Maundy Thursday Old Testament Exodus 12:1-4, (5-10), 11-14 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt: This month shall mark for you the beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year for you. Tell the whole congregation of Israel that on the tenth of this month they are to take a lamb for each family, a lamb for each household. If a household is too small for a whole lamb, it shall join its closest neighbor in obtaining one; the lamb shall be divided in proportion to the number of people who eat of it. [Your lamb shall be without blemish, a year-old male; you may take it from the sheep or from the goats. You shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month; then the whole assembled congregation of Israel shall slaughter it at twilight. They shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses in which they eat it. They shall eat the lamb that same night; they shall eat it roasted over the fire with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. Do not eat any of it raw or boiled in water, but roasted over the fire, with its head, legs, and inner organs. You shall let none of it remain until the morning; anything that remains until the morning you shall burn.] This is how you shall eat it: your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it hurriedly. It is the passover of the Lord. For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike down every firstborn in the land of Egypt, both human beings and animals; on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the Lord. The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live: when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague shall destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. This day shall be a day of remembrance for you. You shall celebrate it as a festival to the Lord; throughout your generations you shall observe it as a perpetual ordinance. The Response Psalm 116:1, 10-17 Dilexi, quoniam 1 I love the Lord, because he has heard the voice of my supplication, * because he has inclined his ear to me whenever I called upon him. 10 How shall I repay the Lord * for all the good things he has done for me? 11 I will lift up the cup of salvation * and call upon the Name of the Lord. 12 I will fulfill my vows to the Lord *  in the presence of all his people. 13 Precious in the sight of the Lord *  is the death of his servants. 14 O Lord, I am your servant; * I am your servant and the child of your handmaid;  you have freed me from my bonds. 15 I will offer you the sacrifice of thanksgiving *  and call upon the Name of the Lord. 16 I will fulfill my vows to the Lord *  in the presence of all his people, 17 In the courts of the Lord's house, *  in the midst of you, O Jerusalem.  The Epistle 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me." In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. The Gospel John 13:1-17, 31b-35 Now before the festival of the Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart from this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. The devil had already put it into the heart of Judas son of Simon Iscariot to betray him. And during supper Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going to God, got up from the table, took off his outer robe, and tied a towel around himself. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel that was tied around him. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, "Lord, are you going to wash my feet?" Jesus answered, "You do not know now what I am doing, but later you will understand." Peter said to him, "You will never wash my feet." Jesus answered, "Unless I wash you, you have no share with me." Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!" Jesus said to him, "One who has bathed does not need to wash, except for the feet, but is entirely clean. And you are clean, though not all of you." For he knew who was to betray him; for this reason he said, "Not all of you are clean." After he had washed their feet, had put on his robe, and had returned to the table, he said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord--and you are right, for that is what I am. So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you. Very truly, I tell you, servants are not greater than their master, nor are messengers greater than the one who sent them. If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them. Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him. If God has been glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself and will glorify him at once. Little children, I am with you only a little longer. You will look for me; and as I said to the Jews so now I say to you, `Where I am going, you cannot come.' I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."Ma

We recognize that these subjects may be difficult or triggering for some listeners. Please take care of yourself while listening. If you or someone you know is in need of support, please seek help from a trusted resource or helpline. Listener discretion is strongly advised. Today, we welcome Dr. Lisa Stanton to share her powerful testimony. Lisa opens up about her parents' amicable divorce left an emotional void she didn't know how to process. On the outside, she appeared to have it all—private school, sports accolades, and academic success—but beneath the surface, she battled loneliness, perfectionism, and crippling social anxiety. Her struggle with alcohol began early, with an immediate pull toward problematic drinking, and was soon compounded by severe eating disorders. While excelling academically and professionally, she led a double life—outwardly achieving, inwardly unraveling. The weight of it all finally became unbearable during the pandemic, when she was faced with a choice: keep running or surrender. Lisa takes us through the moment she gave up control and turned back to faith, discovering a healing far deeper than she ever expected. She shares the daily practices that helped her break free from destructive cycles, the misconceptions about recovery she had to unlearn, and the profound peace that comes from living in alignment with God's purpose. Her story is a testament to the fact that no one is too far gone, and that true healing—both physical and spiritual—is possible for anyone ready to surrender. If you've ever struggled with addiction, perfectionism, or feeling like you have to have it all together, this episode is for you. Dara vulnerably shares how the weight of a business that ended on difficult terms and years of negative self-talk led her to an unexpected realization: true forgiveness is about connecting with the profound power of unconditional love. Drawing from two decades of psychology and spirituality, Dara reveals how our brains are naturally wired for this healing process and offers practical steps to release old narratives and create inner peace. Whether you're carrying the baggage of past hurts or longing for emotional freedom, this conversation will inspire and equip you with the tools to transform your relationship with yourself and others.About Dara:Dara McKinley has studied and worked in the realm of spirituality and health for over three decades. In 2012, difficult life circumstances pointed her to forgiveness where she realized that many spoke prolifically about why one should forgive but no one spoke of how. Her background enabled her to successfully create and follow a forgiveness path that worked, but in the years that followed, the experience made her see some significant themes. In particular, she saw how mainstream forgiveness understanding (pardoning, ceasing anger, having compassion, and letting go) was obscuring the forgiveness path. She also saw that people who identified as spiritual-but-not-religious required a forgiveness path that was clear, and logical. This inspired Dara to devote her professional life to understanding forgiveness' infrastructure and to making forgiveness the practical healing modality it was always meant to be.Connect with Dara:On Instagram @daramckinleyHowToForgive.comDaraMcKinley.comReferenced in this Episode:Dr. Jill Bolte TaylorCathy HellerA Course in Miracles________________________________________________________________________________________ Say YES to joining Wendy for her:Say YES Sisterhood PWH Farm StaysPWH Curated France TripsInstagram: @phineaswrighthouseFacebook: Phineas Wright HouseWebsite: Phineas Wright HousePodcast Production By Resonant Collective Want to start your own podcast? Breakthrough Of Radical Forgiveness | Pastor Jarod Smith In his sermon, "Breakthrough Of Radical Forgiveness", Pastor Jarod emphasizes the importance of seeking God's guidance when facing spiritual opposition, drawing parallels from David's experiences with the Philistines. He warns against the dangers of relying solely on our own strength and stresses that radical forgiveness can lead to breakthrough in our lives. The message defines radical forgiveness as a comprehensive release of past offenses, encouraging the congregation to let go of partial forgiveness and embrace God's power to heal and restore relationships. He concludes with a call for prayer and reconciliation, particularly within families, urging us to seek God's help in our journey towards complete forgiveness. ____ Partner with New Tribe: Give | https://newtribe.church/give/ ____ Connect with New Tribe: Website | https://newtribe.church/comeexperience/ Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/newtribechurch Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/newtribechurch YouTube | https://www.youtube.com/newtribechurch

Watch the Video of this podcast About radical forgiveness How do you get out of a rut and onto a ridge? Although my book, Hike Your Own Hike, offers ideas, it doesn't discuss radical forgiveness, which can lead to breakthroughs.  In my first TEDx Talk, I discussed "How Travel Transforms You." But what if the wanderlust doesn't quite do the trick?  Then, you take another type of journey, a mental one, to unlock deep-seated memories and beliefs.   Ege Riitsalu is an Estonian who used radical forgiveness to dislodge a mental roadblock. Since then, she's run workshops and offered one-on-one therapy to help others take this mental journey. Enjoy this two-part series discussing radical forgiveness and how to employ it. Part 2: How to forgive the man who murdered your dad Don't forget to listen to... Part 1: What is Radical Forgiveness and When Should You Use It? In this episode, Ege Riitsalu introduces you to the concept of radical forgiveness. What's below is taken from what Ege Riitsalu has written about radical forgiveness. It's good for those with: General dissatisfaction with life: stress, anxiety, meaninglessness, lack of purpose, low income, poor physical/mental health, etc. Constant criticism of self and others, feelings of shame and guilt. Painful emotions regarding life events that have taken place (divorce, betrayal, offense, claims about a partner, etc.). Repeated life patterns in personal and professional life (separations from life and business partners, dismissal from work, etc.). RADICAL FORGIVENESS IS A FIVE-STEP JOURNEY that results in freeing yourself from emotional burdens and transforming negative experiences into sources of personal growth and inner peace. This process allows for a deeper understanding and compassion for oneself and others. Sharing your story: You get the opportunity to express, discover, and map your experiences and the feeling of being a "victim" Feeling emotions and taking responsibility: You allow yourself to feel all emotions and focus on expressing them in a safe space and a restrained manner. Collapsing the story: When discovering your story, move toward understanding, compassion, and empathy to separate your interpretations, judgments, and expectations and deal with the facts. Emergence of a new story: After discovering and releasing negative emotions and recurring disturbing thoughts, you can understand their motives and eliminate the story of being a "victim." Integration: You integrate your entire experience holistically through various practices. Radical forgiveness will help you: Return to the joy of life and happiness that is so characteristic of you. Find inner peace, strength, and balance. Create more harmonious relationships with yourself and others. Get rid of repressed emotional reactions such as anger, guilt, resentment, shame, etc. Get out of victim mentality and behavior. Jo Berry has founded the charity ‘Building Bridges for Peace and is an international speaker and workshops facilitator committed to bringing peace to the world. Jo is also an executive committee member of Uniting For Peace which promotes a culture of peace, non-violence and sustainable development. She is on the Board of the Global Alliance for Ministries and Infrastructures for Peace and is working to create a Department for Peace in Europe. Jo is also a founder member of Survivors Against Terror. Its mission is to help our country tackle terrorism more effectively and ensure victims and their families get the proper support. Jo shares her story below. On October 12th 1984 my father, Sir Anthony Berry and 4 others  were killed in the bombing of the Grand Hotel, Brighton as they attended the Conservative Party Conference. I made a personal decision just two days later, to bring something positive out of this emotionally shattering trauma and to try and understand those who had killed him. I chose to give up blame and revenge, instead taking responsibility for my pain and feelings, transforming them into passion for peace. The journey of healing began with my intention and I trusted that life would then bring me the opportunities to heal and grow. Two months later I randomly shared a taxi with a young Irish man whose brother had been in the IRA and had been killed by a British soldier. We should have been enemies but instead we talked about a world where peace was possible and where there were no enemies. As I left the taxi, I had a flash of inspiration, this was one way I could make a difference, I could build a bridge across the divide. The hardest bridge to build was with Patrick Magee, who was sentenced for his part in planting the Brighton bomb and released as part of the Good Friday Peace Agreement in 1999. I made enquiries from mutual friends and finally met Pat for the first time in November 2000 at a friend's house in Dublin. My intention was to hear his story so that I could experience him as a human being rather than a faceless enemy. I was scared and had doubts, but the strongest part of me needed to see him and speak to him. I asked him many questions and shared a little about my Dad. At first he began to express his political perspective, which though I was familiar with was hard to hear but I could see he was a sensitive and intelligent person. Then something changed. He stopped talking and said he didn't know who he was any more, he wanted to hear my anger, my pain and what could he do to help. It was as if he had taken off his political hat and had now opened up and became vulnerable. The conversation was very different after that and a new journey started, one which we are still on. He now had a need to meet me and rediscover his lost humanity. When he planted the bomb he was not seeing human beings in the hotel, they were just a means to an end. During our meetings, he began to develop the awareness that he had killed a human being with a soul, someone he could have sat down and had a cup of tea with. He would later say that he was disarmed by the empathy I gave him, that he would have found it easier if I had met him shouting, blaming and defending my position. I wasn't there to argue my point; I was there to listen and experience his humanity. After three hours I could not talk any more and ended our meeting by thanking him for his willingness to engage with me so honestly and he said he was sorry he had killed my Dad. Looking back on the years which have passed since the bomb, I am so touched by the amazing people I have met and the opportunities I have had to make a difference. I have now shared a platform with Pat Magee over 300 times and I see how our dialogue has inspired others to choose a non-violent solution.  I have learnt so much from this challenging dialogue and continue to do so. I have learnt about my capacity for violence and for non-violence. I am learning to give up blame and choose empathy. I passionately believe that there is humanity in everyone, and every time we demonise the “other” we are delaying the onset of peace in this world. Once we find our own humanity, and we see the humanity in the other, then we are going to want them to have their human rights, their good housing, food, medicine, education and freedom to be themselves, to be safe and secure. We will want for them all what we want for ourselves. Peace happens when we treasure everyone, all creatures, our land, our planet, and work together to find solutions in which everyone wins. We have been speaking in many different places including Lebanon, Rwanda and Israel and Palestine.  We have been all over Europe and in the UK we have spoken in schools, Universities, religious groups, youth groups and many organizations. I am now focused on working with young people and and empowering them to be positive changemakers.

Kyle Kauffman | September 1 2024 God's Kingdom is marked by radical forgiveness. Though we owe him a debt we could never pay, He fully and freely forgives us. And he now calls us to do the same with others. Our lives bear testimony to God's great forgiveness by how we forgive and forbear with the sins of others. And yet so often we are like the servant in the parable who refuses to extend forgiveness as we hold grudges or try to make others ‘pay' for the wrongs they've done to us. Jesus means for this parable to both shock us with the wonder of God's forgiveness and shock us with how quickly our lives can fail to appreciate and reflect that forgiveness in how we relate to each other.

Dave Brisbin 2.4.24 Some things are too big to grasp all at once. Like those Nazca lines in Peru…geoglyphs laid down on a windless plateau around the time of Christ—so big you can only see them from the air. Other things are too big to grasp within the limits of rational thought. You need greater perspective to see, not altitude, but a step outside conscious thought to the wordless awareness of pure presence. You still can't grasp the thing intellectually, but you can experience its reality. God's radical, degreeless, indiscriminate love is just such a thing. This is why Jesus doesn't give us a theology. More things to think about. We can understand the words that describe perfect love, but not its reality from words alone. So Jesus gives us a Way of living, the only way to experience the reality of a love so alien that it can't be rationally understood. Alien. I hope that word is uncomfortable. Only if we are experiencing something uncomfortably unfamiliar at first, or even frightening or amoral according to our sense of justice, are we even in the neighborhood of God's radical love. Nowhere is this paradox more apparent than with the concept of forgiveness. Forgiveness is greatly misunderstood. We equate forgiveness with condoning the past, making restitution, even reconciliation, but it has nothing to do with any of these. Neither does it have anything to do with the person who hurt us…we can forgive the dead. In Aramaic, forgiveness descends from the same root word as freedom. To those who wrote the gospels, to be forgiven is to be set free from any victimization or unbalance that has occurred, to be restored to our original state. This is a completely interior process that only we can do for ourselves. No one, not even God can do it for us. God doesn't forgive; God is forgiveness as much as God is love. God can't withhold his own nature; it self exists. All we will ever get from God is love and forgiveness, but we will never know this reality until we live the Way, until we love and forgive those who haven't earned it. Then we'll know how real it is, how it had to first be given to us before we could ever give it away.
