The Minnesota Wild saw their season come to an end after a 4-3 loss to the Seattle Kraken at Xcel Energy Center Thursday night. The Wild finish their season 39-33-10 and led 1-0 after Kirill Kaprizov's 46th goal of the season. The Kraken tied it at 1-1 on a Power Play goal from Matty Beniers. Both teams scored a breakaway goal to start the 3rd, as Yanni Gourde scored a shorthanded breakaway to make it 2-1. ats Zuccarello scored on a breakaway of his own to tie the score at 2-2. Seattle scored twice in less than a minute, including an empty net goal for Gourde to make it 4-2. Brock Faber scored on the Power Play to make it 4-3 but the Wild could not complete the comeback. The Wild have a lot of work to do in the offseason in anticipation for the 2024-25 season. The Minnesota Wild picked up a win in their final road game of the season 3-1 over the Los Angeles Kings. Kirill Kaprizov, Matt Boldy and Ryan Hartman scored to back Filip Gustavsson, who stopped 21 of 22 shots in his final start of the year. The Wild scored the first 3 goals of the game before Drew Doughty scored to cut the lead to 3-1 in the final minutes. The Wild were 3/3 on the Penalty Kill, 1/3 on the Power Play and again got strong efforts from Marat Khusnutdinov and Liam Ohgren, who each played over 15 minutes. Boldy's goal was his 29th, Kaprizov scored his 45th and Hartman added his 22nd. The Minnesota Wild got a full helping of the youth movement as they eat the San Jose Sharks 6-2 in San Jose. Liam Ohgren scored his first career NHL goal as part of a 2 point night, Kirill Kaprizov scored twice and Jesper Wallstedt stopped 27 of 29 shots for his 2nd NHL win. The Wild led 1-0 and 2-1 before the Sharks rallied to tie each time, but the Wild scored 4 straight goals to cap the scoring in the 2nd and 3rd periods. The Minnesota Wild were officially eliminated from postseason contention after a 5-2 loss to Colorado on the road Tuesday night. Nathan MacKinnon continued his Hart Trophy campaign with a hat trick as part of a 4 point night and the Avs used 3 second period goals to build up a lead they never relinquished. Kirill Kaprizov and Matt Boldy scored in the first period for the Wild, but similar issues that have been on display all season showed up again and the Wild will officially play their final game of the season on April 18th. The Minnesota Wild dropped their second to last game at Xcel Energy Center for the 2023-24 season by a score of 4-2 to the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets led 1-0 and 2-1 but both times Kirill Kaprizov scored to tie the score. Kaprizov's goals were his 38th and 39th of the season. Beyond that the Jets showed why they are one of the top three teams in the Central Division as they took control of the game in the second and third periods. The Wild dropped a critical game against Colorado at home as they fell 5-2 to the Avs on Thursday night. Colorado led from the onset as they took a 2-1 lead after 1 period and expanded it to 3-1 to start the second. The Minnesota Wild failed to grab a critical second point as they fell 5-4 in overtime to the St. Louis Blues on Saturday at Xcel Energy Center. The Wild fell behind 1-0 heading into the second period, before Marcus Johansson scored is 10th goal of the season to tie the score at 1-1. Marco Rossi scored his 19th goal of the season midway through to give the Wild a 2-1 lead. Jordan Kyrou scored to tie the score at 2-2 before Marco Rossi scored his second goal of the game to give the Wild a 3-2 lead. Jordan Kyrou scored two straight goals to give the Blues a 4-3 lead. Brock Faber tied the score with his 7th goal of the season to make it 4-4, but Brandon Saad won the game in OT with his 22nd goal. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 22 of 27 shots for the loss. The Wild and Ducks were scoreless through 1 period before Ryan Hartman scored his 18th goal of the season to make it 1-0. The Minnesota Wild picked up a crucial two points as they beat the Nashville Predators 4-3 in Overtime at Xcel Energy Center. The Wild led 1-0 and 3-2 but each time the Predators were able to rally to tie the game. Jonas Brodin, Kirill Kaprizov and Ryan Hartman all scored for the Wild in regulation. Ryan O'Reilly scored the game tying Power Play goal with just over 2 minutes left in regulation to tie the score at 3-3. The Wild went empty net in Overtime and Matt Boldy scored the game winner, a move that would have cost the Wild a point had the Predators scored. The Minnesota Wild came up on the wrong end of a 2-1 overtime loss to the Colorado Avalanche in Colorado on the second night of a back to back. The Wild fell to 30-27-7 with the loss. The Avalanche took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal from Arturri Lehkonen. Brock Faber scored his 6th goal of the season to tie the score at 1-1, but Valeri Nichushkin scored in his return to the Avs lineup to end the game after Kirill Kaprizov was called for a hooking penalty in overtime. Filip Gustavsson was stellar in the losing effort, stopping 38 of 40 shots. The Avs thought they had the go ahead goal late in regulation, but the Wild successfully challenged for offsides and the goal was waived off. The Minnesota Wild picked up a 5-2 win over Arizona in their final game before the NHL Trade Deadline. The Wild scored the first goal of the game on Kirill Kaprizov's 30th goal of the season on the Power Play in the second to give the Wild a 1-0 lead. The Wild thought they had a 2-0 lead thanks to Jake Lucchini, but the goal was waived off as it was found that Lucchini was offsides. The Arizona Coyotes took a 2-1 lead on goals 7 seconds apart to start the third period. Zach Bogosian tied the score with his second goal of the season. Joel Eriksson Ek scored his 29th goal of the year to give the Wild a 3-2 lead. The Wild scored two empty netters thanks to Brock Faber, his 5th and Connor Dewar, his 10th to seal the scoring. Marc-Andre Fleury dominated early on, and finished with 23 saves on 25 shots to pick up the win. Kirill Kaprizov saved the Wild from a disastrous loss at home with his 27th, 28th and 29th goals of the season, as his 3rd goal of the night gave the Wild a 4-3 lead late. Freddy Gaudreau also scored for the Wild, who fell behind 2-0 and 3-2 to a San Jose team near the bottom of the standings. Mikael Granlund and Nico Sturm scored early off of Filip Gustavsson, who faced just 15 shots all night. The Wild are off until Thursday when they head to Arizona to take on the Coyotes. The Minnesota Wild lost 3-1 to the St. Louis Blues in St. Louis on Saturday night to fall to 28-27-6. The Wild fell behind early in this game, but thanks to Jon Merrill they tied the score 1-1. The Minnesota Wild saw their 3 game winning streak snapped by the Nashville Predators as they lost 3-2 at the Xcel Energy Center to fall 6 points out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Minnesota Wild saw their 3 game winning streak snapped by the Nashville Predators as they lost 3-2 at the Xcel Energy Center to fall 6 points out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference. After surviving the first period, the Wild took the lead on Joel Eriksson Ek's 21st goal of the season and led 1-0 after 2 periods. The Predators scored 3 straight goals, including 2 in a 30 second span to take a 3-1 lead. Matt Boldy scored his 16th goal of the year on the Power Play with just over 2 minutes to play to make it 3-2, but the Wild were unable to score the tying goal and lost a crucial game in regulation at home. Faber continues to climb the leaderboard among Wild rookie defensemen, as he is now 3rd all time in single season points among Wild rookie defensemen with 28. Marcus Foligno scored his 8th goal of the season to make it 2-0 after the first. The Wild made it 3-0 in the second on Marcus Johansson's 7th goal of the season. After the Capitals scored to make it 3-1, Joel Eriksson Ek scored to make it 4-1. Johansson scored his second goal of the game to make it 5-1. The Capitals scored two late goals to make it interesting, but weren't able to complete the 4 goal comeback. Filip Gustavsson stopped 31 of 34 shots for the win. The Minnesota Wild picked up a 5-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes 5-2 to complete their 3 game road trip at 2-1. The Wild started the scoring on a goal from Kirill Kaprizov to make it 1-0. After the Hurricanes tied the game at 1, Kaprizov scored again to take a 2-1 lead. The Hurricanes answered once again to tie the score at 2-2. The Wild scored the final 3 goals of the game, as Joel Eriksson Ek scored to make it 3-2, and the Wild added empty net goals from Kirill Kaprizov and Jake Middleton to cap the scoring. Filip Gustavsson was strong all night, but particularly early, stopping 40 of 42 shots as the Wild Penalty Kill was a perfect 4/4 to finish this game and 9/9 in the last two games.
