Sandy Stec is a comedian and radio host currently residing in San Francisco. She loves hikes and road trips and Christmas! Her episode was co-hosted alongside Maggi Mayfield with Los Angeles based radio talent Mark Wallengren. Sandy Stec has worked with comedians like Kevin Hart, Chelsea Handler and Arsenio Hall and has performed regularly on Norwegian Cruise Lines. These are Sandy's #Fave5 and a little bit extra about the artist and song. The three have been co-workers for years and in this episode you hear lots of behind the scenes stuff in the radio industry and the songs that mean the most to your hosts. We start off by describing our new realities of working from home, what we are wearing, drinking and seeing before diving right into the music. Each radio personality describes a song that reminds them of an early job in their career! Then Mark and Maggi are taken on an emotional ride with Sandy as she shares her #Fave5 songs. We learn about how solo trips and hikes are a refresh/reset button, why you can't always possibly be "on," the emotional toll the COVID-19 pandemic is taking on broadcasters as well as a great story about how Google Translate failed her in France. Sandy also opens up and shares her "Samantha Jones" moment during a recent trip in Nashville. Plus, Mark dishes out some great road trip advice. The episode wraps up with the stories of everyone's First and Last Concert Experience before a few final words from Mark Wallengren ensuring that post-broadcast life is A-Ok! Ep #57 - In today's episode, Matt sits down with Chad Ridgely, a comedian, writer, filmmaker, and entrepreneur. Chad will share about his start in the entertainment industry including his studies at the famous Groundlings Comedy School in Los Angeles. Chad always had the vision of becoming an actor and working in Hollywood, but he has a very interesting story where he took a major detour from that path in college. After being cast in a film to play a police officer, Chad did a few ride alongs with the local police and became infatuated with their work. In a sudden shift, he changed his major to Criminal Justice and then spent the next 10 years working as a cop. He had a lot of success in the police field, but always kept his passion in the area of entertainment. After a decade in law enforcement, he returned to Los Angeles to resume his passion. Since returning to Los Angeles, he has written two feature films, landed a pilot show with Fox, and become a stand up comic. Chad's two movies are both in the comedy-horror genre and are titled "6:66pm" and "Massacre on Isle 12." We talk about making friends with people who were her kind of weird helped Maggi get her start in improv comedy at a young age , How to create something even when people say there aren’t any original concepts left by using what I dubbed the "Frank Sinatra method" of creating, and how important it is to just simply stay curious. Ernie G is a nationally touring empowerment comedian, shaping the lives of young people all of the country. Maggi Mayfield and David Earl Waterman where blown away the entire episode because sounds like he is smiling the entire time and his energy definitely matched his Fave 5 songs. Ernie spills the beans on how Ricky Martin may have spoiled him early on in his comedy career, why he learned the fine art of balloon twisting and why making pinatas started his family in show business! He has an incredible relationship with his Tia, who is one of the only Latina Actresses to have won an Emmy. We learn all about "cholos" and "chinos" and what it means exactly to "Go Around." Ernie also schools us on break dancing and rapping and demonstrates one of them. We also find out what his time after school was like at the Boys Club and who the heck is "Hair Bear." Our Listener Story of The Week comes from Shara in Robinson, IL sharing a touching story about a song handed down from generation to generation. Band Or Bar brought to you by M2M Studios, takes us all the way to Dublin, Ireland. Make sure to check out all the B-Side Tracks that didn't make the final cut as Ernie describes his mama, how he met Maggi, and when he catches himself turning into an 'old man.'
