TW: This episode contains references to eating disorders. Model, content creator, and author, Louise Boyce aka Mama Still Got It, is stopping by Gabby's podcast room this week. Louise shares her experiences as a very young model in the 90's; how she healed her relationship with her body after suffering from bulimia; re-entered the industry as a ‘plus size model' (at a healthy size 14) and made a successful career out of it. She explains how that journey has led her to where she is now: a middle-aged social media star, who makes thousands of people laugh with her videos depicting the mundane - and often challenging - aspects of motherhood. Stylist and founder of Green Edit, Charlotte Handley Green, is also on the podcast to talk about fashion and styling in midlife. She speaks about the importance of streamlining your wardrobe and building up ‘staples' and ‘showstoppers'; how style is ageless and we should only be concerned with how our clothes make us feel - as well as the importance of good underwear! Welcome to my brand new Do What You Love mini series.   In this series I am chatting with people who have mastered this art and I ask them the same three questions:    How did you find the confidence to embark on 'doing what you love' instead of settling for a 'sensible job'?  What sacrifices (if any) have you had to make, and has it been worth it? How did you develop your mindset to believe you can make a living doing what you love?   These are questions I was desperate to ask people when I was trying to figure out how to escape work I hated and do what I love.   In this second episode of the mini-series we have Louise Boyce aka @MAMASTILLGOTIT as our guest! Louise is someone who had a simple idea, had the courage to explore it and experienced enormous success as a result.   Enjoy the episode and let me know what landed with you by dropping me an email at hello@kiacannons.com    ABOUT LOUISE Mother of three, and model for over 20 years, Louise found becoming a mother changed the way she felt about herself – she lost her identity and confidence and at times doubted herself as a mother, as a model and as a woman, but decided she wouldn't let these negative thoughts take over. She wanted to feel and look like she'd ‘still got it' and wanted to help other women feel the same way too.    At the start of the pandemic she had an idea to post some funny motherhood videos on TikTok, she followed that curiosity and now is an award winning content creator with an audience of 231k.   CONNECT WITH LOUISE http://mamastillgotit.com/ https://instagram.com/mamastillgotit_ https://www.tiktok.com/@mamastillgotit_   MENTIONED IN THE PODCAST Passage To Purpose Course Finally live your soul's purpose. https://www.kiacannons.com/purpose   I am hosting a free 30-day Challenge to Strengthen Your Intuition. Click here to subscribe to the New Leaf Nutshell, to get your weekly round up of Episodes, tips, tricks, tantrums and more --> https://newleafpodcast.substack.com ***** This guest is the live wire Louise Boyce, aka the hilarious @mamastillgotit, who joins me on episode 2, series 3, of New Leaf podcast.  In this episode, Louise describes in detail the journey to the mamastillgotit empire, from the ‘heroin chic' modelling culture she battled with in the 90s which led to a serious eating disorder, all the way through to her eureka moment - where after the birth of her second child, she realised that actually, ‘mama still got it' and wanted to help other women feel the same way too.  She also discusses her outstanding campaign to get well known fashion brands to declare when they've used models with fake bumps for maternity clothes, which has fundamentally changed the landscape of UK maternity fashion. This is one impressive lady, and the rest is history. Louise describes each of her 3 births - each of them extremely dramatic and impactful in their own unique way. Also, each birth had a vastly different postnatal experience, and it showed me once again that birth stories never really repeat themselves - our babies have their own ideas and we are often merely a participant! The stories are amazing - and although I was 38 weeks pregnant when we recorded and terrified of giving birth again, Louise's story actually really helped me at the time to embrace the unknown and work with what I knew. Her story is both scary and beautiful all at the same time - but don't worry, it's a happy ending I promise. Louise's positive attitude with a healthy dose of realism, swear words and hilarity was super refreshing to listen to - and as someone who is a bit further down the baby track than I am, it was inspiring to see someone as vibrant and funny as Louise being incredibly successful at something she loves with three children, fully embracing her femininity and glamour in a way that yes, definitely says, mamasstillgotit.  Words / Structure / Content: Laetitia Gordon-Furse Sound Editor: Frederick French-Pounce

The cover of British Vogue's February 2022 issue has made history. It's the first Vogue cover to feature nine black models, titled Fashion Now. The issue celebrates the rise of African models in high-end fashion, styled by Vogue's first Black Editor-In-Chief Edward Enninful and Brazilian photographer, Rafael Pavarotti. Undeniably it's been met with celebration but also some nuanced criticism. We hear from Chelsea Mtada, the Arts and Culture Editor at Guap Magazine. We discuss the new legal duties being put on parents who educate their children at home. Parents in England will have to let the local authority know and register their child accordingly. If they don't, they'll be penalised. We hear from Charlotte Ramsden President of the Association of Directors of Children's Services and Gabriella Rook, a young trustee from Education Otherwise, the longest standing and largest home-education charity in England and Wales. The Winter Olympics 2022 in Beijing officially begin on Friday. Around 3000 athletes from 91 nations will compete for one of the 109 gold medals on offer. So who are the women among the Great Britain hopefuls? We hear from the four time Olympian and BBC Ski Sunday Presenter Chemmy Alcott and from Katie Smith Olympic Reporter from BBC Sport. Big investment firms are missing out on up to 2.37 trillion pounds of potential investment because of their poor record in attracting female investors. That was a warning this week from the giant investment bank BNY Mellon, which revealed only 28% of women feel confident in investing their money. Anne-Marie McConnon is the bank's chief client experience officer, and she tells us more about their findings. She's joined by Sarah Turner the founder of Angel Academe's, a network for mostly-female angel investors. Social media is filled with bloggers and influencers – so how does someone stand out? Lockdown has seen a trend in a new kind of ‘insta mums' – who are bringing humour and a dose of reality to motherhood. Both Molly Gudger and Louise Boyce have built platforms on telling it like it is when it comes to parenting. Presenter: Anita Rani Producer: Rabeka Nurmahomed Photographer credit: Rafael Pavarotti

Older women are the fastest growing age demographic in the world, so why are beauty brands not recognising this and embracing it in their campaigns? We delve deep into the subject with guest host Nadine Baggot - a YouTube and social media sensation and guests.
