Best-selling author, philosopher and teacher, Guy Finley has said that everyone on earth has the possibility to take The Hero's Journey. Not as an abstract concept, but as the core purpose and driving force in every human being's life. The Hero's Journey is our birthright, and the greatest, most fulfilling adventure we will ever know. A true hero is someone who, in the face of daunting opposing forces – being called to make a difficult sacrifice for the sake of a noble cause – does so regardless of the odds, despite the personal cost. To what “power” do all true heroes attribute their success; those brave souls who have helped to shape, to make our world a richer, better and brighter place? All attest to one simple truth: a relationship with a “higher power” greater than themselves. Join us as Sister Jenna welcomes Guy Finley to The Next Normal as he shares some of the universal and timeless spiritual principles that lead us to the personal revelation of Divine guidance, and the ultimate realization of our own highest possibilities. There's a quote that's attributed to Ram Dass that goes: "If you think you're enlightened, go spend a week with your family." From the moment we're born and throughout our lives, we experience relationships. Today we're going to discuss challenges in these connections - with our family, friends, and work relationships. Our guest today is Kathryn Ford, M.D. who specializes in relationships of all kinds and has been practicing psychotherapy, in private practice, for more than 20 years. Through the method she developed, Aperture Awareness, Kathryn guides others in staying in the present moment – which, she explains, is the key to a successful relationship. It's where the learning and growth takes place. Kathryn received her M.D. from Brown University Medical School and completed her psychiatry residency at The Stanford School of Medicine. She leads workshops for therapists and individuals through Stanford Continuing Studies. Read more at https://kathrynfordmd.com.
