13 original songs. Musically, it's a stirring melodic mix of blues, rock n roll, Americana, and roots. T. Bear's first album spawned the single “Sunshine Hotel.” A remix of the song climbed to #4 on the world dance charts before becoming the dance staple that it remains today. Richard has appeared on numerous recordings by iconic artists including Crosby, Stills and Nash's Southern Cross, The Blues Brothers Soundtrack, Richie Havens Mixed Bag II, Kiss members Gene Simmons and Peter Criss' solo ventures, as well as Toby Beau's hit single My Angel Baby. As a soloist T Bear found his initial inspiration in the sounds of the British Invasion. At age 13 he was writing his own songs. An early break came when he was working at Manny's Music in New York City when Hot Tuna's Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady stopped in and hear him improvising on piano. They were impressed enough to ask him to sit in with them during a Hot Tuna show at the famed Fillmore East. He worked for a time as Carly Simon's road manager and opened shows for the likes of Jeff Beck and Richie Havens before moving to Los Angeles. In 1983, he took a lengthy hiatus from making music to get his personal life in order before returning to action in 2017. Fast forward to the present and T Bear is so excited about the new album. As he puts it, “Making The Way of the World was like getting a new pair of glasses. I see everything more clearly and in focus around me. These are songs that made me think and dream. It's an oasis for the mind.” Meet Richard T Bear this week as he unravels his incredible story of survival and comeback against all odds. I hope you really enjoy this episode.

In this double episode of TrackTalk, legendary drummer Denny Seiwell and John do a deep dive into two of Paul McCartney and Wings' iconic tracks: "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" and "Live and Let Die." Denny recalls being a New York session drummer and getting the call from Paul McCartney to record the Ram album, which turned into joining Paul's band "Wings" and creating music that, 50 years later, stands the test of time. Denny takes us back to the sessions for Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey and Live and Let Die with an inside look at how those iconic tracks were recorded. Hi everyone! For this weeks Drum Channel podcast, Billy Amendola speaks with a few of his friends Denny Seiwell, Josh Roosin, Matt Starr, Todd Sucherman, Wally Ingram, and Alvin Taylor, as well as Raven Drum Foundation founders Rick Allen and Lauren Monroe to talk about “12 Drummers Drumming,” and more. Rick (Def Leppard) and his wife, singer-songwriter Lauren started the Raven Drum Foundation twenty-years ago and has raised money for veterans and people in need with the healing power of music. This year the foundation partnered with MusicCares to film a stellar group of world class drummers, Veterans, first responders and supporters to the beautiful Amazing Grace estate of Mindy & Glenn Stearns (with the help of organizer Laurie Baker) to experience the magic of a drum circle, led by Rick and Lauren. The event was a celebration of the healing benefits of music and community. Please visit www.12drummersdrumming.org to watch the show, donate to the auction, and more about The Raven Drum Foundation. Thank you. Enjoy!
Gary Husband is one of a rare breed of musicians in that his expression is divided equally in his capacity as a drummer and a pianist and keyboardist of international repute. His classical roots, his quest and development in the improvisational, jazz and jazz/fusion areas – not to mention his tenure in the pop, rock, funk and blues circuits – are all evident inside Gary's distinct and far-reaching musical personality. His solo album and DVD output has also reinforced his status as a critically acclaimed writer and arranger in the contemporary music world. For close to four decades Gary has worked alongside a vast and eclectic range of celebrated musicians including John McLaughlin, Allan Holdsworth, Jeff Beck, Jack Bruce (Cream), Gary Moore (Thin Lizzy), British pop/funk band Level 42, Billy Cobham, Al Jarreau, Mike Stern (Miles Davis), John Wetton (King Crimson), Chris Squire (Yes), Andy Summers (The Police), Steve Hackett (Genesis), Robin Trower (Procol Harum), and with producers Sir George Martin (Beatles), Trevor Horn (Grace Jones & Art of Noise), Quincy Jones (Michael Jackson), Jerry Hey and James Guthrie (Pink Floyd). Further associations and performing/recording credits include his work with Randy Brecker, Jan Hammer, Jerry Goodman, fusion/jam band Gongzilla, Germany's NDR Bigband, Soft Machine, Maria Schneider, Christian McBride, Eddie Van Halen, Dean Brown, Bob Berg, Nguyên Lê, Joe Lovano, Charles Tolliver, Bireli Lagrène, Peter Erskine, Ron Sexsmith, drum n' bass protagonists Lemon ‘D' and Dillinja. As an internationally established drum clinician he has performed alongside Dennis Chambers, Vinnie Colaiuta, Terry Bozzio, Billy Cobham, Simon Phillips, Omar Hakim, Ricky Lawson, Todd Sucherman, Paul Wertico, Denny Seiwell and Bernard Purdie, and most recently has been developing a series of motivational videocasts in drumming. Welcome to the Drum Channel west coast broadcast with Billy Amendola and Don Lombardi. This episode features long-time friend and former Paul McCartney and Wings drummer Denny Seiwell. Denny talks to Billy & Don about his New York audition with Paul & Linda and his recording of McCartney's classic album RAM. Before he knew it, Seiwell was invited to join McCartney's new project, Wings, where he toured and played on the albums Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway, as well as singles such as “Hi, Hi, Hi,” and more. Never one to slow down, now at the young age of 79, in 2015, Alfred Music published his drum instructional book, What Not to Play! and you can still catch Seiwell performing with his jazz trio, his rock band, or a young group of friends paying tribute to the 50th anniversary of the ex-Beatles RAM ON project, co-produced by Fernando Perdomo. Let's listen! Thank you to west coast Drum Channel, Thomas Lang, and the Westlake staff. Audio edited by Butch Jones at the east coast DC studios.
A surprise for us! Denny Seiwell & Fernando Perdomo joined us again for a special interview yesterday! They appeared previously on 2Legs last year when the RAM ON Tribute album first came out. Now the duo that put the tribute album together are back and planning for a live show where the full album will be played start to finish with some of the musicians who appeared on the tribute record at the famous Troubadour club in LA on July 16th. We are incredibly proud and pleased to share our special bonus episode with Denny & Fernando with you. And if you are in the area in July please go to the show. Tickets can be found here: (https://wl.seetickets.us/wafform.aspx...) Fernando and Denny tell us how initially it was just going to be a live show of RAM back in 2020/2021 but Covid put that on hold so they ended up doing the album instead. Now they're initial concept is realized! Congrats to Denny & Fernando on putting this together, staying true to the music and spending some time with us today. Tom & Andy (A Special Thanks to Ethan Alexanian for technical assistance!)

The Ram 50th Anniversary Buzz continues this week on 2Legs! Tom and Andy welcome Musician Timmy Sean to the show this week. Timmy is one of the many musicians that were a part of the "Ram On" 50th Anniversary tribute album and sings killer lead vocals on 'Smile Away' and 'Monkberry Moon Delight'. Timmy gives us his background in music and early days of Beatles/McCartney fandom. He also explains the process of how the tribute album came up working with Fernando Perdomo and Denny Seiwell remotely to create these excellent cover versions! Timmy also recently released a "Powerpop Rock Opera" solo album titled "A Tale From The Other Side" (which just has the coolest 80s retro packaging to it!) which we both highly recommend! Versatile drummer talks about making all the records he played on feel good.
Good morning, afternoon, and/or evening! This week I’m joined by original Wings drummer Denny Seiwell to talk about his new project “Ram On”, which is a tribute to the classic McCartney album “Ram”, which Denny played on, and is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary at the moment. My other guest is M G Boulter, whose new album “Clifftown” is utterly brilliant. Matt grew up, and lives in the same area as me, and I’ve seen him play with his band The Lucky Strikes a lot over the years. He’s fantastic company; warm, eloquent, and very interesting. Matt gives us a track-by-track tour of “Clifftown” and we ponder what it means to grow up and stay put in a seaside town. I hope you enjoy our conversation as much as I did. In this conversation, Gary talks about his journey from early gigs as a teenager with the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, to 36 years of working with Allan Holdsworth, to working with John McLaughlin and the 4th Dimension, and more. Gary also shares his thoughts about “success” and the difference between waiting for opportunities versus creating opportunities. Be sure to check out Gary's website and his newly launched VideoCast education videos. They're amazing! http://www.garyhusband.com Gary Husband is one of a rare breed of musicians in that his expression is divided equally in his capacity as a drummer and a pianist and keyboardist of international repute. His classical roots, his quest and development in the improvisational, jazz and jazz/fusion areas – not to mention his tenure in the pop, rock, funk and blues circuits – are all evident inside Gary's distinct and far-reaching musical personality. His solo album and DVD output has also reinforced his status as a critically acclaimed writer and arranger in the contemporary music world. For close to four decades Gary has worked alongside a vast and eclectic range of celebrated musicians including John McLaughlin, Allan Holdsworth, Jeff Beck, Jack Bruce (Cream), Gary Moore (Thin Lizzy), British pop/funk band Level 42, Billy Cobham, Al Jarreau, Mike Stern (Miles Davis), John Wetton (King Crimson), Chris Squire (Yes), Andy Summers (The Police), Steve Hackett (Genesis), Robin Trower (Procol Harum), and with producers Sir George Martin (Beatles), Trevor Horn (Grace Jones & Art of Noise), Quincy Jones (Michael Jackson), Jerry Hey and James Guthrie (Pink Floyd). Further associations and performing/recording credits include his work with Randy Brecker, Jan Hammer, Jerry Goodman, fusion/jam band Gongzilla, Germany's NDR Bigband, Soft Machine, Maria Schneider, Christian McBride, Eddie Van Halen, Dean Brown, Bob Berg, Nguyên Lê, Joe Lovano, Charles Tolliver, Bireli Lagrène, Peter Erskine, Ron Sexsmith, drum n' bass protagonists Lemon ‘D' and Dillinja. As an internationally established drum clinician he has performed alongside Dennis Chambers, Vinnie Colaiuta, Terry Bozzio, Billy Cobham, Simon Phillips, Omar Hakim, Ricky Lawson, Todd Sucherman, Paul Wertico, Denny Seiwell and Bernard Purdie, and most recently has been developing a series of motivational videocasts in drumming. His alter-ego as a pianist/keyboard player brings an extra dimension to his musicality at the drums. Indeed, he has been the keyboardist & second drummer in John McLaughlin's 4th Dimension since 2007. Gary continues to devote a substantial proportion of his time recording and performing worldwide across many styles of music.

"Piece of Cake!" Tom and Andy were fortunate to be able speak to Denny Seiwell and Fernando Perdomo yesterday on the forthcoming release "Ram On: The 50th Anniversary Tribute to Paul & Linda McCartney's RAM" which will be released on 14th May on Cherry Red Records. Fernando and Denny give us an overview of the project's origins and just a handful of the over 100 talented musicians that are featured on this record. Denny also shared some terrific stories during his Wings days. During our conversation it was very evident to us that Denny and Fernando invested the passion and care to create a new modern feel for this music while paying homage and respect to the the original album with Paul and Linda.

What is it like playing the material of Paul McCartney/Wings live on stage? Ardy Sarraf (The Fab Four, Wingsband) returns as we continue our discussion from last week. Is it difficult to find a musician to portray "Linda McCartney?" What would it take to recreate the "Lumpy Trousers" tour? Do the songs from McCartney I and McCartney II translate to the stage? What does that mean when hypothesizing McCartney III?

Week 8. We finish up the Big Barn Box with our look at Wings Wild Life, Disc 3. We also cover the Wings over Europe book, and the Red Rose Speedway printed material. Along the way, a stop in Unplugged-land, Paul and Michael Parkinson chat about chips (or as we call them in the States, french fries), and even a look up at the Vanilla Sky.
Red Rose Speedway disc three and the paper goods from Wings Wild Life. Singles, demos, rough mixes, "Jazz Street" and three separate versions of "1882." On the Wings Wild Life front, books, an invitation to "the Ball," and reproductions of both Linda's photos and handwriting. Coming soon: Show 8, and the conclusion of the "Big Barn Box" saga!
More on the Big Barn Box. This week: A look at Disc 2 from both the Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway discs. For the former, we get alternate mixes of each of the eight tracks. For the latter, we get one of the proposed two-disc versions of "Red Rose Speedway" (also available on vinyl as "RRS Reconstructed"). All-in-all a quite different listening experience when compared to the single disc we have been listening to for all these years.
Continuing with the "Big Barn Box", this week we travel through "Red Rose Speedway", and discuss the album in both its previous and remastered incarnations. Along the way we get some vintage audio from Casey and AT40. Will "My Love" top the charts for a second week in 1973? Which George Harrison song was nipping at the Wings? Tune in and find out, and also hear some vintage comments from Denny and Denny talking about Glyn Johns and the making of the album.
The success of the Imagine LP was a welcome one for John and Yoko, who were settling into their new permanent residence of New York City in the fall of 1971. Immersed in both the art scene and the radical political underground, the couple had fallen in love with their new home and immediately set to work on a myriad of creative projects. On October 9th, Yoko’s This Is Not Here art exhibition premiered in Syracuse, which featured contributions from Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Ringo Starr and others in addition to Yoko’s showcased body of work. Noticeably absent from the festivities (aside from a drunken singalong by John & party-goers of Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey) was Paul McCartney, still warring with his bandmates and stinging from Lennon’s vicious How Do You Sleep? Cut off of Imagine. McCartney was busy putting an as-yet-nameless band together, including RAM drummer Denny Seiwell, former Moody Bluesman Denny Laine and wife Linda McCartney. The group was already in rehearsal for a new LP, choosing to double down on musical endeavors rather than be swallowed whole by the endless turmoil of the Beatles split. Inspiration for a name soon came with the birth of Paul and Linda’s second child, Stella, when complications and an emergency c-section gave Paul a vision of angel’s wings saving his sweet new baby daughter. With George championing Ravi Shankar’s Apple film Raga, and Ringo knee-deep in a saddle on the set of the spaghetti western Blindman, all four former Beatles continued to stay active and productive as fall turned to winter... More from the Big Barn Box. This time, Wings Wild Life. Paul McCartney and his unnamed band started recording in the summer of 1971. Paul wanted to follow in the footsteps of Bob Dylan and quickly record the first record from his new band. After the birth of Stella, the band was christened Wings, and the album released in December 1971.
Mary Had a Little Lamb, whose fleece was white as snow and every time we played this disc, the lamb was sure to show! Paul McCartney and Wings did four separate videos for this song, and all of them are presented on the "Red Rose Speedway" DVD. We close out our look at the "Big Barn Box" videos with more real-time discussion of this collection, including our thoughts on the Countryside, Desert, Barn and Psychedelic versions. Back to a more normal routine next week as we discuss the remaster and two albums proper.

Fun, laid back and a good companion to the album.
Paul McCartney has long held dreams of classic Disney-style animation. Years before he managed to lead the Frog Chorus to a number three hit with Rupert the Bear, he imagined the world singing along with Wings and a gang of cartoon mice. Whatever happened to Bruce, Yvonne, Soily, Swooney and Swat? We finally find out with the release of "The Bruce McMouse show" in the "Red Rose Speedway Archive Collection", and this week the WTWF guys give it a spin and provide some real-time thoughts and opinions.
On this show, we have the latest news, plus an interview with Denny Seiwell on the new McCartney box sets for Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway and the latest with his solo group the Denny Seiwell Trio.

Denny has great stories about his audition for Paul McCartney, starting the band "wings" with Sir Paul and the genius of Paul McCartney as seen in how the iconic song, "Live and Let Die" was written in 30 minutes, making the "Ram" album with the ex-Beatle, his own love of music and jazz, touring and much more.

On the Night of April 16, 1973 Chevrolet and ABC presented the world premiere of an hour from Paul McCartney that promised "Yesterday", "Michelle", "Long Tall Sally", and a medley of half a dozen Beatles songs. As we soon come upon the forty-fifth anniversary of that airing, history has not lived up to that initial anticipation. This week, the WTWF guys along with special guest Tom Hunyady (of the "2Legs" McCartney podcast) let the YouTube warm up and spend the hour commenting and providing facts, sarcasm, humor and select audio from the special (during those times the special held our interest, or we couldn't think of anything to say!)
This week, Allan, Ken, Steve and Al welcome our very special guest Denny Seiwell, who talks about his years working with Paul McCartney and tells some very interesting stories you probably have never heard before.
