He graduated from the Cornell University College of Veterinary in 2019. After graduating from vet school, Massaro completed a rigorous rotating internship in small medicine and surgery at the Center for Animal Referral and Emergency Services (CARES) in Bucks County, PA. Following internship Massaro joined the family practice, where he served as an Associate Veterinarian for about a year, as well as the Marketing and Technology Lead. However, Massaro's interests in the veterinary management / technology world grew, so he then took on a series of roles at different companies, spanning from remote work in NJ to on-site positions in Philadelphia, Houston, TX and Knoxville, TN. All of these roles centered around advancing technology in the veterinary industry, specifically relating to electronic medical record (EMR) or practice information management systems (PIMS). In 2023 Massaro returned home to south Jersey and is now the Director of Veterinary Software for VetmEDUcate, a group of 7 hospitals. These include Absecon Veterinary Hospital, Art City Vets & Urgent Care, Audubon Family Veterinary Center, Cape Veterinary Hospital, Exclusively Cats Medical Center of Medford, Mount Laurel Animal Hospital, and Pennsauken Animal Hospital & Urgent Care. Collectively these hospitals employ over 100 vets and 800 total staff. Outside of work Massaro's interests include playing sports (soccer, basketball, tennis, volleyball), as well as hanging out and hiking with his wife Carolyn and their 3 dogs (Treeing Walker Coonhound, Miniature Poodle, and Texas Street Pitbull) and 2 cats (only the dogs hike, but not for lack of trying!). He is also very passionate about mental health in the vet profession, as well as the recent advancements in AI, and where those two things meet (i.e. AI scribes getting vets home on time!) and is very active on Linkedin! Wearable Tech Meets Veterinary Care: Maven's AI-Driven Pet Health Monitoring Solution

Petworking

If you're a pet parent, you've likely experienced the anxiety of wondering if your furry companion is in pain or discomfort. However, for many pet parents, the cost of veterinary care, and the inability to know whether a pet is truly experiencing health issues, results in a decision to postpone a visit to the vet, which ultimately results in poor health outcomes for the pet. As a pet parent, I've experienced firsthand the critical importance of early detection. My journey with Peony has been a testament to this: Shortly after adopting her in 2017, Peony pulled a groin muscle. During treatment, a routine SNAP test revealed she was heartworm positive - a condition she had tested negative for at the shelter. Catching this early was potentially life-saving. In 2019, while petting Peony, I felt a lump. My immediate decision to have it checked led to an early melanoma diagnosis, significantly improving her prognosis. More recently, we were able to address neurological episodes promptly due to timely veterinary intervention. These experiences underscore the irreplaceable value of attentive pet parenting and regular vet check-ups. But imagine having a device that could alert you to potential health issues even between these crucial moments of discovery and scheduled visits. That's where Maven.Pet comes in. On the latest episode of Petworking, I had the pleasure of speaking with Guilherme Coelho, co-founder and CEO of Maven.Pet, about their AI-driven, innovative wearable health monitoring device for pets. Here's how Maven's AI is changing the game: 24/7 Health Monitoring: Maven's device attaches to a pet's collar, continuously tracking vital health metrics like respiratory rate, activity levels, and sleep patterns. But it's not just collecting data - the AI is constantly analyzing this information in real-time. Early Detection is Key: Inspired by a personal experience with late-stage canine arthritis, Maven aims to catch health issues earlier, potentially improving outcomes and reducing treatment costs. Personalized Baselines: The AI establishes a unique health baseline for each pet, considering factors like breed, age, and medical history. This allows for truly individualized health monitoring. Veterinary Integration: By partnering with clinics and integrating with practice management systems (PIMs), Maven provides vets with valuable insights between visits. By connecting with PIMS, Maven can access a pet's complete medical history, provide vets with pre-appointment insights, and flag potential issues based on both real-time and historical data AI-Powered Analysis: An artificial intelligence system analyzes the data, flagging potential issues for veterinary review. By processing vast amounts of data, the AI can identify subtle changes that might escape human notice, potentially predicting health issues before obvious symptoms appear. Balancing Information: While vets receive detailed data, pet owners get a simplified app view to avoid unnecessary worry. Future Potential: There's exciting potential for partnerships with pet insurance companies to offer data-driven, personalized pricing. The Maven system represents a significant step forward in preventative pet healthcare. By providing vets with a more complete picture of a pet's health over time, it enables earlier interventions and potentially better outcomes. It's not about replacing professional judgment, but enhancing it. The AI provides vets with pre-appointment insights and flags potential issues, empowering them to make more informed decisions. For pet owners, it offers peace of mind knowing their furry family members are being continuously monitored. What are your thoughts on wearable health monitoring for pets? How do you see technology shaping the future of veterinary care?

On this episode of Kinetic Marketing Systems, our host Jason Littrell welcomes guests Elsa Rapp, Thomas Spaeth, and Gill Grosman to discuss a variety of topics. They start off by exploring the fascinating evolution of tattoos in the world of caps (athletes) prior to 2009 and the current prevalence of tattoos among caps. They delve into the significance of additional tattoos and how they were once seen as a form of stigma. Our speaker admits that they are relieved to be in a town that appreciates tradition and isn't obsessed with agave distillates, although they suggest ways to make PIMS cups even better. The sazerac and the view courte are also highlighted as popular drinks in the town. The speaker expresses their pleasant surprise at encountering kind and welcoming people in this town, particularly during their visit to a bar near Bourbon Street where they managed to find a seat just as six individuals were leaving. The bartenders seemed genuinely relieved by their departure. The conversation then turns to the Ricard Perno culture in southern France, which is associated with absinthe consumption, a distinct and once-trending drink. Absinthe sales remain consistent, unlike other beverages. The discussion takes a lighthearted turn as the speakers touch on quirky topics such as small TVs, stickers, pins, and reminisce about the past when people used to have tails at work. They reflect on how the concept of tails has changed over time. The episode takes a culinary detour as the speakers rave about the spectacular muffaletta at Napoleon House and praise the friendly bartenders they encountered at various locations. The conversation turns to Anne Turnerman, who played a role in attracting people to visit New Orleans, and how the city experienced an influx of tourists as a result. The bartender at one establishment shares her appreciation for nerdy bartenders visiting her bar and mentions that the present month sees fewer tourists. The episode concludes with some light-hearted banter, as the speakers discuss an amusing clock-like sound from a place they used to frequent, and Katie playfully questions the speaker's observational skills while walking down the street. Join us on this episode of Kinetic Marketing Systems as we dive into these intriguing and entertaining conversations.

The Modern Manager: Create and Lead Successful Teams

Most people have a general idea about how their colleagues or team members work best. You may occasionally pick up a random fact about a person's personality or work style, but it's rare to have the full picture. The result: we are frustrated by our coworkers because we don’t understand them and they don’t understand us. Today I talk about creating a Personal Instruction Manual, or PIM for short. A PIM is a resource that describes a person’s personality and working preferences, and its purpose is to help that person’s coworkers and manager better understand and work with them. Similar to an instruction manual that comes with a new piece of hardware or software, a PIM helps people understand how to engage with someone most effectively. The full episode guide includes a template for creating a Personal Instruction Manual. You’ll find questions for each section to help the creator capture relevant insights about themselves. In addition, I’m offering an extra bonus this week.
