In this episode, I chat to Fearne Cotton's fave yoga teacher, Donna Noble. Donna's been a yoga teacher since 2011 and without realising has pioneered inclusivity and accessibility in the yoga space. Donna shares her journey into yoga, initially inspired by a friend's observation of Madonna's physique (!) and how it evolved into a central part of her life, especially after her experience with Bell's Palsy. We chat about our shared beginnings in Bikram, the challenges of inclusivity, and why Yoga is fundamentally a social justice practice at its core. Key Takeaways:Wellness should be defined individually, not by the wellness industry.Yoga is more than just physical fitness; it's about the mind-body connection and community. There's a need for greater diversity and inclusion in yoga spaces.Teachers have the power to disrupt and change the yoga landscape.Addressing socioeconomic disparities is crucial for making yoga accessible to both practitioners and teachers.Episode Highlights:00:03:40 Donna's experience with Bell's Palsy and how it influenced her yoga journey.00:07:20 Redefining wellness 00:11:40 The importance of listening to your body 00:19:55 The power of teachers to create change in the yoga community.00:25:50 Social justice in yoga00:30:30 Addressing the affluence gap among yoga teachers.About the Guest:Donna Noble is a yoga teacher and advocate for diversity and inclusion in the yoga and wellness space. The Lazy Girl's Guide to Podcasting: A Podcast about Podcasting and Podcasting Tips
Fearne Cotton has managed to attract a massive audience for her Happy Place Podcast, even with episode titles that primarily feature just the name of her guests. This raises the intriguing question of how she gets away with this, especially when indie podcasters are often advised to use SEO-rich titles to attract listeners. In this episode, I delve into the reasons behind Fearne's success, highlighting her established brand and the loyal following she's built over the years. Unlike indie podcasters, who may struggle to gain visibility, Fearne's fame and the broader Happy Place movement provide her listeners with a clear understanding of what to expect.I also share essential tips for indie podcasters on crafting compelling episode titles that can help them attract their ideal audience and stand out in the crowded podcasting landscape.Takeaways:Celebrity podcasts can thrive with simple episode titles due to their established brand. Indie podcasters, however, need to utilise SEO-rich titles to attract new listeners effectively. Fearne Cotton's podcast success illustrates the importance of building a loyal audience over time. Episode titles should highlight the benefits of the content to engage potential listeners. Creating specific and descriptive titles helps clarify what listeners can expect from each episode. Trial and error with title formats can improve visibility and listener engagement for indie podcasts.Episodes Mentioned:Ep 104: Why SEO is So Important in Podcasting - https://lazygirlpod.captivate.fm/episode/ep104/Ep 107: 5 Ways to Boost Your Podcast's Google Ranking - https://lazygirlpod.captivate.fm/episode/ep107/Links Mentioned:ListenNotes - https://www.listennotes.com/Happy Place Podcast - https://www.happyplaceofficial.co.uk/podcast/This podcast is hosted by Captivate, try it yourself for free.

'Nothing was ever accomplished in uncomfortable underwear' - a quote I, and many others, wholeheartedly agree with. And it comes from the founder of Stripe and Stare, a brand dedicated to righting this! Katie has grown this business from her kitchen table, sampling products and testing them at a small scale up to the multi million pound company it is today, that names Fearne Cotton and Oprah (yes, THE Oprah) amongst its fans. But it's been a rollercoaster. From serious debt to the highs of customers investing in the brand, growing the business and team... and as you'll hear, it's clear that Katie really is just getting started.
Today's guest is the queen of embracing the second chapter. Fearne Cotton started young. She became a children's TV presenter at 15, presented Top of The Pops at 19 and took over Jo Whiley's mid morning show on Radio One at just 27. But it's what she's achieved since turning her back on live radio and TV that's really remarkable. In 2018 she launched Happy Place podcast, which has since amassed over 50 million downloads and expanded into a festival, bookclub, app and publishing imprint. As an author herself Fearne has written several books including the Sunday Times bestsellers Happy and Bigger Than Us. But when people talk about Fearne they still describe her first and foremost as a broadcaster - instead of what she is: a highly successful and intuitive businesswoman who has curated an entire career, business and brand around her personal passions. Now she's turned her hand to fiction, with Scripted, in which a chronic people pleaser learns how to say no. Frankly I can think of a few people (including yours truly) who could take a lesson or two… Fearne joined me to talk about how she finally found her balance in mid-life. We also discussed why being a step parent needs a rebrand, learning not to be a little bitch to yourself, respecting your energy levels as much as your bank balance. And why she love love love love loves being in her 40s. * You can buy all the books mentioned in this podcast at The Shift bookshop on Bookshop.org, including Scripted by Fearne Cotton and the book that inspired this podcast, The Shift: how I lost and found myself after 40 - and you can too, by me. * If you enjoyed this episode and you fancy buying me a coffee, pop over to my page on buymeacoffee.com. • And if you'd like to support the work that goes into making this podcast and get a weekly newsletter plus loads more content including exclusive transcripts of the podcast, why not join The Shift community, come and have a look around at www.theshiftwithsambaker.substack.com • The Shift (on life after 40) with Sam Baker is created and hosted by Sam Baker and edited by Juliette Nicholls @ Pineapple Audio Production. CAUTION: This episode contains swearing. What's the collective noun for a group of wellbeing podcasters? It's got to be a community, hasn't it! I usually release a Bitesize episode every Friday, but today I have something a little different to share with you. In today's episode, I sit down with some of my friends - other podcasters in the UK who are also trying to use their platforms to help people live better and feel better. You are going to be hearing from Fearne Cotton from Happy Place, Damiam Hughes and Jake Humphrey from High Performance, Elizabeth Day from How To Fail and, of course, myself. Hopefully you will recognise some of these voices - either from listening to them on their own shows - or because you have heard them when they have been former guests on this podcast, as Fearne was on Episode 230, Jake was on Episode 224 and Elizabeth was on Episode 283. In this episode, we answer a series of questions that were put to us in closed envelopes. We cover topics such as why we began podcasting, what we hope our shows achieve, memorable guests, why we love the experience so much, what we are grateful for and so much more. One of the things I truly love about the world of podcasting is its supportive community and I have certainly made some awesome connections and friendships through podcasting over the years. A huge thank you to the High Performance team for putting this episode together and, of course, a huge thank you to my podcasting peers: Fearne, Elizabeth, Damian and Jake for all making time in their schedule to make this happen. We thoroughly enjoyed getting together and recording this episode - in some ways, it felt a bit like an office Christmas party. Our current intention is to record one of these episodes every year - let's see what actually happens!! But, in the meantime, I hope you enjoy this end of year festive special.Support the podcast and enjoy Ad-Free episodes. Try FREE for 7 days on Apple Podcasts https://apple.co/feelbetterlivemore. Surprise! Here's a little Christmas present for you… For this very special episode, a group of my favourite podcasters and I got together to share the microphone and spread the love we feel for each other - and for our listeners. What a joy to chat with legit podcasting royalty - Fearne Cotton (Happy Place), Rangan Chatterjee (Feel Better, Live More) and Jake Humphrey and Damian Hughes (High Performance). As well as dominating the podcast charts, these creators could not be nicer people. Part of what I love about the podcasting community - which includes you, our amazing listeners - is that it is so supportive compared to other industries. The five of us talk about what podcasting means to us. We speak about some of our most memorable interviews and most profound listener interactions. We chat about how podcasting encourages deep conversation and active listening and how we really believe it has the capacity to change the world. In this very special episode, which is being released on all our feeds simultaneously, you will hear from Holocaust survivors, Hollywood superstars and happiness experts. And if all that sounds a bit serious, fear not - there are a lot of laughs and some sweary bits too. I hope you enjoy - and wherever you are in the world, we wish you a happy and peaceful Christmas. How To Fail will be back in the New Year and, trust me, I have some extremely exciting things up my sleeve…
In this special roundtable, podcast hosts Fearne Cotton (Happy Place), Elizabeth Day (How to Fail), and Rangan Chatterjee (Feel Better, Live More) join Jake and Damian to explore the impact of long-form conversations, the interviews that have transformed their outlooks, and how making podcasts has changed their life. This episode is a deep dive into how powerful meaningful conversations can be. The hosts collectively share the importance of these deep conversations in fostering empathy, understanding, and compassion to others. When exploring the episodes that have changed their lives, Elizabeth and Rangan reflect on their conversations with Mo Gawdat and Edith Eger about creating a safe space within your own mind and reframing a negative thought into a positive one. Fearne, Jake and Damian also share the episodes that shocked, challenged and inspired them the most.Elizabeth highlights how opening up about her own struggles with fertility created an open and honest dialogue with her guests and her listeners. They agree on how these meaningful conversations extend beyond the recording studio, emphasising that everyone has the ability to engage in these important topics with their friends, family and colleagues. This episode invites listeners to recognise the potential for positive change in their own lives by engaging in profound conversations and focusing on empathy. Video version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03N5Bd9FunM Welcome back to another episode of the Rave Room Podcast. In this episode I sat down with 2 absolute legends. We spoke about how they enjoyed their Basscoast festival experience, their music and so much more. Ardalan Enamored first by traditional Iranian music and classic jazz and rock, Ardalan's taste began to transform with his childhood years spent moving back and forth from Iran and California. “Mr. Spock.” Call it beginner's luck, or more likely, a sign of what was to come–in2010, Ardalan shared one of his earliest studio explorations with Justin Martin, which became the foundation for the breakout hit. “Mr. Spock,” in its bizarre and booty-shaking glory, has been accredited as one of the “tracks that made Dirtybird famous,” helping to define the label's now darling reputation as a trusted source of ridiculous, off-the-wall dance floor bangers. Since, he continued to translate his deep-rooted connection to the dance floor in the studio with remixes on Toy Tonics, Play It Down, Yoshitoshi, and Dirtybird. T Williams West London's T.Williams is one of those people, having accomplished a full sweep of merited recognition over the years. Emerging onto the house scene in 2010, T.Williams instantly marked himself as a breakthrough artist with a difference; his unique take on house music turning heads. Far from a newcomer, his path as a musical artist started in the grime scene as Dread.D. Signed at the tender age of 17 with grime anthem Invasion on Jon E Cash's Black Ops label, Williams went on to have mass success in the grime and bass world selling thousands of singles worldwide. After a five-year reign, Williams found himself veering towards the world of house music. releasing solo works on his imprint Local Action and Pattern with remixes for Maya Jane Coles, Ben Westbeech and Skream. The end of 2011 saw Williams nominated for ‘Best Breakthrough DJ' by DJ Mag, ‘DJ Stars of 2012' by Time Out and featured in The Guardian. Two relationships came to the forefront in 2012 that propelled Williams to greater heights. The first was his weekly show on legendary London station, Rinse FM and the second, Williams' relationship with label PMR through his remix of Javeon McCarthy's ‘Lost Time'. The remix was named Record of the Week by BBC Radio 1 and supported by tastemakers Annie Mac and Fearne Cotton. From here T. signed to the label exclusively releasing his debut EP for the label in September 2012, and in the process receiving further support from BBC Radio 1. Further remixes of Mikky Ekko, Wretch 32 and Lianne La Havas followed suit, as well as his biggest to date - Disclosure's ‘Latch'. Powering dancefloors across the globe. Gaining his own monthly residency show with BBC Radio 1, 2013 ended with T. having played over 100 shows across four continents. 2017 marked the launch and release of the first collaborative EP with UK producer Julio Bashmore, via their joint independent Conch Records, a label aiming to push out more underground cross-genre music with heavy rotation from the likes of Moxie and Shy One. With an ever-expanding global tour schedule and further solo releases on the legendary NYC house label Strictly Rhythm turning heads, T.'s upward trajectory has never showed signs of slowing down. Using his technical prowess as a musician to educate the next generation of rising stars at London's respected Point Blank Music School has cemented his status as one of the UK music scene's key players. Join Scott Mills for the ultimate celebration of the UK's best-loved pop star, who this year headlines Radio 2 in the Park on Sunday 17 September.Australia rings in the New Year first. But as a new millennium dawns, one of her favorite daughters is relaxing in LA. She won't be standing still for long.In the summer of 2000, the world entered Kylie Minogue's third and most iconic era so far. Newly signed to a major label, she's about to unleash a wave of shimmering dance-pop - an imperial phase.Spinning Around introduces audiences to a yet another incarnation of Kylie - one whose sophisticated sound, sex appeal and knowing sense of fun rockets her to her rightful place at the top of the charts. It's a feat she'll repeat with a run of hits that dominates radio playlists. Can't Get You Out of My Head, with its La La La earworm, makes waves across the Atlantic. The future looks Golden. But in 2005, a shock diagnosis with breast cancer cuts the music short. Her illness and recovery play out in public.Through BBC Archive and new interviews with those who knew her at the time, you'll track the dizzy highs and crushing lows of a turbulent era for the Queen of Noughties Pop. An era that leaves her stronger, wiser - and more determined than ever to perform.Contributors include British singer and actor Olly Alexander, Tia Kofi, Jessie Ware, Beverley Knight, Jack Savoretti, Jake Shears and Cathy Dennis (who co-wrote Kylie's 2001 hit Can't Get You Out of My Head), as well as Radio 2 presenters Fearne Cotton and Michelle Visage.
Join Scott Mills for the ultimate celebration of the UK's best-loved pop star, who this year headlines Radio 2 in the Park on Sunday 17 September. When a teenage Kylie lit up Aussie screens in Neighbours, the die was cast for her meteoric rise to fame. Before long, she'd launched a parallel career as a singer - and left Ramsay Street in the rear-view mirror. After that? No prizes for guessing. Sold-out stadiums. Hollywood. Heartbreak. A music career spanning five decades - with hits in every single one of them. No artist works at Kylie's level for that long without a gift for reinvention. In Eras: Kylie Minogue, Scott follows Kylie as she deftly navigates a changing music industry, personal crises, and harsh critics - and never stops winning. Along the way, you'll hear the tracks that left deep grooves on the face of pop culture - and are still making them today. In this episode, new interviews and the BBC Archive reveal a star who's finding her feet - but always knows where she stands. Smart, self-assured, and in the studio with synthpop svengalis Stock, Aitken and Waterman, Kylie discovers the value of great collaborators - and the power of her own image. But Britpop is on the horizon. New relationships - both professional and personal - are making their mark. A new era beckons - time for a change.Contributors include fellow performer at Radio 2 in the Park Beverley Knight, Jack Savoretti, David Tennant (who Kylie starred with in a special Christmas episode of Doctor Who in 2007, watched by over 13 million viewers), Tia Kofi, Jaime Winstone, and Radio 2 presenters Fearne Cotton, Owain Wyn Evans and Michelle Visage.

In this moment, the broadcaster, writer and founder of Happy Place, Fearne Cotton discusses how we can find meaning through connection in our confusing world. Fearne believes that connection can be found in the simple things, such as stepping outside of your own heads and the constant noise of your life and realising the greatness of everything that surrounds you. The reason that stepping outside of yourself is crucial, is that it removes your feelings of self-importance that can separate you from the connections all around you. Growing up in a British working class, non-religious family, TV presenter, best-selling author and Happy Place podcast host, Fearne Cotton, felt the presence of the spiritual world from an early age. "I just looked at the stars and felt completely overwhelmed," she tells Wonderstruck host, Elizabeth Rovere. "It was like, wow, there's something else going on here. It can't just be going to school, coming back, and having my tea." As a girl, Fearne's mother encouraged her daughter's nature as seeker, and her curiosity about seemingly inexplicable, but powerful things, taking her to yoga before yoga became a popular suburban pursuit, and even bringing Fearne to a rebirthing guru after a brush with teenage heartbreak. Now in her 40s, Fearne shares why her work with healers, rituals, and ancient wisdom is more important to her than ever before as she continues her search for self-acceptance, compassion, freedom, and love. There are some heavy subjects in the episode, including suicide, so please be mindful of that and your own well-being before deciding to listen to this episode. Hey everyone and welcome back to Motherkind. The show that is going to help you navigate the massive challenges of motherhood (and life) with more acceptance, ease, joy and purpose. This week is one of those game-changer episodes. It is with Donna Lancaster. Donna has worked as a coach and therapist for over 25 years. She was formally head of teaching at the Hoffman Institute UK and she co-created The Bridge retreat. A six-day personal development experience endorsed by the likes of Bryony Gordon, Fearne Cotton and Thandie Newton. This episode is about healing and facing our past if we want a different future. I deeply believe that this episode has the potential to change lives and save lives - both ours and future generations. She discusses the two phases of life. The first looking at outside forces, such as appearance, career, money and relationships, which is very “me-focused.” And then, according to Donna, the breaking points which present an opportunity to transition into phase two, which is more a “celebration of life.” If this sounds interesting to you then you'll want to get her brilliant new book, The Bridge: A nine step crossing into authentic and wholehearted living. As always, we continue the conversation over on Instagram, so come and join us there. In these ‘Moment' episodes of my podcast, I'll be selecting my favourite moments from previous episodes of The Diary Of A CEO. Fearne Cotton is an author, presenter and podcast host with a goal to help all of her listeners find their own happy place. In this clip, we talk about one section of her book that hones in on the idea of being more self-compassionate. It's something I've spoken about a lot, talking about this voice inside our heads that talks to us. What Fearne says here is that we need to choose what we listen to, and what we focus on. We need to focus on the stuff that we like about ourselves and the things that we really want to celebrate. It's a matter of where we put our attention and focus, and that is a hard practical discipline that we need to work on. It's so important that we learn to become more self-compassionate. I hope listening to Fearne's episode will move you in the right direction.
