During the third hour of Jones and Keefe the guys discuss the Celtics and their failure to meet expectations with Justin Turpin then back to the McDaniels discussion. Who made the hire? Was Tommy Reiss Vrabel's number one choice? Where did McCown and Chip Kelly fall on the list? It is a much more appealing job this season. There is something to be said about swinging and missing with Mayo, then hiring Vrabel, a guy who can actually coach at the NFL level. Do the Patriots need to hit some singles before swinging for the fences? Top ten movies Rich Keefe is most excited to see in 2025! from new Marvel movies featuring Harrison Ford, to Mickey 17 directed by the same person who did Parasite featuring Robert Pattinson, there is a lot to look forward to in this new year.

Tune in as I chat with Costume Designer and Writer Marjorie McCown! Marjorie began her career in theatre in New York City before moving to LA to work in film and landing a job as Ruth Myers Assistant Costume Designer on "The Addams Family." She also worked on other A-list features including "Forrest Gump." If that doesn't make her cool enough, she pivoted into her passion for murder mysteries writing two of her own - "Final Cut" and "Star Struck," which are loosely based on Hollywood film sets. Her reverence for the craft shines through the way she writes and speaks as she shared so much knowledge + this quote that I'd love to call out: "The more generous you are, the more generosity you get." In true fashion, Marjorie is sharing that generosity with Costumes & Coffee listeners by giving the first person to answer this question a copy of her first book: Who would Marjorie choose to design costumes if her novels were developed into films? Enjoy this convo! I know I did! And don't forget to share your answers by DM-ing the podcast on Instagram @costumesandcoffee.

A ‘flying car' has lifted off for the first time in Tokyo, in front of dozens of spectators gathered to watch what could be the future of the automobile. And as regulations are fine-tuned, experts say the race is on to become the first city to host commercial aerial vehicles. With the turn of a switch, the Hexa 'flying car' takes off and performs twists and turns 10 meters in the air in a demo flight outside the Tokyo Big Sight convention center. Developed by US firm LIFT, the single-seat Hexa is equipped with eighteen electric motors and propellers. “We are very used to moving two-dimensionally as people. But the ability to move and spin is very dynamic. It gives you a great sense of control,” explains pilot Jace McCown. Unlike airplanes and helicopters, eVTOL, or “electric vertical take-off and landing,” vehicles offer quick point-to-point personal travel, at least in principle. They could do away with the hassle of airports and traffic jams and the cost of hiring pilots, they could fly automatically. Battery sizes, air traffic control and other infrastructure issues are among the many potential challenges to commercializing them. “Right now it is for entertainment, and we are waiting for regulations to change to allow us to take it in to do transportation and things like that,” adds McCown. While the government of Tokyo has said that flying cars can only be realized after 2030, it hopes that they could tackle issues such as traffic congestion and reaching disaster areas. The demonstration on May 17 comes as various Japanese automakers and aviation companies join the competitive eVTOL market. In 2022, All Nippon Airways (ANA Holdings) partnered with US firm Joby to bring electric air taxi services to Japan. Last year, carmaker Suzuki announced it will jointly start producing flying cars with Japanese start-up SkyDrive. The flight demonstration comes as part of SusHi Tech Tokyo 2024, currently underway in the city, introducing a wide range of cutting-edge technology and products with a theme of 'life in the year 2050.' May 17 marked the opening of a new section of the fair, showcasing exhibits of various robots that assist people's work and living spaces, including a self-moving sofa, automated trolley and pet robots. It's the beginning of the week, and McCown and Shannon are joined by Arash Madani for some general sports talk. John Shannon said it best - Arash is the type of guy who can hit any curveball you throw at him, and he puts it on full display today. The three bounce from conversation to conversation, starting with the upcoming Summer Olympics and the details behind Canada's men's basketball team, their roster, and their hopes for gold at the games. International basketball shifts to NBA action as the three break down Dallas' win over the Timberwolves last night. After the break, the three get into some baseball talk, with the Toronto Blue Jays dropping yet another series, this time to the Detroit Tigers.

Matt Crawford speaks with veteran costume designer and author Marjorie McCown about her new novel Star struck: A Hollywood Mystery. Costumer designer Joey Jessop is working on a 1930's Hollywood period piece with two of its biggest stars. After she witnesses a hit-and-run near the set, she realizes the car may belong to the movies female lead, Gillian Best. What follows is a great whodunit with the flare and style of Hollywood that lifts the veil on an unappreciated part of movie making. McCown and I also discuss her decades long work as a costume designer to some of the biggest stars and what her craft entails.

Niqui McCown was a 28-year-old mother living in Richmond, Indiana, with her 9-year-old daughter, Payton, and her fiancé, Bobby Webster. In July of 2001, they were 3 weeks away from their wedding, and Niqui was said to have been very excited. But on the 22nd of that month, she vanished. After going to church that morning, she took some clothes to the laundromat, and rather than wait around for them to be ready, she went to her mother's house, who lived not too far away. When she got there, she explained that she was being harassed by two men, and so her mom advised her to get her clothes and come back over. But after Niqui left, she was never seen again. Suspicion fell on her fiancé for a while, and it also fell on Payton's father. But the true main suspect was her coworker, Tommy Swint. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Tommy was responsible for the murder of a woman back in 1991. But before any arrests could be made, Tommy took his life. Many believe he also took the answers as to what happened to Niqui with him. Welcome to the 4th season of the Creators Society Animation Podcast. We're thrilled to have made it this far! As you know, our business is changing all the time, rapidly. But that means that there is more to talk about than ever, so we're going to be talking to different people and discussing different topics of change and importance. Today we chat with Sean Charmatz and Peter McCown from DreamWorks about their new film Orion and the Dark, which is out on Netflix. This one is super interesting to me from a few perspectives. When I saw the trailer, I was intrigued - it was written by Charlie Kaufman, so you had me interested in seeing what he'd do with an animated film right there, but I was also intrigued by the creative execution, how that vision was executed on a streaming film budget, and its directed by Sean Charmatz, a long time story artist who spent a chunk of his career on Spongebob. If you haven't had the chance to watch it yet, I encourage you to do so. One thing I've noticed after chatting with several people about Orion is that it sparks discussions. It's interesting to me because it deviates from a regular linear narrative, which it easily could have followed. However, this departure from the norm fosters dialogue and, I believe, adds depth to its storytelling.Hope you enjoy it!And if you do, please like, rate, and comment on your favorite podcasting platform and share the episode on social media. If you have any comments or suggestions please get in touch. "Orion And The Dark" is an animated feature film based on the children's book of the same name by Emma Yarlett. Written for the screen by Academy Award-winner Charlie Kaufman, produced by DreamWorks Animation, and animated by Mikros Animation, the film is a dark but honest fable for children and adults about overcoming childhood fears. Stars Jacob Tremblay, Paul Walter Hauser, director Sean Charmatz (making his feature directorial debut), and producer Peter McCown were kind enough to spend some time talking with us about their work on the film, which you can watch or listen to below. Please be sure to check out the film, which is now streaming on Netflix. Thank you, and enjoy! Check out more on NextBestPicture.com Please subscribe on... I once heard birth described as a labyrinth. There is an end goal to which you are pressing towards, and you often have a plan of how to get there, but as you wander the twisting paths, you sometimes walk paths you did not expect. The end reward is the same no matter what course you take- a precious baby in your arms. My precious friend Tobianne McCown joins me to share the birth stories of her three daughters. Each one is so different from the other! From preganacy complications that led to an early deliver via cecesaran, to a very long labor ending in a natural VBAC at the hospital, to a quick homebirth, her stories are all beautiful in their own unique ways. My favorite part about each is how Tobianne shares things that God taught her through the twists and turns of each set of circumstances. The Chicago Audible - Chicago Bears Podcast and Postgame Show
In the world of the Chicago Bears time is a flat circle. Especially when it comes to quarterback controversies. From "Rex is our quarterback"or Kyle Orton, to McCown vs Cutler to Foles vs Trubisky and now Justin Fields vs Tyson Bagent. Fans always seem to be split on the quarteback they'd prefer and the backup quarteback has jokingly always been the most popular guy in town. So where do we stand after Tyson Bagent went out in his first career start and brought back the first win at Soldier Field in 392 days for the Bears? When should we expect Justin Fields to return? And is there any scenario where they dont go back to Fields if Bagent continues to win games? Greg Braggs Jr will be joined by Shayne Marsaw from the Tape Never Lies Network to talk about that and more on CHGO Bears After Dark! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
